In this episode… Many companies struggle to decide whether to handle a project in-house or outsource it to an agency. This challenge often involves balancing core competencies, budget constraints, and internal resources. What factors should influence your decision when leveraging external expertise to improve operational dynamics and competitiveness? According to Dr. Jeremy Weisz, several steps exist to effectively navigate this dilemma. Begin by assessing whether the task aligns with your business's core strengths; if it doesn't, consider outsourcing for the necessary expertise. Next, evaluate the long-term costs, including any potential hidden opportunity costs. Finally, take a closer look at your internal resources and their ability to manage the task. Sometimes, outsourcing relieves internal strain and leads to better outcomes, especially when specialized skills are required. Tune in to this episode of the Inspired Insider Podcast as John Corcoran interviews Dr. Jeremy Weisz, Co-founders of Rise25, about the decision-making process for outsourcing versus keeping projects in-house. They discuss key considerations such as cost comparison, the strategic importance of tasks, and how to leverage external agencies to build long-term relationships. Additionally, they touch on factors like client lifetime value, timeline management, and the impact on internal resources.

See the new study here: https://shop.mediagratiae.org/collections/christ-our-treasure We have spent the last four episodes dealing with the types of people God will and will not entrust with His words. But how can we, a fallen, weak, and sinful people know that we are capable of accomplishing the tasks or delivering the messages God has entrusted to us? God leads His children to difficult, and even impossible, situations every day. This is nothing new. In this week's episode, Dr. John Snyder and Teddy James come together again to share three such examples from Scripture. God led Moses, a man of slow speech, to deliver the Israelites out of Egypt. He chose David, the leader of a weak nation, to devote materials for the building of the Temple. He chose Paul, a blasphemer and murderer, to become an Apostle and missionary to the Gentiles. Each of these men had to ask two vital questions: Who am I? and Who is sending me to accomplish this task? Those are the questions every Christian must ask throughout the day-to-day tasks of life. Whether we are in the midst of the mundane or overwhelmed by the impossible, we must keep in mind Who it is that sends us, and who it is we are in Him. Want to listen to The Whole Counsel on the go? In this moment, professor of marketing and best-selling author, Adam Alter discusses how to become unstuck in life, work and relationships. The first thing is to understand what it actually means to become stuck, this often means judging whether to keep going with a particular path or to quit. In these instances Adam thinks it is best to think about the opportunity cost of leaving a goal behind, especially as research shows that it is nearly always a good idea to keep going beyond the point where it starts becoming hard as this is where growth happens. However, too often we quit as we view any sort of difficultly as a problem. One of the key ways that Adam thinks we can become unstuck is by simplifying a problem as much as possible, we can do this through what he calls a friction audit. This means knowing what is and isn't important, what's getting in the way, and how you can subtract it. How we live our life is determined, in many ways, on how we answer two vital questions: Who or what am I? Am I simply a body-mind, separate from other body-minds? Or, am I awareness, appearing as a body-mind and deeply connected to others? What is the nature of reality? Am I subject ineracting with a world of objects? Or, is there no separation between subject and objects, all of it just being awareness?

Lead Pastor Don Jackson continues the Romans series with a message titled, Vital Questions For My Security!. Preaching from Romans Chapter 8, Pastor Don explains the amazing good news of eternal security for believers in Christ Jesus. Online Message Notes
Often when I am preparing a message, I'm asking myself, "What is the point I'm going to make in this message?" Granted, that's a valid question. But there is a more important question to ask that goes a level higher than that: What's my objective for this message? To know if you were successful at something you've tried, you have to know what you were seeking to accomplish. This is true in every area of life but especially in preaching. This is why I nail down the objective of my message early on in the process of writing it. The objective drives the process from there. In this episode, I will show you how to arrive at the objective for a message and lay out one more vital question you must ask before writing any sermon.
