Žalm 91,15) Boží Syn sa zjavil nato, aby maril diablove skutky. 1.Jána 3,8b Matúš 4,1-11 1 Nato Duch viedol Ježiša na púšť, aby ho tam diabol pokúšal. 2 Ježiš sa postil štyridsať dní a štyridsať nocí, až napokon celkom vyhladol. 3 Prišiel k nemu pokušiteľ a povedal: „Ak si Boží Syn, rozkáž, aby sa z týchto kameňov stali chleby.“ 4 On mu však odpovedal: „Je napísané: Človek bude žiť nielen z chleba, ale z každého slova, ktoré vychádza z Božích úst.“ 5 Diabol ho potom vzal do svätého mesta, postavil ho na chrámové cimburie 6 a povedal mu: „Ak si Boží Syn, vrhni sa dolu. Veď je napísané: Svojim anjelom prikáže o tebe, a vezmú ťa na ruky, aby si si neudrel nohu o kameň.“ 7 Ježiš mu odpovedal: „Napísané je však aj: Nebudeš pokúšať Pána, svojho Boha.“ 8 Nato ho diabol vzal na veľmi vysoký vrch, ukázal mu všetky kráľovstvá sveta a ich slávu 9 a povedal mu: „Toto všetko ti dám, ak padneš predo mnou a budeš sa mi klaňať.“ 10 Vtedy mu Ježiš odpovedal: „Odíď, satan! Lebo je napísané: Pánovi, svojmu Bohu sa budeš klaňať a jedine jemu budeš slúžiť.“ 11 Tu ho diabol opustil a vtom prišli anjeli, ktorí mu slúžili. Rozpoznať a odolať. Čomu? Nuž, pokušeniu. Kto by dnes pokladal premenenie kameňov na chlieb za pokušenie? Možno ešte tak skok zo strechy chrámu, ale ani poklonu diablovi na vysokom vrchu by mnohí nepokladali za pokušenie, zvlášť, keby za to bola taká „dobrá výmena“. Väčšina ľudí dnes nechce odolávať lákadlám pre telo. Mnohí chcú využívať najrozličnejšie spôsoby, ako získať slávu, a sú ochotní urobiť všetko pre to, aby mali moc, peniaze a vplyv. A, čuduj sa svete, nie sú to len tí na vplyvných miestach! Vo väčšej, či menšej miere patríme medzi nich aj my. Veď rozpoznať pokušenie nie je ľahké. Vyzerá lákavo a sľubuje dobrý výsledok. Nemôžeme sa spoliehať, že nás pokušenie obíde. Ak si diabol trúfol na Pána Ježiša, o čo skôr zvádza nás. Je ťažké odolať mu. Priťahuje nás ako magnet. Žiada si to vnútornú silu ducha, aby sme mu odolali. Znamená to zápas so sebou samým. Víťazstvo nebýva dané „za drobnú mincu, lacno, bez boja“. Pokúšanie Pána Ježiša nám dáva návod, ako pokušenie rozpoznať a ako mu odolať. Boží zákon nás učí rozpoznať ho a evanjelium nám dáva silu odolávať mu. Pán Ježiš (ktorý je Božím slovom) vybojoval víťazstvo aj pre nás. On nás v tomto boji nenechá samých. Využime pôstny čas a cvičme sa v používaní duchovného meča, aby sme pokušenie rozpoznávali a z moci Kristovej mu odolávali! Modlitba: Vďaka Ti, Pane Ježišu Kriste, že si pre nás vybojoval víťazstvo nad pokušiteľom. Chráň nás a pomáhaj nám, aby sme pokušenie rozpoznali, a daj nám silu, aby sme mu odolali. Veď nás v tomto pôstnom čase, aby sme z Tvojho slova čerpali múdrosť a silu dôverovať Ti celým srdcom. Amen. He has worked at such renowned radio stations as KGB (in its “Boss Radio” days) and gained national acclaim at the legendary KCBQ. “Shotgun Tom” was honored at B-100 radio (KFMB-FM) with the Billboard magazine Air Personality of the Year Award for Major Markets in the mid-70’s. He also received two Emmy Awards for his performance as host of the McGraw-Hill syndicated TV word game show “Words-a-Poppin’” for children. For twelve years at KUSI-TV he was host of their morning and afternoon children’s programs. In 1997, after a nationwide talent search, “Shotgun Tom” Kelly was chosen by CBS Radio’s K-EARTH 101/Los Angeles to fill the coveted afternoon drive slot after the death of The Real Don Steele. Je viens d'ailleurs de finir le Frenchman ! J'observe que les hôteliers font très peu de sport. C'est un paradoxe pour des personnes qui apportent autant de soin à leurs clients... Et pourtant, les bienfaits du sport au travail sont nombreux pour les salariés : cela améliore la santé donc moins d'absentéisme (pour les salariés, faire du sport régulièrement réduit jusqu'à presque 60% de l'absentéisme en entreprise), et améliore aussi sa productivité de 1 à 14%, selon une enquête du Comité National Olympique et Sportif Français (CNOSF) et par le Mouvement des Entreprises de France. De plus, selon une étude menée en 2015 par Goodwill-Management, le