Sharon, Shaun's mom had 2 kids and  was living in subsidized housing when she  started her janitorial  business in the CD, central district of Seattle, WA.  People laughed and were critical of her because she was 'cleaning houses' but mother knew best.  Lots of drugs and crime hit their neighborhood in the 1980's and she knew she had to make a living to get her kids out of that neighborhood.Mom's dream was greater than her pride" says her son.  "Mom had a dream and she didn't want my  sister and I living in this neighborhood," Shaun says with such high esteem for his mother. The 'drugs in the neighborhood' conversation was a regular occurrence.   Shaun and his sister regularly had the 'safety' conversation with their mother. Mom told us , "once the street lights go on, you have to be off the streets.  It's not safe."Mom was unstoppable and Shaun has a very special story to tell about his mom and a prominent drug dealer in the community.  It's a very touching and ironic story of trust.1991-1992 Sharon and her son Shaun picked up moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area.  Mom and dad had never married and they realized it wasn't going to work out long term, so Sharon was determined to relocate with Shaun and join her daughter in Georgia attending college.  Miss Mayweather, their guardian angel, helped them get set up in her home  after their rental property was roach infested.Shaun speaks so highly of his mom.  Throughout so much adversity, Shaun says "they never lacked anything", we were always covered and protected."  "My mother was so resourceful, she never gave up" continues her son."Mom is the cook at Camp Warrior King, the camp that Shaun and his mom started for kids in the Atlanta metro area. The kids loved the food because Sharon was the cook.  These kids love all of these 'all you can eat' meals, often the only meal they have all day.  Some of the favorites are fried chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuits, green beans or breakfast for  dinner or Italian day, the list goes on and on.Shaun is an entrepreneur, just like his mother. The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree. Because of Sharon's education background, she was an ideal partner for Shaun to start up this wonderful camp."Honeybee" is Shaun's nickname for his mother.  "She reminds me of a bee-always buzzing around."  Shaun lovingly brags "the kitchen at camp is called "Honeybee's Kitchen."*CAMP WARRIOR KING-Youth development program  to expose kids to things they'd never experience throughout the year *THE I AM DEFENSE INSTITUTE*TEAM HOTT SAWCE*THE YOUTH CONFERENCEAll of the above motivational programs are in the Atlanta, Georgia area.https://linktr.ee/Sfdreamsbig?utm_source=linktree_profile_shareShaun is the author of the book: "Persevere Overcome Win: SuperPOWers That Will Give Your Child The EDGE In Life"   "Should Have Listened To My Mother" is an ongoing conversation about mothers and the roles they play in our lives. We met in Durham and chose to create our 55+, LGBTQ+, cohousing community here in Durham, a very Gay-friendly city in the liberal part of NC called The Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill). Our condo-style homes on 5 of our 15 acres in N. Durham consist of 28 individual 1-story homes. The homes are connected in side-by-side quads, brightly colored, and are within close distance of the 2600 SF, Common House.  We've been here 3 years, and I still smile every morning when I wake up and realize we really live here! There are challenges for us to learn new ways to communicate and navigate the process of making decisions with 27 other homeowners. I feel like there's always something coming up to do, and something new for me to learn which is essential to keep our minds active and engaged!  Pat and I wanted to avoid the loneliness and isolation we often see as folks age and mobility becomes more difficult. In addition, we wanted to be in a community with like-minded neighbors who could share resources and give and receive neighborly support. Village Hearth was a dream in 2015 when we hired our Development Consultant, Katie McCamant (Cohousing Solutions) and by 2020 we were moving into our completed homes. One World in a New World with Brian Kelly - Featured Author, Team Development Consultant An apocalyptic chat that will offer many points to ponder. We start off with exploring Brian's opening debut in his coaching certification program. He found vulnerability didn't mean weak, which is the understanding he had held. Listen in to how he progressed as it may be familiar. How do we get out of our minds and into a greater sensory capacity beyond it. We both found that the process is often very similar in any type of program, it's the individual experience and expression that varies in discovering the blocks or bottlenecks to our flow. What are the generational challenges across personal growth and development, inclusive of emotional intelligence? Being congruent with having an inner compass and willingness to be different allows a greater expression of the individual outside the less than productive educational structures we've had. What if we taught our children/students to teach each other? Zen mentions that statistically, 40% of material is retained through passive learning while 98% is retained by teaching it. We still have teachers delivering instead of students learning and teaching each other. We return to the notion of vulnerability and the anxiety-ridden considerations of being true to oneself, sharing from an authentic place and not caring what others think about it. Our conversation moves into some interesting directions. These factors all impact the ability of an organizational leadership and staff to embrace a growing self-awareness/group-awareness. Question begin with, "What's getting in the way?" Many factors are considered, from the gross to the finer. The aspects of consideration include organizational structure to emotional intelligence to psychological safety and intellectual humility to being aware of subtle energy. From best practices in business to a kind of quantum physics aspect of the 'Clair-alls' or what used to be called 'psychic senses.' Explore the conversation for your own tasty tidbits of transformation as it will cause you to consider perspectives you may have held sacred until now. Loosen up, dive in, let it flow and garner your pearls. How do you invite flow into your life, your relationships and/or your work? As a new parent, I sometimes feel I'm living on a deserted island, with no rescue in sight. I survive one tantrum after another while trying to figure out what's for dinner. Can you relate?   Well friend, take a deep breath with me (and exhale!) and know you are not alone, and this interview episode is for you. Tracy Grewe, Infant and Toddler Development Consultant, will help us discover and effectively use our most powerful parenting tool.   Tracy has 20+ years of experience as a Certified Association Montessori International Instructor running a Montessori school. As Chairman of the Board of a non-profit organization for over 20 years, she raised funds to support Montessori education for children.  For over 5 years, she has worked with a non-profit organization "Speak Up Stand Up Save a Life" which empowers children to help each other and stand up when they have a friend in need.   Purely out of a passion for helping parents feel more confident and knowledgeable she has shared the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori along with her personal experiences as a Mother through parent workshops, while also gathering ideas from the parents she worked with. Nurture Newbies was created as a digital resource for parents containing the knowledge she has gathered over the years. Not only is it designed to provide parents tools so they can be a step ahead of their child's development but more importantly practical ideas to help turn overwhelm into confidence, and allow the parents to consciously support the development of independent and empowered kids.   Connect with Tracy on the Nurture Newbies website:  https://www.nurturenewbies.com/   ***Check out Tracy's online courses found in https://www.nurturenewbies.com/  and receive a 10% discount, simply by entering GRACE10 upon purchase.   Follow her on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nurturenewbies/  Follow her on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nurturenewbies    Connect with me: Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/organizewithgrace/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/organizewithgracefb