"Halee, what happened to you was rape. And if you don't call it that, you're never going to get better," Halee's co-worker said to Halee when she finally told someone the true story 4 months later. Our guest today is the Christian spiritual formation and leadership scholar Dr. Halee Gray Scott, Ph.D. She speaks with a slight, charming Texas drawl. "I grew up in serious country," Texas-native Dr. Halee Gray Scott, Ph.D., begins her story by saying. "I swam in crocodile-infested waters" exploring the nooks and crannies of the East-Texas wilderness. Her childhood was at the same time idyllic for an insatiably curious contrarian kid such as herself, and at the same time quite frightening. There were tornadoes coming down from the uncontrollable, unpredictable and angry giant Texas sky. Later, her adventurous spirit directed her curiosity to scholarship into stable truths about Leadership and the Christian faith, about how young people's attitudes are being shaped by forces we didn't have when we were kids. Whereas the threat of a tornado kept her up at night, now it's the kids. It's the church, and what they're dealing with. It's what the churches and seminaries are or are not doing about it. Maybe they don't know what to do about it, or how to be. Halee's heart is as follows: she hopes to help others to get trained to fill the gap between the challenges facing Leadership and the training they receive. She first got on the radio at 15 years old. Now, she has a Ph.D., is a syndicated radio host, and author of Dare Mighty Things: Mapping the Challenges of Leadership for Christian Women. Her latest book is Not a Hopeless Case: 6 Vital Questions from Young Adults for a Church in Crisis, available April 2023. Check out Christian Curious Radio Program here: https://www.christiancurious.com/ In this wide-ranging discussion, we talk touch on the Kingdom of God and the ethics of eating meat, and naturally from that to hunting. I take the American Indian perspective, for the most part, on the uses of the animal. We camp out on Indian-stuff for a while, what it must have been like for the settlers. We touch on the role of women in ministry. This is a huge part of her professional research. We talk about her Washington Post article where she reported having been raped by her pastor in Texas when she was a young woman, how how she has and is dealing with that. You can find the article titled "#MeToo: I was Raped by my Pastor" published October 16, 2017, https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/wp/2017/10/16/metoo-i-was-raped-by-my-pastor/ It ran in the print edition of the Post. She had come to college there at UNT, Denton an atheist, and at the time of the rape, had only been a true Christian for 3 months. Does Halee still believe that there is a good God as revealed in the Bible ? Yes, she does. But it's been a journey, and continues to be. Her passion involves protecting the possibility of that belief in the soil of other vulnerable souls, as well. It's what motivates her research and directs her professional steps. It took her 4 months to tell anyone about it, and when she did, her co-worked used the appropriate term "rape." But it took her 15 years to come to terms with that word for what happened. And she had panic attacks for years every-time she went inside a church. But she's healing. We do not rush through this conversation. There is no rush. We take our time. We just enjoy the company and the conversation, and hope you do, too. I loved this review of Talya Miron-Shatz' new book Your Life Depends On It (certainly an attention-catching title!) “People who expect to stay healthy forever need not read this wonderful book. The rest of us should. With a fine combination of humor, compassion and vast knowledge, Talya Miron-Shatz offers clear and useful guidance for the hardest decisions of life.” Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman. I'll add my own humble praise for her work, for as I read, I remembered all the times I'd fumbled around at a doctor's office, forgetting to ask what I really needed to ask, even forgetting some important detail of what exactly was wrong! So I was eager to bring you her work, as literally your life may depend on it. She gives all sorts of great information in her book and in this interview, but she also offers the three most vital questions to ask you medical practitioner. A great thing to know! Her uncommonly broad perspective has crystalized into a worldview that sees health as a joint venture between patients, doctors, and even medical institutions themselves. No one side here can do this alone, or should be led to think they can . In an often funny, but very common-sense kind of way, Talya offers tangible tips on what you need to know, what you need to ask, and how you and your medical practitioner can make the best decisions for you. And the last thing she says I also love. She's on a mission that she knows is a very difficult one. But, as she says (and I'm quoting from memory...), "I have a voice. And I must use it to at least try to help." Important Links: BetterHelp, the #1 online therapy provider, has a special offer for you now! “When we focus on outcomes and