Welcome to Day 4 of the Body Harmony Series. Now that we have grounded our minds, melted away physical tension, and calmed the nervous system, we reach a beautiful turning point in our journey: restoration. Today, we focus on replenishing your vital energy and clearing away the heavy, sluggish exhaustion of physical burnout. When we are constantly giving our energy away to the world, our inner reservoirs run dry. Today's practice introduces the Mukula Mudra (often called the Lotus Bud Mudra)—an ancient hand gesture used to channel concentrated healing energy directly to specific parts of the body that feel depleted or unwell. By combining this somatic hand position with deep, revitalizing visualization, you will direct a laser-focused stream of life force exactly where your body needs to heal and recharge. What You'll Experience In This Session: Energy Point Concentration: Learn how to form and place the Mukula Mudra to focus your body's natural healing currents. Burnout Release: A somatic clearing meditation to let go of deep-seated physical fatigue and depletion. The Mukula Mudra Practice Guide To perform this healing gesture during today's meditation, bring the tips of your four fingers and your thumb together on each hand, forming a shape like a closed lotus bud. You can place these "buds" gently over any part of your body that feels tight, painful, or completely drained of energy—such as your lungs, your stomach, or over your heart space—allowing the concentrated life force to flow directly into that area. A Message for Your Heart Rest your hands in your lap or place your mudra gently over an area that feels tired today, and let yourself fully relax into the support underneath you. You do not have to pour from an empty cup anymore. You are allowed to stop, fill yourself back up, and receive. Softly whisper this reminder to yourself as you settle into the quiet: "I surrender to my inner truth." Let that truth sink deep into your cells: you are worthy of rest, you are meant to live with vitality, and your body knows exactly how to restore itself when you give it the space to do so. This is day 4 of a 7-day meditation series, "Body Harmony Meditation Series" episodes 2713-2719. THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY Today, we are stepping into a week-long journey together: The Body Harmony Series. So often, we live our lives from the neck up—caught in the momentum of a racing mind, managing endless to-do lists, and pushing through the day. But your mind is only half the story. Your body carries the rhythm of your life. It holds your stress, it remembers your long days, and right now, it might be asking you for a moment to simply rest, reset, and repair. Over the next seven days, we are going to close the gap between your mind and your body. We will be using ancient, time-tested awareness techniques and gentle somatic breathing to melt away deep physical tension, soothe your nervous system, and move out of that exhausted 'fight-or-flight' mode. By the end of this week, you won't just feel calmer—your body will feel like a sanctuary again. Let's begin this journey of deep restoration. Go ahead and settle into your space, adjust your posture, take a deep, clearing breath… and let's meditate together." THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE: Bodywise Quest This week, tune into the intuition of your body. Your body knows what you need. Honor its messages this week. Episode Date: 05/09/26 Episode Number: 458Episode SummaryThis week on Home In Progress, Dan tackles one of the most dreaded things a homeowner can face — the smell of a dead animal somewhere in the house — and walks you through exactly how to find it, remove it, and get your home smelling normal again. Then he shifts to the practical side of Art Deco: how to bring that bold, geometric style into your own home without going overboard. And finally, Dan makes the case that paint finish is just as important a design decision as color — and shows you some surprisingly elegant tricks you can pull off with nothing more than a change in sheen. In This Episode[01:46] — Dead Animal Smell: How to Find It, Remove It, and Prevent It[19:25] — Art Deco at Home: A Practical Guide[33:26] — Paint Finish as a Design ToolSegments 1 & 2: Dead Animal Smell — Finding It, Removing It, and Preventing It [01:46]Dan's son Caleb bought a house and discovered a smell that turned out to be a dead possum under the floor — frozen all winter, then very much not frozen come spring. Dan uses that story to kick off a practical, no-nonsense guide to dealing with dead animal odors in your home. How bad will it be — and how long will it last? Size of the animal, temperature, humidity, and airflow all determine severity and duration. The rough timeline:Mouse: a few days to about a weekRat or squirrel: a couple of weeksPossum, raccoon, or larger: several weeks — potentially up to two months in a warm, damp, enclosed spaceHow to find the source:Use your nose. Walk slowly, close doors to isolate rooms, and track where the smell intensifies.Check near outlets, baseboards, vents, attic hatches, crawl space doors, and under stairs.Let your pets help — a dog or cat obsessively sniffing one spot is a clue worth following.Watch for blowflies. Large, metallic-looking flies congregating indoors often indicate a nearby carcass. Follow them.Note: the smell often seems to come from vents, but pest pros say the animal is almost never inside the ductwork — it's usually in a wall or attic space near a duct run. The HVAC is just moving the odor around.Once you've found it — how to remove it safely:Wear gloves and a mask, especially in enclosed spaces.Get air moving before you start: open windows, run a fan.Do not sweep or vacuum rodent droppings — that stirs particles into the air and can spread disease. Instead, spray droppings with a disinfectant or a 1:10 bleach-and-water solution, let it soak 5–10 minutes, then wipe with paper towels and mop the area again.Double-bag the carcass and dispose of it per your local regulations. What