5 tips qui m'ont aidée à (tenter) de traverser une période difficile !Aujourd'hui pour clore cette année 2022, je prends le temps de parler d'un sujet sensible : comment traverser une période difficile quand on est en postpartum ou en tout cas quand on a des enfants, parce que souvent dans ces cas-là, on n'a pas d'autres choix que d'être “forte” pour eux/elles.J'écoute énormément de podcast sur le développement personnel et je trouve que jamais les solutions proposées ne sont tout à fait envisageables pour les parents de très jeunes enfants qui ont un sommeil haché. Ou en tout cas la plupart des recommandations sont difficilement applicables avec des touts-petits et le rythme que cela impose.Voila dans cet épisode je vous embarque avec moi pour 5 astuces qui m'ont vraiment aidé à maintenir en partie la tête hors de l'eau quand je me suis retrouvée face à une situation personnelle très difficile. Je ne rentrerai pas dans les détails de ma situation, ce n'est pas le but de l'épisode.Prendre un cahier et écrireLa toute première chose que j'ai faite, c'est d'attraper le premier cahier vierge que j'ai trouvé chez moi et d'écrire. Je n'avais jamais fait ça avant, en anglais on appelle ça journaling. J'avais besoin de sortir les pensées qui m'arrivaient par milliers et d'y trouver un sens. Comme je ne savais pas par où commencer, j'ai d'abord répondu à une question : comment je me sens, à décrire en 3 mots.J'ai écrit tous les jours pendant les 3 premières semaines. A chaque fois des mots différents me venaient pour expliquer mon ressenti et à partir de ces 3 mots j'arrivais à écrire. J'ai été et je le suis encore très anxieuse et de voir les mots s'imprimer sur mon cahier m'aidait à faire baisser la tension en moi. J'ai relu plusieurs fois mon journal et cela fait beaucoup de bien de voir l'évolution. Parce que les gens de votre entourage auront beau vous dire que ça ira, quand on est dans le dur, le comprendre c'est impossible. En revanche, en relisant mon journal je voyais les minis progrès, je voyais les rechutes, les moments d'espoirs et les moments de gros bad. Il y a des choses qui font mal dans la tête mais moins sur un papier.Alors quand faire ça ?Pas simple de trouver un temps à consacrer à l'écriture quand on a un job, des enfants et une vie remplie.Evidemment pour moi le matin c'était impossible, donc je le fais régulièrement le soir après le coucher et après avoir rangé. J'ai un rituel, ça m'aide. J'allume une bougie, je mets un faux de feu de cheminée à la télé et une playlist relaxante. Ce n'est que mon exemple mais ça me prend 15 minutes. J'ai écrit avec plein de couleurs différentes, et quand ça n'allait vraiment pas j'ai remarqué que je choisissais toujours la couleur noire…La pratique d'écrire dans un journal a de nombreux bénéfices, une étude de 2018 a montré qu'écrire un journal en ligne pendant 12 semaines avait fait baisser l'état d'anxiété des participants et surtout avait augmenté leur bien-être général.Voilà pour la première chose, à vous de jouer si ça peut vous aider !Et pour moi, on va être honnête, mon podcast est parfois mon journal pas si intime qui m'aide à clarifier mes ressentis et à avancer. Partout dans les sphères du développement personnel on entend que méditer, devrait être la première chose à faire pour se sentir mieux, dès le matin. J'ai envie de dire, oui mais… mais on fait comment quand on a des enfants qui dorment avec vous, voire sur vous ? On fait comment quand on a pas une seconde à nous dès le réveil ? Parce que, perso, au vu de mon manque gigantesque de sommeil, je ne pourrai pas me lever plus tôt pour méditer, tant que mes nuits sont si chaotiques.J'ai quand même voulu me lancer, donc j'ai téléchargé une application et j'écoute tous les jours ma méditation qui dure 7 minutes avec mes filles. C'est en anglais, elles ne comprennent pas mais c'est pas grave. Je le fais, ce n'est clairement pas aussi efficace que de le faire seule tranquille, mais pour le moment c'est la seule façon que j'ai trouvé de le faire. Et je me dis que je commence ma journée avec un mini mini temps pour moi et elles autour de moi qui vivent leur vie d'enfants, qui boivent leur biberon ou qui demandent 150 fois mamans! Je leur ai aussi expliqué ce que c'était et on fait ensemble les respirations qui sont demandées pendant le temps de l'écoute.Et parfois quand c'est trop galère, je prends mes écouteurs et j'en mets un seul dans mes oreilles et je suis multi-tâches.