It's Final Four weekend and sadly the Kentucky Wildcats came up short this year in their bid for a 9th national title. Bookending our look back at special moments in UK basketball history WUKY's Saving Stories highlights another famous shot, the one Duke's Christian Laettner hit in overtime against the Wildcats in the 1992 East Regional final in Philadelphia. The buzzer beater marked the end of an era for the team affectionately known as “The Unforgettables.” Nunn Center director Doug Boyd shares interviews with UK players Sean Woods – who hit the Wildcats' go-ahead basket with two seconds on the clock, and John Pelphrey, one of the defenders responsible for guarding Laettner on the long inbounds pass; a split-second moment that he admits misremembering. Doug even shares a clip of a song he wrote about the game and the aftermath called 1992.

The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu, at a function in his region expressed concern that implementing a 24-hour economy as proposed by John Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), would lead to people not having time to sleep with their wives at night.
Joel Katz, the Northeast U.S. Regional Director for the March of the Living, discusses the importance of never forgetting the Holocaust and the lessons it teaches us. He shares his personal experiences visiting concentration camps in Poland and the impact it had on him and the participants of the March of the Living program. Joel emphasizes the need for education and understanding to combat antisemitism and promote peace. He also discusses the recent conflict in Israel and the importance of standing up against hatred and violence. Key Takeaways: Education is key to combatting ignorance and promoting understanding. The Holocaust serves as a reminder of the atrocities that can occur when hatred and prejudice go unchecked. It is important to remember the past and learn from it to ensure that history does not repeat itself. Courage is born out of fear, and it is important to stand up against injustice and hatred. The power of education and storytelling can help change perspectives and promote peace. Quotes: "We must continue every minute of our life to keep teaching history, keep teaching good things, the morals, the ethics, the principles of good life and protect." - Joel Katz "You are a witness to the murder of 6 million Jews and 5 million other human beings that God placed here on this earth." - Joel Katz "We need to teach everyone else that God gave us good and evil." - Joel Katz "Never stop talking. Never stop giving them information. The facts that you find, the background that you found, share that with them." - Joel Katz "We must keep educating and arming away at them, whatever vehicle and tools we might have." - Joel Katz

With another astonishing performance by its point guard Markquis Nowell, Kansas State outlasted Michigan State in overtime and has advanced to the Elite Eight, one step away from the Final Four. On today's SportsBeat KC podcast, beat writer Kellis Robinett and columnist Vahe Gregorian break down the edge-of-your-seat East Regional semifinal, and center to it all was Nowell, who set an NCAA Tournament record with 19 assists to go along with his 20 points. Nowell's final two assists won the game. His lob pass to Keyontae Johnson from distance, was finished with back-to-the-basket slam to break a tie, and his in-bounds pass to Ismael Massou on a clever play led to the breathing-room jumper. Great stuff all around from Nowell and the WIldcats who with a victory over Florida Atlantic on Saturday will reach the Final Four for the first time since 1964. Story link: Spontaneous or scripted? The record was 1-250, the one being in 2018 when Maryland-Baltimore County were the first 15 seed to knock out the then overall Number 1 seed in Virginia. On Friday night March 17 at the East Regional in Columbus, Ohio saw more history. The FDU Knights were quicker, they were more aggressive, and completely shut down Zach Edey of Purdue for the last 9 minutes. The historic upset with a final score of 63-58 will be remembered forever, as the Retrievers are no longer alone. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/bigzman34/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/bigzman34/support
We have reached the 500th episode of the DBR Podcast, and we're so happy to welcome back Kenny Dennard to the show! The Dog is a beloved friend of the podcast and has featured on episodes 100, 200, 300, and 400, so it makes sense to bring him back on for this one. We have a nice discussion with Kenny about this year's Duke Blue Devils team, which is a 5 seed in the East Regional and one of the popular picks to get to at least the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament. We talk about what has worked well for the Blue Devils lately and the Dog gives us his bracket picks. We also get to reflect on this year's team and the job Jon Scheyer has done in his first season as head coach. Kenny also gives some insight on what it's like for a team that has big expectations to try and fight it out in the NIT after a season that didn't go to plan. We love having Kenny Dennard on, and we thank all of you for being a part of 500 full episodes of the DBR Podcast. We will be back in your feeds real soon with more content this week, so stay tuned! Woodland vs. Ragland 1A East Regional by Wes Kinsey
The Press Box has gone mad…as in March Madness & nobody describes it quite like the incomparable IAN EAGLE! Fresh off a two-week “dance” in the East Regional, the CBS Sports play-by-play superstar joins The Guys to relive the magic of St. Peters…and preview the Final Four match-ups set for tomorrow night in New Orleans.
When the brackets came out, there was little chance that the nastiest rivals ever to play college basketball were going to meet. That is, until the regional finals when Duke beat up Arkansas at the West Regional in San Francisco. The following day, North Carolina squashed the Cinderella dreams of the first Number 15 seed to reach the Elite Eight in tiny St. Peter's at the East Regional in Philadelphia. And so, the 258th all-time meeting between the state school and the private, elitist school separated by only eight miles will clash on college basketball's biggest stage. Think of the other huge rivalries in sports: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers; Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers, Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers. If you are talking college football, you have Ohio State vs. Michigan, USC vs. Notre Dame, Auburn vs. Alabama, and in recent years with Alabama vs. Georgia. Of course, there is that other vicious rivalry featuring pure animosity every December when Kentucky battles Louisville. Most of that is usually one sided, and when they collided at the 2012 Final Four--the fans liquored up a storm on Bourbon Street, and more of the same was expected this week way down yonder in New Orleans. Saturday night, April 2, 2022 is going to be ten thousand times bigger than that. All week, it has been 24/7/365 chatter on sports talk radio, Twitter, and YouTube. Although my podcast sets up as a short primer, please tap on your phone or click on the link below for those who have either a desktop or a laptop to read my comprehensive Final Four preview. And yes, I did touch on a bit of the first semifinal between Kansas and Villanova, but there isn't too much to talk about there. Enjoy, and please leave some comments before the approximate 8:50 p.m. Eastern time tip-off Saturday night on TBS: https://fortyminutesofhoopsfun.wordpress.com/2022/04/01/2022-final-four-preview-too-many-blueblood-storylines-to-count/ --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/bigzman34/message
Last year North Dakota entered the NCAA men's hockey tournament as the top overall seed, but fell in the second round to Duluth in a five overtime game. After losing several seniors, newer faces took on the ice this season leading the team to a 24-13-1 record. Heading into this year's tournament, UND is the second seed in the East Regional in Albany.

