OTTplay Now You Know - Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny 2023: 6 lesser-known facts about the Harrison Ford film - Episode 107Hollywood legend Harrison Ford returns as the iconic swashbuckling adventurer Indiana Jones or Indy in the fifth instalment of the franchise. An archaeologist, professor and full-time explorer, Indy is often dubbed a grave-digger who inevitably finds himself in near-death situations as he takes on fierce adversaries to retrieve objects of immense cultural and historical significance.Directed by James Mangold, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, is set to release in theatres on the 29th of June in India. So for today's Now You Know, we take a look at some of the lesser-known facts about the film. The film's first script reportedly featured several jokes aimed at Indiana's age. However, lead star Harrison Ford asked them to be removed as he felt that it would distract the audience from the film's immersive experience. Well, we feel the jabs would've also been a tad ageist if not entirely insensitive and it was a good call to nip them in the bud.As many fans of the franchise would already know, this film was scheduled to release in 2021 to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the first film, Raiders of the Lost Ark. However, the COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with a few injuries Ford suffered during production, delayed the film – eventually pushing it back by two years.Steven Spielberg was vehemently opposed to the idea of using digital de-aging technology on Harrison Ford for the film, all the way back in 2012, when the plans for a fifth film were being discussed. However, the technology has significantly improved since 2012, and it appears new director James Mangold does not feel as strongly about de-ageing technology as Speilberg did. Ford confirmed that de-ageing technology is used in the film for flashback sequences, in an interview with late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert. In the trailer, Indiana appears to be wearing a gold wedding band. It could be a hint that he is still married to Karen Allen's character Marion. Even though Allen did not feature in any of the trailers, she is listed as a cast member. The film's primary antagonist, Jürgen Voller, is played by Mads Mikkelsen. His character is reportedly modelled after Wernher von Braun, a former Nazi who was among the 1600 ex-Nazi scientists who were brought to the United States to work on the top secret government program called Operation Paperclip. Wernher von Braun served as director of the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, and was instrumental in the US winning the ‘space race' during the Cold War. There are even theories as to whether the German scientists, including von Braun, were truly ‘former Nazis' and if they ever truly stopped believing in the principles of the Third Reich. Ironically, it is a Disney TV show that showcased von Braun as an American hero, and the Indiana Jones franchise is owned by Disney, with its latest film featuring a villain inspired by von Braun.Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who is best known for helming Killing Eve and as the star and showrunner of Fleabag, essays the role of Indy's goddaughter Helena Shaw. Her character has essentially replaced Shia LaBeouf's character, Mutt, Indy's estranged son from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Director James Mangold revealed that he based Waller-Bridge's character on Barbara Stanwyck's character Jean Harrington from the 1941 film The Lady Eve. Well that's the Now you know episode for today on OTTplay, until the next one it's your host Nikhil signing out.Aaj kya dekhoge OTTplay se poochoWritten by Ryan Gomez

Amazon Studios has hired Phoebe Waller-Bridge to write a TV series as part of a potential “Tomb Raider” franchise that would include TV, film, and games. Waller-Bridge could also be involved in a potential movie. The TV series will be produced by Amazon Studios' former Head of Comedy Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt, with Legendary also said to be involved. This is part of Amazon's multi-platform approach which also includes a new “Tomb Raider” single-player game. The “Tomb Raider” franchise was previously held by MGM but is now owned by Amazon Studios, which is handling the film-TV universe and not MGM. The franchise was previously made into a movie series with Angelina Jolie and a reboot with Alicia Vikander, but a sequel had been delayed by the pandemic. The “Tomb Raider” franchise started as a hit action-adventure game in 1996. -------------------- *Check Out All Our Podcasts!* Geek Freaks Podcast: https://linktr.ee/GeekFreaks Pushing Buttons: https://linktr.ee/PushingButtonsPodcast TrekFreaks: https://linktr.ee/TrekFreaks Headlines: https://tinyurl.com/2p8bvu6d Geek Freaks Interviews: https://linktr.ee/GeekFreaksInterviews Outlast Podcast: https://linktr.ee/OutlastPodcast Round Three: https://linktr.ee/RoundThree Disney Moms Gone Wrong: https://linktr.ee/disneymomsgonewrong Sloop: https://www.patreon.com/GeekFreakspodcast -------------------- *Hang Out With Us!* Discord: https://discord.gg/6Jrvyb2 Twitter: twitter.com/geekfreakspod Facebook: facebook.com/groups/227307812330853/ Instagram: instagram.com/geekfreakspodcast E-mail: thegeekfreakspodcast@gmail.com Twitch: twitch.tv/geekfreakspodcast Site: thegeekfreakspodcast.com --------------------- *Support Us!* Patreon: https://patreon.com/GeekFreakspodcast Store: redbubble.com/people/GeekFreaks

