We discussed the reason that she started this Facebook page, which is dedicated to connecting people in order to develop chosen families. We then moved into a conversation about how this site can help connect former foster youth with adults who can serve as surrogate family and mentors. We wrapped up with the challenges that youth aging out of foster care face, and how developing a strong relationship with supportive adults can be the key to making the transition successfully.

Playwright Howard Skora stopped by Playwright's Spotlight, and what a fascinating interview he delivered. What I thought would be another insightful look into the craft of playwriting, turned into an unsuspecting history lesson about the psychologist Sigmund Freud and quite a few unknown stories about his life. Not only does Howie educate me about the all things Freud, we delve into the stakes in comedy and playing against opposites, taking creative license with historical characters and stories, the research that goes into said people and events and what gets sifted out, and whether or not he writes prior, during or post research as well as the need to collaborate. In addition, we touch on writing for specific actors, stage directions requiring specificity, the pros of self-producing, rewriting during rehearsals, and the struggles and success and starting in standup when it comes to playwriting. It's definitely an episode for the books, and I look forward to catching a performance of Freud on Cocaine. Howard Skora is a Los Angeles based playwright whose play Damaged Furniture had a 6 month sold-out run in Los Angeles that garnered him a Best Play and Best Writer nominations for the 2019 Valley Theater Awards. His first play, Miserable with an Ocean View ran for 5 sold-out months and was the top-rated original comedy in Los Angeles on Bitter Lemons for its entire run with a 94% sweet rating. His most recent play Freud on Cocaine will premiere at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks, CA September 8th, 2023.To view the video format of this episode, visit the link below -https://youtu.be/lFdmcz_VyCYLinks to sites and resources mentioned in this episode - The Diane Thomas Award -https://www.networkisa.org/contest/view/ucla-diane-thomas-awardThe Actor's Gym -https://www.theactorsgymny.org/teamThe Whitefire Theatre -https://www.whitefiretheatre.comHollywood Fringe -https://www.hollywoodfringe.orgLucy Pollack PR -https://www.lucypr.comDunning-Kruger Effect -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effectTickets for Freud on Cocaine -www.freudoncocaine.comContact information and socials for Howard Skora -www.howardskora.comTwitter - @howardskoraIG - @howardskoraWebsites and socials for James Elden, Punk Monkey Productions and Playwright's SpotlightPunk Monkey Productions - www.punkmonkeyproductions.comPLAY Noir -www.playnoir.comPLAY Noir Anthology –www.punkmonkeyproductions.com/contact.htmlJames Elden -Twitter - @jameseldensauerIG - @alakardrakeFB - fb.com/jameseldensauerPunk Monkey Productions and PLAY Noir - Twitter - @punkmonkeyprods - @playnoirla IG - @punkmonkeyprods - @playnoir_la FB - fb.com/playnoir - fb.com/punkmonkeyproductionsPlaywright's Spotlight -Twitter - @wrightlightpod IG - @playwrights_spotlightPlaywriting services through Los Angeles Collegiate Playwrights Festivalwww.losangelescollegiateplaywrightsfestival.com/services.htmlSupport the show

January 6th 1999 A pusher tug boat called The Elk was traveling along the Vistula River in Poland, when it came to a sudden halt just a few short feet from it's mooring. The propeller had gotten stuck and so the captain and crew went to pull out what they assumed would be tree branches or River weeds. When the opened the hatch to access the propeller they were met with a sickening smell, it wasn't tree branches, and it wasn't river vegetation, it was a large pale piece of human skin. Using brand new DNA technology Polish authorities would learn that the skin belonged to 23 year old college student Katarzyna Zowada, but what they didn't know was that her story would go on to be one of the most sensational and prolonged investigations in Polish history. In the United States Katarczyna's story is know as "the Polish skin case" but in Poland it is simply called “Skora” which means… leather. This case is graphic, so proceed with caution. https://awnaves.medium.com/the-long-road-to-justice-for-katarzyna-zowada-fe28a00d463 https://krakow.naszemiasto.pl/sprawa-skory-ojciec-oskarzonego-jestem-przekonany-ze-syn/ar/c1-8617701 https://wiadomosci.gazeta.pl/wiadomosci/7,114883,22509867,sprawa-kusnierza-robert-j-w-jednoosobowej-celi-czy-ktos.html Validate Us: WWBD Merch Shop Buy us a cup of validation WWBD Official Soundtrack, Vol. 1 WWBD Official Soundtrack, Vol. 2 Shadows of Christmas (WWBD Christmas Album) Sponsors Shore Soaps Try Audible Plus Give the Gift of Audible! Stephanie Skora is the force behind the Girl, I Guess Progressive Voter Guide. She's a self-proclaimed 'Jewish, queer, trans, nerd' dedicated to helping members of the community navigate confusing ballot races and identify the most progressive candidates. A grouchy Jewish trans dyke, and an anarchist with a political science degree – Stephanie is as wise and witty a radical organizer as you'll ever meet. But in her humility she urges us all to consult with other progressive/radical organizers in our communities, especially queer, trans, Black, and Brown folks because the guide is currently an individual effort, and, as she reminds us, “I might be a Virgo smartypants know-it-all with a lot of opinions, but I'm far from infallible!”

With Election Day three weeks away, maybe you're looking for some help making sense of everything that's on the ballot, especially if you've been feeling disillusioned with politics. That's where the comprehensive Girl, I Guess Progressive Voter Guide may come in. Every election, organizer Stephanie Skora looks at issues through a progressive lens, focusing on candidates and measures that support workers rights, social services, and environmental causes, and more. Skora joins host Jacoby Cochran to talk about her most important issues on the ballot and why it's critical to participate. Through FELLR, they're striving to create something new and different to innovate in the fast-paced seltzer market.
En este episodio les cuento la historia de Katarzyna Zowada, una joven que desapareció en 1998 y cuyo caso sigue abierto al día de hoy.