Northumbria Police's Claire Vandenbroecke and Charlotte Knill from the Force's Cyber Crime Unit have joined the North East LHS Team for a triple treat! We met Claire at the NELHS Ade Lovelace day and we wanted to invite the Nercuu back to tell us more about what they do. Claire and Charlotte usually deliver bespoke training to businesses, advising them on how to keep their systems secure, as well as working with young people with highly specialised digital skills and they've joined NELHS in a special three-part podcast to share their expertise. The series covers everything from why you should be using two-factor authentication on your apps, to how tricks and jokes adopted by gamers could see them falling foul of the law. Charlotte said: “CyberCrime is an area of policing which is constantly evolving and changing and it is on us as a Force to adapt and make sure our staff and officers have the relevant skills to deal with offences such as ransomware attacks and hacks to phishing scams and frauds as well as sexual offences like online exploitation. “Cybercrime is ultimately something we can't arrest our way out of, even if we had all the resources in the world. The best way we can tackle cybercrime is to prevent the offences from taking place in the first instance. “A large part of my role is working with young people and getting them to understand that cybercrime is not a victimless crime – an attack on a small business for example could be devastating and have serious consequences for the owner's livelihood. “Steering teenagers away from cybercrime and showing them the vast array of jobs in the industry is a simple but effective way of preventing them using their skills in an unethical and teaching them about the Computer Misuse Act. In Claire's world of Cyber Protect and Prepare, businesses, organisations and charities are being issued with practical advice to block unsolicited attempts to gain access. “A lot of what I cover in the podcast is what I'm sharing with businesses on a daily basis. They're really simple and straightforward tips from making sure your passwords are strong – we advise using three random words or a password generator which you can find online, to use two-factor authentication for your apps, as well as basic house-keeping like ensuring all your systems are up to date so no weaknesses can be exploited.” Follow Northumbria Police Northumbria Police | Facebook and @northumbriapol on Twitter For help and advice about cybercrime visit the North East Regional Cyber Crime Unit's website here: https://nerccu.police.uk/ To check your online security visit: https://haveibeenpwned.com/ How strong is your password - https://www.security.org/how-secure-is-my-password/ Cyber Essentials - https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/cyberessentials/overview Police cyber alarm - https://cyberalarm.police.uk/ Microsoft Hafnium: https://www.microsoft.com/security/blog/2021/03/02/hafnium-targeting-exchange-servers/ The Ladies Hacking Society is here to support women in learning and expanding their technical cyber security skills.