Ça m'arrive aussi de le faire avant de dormir mais j'ai plus de mal, je suis une fille du matin pour ce type d'exercices.Ecouter des podcasts sur les relations intimes/personnelles + lire des livresSans surprise la 3e chose que j'ai faite c'est d'écouter des heures de podcasts et lire des livres! J'ai dû écouter quasiment tous les épisodes du podcast de Jay Shetty, On Purpose. Jay Shetty est anglais, il a mon âge et c'est un ancien moine bouddhiste. Il parle énormément des relations humaines et intimes dans ces podcasts et je trouve qu'ils sont fascinants et très accessibles. Son podcast se focalise énormément sur la santé mentale et comment en prendre soin. Le seul point négatif c'est qu'il n'est pas parent et je pense que parfois c'est une dimension importante qui manque à son approche. Mais sincèrement, ses podcasts ont été un vrai révélateur pour moi. J'ai aussi découvert le podcast français "Deuxième vie” de Fab Florent et Mai Hua, qui a déjà été mon invitée. Ils y parlent tous les deux de leur 2e vie après la séparation et j'ai trouvé ça super intéressant. Donc en fonction de la période difficile que vous traversez, trouvez un thème de podcast qui vous correspond pour apprendre, et mieux vous connaître. Ensuite les livres ont été essentiels pour moi. Pendant les premières semaines je n'ai quasiment pas été sur les réseaux sociaux, cela me coûtait trop d'énergie… L'avantage c'est que j'avais du temps qui s'est libéré pour lire!J'ai donc commencé par un livre sur le cerveau qui s'appelle “The 7 Neuroscience Secrets of Feeling Good Based on Your Brain Type” écrit par le Dr Daniel Amen, un psychiatre neuroscientifique. Il y parle des différents types de cerveaux qui existent et en fonction du nôtre ce que l'on peut faire. Je vous recommande son test, c'est assez intéressant. Il y parle de nutrition et de l'impact des carences que cela peut avoir sur notre cerveau.Une chose que j'ai appliqué tous les jours depuis avoir lu son livre c'est de me dire tous les matins “Aujourd'hui va être une belle journée” et le soir avant de dormir de me demander ce qui a été positif dans cette journée même quand elle a parfois été atroce. C'est un super exercice pour tenter d'aider notre cerveau à voir le positif et à ne pas sombrer dans le négatif en permanence.J'ai aussi lu un livre qui s'appelle "Conscious uncoupling" qui a été une véritable bouée de sauvetage au début pour m'aider à comprendre ce que je pouvais ressentir. Il a été écrit par la psychologue Katherine Woodward et surtout ce concept a été rendu célèbre par Gwyneth Paltrow et Chris Martin au moment de leur séparation. Sortir, bouger, faire du vélo, du sportJe ne sais pas si vous vous souvenez mais en avril dernier j'avais lancé le challenge “75 jours pour bouger” parce que j'en avais marre d'être sédentaire. J'avais besoin de retrouver le mouvement. Je m'y suis tenue pendant une longue période. Et ce que j'ai gardé de ce challenge c'est d'emmener mes enfants à l'école ou à la crèche en vélo. Je m'y tiens quasiment tous les jours et au moins, je me dis que si je suis restée une journée entière à rien faire, ce n'est pas grave, j'aurais un peu bougé.Parce que oui, il y a des jours où je suis incapable de travailler ou de faire quoique ce soit d'ailleurs. Il y a des jours où j'ai un regain d'énergie et ça va mieux. Mais rien n'est linéaire quand on vit une expérience très dure ou traumatisante, cela vous vide de votre énergie et vous empêche d'être à 100%. Donc aucune culpabilité si vous n'êtes pour l'instant capable de