take creative steps to go after that, we solve problems in service to those. It's not that the Outcome Orientation is all goodness and light and problem free, but that we can tackle the problems that stand in the way of we really want and really care about.” – David Emerald Womeldorff A 2022 Mindset Goal: An Outcome Orientation As we dive into a new year, David Emerald Womeldorff's discussion of problem mindset versus outcome mindset and the 3 Vital Questions is more relevant than ever. It's why I've recapped this popular episode from 2020, especially as we prepare to tackle fresh challenges. David discusses how all leadership begins with self-leadership, and how our mindset paves the way to a desired path. When we approach situations with a problem orientation, it drives anxious, reactive behavior and causes drama. In contrast, an outcome orientation keeps us focused on our passion: what we want to create and what's supporting and aligning with our desired outcome. As the author of The Power of TED and 3 Vital Questions: Transforming Workplace Drama, David makes complex topics easier to understand through his story-telling superpower. Revisiting this conversation reminds me of the power of resilience in the face of organizational challenges and refreshes me as I plan my 2022. Be the Victor, Not the Victim [24:36] “There are two major components to our stepping into and developing our capability as creators. One is to create outcomes. The second is that we as Creators own our capacity to choose our response to whatever is going on in our lives." Create and Generate [33:32] “What actions are you taking? Are you merely reacting to the problems of the moment, or are you taking creative and generative action, including the solving of problems in service to outcomes?” [35:03] “The three basic steps of dynamic tension are first and foremost, focus on the outcome and to be as clear as we can on the outcome, that the outcome can sometimes be clear and concrete – other times it may be more vague and directional.” Resources mentioned in this episode: 3 Vital Questions website: https://bit.ly/2Nsz927 The Power of TED: The Empowerment Dynamic: https://bit.ly/3sM9eCE 3 Vital Questions:Transforming Workplace Drama David Emerald Donna Zajonc Stephen Karpman's Drama Triangle Bob Anderson's episode on Rise Leaders Radio The Leadership Circle Profile Robert Fritz: Structural Tension Rise Leaders' newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/426e78bc9538/subscribe

Ask these 3 Powerful Questions... when facing change, feeling stuck or dealing with workplace drama. They'll help you level up the results you get.Where are you placing your focus? How are you relating? What actions are you taking? Read extended show notes on Rise Leaders Radio websiteDavid has followed up his wildly popular and super sticky book, TED: The Empowerment Dynamic with 3 Vital Questions: Transforming Workplace Drama. When we answer these questions and upshift our perspective, we become more resilient and more likely to create the results we desire. This just in: David has won the Independent Press Award's Distinguished Favorites of 2020 for 3 Vital Questions!Energy Follows AttentionWe're built for survival. Our default mode is to scan for danger and then react. If we want to create a wonderful life and build great places to work, then we have to move past problem-solving. We have to build habits that support designing futures rather than reacting to problems. David Emerald's 3 Vital Questions takes our focus from a problem to an outcome orientation.Highlights from the InterviewThese excerpts have been edited for context.[07:10] ...The first vital question is, Where are you putting your focus? The subtext to that is, are you focusing on problems, or are you focusing on outcomes? What informs that question is an organizing framework that I call FISBE. FISBE is an acronym that stands for Focus, Inner State and BEhavior. The idea is that what we focus on engages some emotional response. That inner state that then drives our behavior. [17:16] ...Vital Question Two is, How are you relating? How are you relating to others? How are you relating to your experience? And how are you relating to yourself? Are you relating in ways that produce, or perpetuate drama? Or are you relating in ways that empower others and yourself to be more resourceful, resilient and innovative? If our orientation is problem-focused, fear-based and reactive in nature, that creates the environment and the conditions for the Dreaded Drama Triangle, or DDT, which I'll explain in more detail in just a moment. I also want to say that if we can consciously choose to operate as much as possible out of that Outcome Orientation, where we're focused on what we care about, that our inner state is more passion-based and we're taking creative action, that creates the conditions for a different set of relationship roles and dynamics that we call TED or The Empowerment Dynamic.[31:29]: What actions are you taking? Are you merely reacting to the problems of the moment, or are you taking creative and generative action, including the solving of problems in service to outcomes? Dynamic tension informs the Third Vital Question.