sport offre à l'entreprise un gain de 5 à 7% sur son budget annuel sur les dépenses de santé. THE PROPHET ISAIAH lived through turbulent times, with kings of Judah who ranged from the good (Hezekiah, Jotham. Uzziah) to the evil (Ahaz, Manasseh, Amon). In Isaiah 7, the prophet is sent to Ahaz by God with a word about the invasion of his land by the combined forces of Syria and the northern kingdom of Israel. This was despite the fact that Ahaz “made offerings in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom and burned his sons as an offering” (2 Chr. 28:3, ESV), a reference to the sacrifice of children to Molech. God gave Ahaz a sign, an already-but-not-yet prophecy: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. He shall eat curds and honey when he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good. For before the boy knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you dread will be deserted. (Isa. 7:14–16, ESV)This was a promise that Judah would not be conquered by his northern neighbors, but it was also a promise that a virgin in the future (Mary) would give birth to “God with us”—the meaning of the name Immanuel. While critical discourse about falconry metaphors in premodern literature is dominated by depictions of women as unruly birds in need of taming, women in the Middle Ages claimed the symbol of a hawking woman on their personal seals, trained and flew hawks, and wrote and read poetic texts featuring female falconers. Sara Petrosillo's Hawking Women demonstrates how cultural literacy in the art of falconry mapped, for medieval readers, onto poetry and challenged patriarchal control. Examining texts written by, for, or about women, Hawking Women uncovers literary forms that arise from representations of avian and female bodies. Readings from Sir Orfeo, Chrétien de Troyes, Guillaume de Machaut, Chaucer's Troilus and Criseyde, and hawking manuals, among others, show how female characters are paired with their hawks not to assert dominance over the animal but instead to recraft the stand-in of falcon for woman as falcon with woman. In the avian hierarchy female hawks have always been the default, the dominant, and thus these medieval interspecies models contain lessons about how women resisted a culture of training and control through a feminist poetics of the falconry practice. Donald Wright speaks with Jack Cunningham about his book Chrétien and the World. Conventional wisdom holds that foreign policy was not a priority for Jean Chrétien over his ten years as Canadian prime minister. In reality, he and his government pursued an often ambitious, activist policy to forward not only national interests but liberal ideals on the world stage. Chrétien and the World combines the perspectives of key players of the time with analyses by leading scholars. They draw on personal recollections, interviews, and research to portray a foreign policy that was more coherent and engaged than previously believed. As arguably Canada's first post–Cold War prime minister, Chrétien responded to events that reshaped the international landscape, notably the 9/11 attacks on the United States, the subsequent war on terror, the US-led invasion of Iraq, and Canadian involvement in Afghanistan. Working with trusted ministers, he emphasized trade liberalization, strong bilateral and multilateral relations, human security, and humanitarian intervention. Often characterized as purely pragmatic, Chrétien's tenure in fact marked a high point of liberal internationalism through an agenda that emphasized Canadian values and leadership in global affairs. Jack Cunningham is the program coordinator at the Bill Graham Centre for Contemporary International History at the University of Toronto, where he is also a fellow and assistant professor at Trinity College. He is a former editor of International Journal and co-editor of Australia and Canada in Afghanistan: Perspectives on a Mission (with William Maley) and Australia, Canada, and Iraq: Perspectives on an Invasion (with Ramesh Thakur).