happens after removal depends on the surface:Hard, non-porous surfaces (concrete, metal, vinyl): Clean promptly, ventilate well, and the smell usually clears quickly.Porous materials (insulation, carpet pad, unfinished wood, drywall, ceiling tile): Decomposition fluids soak in and the smell can linger — or seem to come back on humid days — long after the animal is gone. In these cases, remove the contaminated material, clean with disinfectant, and then apply an enzymatic cleaner to break down any remaining organic residue at the molecular level. This is the step that eliminates the odor rather than masking it.If you can't find or access the source: The intense phase will eventually pass on its own as the carcass dries out. While you wait:Activated charcoal bags — place them as close to the affected area as possible. They trap odor molecules physically rather than adding a scent. Recharge them in sunlight every couple of weeks. Available at most stores for around $10–15 for a multi-pack.Foaming enzymatic cleaners (like BAC-A-Zap) — drill a small hole into the wall cavity, inject the foam, and the enzymes go to work on organic material from the inside. Available online or through pest control suppliers.Use both together for best results — but be honest with yourself: if fluids have soaked into porous materials inside that wall, you may eventually need to open it up.The final step — odor-blocking primer: Once the source is removed and the area is clean and dry, if you're still worried about lingering odor, you can seal hard surfaces with a shellac-based odor-blocking primer like BIN. Important: this is the last step — a lock on a problem already solved — not a first response. Two things worth knowing:Not every mystery smell is a dead animal. Propane and natural gas have a chemical odorant added to them that some people experience as a decay or skunk smell rather than the classic "rotten egg" description. If you can't find a source, the smell isn't fading, or it has a sharp chemical edge, leave the area and call your gas company. The "poison makes them leave the house" idea is a myth. Rodent poisons do not cause mice or rats to go outside searching for water, and they don't dry out the body to eliminate odor. The rodent eats the bait, gets sick over several days, and dies wherever it happens to be — usually inside a wall, under insulation, or behind an appliance. This is one of the reasons pest professionals often recommend snap traps inside the home instead of poison: you know exactly where the animal is.Prevention — sealing entry points:Inspect the exterior of your home for gaps and holes. For small openings: skip foam or caulk alone — rodents chew right through it. Pack the gap first with copper or stainless steel mesh, then seal over it with exterior-grade caulk or pest-blocking foam. For larger openings: use hardware cloth, metal flashing, or other chew-resistant materials.Check chimney caps, vent screens, damaged soffits, loose siding, and gaps around pipes and utility lines.Go into your garage, close the door, turn off the lights. If you can see daylight around the door frame big enough to fit a dime, that's a mouse entry point.Segment 2: Art Deco at Home — A Practical Guide [19:25]Last week Dan covered the history and origins of Art Deco. This week he makes it practical: how do you actually bring Art Deco into a real home without making the space feel like a 1920s movie set?The good news: Art Deco translates surprisingly well into modern interiors — especially when you borrow selectively. You don't need to go all in. Borrowing a few core principles can give any room more elegance, confidence, and visual impact.Three core ingredients of an Art Deco-inspired room:Shape — Art Deco loves geometry, clear lines, and repeated patterns. Think: a mirror with a stepped frame, wallpaper with a fan or geometric motif, a rug with bold linear structure, a light fixture with globes and symmetry, a vanity with fluted details, or a cabinet with curved corners and brass pulls. It's a structured style — not casual.Contrast — Art Deco works best when there's tension in the room: light against dark, gloss against matte, soft upholstery against hard metal, cream walls against black trim, jewel tones against warm metallic finishes.Sheen — Art Deco has always had an affinity for surfaces that reflect light: lacquer, mirrored materials, polished metal, glass, smooth stone, sleek tile. Even if your paint color is quiet and reserved, bumping up the sheen can push a room toward an Art Deco feel without committing to bolder colors.Color: Art Deco isn't just black and gold (though black, ivory, brass, and chrome is certainly one classic palette). The style also works with:Rich jewel tones: emerald green, sapphire blue, deep teal, burgundy, plumSofter palettes: blush pink, dusty rose, pale aqua, warm cream, smoky taupe, elegant grayWhat matters most is that the color choices feel deliberate — polished and intentional, not random. Two approaches to bringing Art Deco in with paint:Go dramatic: A deep green in a dining room, a rich navy in a bedroom, a charcoal in a powder room — especially when paired with brass lighting, crisp trim, and geometric accents.Go soft and elegant: Warm cream, pale blush, or a light gray-green on the walls, and let black accents, metallic fixtures, and geometric shapes carry the Art Deco energy. This is often the smarter route — the paint creates the atmosphere and the accessories do the style work. The golden rule: make a statement, not ten statements. Art Deco becomes overwhelming when every element is competing for attention. Let one or two things speak.Best rooms to try it:Powder rooms — small, high-impact, and a great place to experiment with darker, glossier choices. A jewel-toned wall, brass sconce, bold mirror, black vanity, and geometric tile can be a knockout.Entryways — Art Deco is great at first impressions. A strong console, a sunburst mirror, and a crisp wall color can make an entrance feel intentional and elegant.Dining rooms — Art Deco...

