We're kicking off the holiday season the best way we know how — with food, fun, and a dash of Disney magic. We start our day at The Plaza Restaurant on Main Street U.S.A. for a cozy holiday lunch — complete with that perfect view of Cinderella Castle and all the nostalgic charm The Plaza is known for. Hear our real-time reactions as we dive into seasonal offerings, discuss portion sizes, pricing, and that classic Main Street comfort food that never goes out of style. After lunch, we take a quick stroll down Main Street to scope out this year's holiday merch lineup — from must-grab ornaments to the newest festive clothing. We'll share what caught our eyes, what might catch your wallet, and what trends are popping up across the park this season. Then it's time to park-hop! Over at Disney's Animal Kingdom, we're heading straight to Isle of Java to taste-test two brand-new treats: the Donut Macaron, filled with chocolate ganache and strawberry jam, and the Bunny Burrow Coffee, a colorful cold brew with blueberry syrup and sweetened condensed milk. Which one wins the day — the photo-worthy macaron or the bold new brew? We'll give you our full verdict. Finally, we wrap things up inside the Tree of Life Theater for the all-new stage show, Zootopia: Better Zoogether. We'll share first impressions, crowd reactions, and how it stacks up as a replacement for It's Tough to Be a Bug! Does this fresh, tech-driven show make Animal Kingdom feel new again? It's a holiday-flavored, park-hopping adventure packed with food, fun, and festive spirit.
Our associate producer (and my brother) Riley Swedelius-Smith is here to tell our producer Miranda Zickler and me about the chaotic opening day of The Happiest Place on Earth way back in 1955. We'll learn about the many quirks of Walt Disney, the events that unfolded as he tried to build his ludicrous dream, and how everything went down when it was finally time to present the park to the American public–live on television. 846 · Mary Poppins: Untold Stories and the Making of a Disney ClassicMary Poppins is practically perfect, but the process behind it was emotional, unpredictable, and filled with incredible stories that most fans have never been told. There are very few "perfect" movies in this world: Jaws... The Shawshank Redemption... The Shining... Back to the Future... and from Disney, there is only one on this list - Mary Poppins. Do you love the music of Walt Disney World? Ever had a brilliant idea that never made it past your brain? Or watched a dream die because someone poked too many holes in it before you even had a chance to build it?In this episode of Ambitious, George Bryant is back to teach one of the most powerful frameworks I've ever learned. This is the Dream Storming model, originally created by Walt Disney to bring Disneyland to life. We're breaking down the three core buckets (Dreamer, Builder, and Protector), the exact rules for each state, and how to recognize which bucket you naturally live in versus which one you go to when triggered. But here's where it gets really good: this framework isn't just for your business. George and I get vulnerable about how we use this in our long-distance relationship, how it's transformed the way we communicate during conflict, and why understanding someone's dominant state can completely shift the dynamic in your partnerships, friendships, and even with your kids.00:00 Introduction12:25 The Walt Disney Dream Storming Story18:09 Applying the Dream Storming Model33:50 Understanding the Dreamer Bucket34:32 Transitioning to the Builder Bucket35:04 Entering the Protector Bucket35:22 Applying the Dream Storming Process36:02 Facilitating Dream Storming with Teams36:40 The Importance of Discipline in Dream Storming45:41 Interpersonal Applications of Dream Storming50:29 The Power of Divergent Thinking53:31 Recognizing Natural and Triggered States01:05:08 Understanding the Protector Mode01:05:50 Navigating Conversations with Awareness01:12:03 Applying the Framework in Personal and Professional LifeConnect with George: InstagramWebsite To join the Ambitious Network for free, click HERE. Sixty years later it remains one of the most enduring and beloved Disney movies of all time. Mary Poppins, based on the PL Travers stories, has even inspired a making of film through 2013's Saving Mr. Banks. In tandem, the late songwriters Richard and Robert Sherman, responsible for the classic tunes, have received their fair share of coverage through projects like The Boys: The Sherman Brothers Story from 2009. Thankfully, now we