New Meta Podcast is back for somewhat of a season two, after taking a couple weeks off after TI. Marco and Adam join Stan to discuss how their games have been going and how they are contending with the patch and matchmaking system. The discussion then turn towards two unlikely powerhouses of 7.22g: Night Stalker and Mirana, what makes these heroes strong and what are the best ways to play them? https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
Join podcasters Stan, Adam and Marco as they cover the changes seen in patch 7.22f. They answer the most pressing questions such as whether Terrorblade Aghanim's will make a TI appearance (most likely not), or which heroes continue to stay flavoursome as the patches continue to roll out. https://discord.gg/zJWpX6t
In ep 37 the crew are in discussion about the emergence of Pudge as a position 1 carry hero. The first 15 minutes of the discussion are unfortunately too damaged to be used but the rest of the discussion is fruitful and interesting, covering the hero everybody loves and hates in equal measure, Pudge. https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
Patch review of 7.22e with Stan, Marco and Adam! https://discord.gg/YazgfV8
In this ep the pod squad discuss one conception of strategy in Dota, that of team power spikes. After the usual news and shout outs the trio get talking about how knowledge of basic strategy can be wielded to cut through the mindless zombie walk of pub Dota and gain you mmr! How to recognise a spike, how to complement and build towards it and how to execute are all conversation starters. https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
Ep 33 sees the gang dive into Enchantress and Omniknight in 7.22d, discussing how both are emerging as top picks in both the 3 and 5 role (14:25)! Before we dive into the topic at hand Marco and Adam's damaged audio file tells tales of both their recent TI open quals and RD2L games. https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
Patch review with all three of the boys. From bottom to top for a change! Justice for Zues! https://discord.gg/VCrW5Vw
Nothing beats a classic Meta-game discussion, with ep 31 seeing Adam and Stan sitting down to discuss the position 5 heroes that are seeing the most play in the pub scene. Warlock, Oracle, Abaddon, CM, Bane and Grimstroke are topping pick rates in public march-making and the duo discuss the differences between the heroes, and how their current iterations tend to be played. https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
Episode 30 warrants a major topic, and so the crew are in full swing this week discussing the different styles of mid-lane heroes. From farmers and pushers to dominators and tempos, the trio cover how certain heroes want to play the mid lane and where they want to be moving on the map. Why a hero's kit or match-up is suited to playing such a way is also touched and the talk is littered with general tips and strats for playing mid. https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
Episode 29 sees the New Meta squadron discuss some potential gems to try in the 4 position. Adam uses his experience as a recent convert to the 4 role to guide Marco and Stan through the weird worlds of pos 4 Axe (9:50), QoP (37:10), Spirit Breaker (49:45) and Mars (69:00). We're all very excited about this Axe! https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
In episode 28 the podders read through the changes in the 7.22c patch and discuss the various changes, discussing how the meta will be impacted. Before getting started the trio take some time to talk about the Twitch Rivals reverse captains mode event which made for an interesting watch. Topics include whether Axe is a decent 4 now?, what Chen even does anymore?, Skywraths damage buffs, why on earth Tinker got a gpm talent? https://discord.gg/VCrW5Vw
Stan and Marco return from the New Meta away day at ESL Birmingham to subject Adam to all the stories, and indeed Dota, that the crew was able to soak up at the event! Subjects include Canals, DHL, Secret, Marco's 1v1 fail, EG, drafting and of course more touching of pro players hands. https://discord.gg/VCrW5Vw
Stan and Adam enjoy a duo pod this week, deciding to postpone the 'How To Play Offlane' episode until Marco returns to the fold. In this Episode the trans-Atlantic duo discuss their recent fortunes in Dota, the new player experience of the game and Adam's RD2L team. After a lovely drum transition the episode moves to the main topic of dissecting an actual game of Dota, in this case a very typical party stack pub game. Adam and Stan tell the story of the game while focusing on how and why their game plan and strategies changed as the game went on. https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
Adam, Marco and Stan tackle the the full force of the battlepass in episode 21, covering all elements of Gaben's cash-cow extravaganza that we simply cannot resist! Our expedition journeys through the jungle, new cosmetics, compendium and all the cluttered joy in this year's pass! The trio then cover some fun laning duos to try in your Dota games. As always join the Discord to continue the fun Dota chat! https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
Episode 20 sees Stan Marco and Adam tackle the biggest question in Dota: how to get gud? The crew start their discussion at the bottom of the ladder, talking about the fundamentals necessary to climb out of 1k (12:20). Then the podders escape the clutches of 2k (29:50), 3k (47:45), 4k (58:00) and eventually reach the 6k promised land (75:00), in turn covering the key aspects of beating each tier. https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD Join the discord for great discussions and Dota chat!