It's happening.Christian and Ayelet are back for Deal Review Friday with breaking news on an imminent Accenture acquisition, two lower middle market deals that tell you exactly what the current M&A environment looks like, and what all of this means for the scaled independents that were planning to go to market in 2027 or 2028.The dam is breaking. Have you ever heard anyone say something like, “He's a typical farmer. He's built tough and will just power through.” Well, maybe it's time for this image to go. Special guest Kathy Walker joins hosts Jeff Jarrett and Sal Sama for today's episode of The High Ground powered by Premier Companies. Kathy has a degree from Purdue University in health promotion and is the Program Director for the Indiana Rural Health Association (IRHA) who handles the programming for Healthy Minds, Healthy Lives.Kathy will share about how she ended up working for IRHA and specifically, how she began working with growers and ag businesses in the areas of mental health and suicide. In addition to her QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer) and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, you'll learn how Kathy is equipped to help employers by providing training to assist and refer employees and growers in navigating mental health and stress issues. “Farmers… [are] a demographic that has a high rate of suicide… Yeah, they're strong, self-sufficient… but they're also human beings, and we all have our limits.”If you're struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 to reach Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or reach out to the Purdue Farm Stress team which is a group of professionals who are equipped to resource growers with tools, programs, and additional resources to help handle the day-to-day stresses growers face. With much focus on how the energy crisis is impacting prices and supply, comedy writer Aidan Fitzmaurice reflects on how the shortage is draining our energy in more ways than one.
You started your business to build a better life. Somewhere along the way, though, the business became your whole life. Sound familiar? Trust me, I've been there, and that's exactly why I wanted to have this conversation. Here's the real question I want you to sit with. What if the reason, you're stuck right now isn't because you're not working hard enough, but because you're working too much the wrong way? Most entrepreneurs are convinced that grinding 24/7 is the path to success. But the data and real life say otherwise. Founders who get seven to eight hours of sleep and train consistently outperform sleep deprived grinders every single time. And according to Owl Labs, 67% of people actually work better in energy driven bursts, not rigid nine to five blocks. So let me say this clearly. Balance isn't soft. It's a performance strategy. The big lie most of us bought into is that hustle harder equals results. It doesn't. Grinding more hours does not equal better results. Optimized energy equals exponential output. You don't need more time. You need more aligned energy. So here's where I want you to start. Audit your last seven days. Write down what you did in 15 minute increments and ask yourself two honest questions. When were you most productive? And when were you completely fried? That exercise alone will show you your peak power windows, and once you know them, everything changes. Now let's talk about sleep, because this one is non-negotiable. Sleep isn't just recovery. It's performance enhancement. Seven to eight hours a night leads to better decision making, sharper creativity, and stronger emotional regulation. Skip it and you're showing up slower, making worse deals, and leading poorly without even realizing it. I personally stack magnesium glycinate before bed, wear blue light blockers after sunset, and keep my room cold and dark right around 65 to 68 degrees. I also keep consistent sleep and wake times even on weekends. Simple stuff, but it works. Win the night and you dominate the day. Third, your body is the hardware and your brain is the software. You have to train both. Exercise boosts cognitive function, lifts your mood through dopamine and serotonin, and builds your resilience under stress. The minimum effective dose I recommend is three to four strength sessions a week, 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day, and one to two high intensity sessions to get your heart rate up. And I'll be straight with you, I haven't been nailing this lately with a newborn at home. But the goal isn't perfection. It's treating your workouts like investor calls. Non-negotiable. Locked in. No excuses. Fourth, stop working in time blocks and start working in energy sprints. The world is shifting from time based work to energy based work, and for good reason. Your brain naturally operates in 90 minute cycles. So here's the framework I use. Lock in for 90 minutes of pure deep work with zero distractions, no social media, no notifications, no context switching. Just you and your three most