Eric dives into the surprising story of how the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers became part of the Disney family. From Haim Saban's early days as a music producer to building Saban Entertainment, we cover his work in cartoon music, partnerships with Deac, successful shows like X-Men: The Animated Series, and the process of adapting Super Sentai into Power Rangers for American TV. We explore the evolution of Fox Kids, Saban's strategy to gain a cable network, the formation and expansion of Fox Family Worldwide, and the sale to Disney, which transformed the Fox Family Channel into ABC Family (now Freeform). The episode also touches on Disney's use of Power Rangers at the theme parks, the creation of Jetix (later Disney XD), the sale of Power Rangers to Hasbro, and the legacy of ABC Family's “25 Days of Christmas” and the inescapable 700 Club. If you're curious how ‘90s kids' TV, Marvel, Disney, and even televangelist Pat Robertson all connect, this episode unpacks it all. Olivia Holt Interview: Breaking Out of the Disney Box & Becoming a Horror Star

We have a wealth of wonderfully talented actors who got their start making Disney shows and films. But, as often discussed on Collider Ladies Night, this is an industry with a habit of boxing artists in to the first they do well. One particularly popular box? The Disney box, and that's the one I focused on with Heart Eyes star, Olivia Holt.Holt's star started to rise with not one, but two Disney shows and a Disney Channel Original Movie. First it was Disney XD's Kickin' It, then came the movie Girl vs. Monster, and after that it was the Disney Channel Original Series, I Didn't Do It. All fantastic opportunities for a young actor getting a foothold in the industry, but all projects that would wind up labeling Holt as a particular kind of actor. When the time came to grow beyond Disney projects, Holt cared a good deal about that carrying label - until she didn't. “I just couldn't care anymore. I think I cared so deeply about people not wanting to view me as a Disney star, and now I just embrace it.”Embracing it has served Holt exceptionally well since the end of I Didn't Do It. While making the most of the invaluable lessons learned on those Disney sets, Holt has gone on to headline the short-lived but beloved Marvel series Cloak & Dagger. She also delivered big starring in the Hulu series Cruel Summer. She starred opposite Kiernan Shipka in Prime Video's horror comedy Totally Killer, and now she leads yet another slasher movie that's a total blast, Heart Eyes. Holt plays Ally in the Josh Ruben-directed romantic comedy slasher film. After a setback at work, Ally agrees to have dinner with Jay (Mason Gooding), the hotshot designer her boss brought in to oversee her assignment. Trouble is, it's Valentine's Day and the Heart Eyes Killer is out for blood. When HEK suspects Ali and Jay are on a date, they become HEK's next target. With Heart Eyes now playing in theaters nationwide, Holt took the time to swing by the Collider Ladies Night studio to recap her journey to becoming an undeniable force in the genre space. His second book, Dancing Out of the Closet––a collection of creative nonfiction essays––is “One of the most delightful and insightful reads in the last few years . . . “ –CNN contributor Dr. Paul HokemeyerAfter attending the prestigious Orange County School of the Arts, Matthew continued his professional career as a principal dancer for the world-renowned company, Giordano Dance Chicago.  Highlighted credits include Cold Case, Jackass Number Two, The Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, Hansel & Gretel at The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Earth to America with Jason Alexander, Broadway Cares with Rosie O'Donnell, Disney XD's Kickin' It, Bunheads, he appears alongside Adam Levine on Broad City, and on the hit show Crazy Ex Girlfriend. In 2010, Matthew co-founded A Group Production, serving as executive producer and collaborating on over 40 projects between Broadway, Film, and Television. On the heels of a global pandemic, Matthew returned to graduate school to earn his Master of Fine Arts in directing and choreography from Wilson College. There, Matthew turned his attention to exploring gender, identity, and grief related to narratives in theater and commercial art.  Whether directing and choreographing Matilda the Musical with a half-million dollar budget or working with emerging artists in community theaters and festivals, Matthew fosters a creative environment to craft a story grounded in the idea that emotion is genderless, that we're all looking to connect and feel validated. Art should be an equitable and accessible space for all.  For the past 20 years, Matthew has worked as a dance educator at leading performing arts conservatories and conventions across the United States and Europe including the Broadway Dance Center and Giordano Dance Center.  He is currently an adjunct professor at Hussian College; In Studio, Los Angeles and on faculty with Fluid Dance Convention. WDW Radio # 717 - Cindy Morgan from TRON Interview - From the WDW Radio Archives  Spoiler alert... I'm a bit of a nerd. Growing up, I loved (love) video games and technology, storytelling, adventure, and the unknown... and that hasn't changed much.  More than 40 years ago, a Disney film was released that would forever change the science fiction genre, as well as animation, video gaming and the lives of many young geeks like myself. Smart, stylish and fun, the game grid of Tron was groundbreaking, and in 2010, Tron was reborn with the Tron: Legacy film (and do you remember the Tronorail at Walt Disney World, ElecTRONica at Disneyland, or what about Tron: Uprising on Disney XD... with all of them now on Disney+). So in 2012, on WDW Radio show # 277, a little, nerdy dream of mine came true, as I had the opportunity to speak in an exclusive interview with one of the original film's stars, Cindy Morgan, who played the dual role of Lora and Yori. She may or may not have also been the subject of a bit of a boyhood crush of mine for her role in Caddyshack. Ryan Raddatz, or perhaps more fondly known by his Philmont friends as "Raddish,” joins the show today to discuss Rayado, Philmont music, inclusive scouting, and more.Ryan praises the musicianship and skill of todays staff, recalling how campfire dynamics of the 90s were more spontaneous and on the fly - a collaboration of new and refired musicians learning from one another. Ryan comments on how the grind of putting on a show every night, and being fueled by an audiences reaction - prepared him for his career in music and as an actor.  We chat about his career as a TV Writer, and how being in the writers room - for Ryan - is the closest thing to a backcountry camp vibe.  It's a bunch of talented people, with a common goal, working together.  For him success is measured by "Making something you're proud of with people you like.”  So many gems in this interview - from Ryan's experience playing live with the Indigo Girls to the TV drama he wrote highlighting the true story of The Lost Legend of the Girl Rangers and lastly - his efforts to help start an all inclusive Cub Scout Pack in North Hollywood.Today Ryan is an accomplished TV Writer, known for his work with PBS show WordGirl, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and Network pilots for ABC, FOX, CBS, NBC, Disney XD, and Nickelodeon.  He started his career as an actor with roles in some very well known shows and films including - A Mighty Wind, Arrested Development, How I Met Your Mother, Big Love and more!Philmont Experience1990 - Trek with my troop (from Mequon, Wisconsin)1992 - Trek, again with my troop1993 - Rayado participant1994 - PC Pueblano (Eric Voss was the CD)1995 - PC Cypher's Mine (James Scroggins was CD)1996  - Didn't work at the ranch that summer, but a few of us Phil-staffers (David Higginbotham, Scott Wheeler, Rob Heyduck) spent the summer living in Santa Fe and playing in a band we called Charlie's Cabin.1997 - PC Crater Lake (Bob Brown was CD)2018 - Ryan started a coed, inclusive Cub Scout pack in Los Angeles - Pack 18 North Hollywood.Notable Mentions:Dave DonnellyLaurie AnamasLarry McLaughlin aka Dirty LarryGene SchnellDoug PalmerDean TooleyEric VossDave HigginbothamScott WheelerRichmond EnrightBob BrownRod TaylorRob HeyduckJames Scroggins aka ScroggsPeter BingenAndy GerhartGS HarperRon PowerTobasco DonkeysDustbowl CavaliersIndigo GirlsKatrina MoonSupport the show
