We're still on Island Time over here at the Frankencast, fiends! Join us for the next installment of the Blood Island series, and the first one to actually have some continuity from the previous film. So, we're catching up with doctor frenemies Dr. Foster and Dr. Lorca and the plucky reporter who comes between them, not to mention the decapitated and yet still living beast who got a serious special effects budget glow-up since the last movie. Welcome back to Blood Island, fiends! We're not sure why you just keep arriving and leaving by the same boat, but we're glad to see you again. This week, enjoy a green blood cocktail. It helps with the vertigo caused by the extreme zoom effects of the moss monster. Just don't forget to say the oath! Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. Alright fiends, summer's almost here. It's time for an island getaway. Let's go to Blood Island! Pay no mind if you happen to notice the taped-up Blood Island sign has fallen down, revealing a sign that says "Island of Dr. Moreau" beneath it. Join us as we talk about William Fitzgerald's secret job, a variety of island escape methods, and go on a long side-tangent about the recent dire wolf de-extinction non-news. T got a chance to sit down recently with Shirley Jackson Award Nominee and Bram Stoker Award winning author Tim Waggoner. Tim's credits include his own works like "Custodians of the Cosmos", "A Hunter Called Night", & "Blood Island", along with novelizations for films like "Terrifier 2", "Halloween Kills", and Ti West's recent trilogy (X, Pearl, Maxxxine). We sat down and got to discuss the differences in preparing original work vs adaptations, whether his writing process had changed over the years, whether he had to take anything out of his novelizations for Ti West's trilogy, and more!

Shields challenged Lincoln to a duel. Lincoln responded with a final call for peace, writing that he would admit to being the author of the original newspaper letter and would apologize if Shields would retract his earlier letters and rewrite them in a more polite manner. If this request was not met, he would fight the duel. As the person being challenged, Lincoln got to set the rules. Among other things, there was to be a line between the two of them, and crossing over this line would result in death. The duel was to be fought in Missouri, as dueling was still legal there, and the weapons would be broadswords. Lincoln and Shields met for their duel on “Bloody Island,” a sandbar in the Mississippi River right outside of Alton. To demonstrate his advantage in height and reach, Lincoln swung his sword over his head and chopped down a high tree branch. #Marines #SecretaryAustin #Biden #Military #ARMY #Navy #Barstoolsports #Podcast #news #information #Pentagon Check out Barstool Sports for more: http://www.barstoolsports.com Follow Zero Blog Thirty here: Facebook: https://facebook.com/zeroblog30/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/zeroblog30 Instagram: http://instagram.com/zeroblog30You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. Gather round and I'll tell you a story from long ago. Way back in the 1970s and 80s, if you wanted an interactive game that didn't require other people, you were basically out of luck. Fortunately, there was an option for those of us whiling away our elementary school days: The Choose Your Own Adventure books. These books had stories with branching paths that sometimes went is *extremely* weird directions. Josh and I snagged some CYOA books and had fun channeling our childhood selves with "Blood Island," "Surf Monkeys," and "The Unicorn and the Warlock." These stories took bizarre, abrupt turns that some times left us wondering "wait, is this for kids?" Also, I talk a little about the "Star Trek Adventures: Captain's Log" solo play RPG I picked up the other day. There was no such thing as mermaids, and there were certainly no sea creatures lurking in the water. When men start disappearing, he's sent to work the case, and all evidence leads him straight to Aeliana. She is the most alluring woman on the island, and he's not entirely immune to her charms, but there's something dangerous and ethereal about her that makes him think she could be the one behind it all...Aeliana has a secret. She's a siren of the deep, sent by her Queen to sacrifice humans in an important blood rite. But when a detective is sent to thwart her plans, she has no choice but to include him. The fact that he awakens desires in her is irrelevant. Because Aeliana cannot let him live. Will Marx discover what secrets this woman holds, or will he fall deep into the trance—and passions—of the siren's call?https://linktr.ee/BondedBooksPodcastIf you'd like to email questions, comments or book suggestions you can do so at BondedBooksPodcast@gmail.com