rien. En revanche je me suis rendue compte que dès que je faisais du sport j'allais beaucoup mieux d'un coup. Effet des hormones, immédiat, sur mon corps.Maintenant c'est devenu automatique quasiment dès que je suis dans le dur, je sors marcher et je vais dans la forêt pour emmagasiner l'effet apaisant des arbres ou alors je m'oblige à aller en vélo faire des courses ou autre.Je ne prends plus jamais la voiture pour aller en ville par exemple, seulement le vélo, je me suis imposée cette règle pour ma santé mentale et je sais aussi que c'est bon pour la planète.Aujourd'hui mon objectif c'est de trouver une activité physique en dehors de chez moi pour voir du monde et sortir de ma bulle. C'est en cours…Mantra it's hard until it's easyReconnecter à ses amies, famille (voyage Minneapolis) + thérapie médecin traitantLa dernière chose et surement une des plus importantes c'est la connexion à moi-même et à mon entourage… Nous sommes des êtres sociaux, nos cerveaux sont formatés pour le contact humain et le sentiment d'appartenance… alors dans des moments aussi complexes, le cerveau est en demande +++ de ses semblables.Premièrement ma soeur a été ma plus grande aide. Dans les moments aussi difficiles, avoir un entourage solide est un privilège et je les en remercie. Ma soeur a vraiment vraiment été mon roc. Et plus largement ma famille, mon père et ma mère qui se sont mobilisés comme toujours et tous mes cousins/cousines. J'ai une grande famille et je suis chanceuse de ce point de vue là.Cette épreuve que je traverse, je la vis aussi un peu comme une matrescence, ça m'a obligée à me demander qui j'étais maintenant. Je savais que j'avais négligé mes amitiés en devenant mère, là au moins, me tourner vers elles a été une évidence et elles ont été formidables. Merci les filles, merci merci, merci de m'avoir hébergé, de m'avoir écouté me plaindre et d'être triste, de m'avoir fait rire, de m'avoir soutenue, d'avoir pris de mes nouvelles quotidiennement pour ne pas que je sombre… je sais que vous vous reconnaitrez.J'ai aussi une immense chance, d'avoir une amie médecin qui m'a tout de suite suivie. Ça arrive en dernier, mais surtout si vous allez mal, allez consulter un ou une médecin à la hauteur. Merci Laura.Il y a eu quelque chose de fondamental dans toute cette expérience, c'est que j'ai choisi de partir pendant 9 jours à l'étranger. J'ai choisi d'aller respirer ailleurs. Je ne vous dis pas de prendre un billet pour aller à l'autre bout du monde, mais simplement de changer d'air, pour vous laisser le temps de vous retrouver.Ça a été très dur, surtout parce que partir à Minneapolis cela voulait dire laisser mes filles pendant un long moment et je ne l'avais jamais fait. Mais j'en avais sincèrement besoin.Il m'aura fallu 3 enfants pour comprendre ce concept. Si je vais bien, elles iront forcément mieux.Je leur avait laissé des mots tous les jours, avec des coeurs numérotés pour leur expliquer quand je rentrais. J'appellais quasiment à la même heure tous les jours pour qu'il y ait une régularité et elles étaient très biens avec leur papa.Ce voyage dans le froid du Minnesota m'a reconnecté à des parties de moi que j'avais oubliées. Ça n'a pas été toujours rose simplement parce que d'un coup tu as du temps et de l'espace mental pour penser. Comme tu n'as plus à t'occuper d'autres être humain, il y a un silence qui s'installe et là, les pensées ont le temps d'émerger.Je suis heureuse d'y être allée, d'avoir été si bien entourée par ma famille de cœur. Je suis sortie de ma zone de confort en allant me baigner dans un lac à 1 degré et ça m'a donné une énergie folle. Ça n'a pas tout réglé, loin loin de là, mais ça m'a montré que la femme que je suis sans enfants, sans tous les titres qui me définissent, était encore là, cachée quelque part et que j'étais en train de lui faire de la place pour remonter. Je vous recommande sincèrement de pouvoir vous éloigner du chaos si vous en avez la possibilité, dès que vous le pouvez. C'est essentiel.Dernière chose, quand je parle de connexion dans ce 5e outil, je parle aussi évidemment du travail psy que j'ai entamé. J'y vais une fois par semaine et c'est essentiel à ma guérison. J'ai trouvé la perle rare et c'est un grand soulagement. Je sais que c'est un investissement et que tout le monde ne peut pas se le permettre, j'en ai bien conscience et j'espère qu'un jour cela changera.Voilà pour les 5 tips