valuable tasks. Then step away for 10 to 20 minutes. Walk outside, do some breathwork, stretch, get some fresh air. Then come back and go again. Work like a lion, not a cow. Sprint, recover, and repeat. That's how I get more done in 20 hours a week than I used to in 50. Fifth, strategic downtime is not laziness. It's actually one of the most powerful business growth tools you have. Your best ideas don't happen at your desk. They happen in nature, in the shower, on a walk, or while you're completely unplugged doing something you love. I block out a minimum of two to four hours each week for a full digital detox. I schedule think time in my calendar like any other important meeting. And I make it a point to get out into nature as much as possible because when you get quiet, the best ideas come. Replace one hour of low quality, distracted work with one hour of intentional recovery and watch what happens to your output. And sixth, balance isn't accidental. It's engineered. That's why I created the Soul Mapping System, what I call S.O.U.L.M.A.P.P.I.N., which covers 10 key areas of life including optimized health, unplugging digitally, loving relationships, passionate hobbies, and nature connection, among others. Every Sunday evening I score myself from one to five in each category. I look at where I'm crushing it and where I'm slacking, and I adjust my priorities for the week ahead. What gets measured gets mastered. If you want to go deeper on this, grab my book for free over at https://thehappyhustle.com/. Now here's how I put it all together in what I call the Anti-Burnout Productivity Stack. Seven to eight hours of sleep every night. Three to five training sessions a week. Two to four focused deep work sprints daily. Daily and weekly recovery blocks built into your schedule. And a flex calendar that's aligned with your energy, not just your obligations. If something on your calendar doesn't bring you expansive energy, it's draining you. And that drain is costing you income and impact. So here's my challenge to you. Try this for just three days. Sleep seven to eight hours each night. Do one workout or long walk each day. Work only in 90 minute sprints. And take one intentional recovery block daily. Then track your productivity, your mood, and your output. I promise you'll be surprised by what you see. If you want to 10x your output, stop trying to 10x your hours. That equation never works. Instead, 10x your energy, your recovery, and your alignment. Because at the end of the day, balance isn't weakness. It's your unfair advantage. What Would It Take for You to Give Yourself Proper Rest? In a solo, on-the-fly episode, Juan asks what it would take to give yourself proper rest, reflecting on a birthday staycation Courtney booked at an older downtown Phoenix hotel near Van Buren that has changed over time. Though only a few miles from home and not his best sleep, he values the space to reset, enjoy simple pleasures without shame, and practice being present. He compares restorative rest to letting a phone cool down and stop draining energy, not just plugging it in while still overworking it. He notes how people dismiss rest as "just sleep more," argues that avoiding rest can be insecurity, and suggests a nap or snack can help when overwhelmed. Drawing on their IVF experience, he emphasizes that supporters need rest too, and that high performers rest well; his call to action is to pursue truly regenerative rest anywhere. 00:00 Todays CBQ Setup 00:36 Staycation In Phoenix 01:25 Why Rest Feels Hard 02:39 Phone Battery Metaphor 03:35 No Shame Rest Rules 05:03 Presence And Letting Go 06:02 Late Nights And Reset 06:49 IVF Lesson On Support 07:08 Rest Like A Champion 07:48 Simple Call To Rest

EV charging stations are usually places to pass through, not places to stay. But what if they could become green, restorative spaces instead? In this episode, host Michael Booth talks with architect Louise Flach de Neergaard from Cobe about a new generation of charging stations designed for Clever. Using timber canopies, native planting and nature-based design, the project rethinks infrastructure as a place for pause, biodiversity and everyday wellbeing. The conversation explores how architecture can transform enforced waiting time into a meaningful break, and how even the most technical infrastructure can contribute positively to landscape, climate and quality of life. What if the thing you've been avoiding… is actually the thing that unlocks everything? What if the next level of your life isn't in the grind—but in the pause? What if “I'll rest when I'm dead” isn't a badge of honor… but a warning sign?In this episode, I'm sitting in a Tommy Bahama chair, toes in the sand, having a real conversation—with you, with myself, and with my Pops. And I've gotta ask you…When was the last time you actually rested—like really rested? Not distracted. Not scrolling. Not half-working, half-breathing.I'm talking about the kind of rest that clears your mind, softens your heart, sharpens your instincts… and