Django Nudo and the Smut Peddler adopt their most outrageous French accents in honour of attending the Festival Lumiere and MIFC (International market for classic films) in Lyon, France, where cinema was born 125 years ago. We have had meetings with film libraries and rights holders from all over the world, who first try to sell us their beautifully restored 4K masters of the classics of cinema. We tell them, 'no, give us your dirtiest horror and exploitations films, the bottom of the barrel.' In the end it was amazingly productive and we have leads with a dozen or so title holders, so expect east European science fiction and south European thrillers in the months to come. We also made many new friends and saw a lot of interest for the 'Do You Believe In Swedish Sin' book, that will be appearing in film book shops all over Europe soon. There is a quick plug for this coming Cult Tuesday screening with Everyman Cinemas in the UK of "She Freak" (1967) with a special introduction by Karen Krizanovich. The main focus this week is a big haul of vintage exploitation films from the darkest recesses of the Something Weird Video archive. Thematically it is first 'Girls from the City'. In "All of Me" (1963) is yet another sexploitation variation on the old Good-Girl-who-comes-to-the-big-Bad-City-to-be-a-model story which unexpectedly detours into Nudist-Camp territory. "Babette" (1968) is a surprisingly subversive gem that aggressively celebrates sexual anarchy. "Copenhagen Call Girls" (1964) exudes a bizarre, almost exotic, mixture of grimy black & white sexploitation and Benny Hill-style humour. But the highlight of Copenhagen Call Girls is without a doubt the groovy, inspired surf-guitar score provided by an obscure group of Beatles-wannabes calling themselves THE SHARKS.The second theme is 'Girls from the country', with "The Night of the Cat" (1973) is a shot-in-Charlotte, North Carolina, celluloid catastrophe about a woman who becomes an avenging "catwoman" and takes on the mob. "Garden of Eden" (1954) is the "Gone With the Wind" of nudist movies! Sadly New York censors held up the release so long that when it was finally released it was overrun by less quality nudist films. "Love Goddesses of Blood Island" (1966) sees an astronaut wash ashore and become the sex slave of the Love Goddesses of Blood Island, where previous male guests have been reduced to severed heads on poles. Last and without an obvious theme, "The Girl from S.I.N." (1966) is a silly sci-fi spoof with an invisible woman who keeps reappearing in the nude. The lead character is called Poontang Plenty, which has to be the ultimate James Bond knock-off name. The discover that the problem with taking an invisibility pill is that you never know when you might become visible while stark naked. Finally "Twisted Sex, Vol. 17" (1960) is a cavalcade of vintage trailers and loos, with D.N. and S.P. having fun taking turns reading out the titles featured, including "The Smut Peddler" (1965) and "The Ultimate Degenerate" (1969), which seems like an appropriate pairing. As always we play plenty of music, dialogue and clips from all the films for your enjoyment.