have a written compendium that illustrates how integral the Sherman Brothers were to the development of the 1964 Walt Disney feature. Making Mary Poppins, written by professor and author Todd James Pierce, is a deep dive into the production, along with giving further backstory to the famed songwriters. Todd previously joined host Brett Nachman back in 2020 as he discussed writing Three Years in Wonderland about the development of Disneyland through CV Wood's influence. Now he returns to share details about Making Mary Poppins: The Sherman Brothers, Walt Disney, and the Creation of the Classic Film. Learn more about Todd's career and book by visiting his website. Pick up a copy of Making Mary Poppins and listen to the Disney History Institute podcast. November is finally the time to get to this year's Best Picture Oscar winner and here in episode #695, the talk/rant is indeed about "Ani". Somehow, auteur Sean Baker tied Walt Disney's record by winning 4 Oscars in one night while foul-mouthed fireplug Mikey Madison won Best Actress as well. She and Yura Borisov are two of a half-dozen people giving strong performances in Anora, the Russian-centric dramedy that gets funnier in what is also a repetitive, way-too-long second half. You'll probably find this monologue to be controversial, but answer this: what is this movie about? Is it just a crass Pretty Woman? Well, in any case, don't get married to the stupid idiot son of an oligarch. We're embracing our inner evil and assembling our ultimate Disney Villain Dream Teams! It's a snake-style draft where strategy, sass, and sinister laughs collide as we each pick five iconic foes from across the Disney universe. Here's how it works: we each draft two animated villains, one Pixar villain, one live-action villain, and one bonus wildcard who can come from any corner of the leftover baddies. Once a villain's been chosen, they're gone for good — no repeats allowed!Expect passionate defenses, dramatic alliances, and plenty of over-the-top reasoning as we crown our team leaders and debate who's most likely to stab someone in the back (literally or metaphorically). From Maleficent's poise to Hades' one-liners and Thanos' snap-happy attitude, every choice reveals who we think reigns supreme in the world of Disney darkness. So grab your poison apple, cue up your evil laugh, and join us for a fiendishly fun episode that proves villains really do have more fun. It's Halloween on Main Street Magic — and today, evil's never looked so good.

Ask Me How I Know: Multifamily Investor Stories of Struggle to Success
High performers know pressure well—but peace is the real advantage. This episode reveals how to keep your excellence without exhaustion, and why performance is no longer who you are—it's a tool you use. What happens when excellence becomes exhaustion? In this episode of The Recalibration, Julie Holly explores the hidden edge of high performance—how to honor the drive that built your success while releasing the pressure that's been quietly costing your peace.High-capacity humans often carry an invisible burden: success that feels heavy. You've mastered focus, discipline, and devotion—but sustaining it has started to feel like survival. Julie unpacks why that happens through the lens of Identity-Level Recalibration (ILR)—the psychology-backed, faith-rooted pathway that transforms performance from pressure into peace.Through story work and neuroscience, Julie explains how misalignment at the identity level keeps the nervous system locked in output mode, confusing productivity with safety. She draws from history and culture—Leonardo da Vinci, Walt Disney, and Serena Williams—to show how mastery without margin eventually breaks down, and why true brilliance requires rhythm, not nonstop output.Listeners will learn that excellence isn't something to escape—it's something to steward. You don't need to dismantle your drive; you just need to direct it. Because performance is no longer who you are—it's a tool you use.ILR isn't another mindset tactic or productivity hack—it's the root-level recalibration that makes every other tool effective again.Today's Micro Recalibration:“Where has my gift for excellence become a grip?” Pause and notice where your strength is trying to control instead of contribute. Awareness is the first step toward sustainable mastery. If this episode gave you language you've been missing, please rate and review the show so more high-capacity humans can find it. This isn't coaching. This is identity recalibration — and it changes everything.