[32:42]: The three basic steps of dynamic tension are first and foremost, focus on the outcome and to be as clear as we can on the outcome, that the outcome can sometimes be clear and concrete, other times it may be more vague and directional. Then the second step is to step back and tell the truth about, what's my current reality in relation to the outcome? That engages a tension between what we want and what we're currently experiencing. The third piece of dynamic tension is to then determine and take baby steps that move from our current reality toward our envisioned outcome. Baby steps to me are things that as an individual, or team, we can choose to do that tend to be short-term and in organizational terms. LeeAnn, it could be as simple as, ‘I need to have a conversation’, or ‘we need to go gather this information’. It's just whenever the next little step is, that’s going to help us move toward and/or get clearer about the outcome.More Links from this EpisodeDownload the Transcript 3 Vital Questions websiteThe Power of TED: The Empowerment Dynamic3 Vital Questions:Transforming Workplace DramaDavid EmeraldDonna ZajoncStephen Karpman's Drama TriangleBob AndersonThe Leadership Circle ProfileRobert Fritz: Structural TensionStagenAfter listening to the interview and reading the notes, I wonder what your takeaway is?Thanks for tuning in!LeeAnn Your ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts are greatly appreciated! These four questions will change your design business. [sc name="pod_ad"]Your job as a designer is to solve problems, not to create pretty designs. When you embrace the notion that your job is to provide a solution to whatever dilemma your client is facing, a few things will happen. You’ll start to understand your client’s needs better. Your clients will show more respect for what you do. You’ll be able to charge more money for your services. After all, a solution to a problem is much more valuable than a pretty picture, no matter how well designed that picture is. Before you can find the perfect solution, you need to figure out precisely what the problem is your client is facing. The only way to do that is to ask questions, lots of questions. In episode 15 of the Resourceful Designer podcast, I shared 50 questions you can ask before every design project. Those questions cover a wide variety of topics, including: Questions about the company hiring you. Questions about their target market. Questions about their current brand. Questions about their design preferences. Questions about a project’s scale, timeframe and budget. What I didn’t get into on that episode are the four most valuable questions you can ask your design clients. Questions that will get to the root of the problem for which they need your services. Questions that can either change or narrow down the focus of a project. Questions that may allow you to charge higher rates because as I said earlier, solutions to problems are much more valuable than pretty designs. Here are the four most valuable questions you can ask your design clients. Question #1 - Why do you need this? The power in asking, "Why do you need this?" is that the question is unexpected. When was the last time you tried to buy something, and the salesperson asked you why you wanted to buy it? I can’t remember either. That’s why this question is so powerful. It gets the client thinking, and it gets them to open up. It doesn’t matter if a client is coming to you for a logo, a website, a poster or a trade show display. And it doesn’t matter if you think the reason is apparent, ask your client why they need this? And then listen carefully to what they say for some real gems. The deep insights that could completely change your way of thinking about the project or help you narrow down your focus to one small area. Question #2 - What results do you expect from this project? The results a client is expecting can often change the direction of a project. As a designer, you may see better options to reach those results than what the client is expecting. For example, your client may be asking you to design a poster for an upcoming event. However, you can explain to them, based on their expectations, that a postcard may produce better results. Listen to the podcast episode to hear my story of how this question helped me deliver a better solution for one of my clients. Question #3 - How will you judge the success of this project? This is another great question that can change the direction of a project. If you’re building a website for a client, you may make different design choices depending on how a client will judge the site successful. If the client is looking for increased website traffic, you may design it one way. If sales measure success, then you may create it differently. And if it’s to elevate their brand image, then you may design it a third way. How a client judges a design project successful can have a significant influence on how you tackle the project. For example, You're hired to produce a poster for a local school’s drama club. Will success be measured by ticket sales, or by the awareness the production brings to the school's drama program? In one