Saphri'ell in NY informs us about a 240 million year old Chinese Water Dragon that seems to have been right out of mythology. Without a doubt it would be cool if we found something like this alive, however, let's not forget what happens with people's imagination and how stories can change from something being a large lizard to a dragon flying around breathing fire. What other kinds of dragons do you believe have existed?Greg in PA studied Western history and explains how logical thinking led him to his belief in god. How did studying the French Revolution get you to your beliefs? What convinced you and what are the particulars that brought you to where you are today? Can you apply this same kind of thinking to another religion? If there were a more accurate description of the world that came from another religion, would that raise your confidence level of that other religion? Greg asks the hosts about their belief in evolution. Evolution is survival of the being that can exist the best in the environment, not just the strongest, bad ass around. If we could demonstrate that animals are compassionate to each other, how would that change your belief in evolution? Just because humans understand compassion in a certain way does not mean other animals do not have it at all. There is no goal or purpose or goal to evolution; it is just a description of how things happened. Tim in WA describes the recent attack on Nex Benedict who was harassed and killed because of their identity and how sad it is that we are making policies based on mythology. If your church is not talking about how to help the LGBTQ community, what good is your church? This is what we are talking about when we say that religion is driven by hate. As long as people are willing to excuse the inexcusable, we are going to keep seeing this. It is completely unacceptable that people are afraid to move, or must move because their child might be in danger. How many churches actually ask what they can do to help the LGBTQ community? With superheroes dominating today's multiplexes and streaming channels, we look back at the 1960s, when people got way into superheroes for two years and then got the hell over it. First, we've got the superhero as a metaphor for American imperialism, racism and police brutality in MR. FREEDOM (1968), a savage satire produced in France and directed by American expat William Klein. In "Mr. Freedom," fellow expat John Abbey (The Sandpiper) plays a sociopathic himbo in red, white and blue football pads who takes a break from beating up Black people to keep the "mixed-up, sniveling crybabies" of France from falling to a communist invasion led by an inflatable Chinese Dragon and a Russian agent clad in a comical amount of foam rubber. Featuring wacked-out visuals that capture the look and feel of French sci-fi comics (think Moebius) and later American dystopian comics such as "Dark Knight Returns" and "The Watchmen." Also starring Donald Pleasance as Mr. Freedom's boss, Dr. Freedom, Delphine Seyrig as Mr. Freedom's girlfriend, and French pop and jazz legend Serge Gainsbourg. Director William Klein died on the same day that we taped this ep. RIP. For our B-feature, we go waaaay low budget with "Rat Pfink a Boo Boo" (1966), a ramshackle effort from Ray Dennis Steckler, the mad genius behind the world's first monster musical, "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed Up Zombies." The film starts out as a pretty severe crime drama but then makes one of the most jarring tonal shifts in history when Rat Pfink and his trusty sidekick Boo Boo show up and turn it all into a goofy superhero flick, no doubt inspired by the wave of "Batmania" that swept the nation in 1966 with the brief mega success of TV's BATMAN with Adam West. This one's got some rock and roll numbers + a gorilla (!), causing Philena to ask why dudes are so into apes, a question that the straight cis men on the panel don't have all that good answer for. It's perhaps something we'll have to ponder in a future Ape-isode of OMFYS. MR. FREEDOM is streaming on Criterion Channel. During the gold rush Chinese immigrants made up a quarter of Bendigo's population, but now only one percent trace their ancestry back to these diggers. The goldfields were a dangerous place in the 19th century particularly for Chinese miners who faced inhibitory discrimination and suffered xenophobic attacks. Despite this many made Bendigo their home and helped shape the city it is today. Their legacy can be seen in the annual Chinese Dragon parade, Golden Dragon Museum, and Chinese gardens. It's been another five months, and while 2020 is turning into a stressful year for a lot of people, I have found my own experience being something closer to boring. Okay, well maybe not totally boring: I published six books on Amazon.com, and started an international weiqi game that you can follow on Instagram as part of The Weiqi Art of War, made visual for the people who don't read or listen to anything. And then there's the virus, the wars, the riots and the protests, and all the other shenanigans... And I'm finding it still a tad bit boring. So while I ponder over this, I am putting on my new Red Jade Pendant - A red pendant with a carving of a Chinese Dragon encircling 'The Orb of Enlightenment' as I like to call it. I had actually bought it years ago at the Hong Kong Ladies Market along Tung Choi street. And then, like a lot of touristy stuff people buy, I bought it back to Sydney and stashed it away never to be seen again until just a few weeks ago. I had been wanting to wear a new pendant for some time, thou, because my other pendants are now so full of my qi, that they have become too heavy to wear. And they hurt my neck with the weight. Normally a new pendant has no discernible weight to it when worn. With the only weight being whatever it is when weighed on a scale. But after prolonged usage, its real weight becomes its physical weight plus the qi it has absorbed from me. This can be more easily understood in this way: Compare two books that look the same from the outside, with the only difference being that one is blank and the other has words and pictures in it. While the ink in the one book can be tangibly weighed on a scale, the real weight of the book will be in the meaning of what's printed. So to cling to just the physics of the physical is a limitation that could turn into a self-imposed prison. Qigong, however it is experienced, is meant to help expand the mind into new realms. How that is done, depends on what style of qigong is being practiced and who the practitioner is. It does not have to be a spiritual thing. Fucking and having multiple orgasms can be just as enlightening for some people. Having an orgasm is a form of extremely powerful qi, that can heal people provided that the intention to heal is there. For all you men, who don't believe me about that one, go and ask a woman who regularly has multiple orgasms and really listen carefully to what she has to say about it. Perhaps it might be better to not believe, because then you won't feel so inadequate.

