It is difficult to obtain accurate statistics because much abuse goes unreported, however it is estimated that 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys are sexually abused. I am talking about and giving a personal history of my own experience with domestic abuse and talking about ways of dealing with it and healing from the trauma. I also talk about breaking the cycle and modeling better coping skills for our children, as well as, behavior change and healing for the abuser. This is possible in cases where the abuser is not a narcissist or sociopath and they have the desire to heal and find better coping skills. I talk about other instances of spousal and child abuse I have known about and some of the circumstances and effects. It is a little bit of off the top of my head rambling, but hopefully, it makes sense and gives some insight on this important topic.

Kate interviews Barbara Krauss, Author of Fearless Choices and Founder of The Centre for Organic YESipes. Barbara calls herself a STORYOGRAPHER. Her book is a collection of writings she has compiled about courageous and inspiring life choices. We will delve into the importance of story in our lifes and how telling our story has effects on our mind, body and spirit and can be very healing and transformative. Michael Ray Graves works as an advocate for bullying prevention and has designed programs for the schools to help stop bullying and educate teachers, students and parents on how to handle it. His Program is called Kidini and uses 8 colorful characters to help explain how to to deal with dangerous situations. There are more victims of addiction than the addict themselves. It is a bit like a contagious disease and creates a web of destruction and pain all around it. There are many types of addiction and they all cause hurt and trauma to all those in their path. Kate interviews two experts in the Addiction and Recovery field, Michael Oden & John Flaherty to get insight into the causes, the problems encountered and the best solutions to get back to living a productive and meaningful life. Michael Oden, is a Deputy Probation Officer & Behavioral Specialist with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. He has studied and treated individuals who have had substance dependency and negative behaviors for most of their lives. His success rate with this population, due a methodology he designed called the Needs Based Method®, is over 85%. Michael has interviewed, researched and treated over 8500 chemically dependent and emotionally stunted clients. Michael’s book, When Nobody’s Home, was published in 2014. It is about his treatment methods and experiences with clients. The Needs Based Method®, which gives awareness and understanding regarding how certain individual “needs” get met, whether through life diminishing or life fulfilling behaviors. Michael is also a keynote speaker with a powerful message. Jennifer Klostz is a Certified Addiction & Recovery Coach and Outreach Coordinator specializing in helping women through recovery. We will hear about Jennifer's own battle with recovery as a single mother and learn how and why she came to help other women through this time. We will find out about the special challenges of being a woman and single mother and how Jennifer helps women with this.