case, you will design a poster with emphasis on how and where to purchase tickets, with only a little focus on the school itself. In the other case, you will design a poster with more emphasis on the school and keep only a small portion of the poster for ticket information. That’s why asking, “How will you judge the success of this project?” is so important. The most important question of all. Question #4 - And What else? "And what else?" The power of this simple question is endless. Why do you need this? Ok, great, ok... And what else? What results do you expect from this? Mmm, mmhmm. And what else? How will you judge the success of this project? Perfect, that’s great, I understand. And what else? Use this short and yet amazing question during any conversation you have with your client. Tell me about your target market. And what else? What marketing approach have you tried in the past? And what else? Do you see the power of this question? By asking “and what else?” you are; Showing your interest to your client, which helps build your relationship. Getting them to open up to you, making them feel more comfortable talking to you. Getting additional information your client wouldn’t have offered freely. Asking, "And what else?" will give you valuable information you can use to shape the perfect solution to your client's problem. After all, don't you wish you had more information before tackling any problem? Four questions. When you put these four questions to use, you'll find not only will your clients appreciate you more. But you’ll be able to create much better designs for them because of the information you’ve gathered from asking them. Do you use these four questions? Let me know by leaving a comment for this episode. Questions of the Week Submit your question to be featured in a future episode of the podcast by visiting the feedback page. This week’s question comes from Jade I have a huge predicament! Im in the midst of drafting a rebrand. Im doing drafts for 2 different reps (2 different contracts repping the same company) that know each other has contracted me for their design ideas. Both paying out of their own pockets. Essentially they will be presenting these designs to a board to make a decision. Now the board themselves have been involved with one of the reps, contacting me directly to further refine ideas. My questions is.... should I just can both original contracts and redo one with the company itself, that way everyones ideas go through the same avenue? Or continue the way it is and feel like s**t cause Im charging everyone for the same rebrand? To find out what I told Jade, you’ll have to listen to the podcast. Guest David Emerald : David Emerald Womeldorff is the Creator-in-Chief of the 3 Vital Questions® leadership frameworks proven to powerfully boost teamwork and productivity. Thousands of people and organizations have achieved breakthroughs by applying his self-leadership techniques and attending his seminars worldwide. David and his wife and business partner Donna Zajonc (sajon) MCC have developed the frameworks that form the basis of the engaging workplace fable, 3 Vital Questions:Transforming Workplace Drama. (Please listen to the podcast episode or read the transcript to hear explanations, stories and examples.) In this episode, Dr. Jessica Higgins and David Emerald discuss: Understanding the Drama Triangle and the three roles involved. The distinction between victimization and victimhood. Learning the Empowerment Dynamic and the three roles. The opposite of a victim position is a creator position. How telling a person that they are acting as a victim will trigger reactivity. Within the Drama Triangle, we focus on the problem. Within the Empowerment Dynamic, the focus is on the desired outcome. Key Takeaways: The three roles in the Drama Triangle are victim, challenger, and rescuer. The antidote to the Drama Triangle roles is the Empowerment Dynamic roles, creator, persecutor, and helper. It’s natural to look at a problem and try to solve the problem. When the intention and the focus on the issue, it can spin us into this very hopeless, not empowered, lack of control place. The way we can escape the drama triangle is by shifting our focus to what we want to experience. For example,“What is it that we really want?” "A problem is rarely ever solved from within the victim orientation." — David Emerald If you have a topic you would like me to discuss; please contact me by clicking on the “Ask Dr. Jessica Higgins” button here. Introduction: David Emerald and Donna Zajonc are a husband and wife team and also business partners & founders of the Bainbridge Leadership Center. David is the author of the best selling book The Power of Ted and has recently published his second book called 3 vital questions, transforming workplace drama. Donna is a Master Certified Coach and together they teach, facilitate and speak to the power of TED and the 3 Vital Questions framework to transform workplace drama. Podcast episode summary: This episode describes what it means to be human and how we succumb to drama. Stephen Karpman described a social model of human interaction called the drama triangle. As humans in reaction