Jess's guest this week is composer Isobel Waller-Bridge. Best known for her work in TV and film, Isobel has scored The Split, Fleabag, Emma, Vita & Virginia and many more, but she's also a prolific composer for the theatre and is known for her evocative contemporary classical and electronic music for the concert hall. Jess and Isobel sit down for a listening party of the music they love the most - Isobel offers some stunning moments of calm by Hinako Omori and Emily Hall and a tuba jam by Sons of Kemet, while Jess interupts the peace with Sibelius at his most joyously epic, an intimate song by Noah Yorke and possibly the funkiest string quartet ever written by Ravel. In this episode I'm talking to Award Winning TV, Film and Theatre composer and sound designer Isobel Waller-Bridge. In this episode of Sync Music Matters Isobel reveals how she finds musical inspiration in anything but music. In fact when talking about inspiration, she references people like Francis Bacon, Tilda Swinton and Anne Carson. But Isobel also shares her love for composers like Ennio Moriccone, Danny Elfman, Gustav Mahler and Wendy Carlos amongst others. We also dig into the prevalence of drone based music in modern film score and her love for it... as well as Detroit Techno. We go under the skin with her work on the Netflix series Munich: The Edge of War as well as her recent project with the Philharmonia as part of their climate change season. We also talk about her electronic score for Vita and Virginia and how the instructions from director Chanya Button were “lazers and no piano!” Isobel Waller-Bridge Credits Isobel Waller-Bridge's recent TV soundtracks include, Emma, Black Mirror - Rachel Jack and Ashley Too, Vanity Fair, Vita & Virginia, The Split and Fleabag. And recent theatre credits include Woyzeck at the Old Vic and Knives in Hens at the Donmar Warehouse Isobel's eclectic scores move seamlessly between sweeping orchestral and analogue electronica, often blurring the lines between music and sound design. In this episode, Isobel Waller-Bridge joins Rhianna and Michael to wax lyrical about the world of composition. As she recalls creating the unapologetic score for Fleabag in her bedroom and ditching the piano for period drama Vita & Virginia, find out where her inspiration comes from, how to score a sexy priest and why she enjoys ruffling feathers with an unconventional composition. This is Wrap Party, the podcast that toasts the excellence of the creatives and craftspeople working behind-the-scenes on some of your favourite films and TV shows.SHOW NOTESWATCHINGFleabag (TV series) A generation-defining TV show about an unapologetic young woman navigating grief, lust and love, created by none other than Isobel's sister, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, featuring a grungy score perfect for head-banging. Watch on Prime Video. Jurassic Park (film) John Williams' elegiac score is arguably one of the most iconic themes ever created and perhaps his most hummable, after Jaws. Isobel Waller-Bridge talks about living and working with her sister, Phoebe, in the second of our special episodes with Scala Radio. The composer talks about life in lockdown, Fleabag, Vita and Virginia and composing electronic scores for period film and TV. She’s joined by Anne Nikitin, who scored the award-winning film American Animals. The two compare notes about their experiences in a male-dominated field, and their conflicting thoughts about being labelled ‘female composers’. They also explore the difference between Hollywood and Britain’s film industry. Anna’s third guest is an Emmy and Academy Award winning composer who has been scoring blockbuster films for over two decades: Rachel Portman. Rachel describes working with Mike Leigh on Life is Sweet, Lynne Ramsay on Ratcatcher and gives a fascinating insight into her working life, from indie movies to big budget Hollywood. Our guest on this week's Soundtracking was due to be joining Edith for a live show at the Bridport Film Festival in a couple of weeks time - but you know what sadly put an end to that. Not to be defeated, we're delighted to say that composer Isobel Waller-Bridge joined us from her home via the miracles of technology to discuss many of the brilliant projects she's been involved with. As well as providing the score for Autumn De Wilde's Emma, Isobel has also done fabulous work on Vita and Virginia, Black Mirror, Vanity Fair and Fleabag, which saw her collaborate with sister Phoebe.
At the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Phoebe Waller-Bridge stepped on stage to debut her new one-woman show, Fleabag. Now, six years on, that character has grown into a full-on phenomenon, with a sell-out runs in London’s West End and off-Broadway, and two critically acclaimed award-winning television series. In this podcast, Waller-Bridge joins host of The Guilty Feminist, Deborah Frances-White, on stage at Southbank Centre to discuss all things Fleabag. Listen to the pair discuss the how the camera came to represent outside pressure to deliver a performance; combatting loneliness by trying to find connections through sex and family relationships, and how the character of the priest became ‘Hot Priest’. Waller-Bridge also explains how Fleabag evolved from a ten minute monologue written to try and make her friend laugh and cry, and how one drunk woman’s feedback propelled it to the current phenomenon it is.
The British Comedy Reserve features digging through the gold mine of British comedy, be it on tv, film, radio, stage or wherever we can be bothered to find it. Laurie Owen dives into the history and ideas around the classic and the cult comedies to find overlooked gems. Richard is also there, apparently. This episode is the first of three on the BBC's Fleabag, written and starring Pheobe Waller-Bridge. A young woman struggling with the expectations that society has for a 20 something, never mind her own sexuality. Fleabag is a proper international phenomenon. So much so, we had so much to say in one episode. we've broken it up into three episodes. This is part 1 of 3. Welcome back! It's Season 2 of The WALKING Podcast. Brrrrrr. The theme of Season 2 will be BUILDING BRIDGES (SEO interlude: Jeff Bridges, Phoebe Bridgers, Phoebe Waller-Bridge,) so let's bundle up and take a walk to an actual, new bridge, built by local non-profits and civil servants! Setting out at dawn, as a sleepy Thanksgiving weekend comes to a close, we'll hear along the way: the crunkle of boots on frost-stiffened grass; vigorous sniffling; the startling, low moan of a fog horn; a prudent jogger approaching from behind; a neighborly convergence full of cheer. This week's walk is sponsored by Mat Honan on behalf of birds. Mat encourages us to appreciate birds and to help them. You can check this out, he says.