It was a beautiful day. The sea was calm and the sun was shining. The water was crystal clear and even while you were sitting on the side of the boat, in your full diving gear, you could see the corals and wonderful sea creatures in the water. You knew it was going to be a long day and you would probably split it into two or three dives. You did one last check of your gear and then you leant back and dropped into the Aquamarine by Matthew Dunstan and Rory Muldoon from Postmark Games.
BrownTown chops it up about electoral politics, the remap process post-2020 Census, borders and anti-Zionism, and much more with repeat guest (Ep. 60) Stephanie Skora, movement worker and creator of the popular "Girl, I Guess" Progressive Voter Guide. The gang again takes on the nuances of engaging in electoralism while holding radical politics and the importance international solidarity between colonized peoples. Originally recorded May 16, 2022, before the new Chicago ward map was approved. Spring 2022 marks two years since the most recent Census where the new representational map of our political reality has changed to, so we're told, better reflect our lived populations. It has also been one year after renewed worldwide attention on the Israeli occupation, specifically in the Palestenian neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah. How do we place the remap process within the broader system of American electoralism, for better or worse? More broadly, how do we conceptualize not only the invisible lines of representational democracy based on population in America but also the more militarily enforced borders that manufacture our economic and political reality to justify the state's existence, globally? This is their take. GUESTStephanie Skora is a hard femme Lesbian, trans woman, and anti-Zionist working class Ashkenazi Jew whose activist work centers around Palestinian solidarity organizing, queering Jewish spaces, and fighting for justice and liberation for all trans people. She is the COO of Brave Space Alliance, the South Side LGBTQ Center, the Board President of the Midwest Institute for Sexuality and Gender Diversity, a longtime member of Jewish Voice for Peace, and the author and editor of the "Girl, I Guess" Progressive Voter Guide. I'm thrilled to welcome Amanda Skora of AJ's Boutique to the podcast today! You can find AJ's Boutique on Lower Main in Downtown Dubuque. AJ's offers sizes XS-3X so everyone can enjoy casual clothing with a bohemian twist. Amanda says her path to AJ's Boutique is not linear, it takes a few different avenues, but it sure makes for a fun episode! I loved hearing her interesting backstory. Amanda has great style! It's what led her to open her business in 2020 and is a big part of her success. Make sure to follow her on the socials linked below and check out her look. She's one to watch! Key Takeaways Amanda grew up near Dubuque about five miles away in Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Dubuque after studying business. After some time working in graphic design in Dallas, Texas, Amanda returned to the Dubuque area because “home is home!” Amanda got her start with AJ's Boutique while drawing on her iPad and she discovered her logo. As she says, the rest is history! Amanda opened her brick and mortar shop in downtown Dubuque in November of 2020. She has a great website but loves her physical storefront for breaking through the dense online market space. Amanda is learning to stock what customers will buy instead of what she personally loves. She enjoys that the Midwest is somewhat behind on trends because it gives her time to stock and prepare. She loves the education and seminars at market but says it is easy to overbuy! Amanda says her best investment is size inclusivity which means taking her own photos with diverse models. Things she's loving right now: 90's style, the book Own the Day, Own Your Life by Aubrey Marcus, and the podcast Drama Queens. She's doing 75 Hard which is a very rigorous health discipline and cuts out her beloved chips, salsa, and queso! Her dream for her business is to open another location and maybe design some day! Connect with Amanda Shop online at AJ's Boutique for local pickup or worldwide shipping. Follow on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok Empower Her Summit Friends, I don't want you to miss out! The Empower Her Summit at Bella Sala in Tiffin, Iowa on August 25 will be the. thing. of the year! The speakers and women in the room are downright amazing. You will get so much value, inspiration and motivation! Tickets are live now on the website. Don't miss it!
The boats were making their way out to sea, heading for the three main fishing grounds off the coast of the Isle of Norsica. You were hoping that your fleet would bring back the best catch. It would require brain and brawn to beat the rival clans and land the biggest fish. If your clan could grab the most lucrative haul, you would be crowned Skora by Rory Muldoon from Inside the Box Board Games. A forradalmi munkásmozgalomból miként nőtt ki a szociáldemokrácia? A 20. század második felében miként lettek a munkáspártokból polgári pártok? Ezekről a kérdésekről beszélgetett 2020. december 4-én a Klubrádió Szabad a pálya c. műsorában Csunderlik Péter történész, a Politikatörténeti Intézet kutatója K. Horváth Zsolt történésszel és Szűcs Zoltán Gábor politológussal. * * * * * POLITIKATÖRTÉNETI INTÉZET HONLAP * FACEBOOK * HÍRLEVÉL * TÁMOGATÁS Photo credit: Unsplash Audio credit: Music by TimMoor from Pixabay

Speaker, organizer and educator Stephanie Skora just that community activist. As the author of the Girl, I Guess Progressive Voter Guide, she's researched every person on the ballot, comprehensively laid out their platforms and given her own political endorsements for years. Now, she has her eyes focused on the General Election today. She stopped by to tell us what to expect from today, from media coverage, to vote counting, as well as some extra details from our own Chicago backyard.
Ready to learn and get in your feelings? In this episode, Monica and Page connect with Stephanie Skora, Associate Executive Director of Brave Space Alliance and author of the Girl, I Guess Voter Guide. Stephanie shares her love and learnings from S. Bear Bergman's Blood, Marriage, Wine & Glitter, a book of personal essays about their queer and trans experiences of family. This is a moving conversation about joy, resilience, memory, love, and softness, sprinkled with some timely conversation about the complexities of voting.