You know, I was at a Florida Restaurant Lodging Association conference recently and you were a double speaker there. You had two sessions and I know both those sessions were well-attended, and not only were they well-attended, the feedback you're getting on one of those sessions, from what I hear, has just been remarkable, so a lot of interest. You know how to deliver a great message and people are always interested in learning about how the brain works, and we're going to have another great conversation today about it. Melissa: It is so good to be here. It was great to see you at FRLA. It's one of my favorite events of the year and you're right, that session was amazing. First of all, it was packed and, I believe, most of us really want to know how the brain works and how to make it work better. Not everybody likes to dig into the research the way I do because I'm a little bit geeky that way and I, admittedly, I own that, but, I think, most of us want to know what we can do to make this three pound squishy mass between our ears - Charles: We do. I mean, it is just so cool to hear this and when you hear some of your tips and tricks and your brain hacks, it just - you think, “Wow, I get it. That makes sense. Now I understand why I think like I think.” I also want to give a shout-out. You were on TedTalks recently too and I think you said that was back in April and you're getting a lot of good mentions on that. Today we're going to take a deep dive into neuroscience, which is basically the study of how the brain works. Now, deep breath. This is not a med school class. In fact, to the great disappointment of my mother, I never went to med school, and I never will. Sorry, Mom. No, this is about how the brain works when you're reading the written word. It's very specific and it applies to how people take in, and accept or reject, what you've written. So it's narrowly focused, and great for copywriters. It's from a book called “Wired for Story: The Writer's Guide to Using Brain Science to Hook Readers from the Very First Sentence,” by Lisa Cron. She really knows her stuff when it comes to stories. She's worked with major publishers and movie studios. Plus, she teaches at UCLA Extension in the Writer's Program. Again, what she says for novelists and screenwriters is also hugely important for copywriters. Because as writers, we all face the same problems — how to get people to start reading, keep reading, and buy into what you've written. We'll dig into some great details in a moment. So, let me tell you a little about this book, because it has a strong copywriting connection, right from the start. Eight years ago a big name in copywriting told me about the book, but he made me promise not to tell anyone else about it. I kept my promise and a couple years after that, he said it was OK to share the info with others. Four years ago, I mentioned it briefly on a podcast in a group of books I was recommending copywriters to read. But we didn't go into any detail at the time, like we're going to do today. Recently I read it again, and there were tons of things I saw in it that I hadn't seen the first time. The book didn't change, so, it must have been me. This isn't complicated or technical. After all, the neuroscience has already been processed by a writer in a book for writers. But I think it opens up some new possibilities for writing easier and coming up with much better copy. What today's show is about is, how the brain processes information when it gets ready for you to buy something. I've seen bits and pieces of this info here and there.