With Mike out on hiatus, Ryan gets a little help from our friends. Dean, Host of the podcasts Podscure and How Are Ya Now?, sits down and talks grief and family dysfunction in the series Fleabag. The angry, grief-riddled woman tries to heal while rejecting anyone who tries to help her, but Fleabag continues to keep up her bravado through it all. Sometimes you take a risk on a passion project and it works out great, leading you to professional success beyond your wildest dreams. Other times, you realize that you probably should go back to school and get that degree. We’ve got examples of both in this week’s Women of Influence podcast preview, our off-week mini-episodes in which we share snippets of our full interviews with some of the most powerful women in Columbus’ business community, and I share some commentary on notable news of the week or other interesting factoids about women in business. This week’s commentary is all about Phoebe Waller-Bridge, newly minted winner of multiple Emmys whose show, Fleabag, has won hearts and minds even as I myself haven’t quite been able to make myself watch it. As you’ll hear in the episode, Waller-Bridge’s now beloved television show began its life as a Kickstarter campaign for a theatrical performance just six years ago. On the other end of the spectrum, our guest this week was gracious enough to share the story of a big dream she had that didn’t work out: opening a nightclub. Don’t worry, things still turned out okay for Christie Angel, the CEO of YWCA Columbus and an accomplished veteran of former Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman’s administration. We’ll share our full conversation with the well-connected Columbus power player next Friday, but for now, check out our preview episode to hear how Angel found her way from aspiring nightclub owner to nonprofit CEO and community leader.
Fresh off of the multiple Emmy wins for Fleabag and Killing Eve, we discuss our love of one of the smartest writer/director/actors in TV - Phoebe Waller-Bridge. We discuss the second seasons of Killing Eve and Fleabag, two creations of this absurdly talented multi-hyphenate (ok – and maybe we go on a teeny tiny tangent and discuss how some series are better than others at concluding). Then, Amita interviews costume designer Marci Rodgers about her work on Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have it and BlacKkKlansman. Finally, Amita reviews Sean’s Big Sell from last week – the Netflix series, Special, and then sells him a new singer, Masego, who is headed to the Afropunk stage later this summer. A Different Tweed: Fashion Conversations with Bronwyn Cosgrave
The Met Gala, Killing Eve, Phoebe Waller-Bridge – on the latest episode of A Different Tweed, meet Elizabeth Saltzman, the fashion stylist who is involved in all of these cultural phenomena. Tune in to hear Elizabeth explain her trajectory from working on Vogue and Vanity Fair to rank among the Hollywood Reporter’s top 25 “Power Stylists” because of her work with Waller-Bridge as well as Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer plus Gwyneth Paltrow and Saoirse Ronan, who she is dressing for the 2019 Met Gala. Elizabeth is the first stylist to feature on A Different Tweed and her episode is a special audio diary. Recorded at Claridge’s hotel in London, she recalls leaving behind her Upper East Side family home in the 1980s to immerse herself in downtown New York’s avant-garde fashion scene and its vibrant club culture. “Night life was my university,” she reflects. Hear how she changed it up at the turn of the new millennium, leaving New York, when she was nine months pregnant, to live in London where deploying her clout as Vanity Fair’s fashion director, she helped nurture a new generation of designers who established the British metropolis as a bonafide fashion capital. She also divulges how preparing Vanity Fair’s annual Oscar party prepped her for her current role as a movie star stylist. “I was styling people before I knew I was a ‘stylist’,” she reflects. Elizabeth also talks about how a mix of Killing Eve creepiness, sustainability and the #MeToo movement all inspire her craft.

“I just want to cry… all the time” This week we’re watching Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s dark comedy ‘Fleabag’, starring Waller-Bridge herself, Sian Clifford, Bill Paterson, Olivia Colman and Hugh Dennis. Both Rachael and Andy share stories of how their own mental health issues affected their first viewings of the series, which the whole team concur is an astounding piece of television. While Paul wonders if the play from which the series originated might cure his aversion to the theatre, Rachael yet again finds herself falling in love with a captivating leading lady. As Andy celebrates the presence of Bill Paterson with a simple one-word declaration, Olivia Colman’s dead on portrayal of an evil stepmother brings out Rachael’s inner slapper! And Paul uses the presence of Hugh Dennis as an opportunity to quote the ‘Mary Whitehouse Experience’ sketches that he knows word for word. Elsewhere, Andy takes a look at the time-honoured art of fourth-wall breaking and asks the all-important question: Is ‘Deadpool’ any more revolutionary than ‘Lovejoy’? This week’s scale: BBC3 or ITV3