Not Tech Related, But What I Got for Fathers Day   Ok this is going to sound odd, but I got a fairy village to hide in my garden made out of little concrete figures: 6 little cottages, a fairy on a leaf, 3 fairy doors to put besides the trunk of a tree, and a gargoyle to guard the village. I’ve been gradually getting these types of items from my garden over the last year or so from an artist who lives on the Central Coast here in NSW, and thought I’d would share my recent purchases.  I love these cottages as each one is slightly different with the way the roof is done, placement of chimneys, doors, and windows.     There is a link to Cherry’s website below, unfortunately it is mainly jpg files but her contact details are at the bottom of the page. Guests visit the island by traveling on a motorized raft which is piloted by a Disneyland Cast Member. The short 3D Jamboree features the famous Mouseketeers and their leader Jimmy Dodd. The presentation includes the animated shorts Melody and Working for Peanuts all in 3D. Storybook Land Canal Boats (originally known as Canal Boats of the World in 1955) features 13 boats (powered by outboard motors) afloat in 465,000 gallons of water.1958:Disneyland's Columbia ship opens on the Rivers of America. It is a full-scale version of the first ship to carry the American flag around the world. It actually was built in large part from the plans for the HMS Bounty (of mutiny fame). Disney's shipbuilders couldn't find plans for the original Columbia, so they relied heavily on those of Captain Bligh's ship, which had similar dimensions. It has cost $300,000 to build. Fowler's Harbor (named after Admiral Joseph Fowler, who helped to build Disneyland) is also officially opened on this day to dock the new ship. A dedication ceremony takes place with Fowler and Walt Disney himself in attendanceThe Disneyland attraction Alice in Wonderland debuts in Fantasyland. Actress, Kathryn Beaumont, voice of Alice in the 1951 animated movie, provides the voice for the dark ride. It follows the path of the movie, as the riders (as Alice) follow the White Rabbit down the Rabbit Hole into Wonderland. Disneyland's first "Alice" attraction - Mad Tea Party (a spinning tea cup ride), has been operating since the park's debut in July 19551959:Three major attractions are christened at Disneyland on this day:The first urban monorail system in the U.S., the Disneyland-Alweg Monorail System, begins operation in California's Disneyland. The two Mark I trains run on a .8 mile track around Tomorrowland. Walt Disney and U.S. Vice president Nixon and their families are on hand for the dedication of the "Highway in the Sky." (In June 1961, the Monorail will become a true transportation link instead of just a sightseeing ride. The parade and all the day's events are filmed for an ABC television special to be titled Kodak Presents Disneyland ’59.1967:The Club 33 restaurant (for members-only) opens at 33 Royal Street, in New Orleans Square at Disneyland.  Long ago, in ancient China, there were four magnificent Dragons: the Long Dragon, the Black Dragon, the Pearl Dragon, and the Yellow Dragon.  They lived in palaces under the only sea in China.One day, they emerged from the Sea to fly high above the clouds to see the beautiful world from above.  The Pearl Dragon heard the voices of the people and called upon his brothers to hear them. He heard them crying and praying desperately for help.An old woman held a young child close and cried, “Please bring us rain, so that our crops won’t die! We are starving, and if we don’t eat soon, we’ll also die!”The dragons felt sympathy for the people and decided to ask the Jade Emperor, the supreme ruler of Heaven and Earth, to send rain to them, but when they went to ask the great Emperor, he became angry that the dragons disturbed his fun.  He had been enjoying a performance and was enthralled at the beauty of a fairy dance that he was watching.The dragons respectfully asked for the rain to be sent for the people, to which the king replied, “Go back to your palace, and I will send them rain tomorrow.”  The dragons were happy, so they complied. The Emperor, however, forgot about their request as soon as they left, as he got lost in watching the beautiful performance.After 10 days had passed, the dragons ventured out again, only to find that the people were even more desperate than before.  They were so hungry that they had to resort to eating bark from the trees, roots, and clay.The dragons despaired for the people and felt anguish for having an Emperor that cared more about his selfish pleasure than about the people he ruled.That’s when the Black Dragon remarked, “I wish there was a way that we can help them.”The Long Dragon had an idea.  He said let’s scoop up water from the sea and spray it into the clouds.  Surely, it will fall back to the Earth as rain and save the people?”His brothers agreed, but the Long Dragon warned that the Emperor may be angry with them for overstepping their bounds.  The other dragons were not deterred and agreed that they’d do anything for the people.The Black Dragon said, “Let’s begin brothers”, and they took large mouthfuls of the sea water and sprayed it into the clouds, and the rain fell on the land.  The people rejoiced as the grass grew green again and the crops became fertile and thrived.  The dragons were overjoyed.Their joy was not to last long, however, as the Sea God became angry that they had stolen a large amount of his water, so he went to complain to the Jade Emperor.The Jade Emperor was livid and stormed, “How could they bring rain without my permission!?!?”He used powerful magic and ordered his Generals to capture the dragons.  They managed to outnumber and overwhelm them, and the dragons were helpless to escape.The Sea God was commanded to bring four mountains to place on top of them so that they’d never be able to escape again.The Dragons never forgot their love for the people though and decided to turn themselves into rivers that would never let the people thirst again, and these rivers run through the valleys and fields and run into the Sea, thus becoming the four rivers of China.  The Heilongjiang, or Black Dragon, flows through the North. The Huanghe, or Yellow River, flows through Central China. The Changjiang, or Long River, flows through Southern China. And finally, the Zhujiang or Pearl Ri