to problems we often jump onto the drama triangle and assume one of three roles, the Victim, Persecutor or Rescuer. The antidote is another triangle, called The Empowerment Dynamic or TED, which speaks to our inherent capacity to be creative. Three roles comprise TED, the Creator, Challenger and Coach. David's next book Three Vital Questions is set in an organisational context and speaks to how we are thinking, relating and acting in our business, often informed by our way of being in our personal lives. TED can be described as a self-Leadership book and the 3 Vital Questions an answer to our Leadership and teamwork choices in work. David and Donna share the auspices of their books, the motivation behind the writing and share what each involves through the course of this episode. Each book is a very digestible fable that perhaps masks the inherent complexity and nuances behind the material. This is not a Pollyanna type answer to drama but a conscious consciousness and call for us to wake up to our patterns and begin to exercise choice. Donna and David liken themselves to translators condensing complex human conditions into digestible and applicable frameworks David started by sharing our very essence is as creators. We have the capacity to be in choice about the outcomes we want, to think about how we are thinking and to raise our awareness about how we are relating to others and ourselves. We then create by taking baby steps. The core of what David and Donna teach is shifting from a set of relations/roles and dynamic in the dreaded drama triangle or DDT for short when we are in the dance of Victim, Persecutor and Rescuer to a more empowering set of relations/roles or dynamic called TED. In order to develop our inherent capacity as creators we can cultivate the antidote roles of Creator, Challenger and Coach called TED. We have an internal DDT triangle and TED available to us as well as these roles in relation to others. A good start is to self diagnose how we relate to ourselves and then learn to pause, stop and allow for the whisperer creator to emerge. Do not be numb or seduced by the inherent simplicity of the models they belie a lot of unconscious unravelling and neurological wiring. The roles are dynamic but the triangles serve to depict a static depiction of dynamic reality. Once we can notice we have the capacity to shift and alter our operational models. These roles can be enacted by organisations in the culture they create, between sub-groups or functions and of course on teams as well. Donna shared a story of a team who once they understood the DDT and the choice to pursue TED they were able to first change the language on their website that was predominantly problem focused. The work moving from DDT to TED is not simplistic or “Pollyannaesque” The work is often beset with problems. The trick is to first outline what outcome/purpose/mission the team wants to achieve and then enumerate the problems to be encountered in service of an outcome Problem-solving is still part of the work but the difference is we are not reacting to problems coming at us. The important role of Coach on TED. People are very able to tell you what they don't want but less able to articulate what they desire or really want. A Leader or leader as a coach can learn to help people get on the balcony and not be subject to persistent reactivity. Two different mindsets are explored in TED and 3 Vital Questions. The first is in a continuum of focus on problems. The second is an orientation towards outcomes supported by facilitation and enquiry to get at the creator essence in all of us. Not an easy step for many Leaders to become leaders as coaches, especially when we have been brought up in organisations were expertise is prised. 3 Vital questions are shared in a fable. 3 questions are supported by a subtext of questions to bring the TED framework to life. 1st Question: Where are you putting your focus? The subtext is whether your focus is on problems that evoke an inner state of anxiety or whether you are tapping into your passion and care that is outcome oriented. 2nd Question: How are you relating, which speaks to David's first book TED. Are you relating from a problem mindset or an outcome mindset and from the archetype roles, which accompany, Victim, Persecutor and Rescuer or Creator, Challenger and Coach. 3rd Question: What actions are you taking with the subtext of in the moment problems or creative and generative actions in service of a bigger purpose. The work in teams and in organisational life is about awakening our inner observer. We have to be mindful that regression is part of the work-the question why can't we do this all of the time requires compassion and an understanding that we are fallible human beings. Our neurology is organised in such a fashion that we are wired, not hard-wired, to keep ourselves safe. This explains why the DDT is live in all of us. Our work is to upgrade our human operating system It is also worthy to note that the DDT roles are not always bad or unhelpful sometimes they are needed but the idea is not to stay in them. Conscious consciousness is required along with practice. Quotable Quotes: “We are always at a point of choice” “Our essence is as Creators” “When we pause, stop and breath, the whisper of Creator, Challenger and Coach can rise” “Value of model of DDT and TED is static depiction of a dynamic reality” “Get to the balcony and not in subject to persistent reactivity” “Compassion is fuel for upgrading our Neurology” Resources: the following includes the resources we alluded to over the course of our conversation The Power of Ted, https://powerofted.com/, 3 Vital Questions, https://3vitalquestions.com Subscribe to Free Friday Newsletter on both websites Books available in Print through Amazon, Audible and as an e-book on Kindle also on Amazon
