It's always a pleasure to be invited to play at the A State Of Trance festival in Holland, and every year gives me an opportunity to showcase a lot of unreleased music from myself, my label and my colleagues. This set is packed full of music with melodies, not as much tech, and lots of emotion. I finished off my set with a special tribute outro mix of "By My Side", dedicated to my mother who passed away two weeks ago. I hope you enjoy the set.

Hello. Thanks for checking in to this repeat performance of a STAGES conversation, recorded with the divine Jacqueline Dark in April 2019.Jacqui's passing is a terrible shock and sadness that we all share. A consummate artist who had so much more to give her audience - across many platforms - Opera, Musical Theatre and Cabaret. Jacqui commanded a stage with an exquisite presence, an extensive skill set and an elegant humanity.Her stage presence was such because of her love of life and all that she encountered in it. Her generosity of spirit and laughter and kindness touched so many people. I was fortunate to know Jacqui for several decades, meeting her in community theatre productions in Ballarat. She excelled in the operetta of the Gilbert & Sullivan cannon, featured annually during Ballarat's Begonia Festival. She turned her focus to straight plays too, giving a delicious 'Nora' in Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs. And I watched mesmerised at every performance of Godspell, as she delivered a passionate ‘By My Side'. She excelled in theatre restaurant and music hall presented at The Victoria Theatre, Sovereign Hill. Cheeky, dedicated, warm, witty and possessed of the most magnificent voice - Jacqui was destined for far bigger stages. And so she did. And so, she conquered them all.Condolences to all of Jacqui's colleagues, family and friends. Nykia Perez Kibler, co-founder of Philly Tree People (501c3), is an ISA Certified Arborist® with a Master in Environmental Studies degree with a focus on Environmental Biology from the University of Pennsylvania (Penn). She also has a Master in Liberal Arts from Penn, a Certificate in Landscape Plants from Temple University, a Master of Library & Information Science from The University at Buffalo, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fine Art Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. Her two capstones from Penn were: “Philly Tree People: A Case Study on the Formation of a Non-profit Community-based Tree Planting and Tree Care Organization" where she outlined the Pruning Club program and "Management of the Urban Forest: A Zip Code Level Approach" where she outlined the plan for a Green Skills Youth program both of which were heavily modeled after programs after UC (University City) Green in West Philadelphia. She was an intern at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve where she worked in their native plant nursery, participated in interpretation activities, led guided walks for families, assisted with grounds maintenance, marketing, and data collection. Nykia is generally interested in ecological restoration, urban ecology, urban wildlife, ornithology, wetlands, urban forestry, native plants, biological conservation, road ecology, environmental education, nonprofit leadership, urban orchards, food gardening, green walls, children's play spaces/gardens, and citizen science. Professionally, she works as a library director and research librarian providing and developing research services for faculty and graduate students at Penn, supporting grants, and disseminating research results via websites and social media. She's also a girl scout troop leader and engages youth in tree planting, pollinator gardening, camping, and citizen science. Jacelyn Blank is an ISA Certified Arborist® with a bachelor's in fine arts and a master's in education with Pennsylvania teaching certifications in Elementary and Special Education. She is one of the three co-founders of the federally recognized not-for-profit Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Tree Tender organization, Philly Tree People. When Jacelyn isn't volunteering her time with Philly Tree People she teaches preschool children part time at a not-for-profit play school in Fishtown called By My Side, where she focuses on child led play and interests, increasing students' social emotional understandings through incidental teaching opportunities, as well as introducing students to a variety of environmental and art related educational experiences. She also co-founded the Friends of H.A. Brown, her local catchment public school where she completed her student teaching in 2011 and where her son currently attends. Jacelyn launched her own small business; Blank Slate Trees and Gardens, in 2021 where she works with Philadelphia clients on landscape design, garden creation and maintenance, installation and care for trees and installation of plants for window boxes and planters with an integration of native plants. She is currently completing her Pollinator Steward Certificate through the worldwide organization, Pollinator Partnership. Rehearsal Crash, with the cast of Waterville Playshop's Godspell September 9-12 Come sing about love as Playshop presents Godspell! Waterville Playshop is set to make a return to live musical theatre this summer! We invite you to come help us make something special by coming to see the new revival version of Godspell, a dramatized story built from parables found in the Book of Matthew. We'll be bringing this wonderful show to life on September 9th - 12th, and we'd love for you to be a part of the incredible experience! A perfect message for our society right now, the story describes for people of any and all faiths Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance and love. Those ideals come vibrantly to life through storytelling, dancing, and songs of all genres; it literally has something for everybody! Godspell was the first major musical theatre composed by Stephen Schwartz, the same man who composed Wicked, Pippin, and Children of Eden, among others. This show took the world by storm, leading to a movie and now new revival adaptation. It includes such beloved tunes as “Day by Day,” "All for the Best," "All Good Gifts," and "By My Side." Director Michael Devon Barlos is assisted by Jerri Lee. Joelle Stiles is the music director, and Becky Beebe is the choreographer. Danny Carder plays the role of Jesus, and he leads a stellar cast of musical disciples, ready and eager to tell their story. This is one show you truly don't want to miss. Performances are scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, September 9 through 11, at 8 pm, and Sunday, September 12 at 2:30, at the Maumee Indoor Theatre. Tia Ketant is our guest on this week's episode, bringing us her experience and wisdom related to the landscape women of color birthing in America face. Women of color die at a rate 3x higher than that of white women and 12x higher in NYC, specifically, where Tia is located. Tia is an advocate and a certified doula, fighting for safe care for women of color and educating women about the best choices available to them. (See below for Tia's full bio.) In this episode, we discuss the care options available for pregnancy and birth, especially for those of lower income, as well as the ways families can best prepare for their birth experience and advocate for themselves. Tia emphasizes how important it is for clients to feel free to report their negative experiences at hospitals – the hospitals need to know and other people need to know what happened! Shop around for your provider and have plenty of questions ready for a hospital tour, if birthing in a hospital. Tia has first-hand experience with serving clients facing a difficult birthing landscape, as well as mentoring the next generation of doulas through community agencies and organizations such as By My Side, Healthy Women Healthy Futures, and Carriage House. On Saturday, 29 February 2020, rising star, Kerwin, came passed the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie for his debut interview with Carl Wastie on the chart. The young artist, who hails from many corners of the Western Cape, is gaining momentum and popularity in Cape Town – and all his hard work paid off, when he joined Carl Wastie on the Kfm Top 40. During the interview, we got to learn more about Kerwin – including some interesting tidbits about his schooling – and almost names he went for as a performer, including one which would have given Early B a run for his money! Kerwin has teamed up with Wax Beach for a single called ‘By My Side’. Meet Joanna Forest, the UK’s number official number one selling classical soprano. Joanna she to fame in 2017 when she became the first independent artist to shoot straight to Number 1 in the Official Classical Album Charts with her debut album ‘Stars are Rising’. Whilst at Stage School Joanna was one of the youngest women to be diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of just 21. On the show today, Joanna talks about the impact this had on her life, and her career, and how it has helped shaped her musical journey. We also talk about Joanna has forged her career as an independent artist who has won much critical acclaim, including breaking records for going straight to number 1 with her debut album, her second alum ‘Rising Stars’ shooting straight to the top of the classical charts last year, creating her own show in the West End, her first public performance singing with Britain’s Got Talent star Paul Potts, and the song she sang ‘By My Side’ recorded to celebrate 60 years of Cruse making no. 1 in the Classical Singles Charts in 2019.