Legendary B Movie filmmaker talks about his new partnership and a new comic based on the pacific island thrillers Tales Of Blood Island now on Kickstarter.
After three weeks we've returned with a brand new, piping hot batch of movies to tell you all about! To call a good portion of the 20 movies we're talking about "bizarre" would be an understatement (hence the title). This time out we talk about the BLOOD ISLAND trilogy, a TV movie from 1981 that wants you to "just say no!", a newer zombie movie that just may overcome your zombie fatigue, Julia Stiles trying to make-out with her dad, Rene Cardona Jr.'s take on cannibal adventure movies, a Mormon created family movie like no other, the insane PERDITA DURANGO, the triumphant return of Robert "Stud" Logan to the show and so much more! Thanks for listening! We've never before dug into the fertile field of Australian genre movies here on The Bloody Pit which means it is long overdue. The classic Ozploitation period is generally thought of has having lasted from the middle of the 1970's to the late 1980's which seems a short length of time until you look at the number of films that fall into this category. There are more than three dozen movies produced just in the 1980's that comfortably fit under the Ozploitation umbrella with several worldwide hits like MAD MAX 2 (1982), ROAD GAMES (1981), RAZORBACK (1984) and DEAD-END DRIVE-IN (1986) being most well-known. Add to that list 70's stunners such as MAD DOG MORGAN (1976), THE MAN FROM HONG KONG (1975), PATRICK (1978) and the ground breaking MAD MAX (1979) and it becomes clear that the Australian output of horror, action and post-apocalyptic cinema has had powerful, long lasting influence. But, in many cases, the Aussie versions of exploitation fodder was following the prevailing trends and copying successes as best they could. And that brings us to this movie! Director Brian Trenchard-Smith has described TURKEY SHOOT (1982) as a movie in which "1984 meets The Camp on Blood Island where they play 'The Most Dangerous Game'". If that isn't a perfect enticement for curious, thrill-seeking movie goers I don't know what could be! John Hudson and Bobby Hazzard join me for a rollicking discussion of this astonishing piece of sadistic insanity. We marvel at the actors willing to put themselves through this crazed scenario with emphasis on the pure hell of trying to shoot a film under very difficult circumstances. We toss around many strange metaphors as we attempt to describe the action of the story and have great fun watching people blow up real good! I'm not sure how but somehow Gilligan's Island is invoked alongside a discussion of pants stuffed with raw meat and dummy deaths. Oh! And Bobby manages to make me do an actual spit-take! Waste of good beer, sadly. If you have any comments or questions thebloodypit@gmail.com is the email address for the show. Let us know what you think of TURKEY SHOOT or your favorite Ozploitation film. Should we cover more of them? Could be fun! Thank you for listening.

I welcome artist Mark Maddox back to the show and we take a trip to Blood Island to survey the territory. TERROR IS A MAN (1959) is the first of what would become a series of Philippine produced horror films featuring monsters and bloody (for the times) violence. While the later films were colorful sleaze-fests this movie was shot in stark black and white with its horrors being moodier rather than grotesque. Not that the film skimps on horror thrills but, while it is pushing the outer edge of what was permissible in the 1950's, it is still a more restrained tale than would come later. Mark and I cut into this variation on Wells' ‘Island of Doctor Moreau' searching for the best parts and throwing out the worst. We disagree on a few elements with me decrying lip gloss and high heels while Mark makes the case for a shortened running time. But we agree on how much the film is improved by the recent HD release on Blu-Ray. This film has spent decades being presented to viewers in terrible prints on subpar video releases that made it difficult to pay attention to the often excellent qualities onscreen. Now it's possible to see the movie in a crisp, clear version that allows all the fine work done to be appreciated. Of course, it also allows us to focus on the less well-done aspects too. But this is a film that falls much more on the positive side than the negative and I will keep insisting on that until Mark shuts up! We don't stray too far off topic but if there are any odd side roads that you think we should travel down further in the future please let us know. The podcast email address is thebloodypit@gmail.com or we can be reached on the show's FaceBook page. Thanks for listening and we'll be back soon!

Matt concludes his tour of Blood Island by visiting 2 Romero/Ashley movies produced after the series proper ended: The Beast of the Yellow Night and The Twilight People.
Matt sails solo to Blood Island to view and review some primo drive-in fare from the Philippines of the late '60s/early '70s starring American actor John Ashley. In this episode, the true films in the series are reviewed: Brides of Blood, Mad Doctor of Blood Island, and Beast of Blood. Strap in for a psychotronic ride...and remember, it ain't the heat that's get ya, in the jungle...it's the humidity.
Before the BLOOD ISLAND episode, we take a quick look at 2 of the films that came before that are considered "non-canonical": TERROR IS A MAN ('59) and THE BLOOD DRINKERS ('64)