“You can invest, you can learn new techniques, you can build a better funnel, but here's the one thing you need to know before you invest in any of that: You are the hero of your business.” - Janelle Have you ever invested in a new program and thought to yourself, “This is it! This is the breakthrough I've been waiting for in my business?” Have you ever ended a course with disappointment when the results were far less than you imagined? Each day we're surrounded by new courses, programs, marketing, and ad agencies, and opportunities to invest thousands in the hopes of growing our business. Here's the thing, CEOs, in order to achieve the sustainable growth in our business that you desire, you have to realize you are the hero of your business. No one else has the power to take your business to new places. This doesn't have to always be hard or exhausting, but it does require strategy. ”No one is going to swoop in and save you and take your company to new heights except you.” - Janelle As you plan for 2019, there are some key questions you can ask yourself as you set goals. Have you answered all of these within your own 2019 plan for success? How are you committed to showing up for your business in 2019? How are you going to show up for your family and yourself? How are you planning on taking your business to new heights? Do you have an action plan of how you will move forward? Where will your company invest in 2019? If you are taking all of the profit as income, you will eventually run your business into the ground? “Plan out your year now, so that you can align your business and income goals with the other things you want to accomplish.” - Janelle If you haven't already, now is the time to make your 2019 goals. Getting by yourself, free from distractions, is the first step to creating powerful goals that maximize your ability to do what you really love. Others' opinions and thoughts can hinder your ability to really visualize the goals that will work best for you and your business. After you have completed the goals, then you can consult with trusted individuals. If you have a mastermind group or a network that gives you business support, ask if they will review your goals and give feedback. Keep your finished goals visible, you should be looking back at them often. Finally, what are you working towards? Celebrating the accomplishment of those milestones can be a strong motivator. Make this a year in which you take charge of your business in a new way. Remember, YOU are the hero of your business. You have the power to take your company to new heights in 2019, CEOs. Let's get to it! Some Topics we talk about in this episode: Introduction - 1:06 You are the Hero of Your Business - 3:23 Vital Questions for Planning 2019 - 5:17 Janelle's Tried and True Planning Process - 8:24 Wrap-up and Takeaways - 14:33 How to get involved Follow @theparttimeceopodcast on Instagram for special, podcast related updates! Business routines are challenging to build because there’s always that fear of missing out or making mistakes. Why isn’t there a size-fits-all routine we can all follow? Why should we ask ourselves questions instead of using to-do lists? Why is it important to always keep an eye on generating new leads? In this episode, I talk about 3 questions I ask myself every day before I start working. In the realm of making money, knowing what are you going to sell and how you are going to sell is extremely important. -Dana Malstaff 3 Things We Learned From This Episode The first thing we should ask ourselves in the morning is, “Do we have anything that needs to get done in order for someone else to do their job?” If we skip this step, we slow down everyone else on our team, so it’s important to get this out of the way. The second question is linked to our most important projects: “What is the next task we need to complete in order to move the project forward?” Ideally, we should have up to 3 projects if we work with a team and one project if we work alone. The third question is, “What can we do today to ensure we’re making money?” Each day we have to think about what tactic drives the most business and the largest chunk of income, and then we need to put it on repeat. Focusing on driving income should be an everyday priority, but it gets complicated when there are no leads in the pipeline. This usually happens because we aren’t clear on what we sell and what problems we solve. It’s not enough to work on visibility. We have to know what our packages are and how we can bring value to people.

