Have you ever stopped to ponder the profound impact of mental wellness on every facet of life? Join us for today's Mindset Monday episode as we sit down with the extraordinary Dr. Judith Joseph, psychiatrist and chair of the Women in Medicine Initiative at Columbia University, who guides us through an exploration into the essential yet often neglected world of mental health. Through our candid dialogue, Dr. Joseph unveils the subtle intricacies of high functioning depression and anxiety, highlighting the importance of recognizing and addressing these conditions that stealthily affect many, despite their absence from the DSM-5.Within this episode, Dr. Joseph's expertise illuminates not just the clinical side of psychiatry but also the rich tapestry woven by spirituality and philosophy in nurturing our mental health. Her holistic approach magnifies the importance of self-awareness and the small, often overlooked acts of self-care that anchor our well-being. We delve into the societal pressures that can lead to emotional neglect, discussing how everything from the simple power of listening to the transformative effect of understanding and naming our emotions can lead us to live more fully and authentically.Navigating the complex seas of mental health doesn't have to be a solitary journey.