somehow makes you better at everything that actually matters.Because here's what I'm starting to realize…If battles are won in preparation…And preparation requires clarity…Then where does that clarity come from if you never slow down?My Pops used to say, “Boy, it's in the rest that the progress happens.”And I used to hit him back with, “I'll rest when I'm dead.”Sound familiar? Now I'm wondering…What if the hustle you're proud of is the very thing draining you? What if rest isn't weakness—but discipline? What if rest is the filter that:Keeps your mind soberHelps you listen more than you speakMakes you better to peopleStrengthens your business decisionsKeeps you out of unnecessary debtSharpens your discernmentFilters your circleDeepens your faithAnd gives you a name that actually means somethingWhat if rest is how you win… without losing yourself?Proverbs 20 doesn't just suggest rest—it guides you into a way of living where clarity, integrity, wisdom, and peace all show up at the same time. But let me ask you something real…If you never stop… how will you ever hear what matters most?I didn't understand that before. But sitting here on the beach… I do now.So maybe the question isn't “Do you have time to rest?”Maybe it's…What is it costing you not to?Pops… I hear you now.And I'm finally taking the time.If this hit you, share it with someone who needs permission to slow down. And when you do… ask them this:

Today's episode is all about self-care for autistic people, and joining me is return guest Dr. Megan Anna Neff of Neurodivergent Insights. Megan Anna has just published a new book called Self-Care for Autistic People: 100+ Ways to Recharge, De-Stress, and Unmask! which she wrote to help autistic people accept themselves, destigmatize autism, find community, and take care of physical and mental health. Megan Anna considers self-care to be a collective effort that includes the well-being of the community, a framework that really resonated with me. So we talk about that, along with other ideas from Megan Anna's book, including how internalized ableism can hinder self-care, considerations for navigating self-care for individuals with PDA, and insights into co-regulation, sensory considerations, and how advocacy and accommodations in the workplace can also be forms of self-care. Solitude is not a punishment; rather, it is an essential practice that allows us to tap into our true selves amidst the chaos of everyday life. I highlight the importance of carving out alone time, regardless of whether you're an introvert, extrovert, or ambivert, because life's demands can easily overwhelm us, leaving little room for self-reflection.Reflecting on my recent experiences, I discuss how the pressures of daily interactions and responsibilities can lead to feelings of being swamped and disconnected from the present moment. I share my realization that, with so much external noise, I found myself bouncing between past regrets and future anxieties instead of embracing the here and now. This made me yearn for solitude, which I realized is a personal choice I must prioritize.I delve into the distinction between loneliness and solitude—where loneliness signifies a sense of disconnection, solitude allows for the opportunity to reconnect with oneself. By stepping away from the demands of our surroundings, we can better process our thoughts and gather clarity. I emphasize that retreats, whether they be for meditation or simply quiet time at home, serve as powerful catalysts for introspection.#AnxietyCoachesPodcast, #AnxietyCoaches, #ACPSolitude, #AlohaSpiritMindset, #AnxietyCoachesCommunity, #TheRichnessOfSelf, #LetTheDustSettle, #RespondingNotReacting, #ClearTheSlate, #SubconsciousBubbling, #AnxietyRelief, #Solitude, #MentalHealthMatters, #SelfCare, #Mindfulness, #PersonalGrowth, #InnerPeace, #MentalClarity, #Recharge, #SelfReflection, #WellnessJourney, #IntrovertLife, #PresentMoment, #Journaling, #EmotionalWellbeing, #StressRelief, #Healing, #SpiritualGrowth, #HealthyBoundaries, #AnxietySupport, #MentalHealthAwareness, #PanicAttackRecovery, #CalmYourMind, #ACP, #GinaRyanSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
What if the stress, anxiety, and burnout we feel aren't signs that we're doing too much, but signs that we're plugged into the wrong source? It's time for us to unplug so we can actually recharge. In this episode, Christine Caine invites us to follow the example of Jesus, who regularly withdrew from the crowds to pray, reminding us that peace, clarity, and strength are found not in constant connection, but in God's presence. As our devices demand more of us than ever, this message calls us to unplug from the virtual world and intentionally plug into the One who renews our souls and restores our joy. ✨ Be equipped and empowered to discover: ● Why Jesus intentionally withdrew from people to be with the Father. ● How constant digital connection is fueling anxiety, burnout, and distraction. ● What it practically looks like to unplug from technology and plug into God.