New Meta enjoys its final episode as a teenager with Stan, Marco and Adam giving perspective on the relative excellence of the current meta, as well as the few heroes/items that perhaps do need a change. The crew then discuss their hopes and expectations for the incoming patch after the Paris major, including what it would take to get Io and Mars into Captains Mode and how to resurrect some dead heroes back into the meta. https://discord.gg/YazgfV8
In episode 18 the New Meta lads work through a checklist of properties that a team composition might have (such as push, durability, disable etc) and deciding which aspects are essential, which are optional and which are game dependent. As the episode develops Marco catches a train and Stan and Adam struggle to make a cake analogy work. https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
Stan (TheMagicT) returns to the hosting chair in this Tuesday edition to join Marco (Takko) and Adam (ComeDineWithMe) to discuss unusual and fun heroes to play in the support role. Proceedings open with a discussion on what aspects of a heroes kit make them a good fit for position 5. The chat then focuses on a few specific 'funky fives' that are surprisingly effective; the now well established Abaddon is covered, as well as Legion, Phoenix, Doom, Natures Prophet and Visage. https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
In this episode the crew gathers to celebrate Marco's return to Immortal, as well as discussing the variety of heroes and play styles seen in the mid-lane (5:35). The trio then each bring a favourite mid hero to the table and talk about why and how they work in the current meta. Adam bolts off the conversation with Razor (16:16), followed by Marco's Queen of Pain (38:03) and finally Stan's Necrophos (67:12). Join the Discord for more fun and interesting discussions as well as upcoming in-house evenings with fellow listeners and the podders themselves. https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
In this edition of the pod the topic at hand is how to play in and around a difficult lane. Everyone hates playing in a terrible lane, but the podders are here to help mitigate the damage and stop a bad lane turning into a bad game! The discord continues to grow and be a lot of fun. Join for lively Dota discussions and general chat, also watch out for news on upcoming party and in-house evenings! https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD
Episode 11 sees Adam, Stan and Marco sink their teeth into Dota's most agonising and avoidable misplays, represented by the Seven Deadly Sins (Sloth, Envy, Pride, Greed, Gluttony, Lust and Wrath). From greedy teammates farming one wave too many, to slothful players missing free cs, no Dota game is devoid of sinful actions. The gang enjoy a fun discussion about such topics and discuss how best to avoid these common pitfalls.
Join our Discord! https://discord.gg/rgV6KwD New Meta Podcast marks its tenth edition with the best episode yet, as Marco, Adam and Stan explore the key decisions you should make when playing carry. From the strategy phase all the way to the late-game, the most game-deciding decisions often fall at the feet of the carry, being the highest net worth and often most important hero on the team. The usual podcast suspects are here to shed light on how to navigate these choices.
Adam and Stan sit down for a good old chat about the meta-game, focusing on 6 heroes to try in a patch that seems to be establishing itself a few weeks on from release. With Marco absent, the duo move from 2 heroes that dominate loudly: Lifestealer and Ursa (06:51), to covering a rising response pick in Razor (31:45). Visage is next in line, quietly remaining the highest win-rate hero in Dota (46:27), followed by Bounty Hunter (60:00) and finally Oracle (69:56).
This episode takes the form of a guide on how to play position 5, with the gang discussing key points that can help improve your support play! Adam (ComeDineWithMe), Marco (Takko-) and Stan (TheMagicT) cover different types of lane match-ups and how to approach them, how to most effectively use your time, how to spend your gold and much much more! A must listen for any aspiring supports.