Drama is all around us. We live in a world that feeds on it. Try and think of a day when you got together with friends and no one had an interpersonal drama to talk about. It is ubiquitous. What about a day at work that didn’t involve drama with another person. Have you had one of those? What if we told you there are three questions you could ask yourself to be well on your way to transforming your relationships? What if these questions helped you save time and energy away from drama? How would that be for a life reframe? You are in luck! Jo-Anne is certified to deliver 3 Vital Questions - The Empowerment Dynamic (TED). A program that brings back vitality and effectiveness to your relationships. You may be familiar with the well known drama triangle. It’s where we get stuck in roles that don’t resolve the issues but perpetuate them. If you’re not, these roles are centered around a Victim mindset where we often play the role of victim, persecutor or rescuer, and sometimes all three! In this episode Jo-Anne walks us through the questions you need to ask to move from the drama triangle to The Empowerment Dynamic. The central role here is that of creator and you can also help others by being a challenger or a coach. There is a lot of great information in this episode and Jo-Anne was just scratching the surface. If you want to know more about how TED and the 3 Vital Questions can transform your relationships and your organization contact Jo-Anne at 226-218-8099.CHECK OUT THIS SPECIAL OFFER FOR OUR LISTENERS: Jo-Anne is offering an opportunity to access her coaching at a discounted rate, plus sign up for her newsletter and get a free TED worksheet to get you well on the way to becoming the creator of your life. It's been 60 episodes and during that time we have interviewed 15 guests. What a truly amazing experience it has been. It really is an honour to interview people and learn from them and their stories. On this episode we review lessons learned from some of our guests. We each share what actions we’ve taken as a result. We are all on this journey of living and leading our best lives. It is one thing to learn and gather information, but true leadership lies in taking action. That action could be a shift in mindset, which ultimately impacts our thoughts and our actions, or it could be larger change in the way we live and work. We invite you to join us in your own reflection and revisit some of these episodes. So here they are in order of our discussion!Episode 9: Our interview with Jeff Hendler on transitions and resilience. In this episode, chosen by Sandy, we talk about resilience. How do you view resilience in your life? It's an important topic.Jeff challenged us to think about two things:1. How do you view the world?2. How do you view yourself? As a result of this episode Sandy did a lot of thinking about how she was dealing with her own story of resilience and strength. It is a very personal conversation that we hope will help anyone struggling with resilience.Episode 17: Deborah Bakti - Embrace the GapJo-Anne resonated with this interview - especially the idea of slowing down when you are in the midst of a transition. There is a stage between your current reality and your ideal vision of your future often referred to as 'the gap'. Deborah shared the GAAP acronym with us: Growth - Acceptance - Awareness and Perspective as tools for navigating the gap. As Jo-Anne identified, we can be in such a rush to get through it we we don’t embrace the gap and miss out on the growth available to us during that time. A big action Jo-Anne took as a result of this interview was to become a certified facilitator of The Empowerment Dynamic (now renamed the 3 Vital Questions - a guide to work and life). We'll be featuring more on this program in an upcoming episode.Episode 35 - Ezzie Spencer How the moon can help you thriveHave you ever wondered about the moon cycles? Lawyer - activist turned lunar abundance coach and author Ezzie Spencer will give you a different perspective on how the moon can be a guide to creating rhythms that bring balance into your life. This topic could easily get really woo-woo but it doesn't! In fact, it becomes quite practical and grounded. Sandy learned, "The moon cycle gives us permission to have rhythms in our life. It helps us to focus on rest and self-care and not just feeling like we should always be going/doing. It keeps us from that all or nothing way we live." And a result she has started tracking the moon and letting it inform her schedule.Episode 28 - Erin Power: Alter your relationship with food to feel goodWe interviewed Erin Power ten months ago. And it continues to be one of our most discussed episodes in conversations with our listeners. Jo-Anne has been friends with Erin since she moved to Canada and has been watching her social media as she developed her business. Erin’s story was that she was a fat, sick, fitness instructor. Jo-Anne shared, "Erin is very knowledgeable about health and fitness. When
