Hour 1 Willie Colon is sitting in with Gio today and the guys agree that, while Kyler Murray can help the Giants or another QB-needy team, the Giants can't give up the third overall pick to get him. Gio is not a fan of Ryan Seacrest as the new host of Wheel of Fortune. Jerry's update covered a busy day of NFL moves and Gio heard Sauce Gardner say he expects an extension from the Jets this offseason. They also discussed Jose Iglesias officially signing with a new team. Gio introduces Willie to playing the Google autofill game. Hour 2 Willie sparked a passionate debate: should you wash chicken or not? Sauce said that Buffalo is the hardest place to play but wouldn't explain why and added “if you know, you know”. So, Gio wonders, does Willie know? Gio isn't worried about someone finding out what's on his phone. Jerry's update covered NFL moves and golf frustrations. The guys broke down how players feel about the franchise tag. The hour concluded with Willie sharing what he's heard on the street: more married men are getting male enhancements. Hour 3 The Knicks play the Lakers in LA tonight. Gio and Willie discuss the Knicks' season and agree it feels disappointing. Jerry returns with an update and they discuss the Cowboys and a song by Better Than Ezra. Adam the Bull rants about Nick Chubb, Pacman Jones admits to cheating, and Jerry plays calls from LIU Brooklyn's win. A caller asks if Gio was campaigning for Boomer to pay for a male enhancement procedure. Hour 4 Gio and Willie explore the top QB options for the Giants: Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders or a veteran. They disagree on the decision the Giants made in last year's draft. Jerry's update began with a conversation about Groundhog Day and the end of winter before moving to Sauce Gardner's future with the Jets. Gio teaching Willie about a Google autofill game was highlighted as the "Moment of The Day." The show concluded with a discussion about favorite chips to snack on.
We had a great time on Saturday, October 12th at LIU Brooklyn, networking and talking about the Topic: "A Seat at the Table". This was the beginning of our Standing In the Gap, fire side chat series and it was transformational. We gained so many insights and was empowered to take up our seat at the table, pull up a chair or even build your own table. Some of the key takeaways: 1. You do not have to be in the room to have a seat at the table. 2. Elevate your voice. Your voice is powerful. 3. Safeguard your table by having the right people around you and legally guarding your intellectual properties. 4. Are you seated at a particular table for too long and blocking your blessing from an even bigger table? 5. How are you creating change and influencing others to pull up a chair?6. Are you preparing the other person to take your seat when you move on. A special thank you to professor @joan Pierre for securing the space for the event, for hosting and for her continued support. Thanks to our amazing speakers, Shauna-Kaye Brown LEC, LLB. Daphnee Sanon and Josephine McFarlane, LMSW for such great insights. Thanks to the We Women Elevate team: Molly Creese, MBA Tynesha N. Patrick Horrigan's novel, American Scholar (Lethe Press 2023) centers on James (Jimmy) Fitzgerald, who teaches American Literature at a prestigious university, is in a happy (open) marriage that allows him to enjoy a much younger boyfriend, and has just published a novel about literary critic, Harvard Professor of History and Literature, F.O. Matthiesen, who was forced to hide his love for artist Russell Cheney during a time before homosexual love and marriage were accepted. The sister of Jimmy's first serious boyfriend shows up at a book signing for Jimmy's new novel and hands him a letter that sends him spinning back to memories of the first man he ever loved. James describes his sexual awakening and recalls haunting moments with Gregory, whose self-destructive personality was part of Jimmy's impetus for writing American Scholar. Horrigan's novel, which weaves in the study of Queer Theory, Jimmy's sexual awakening, and fears of the AIDS virus then sweeping across the globe. Horrigan whips back and forth from that difficult time to 2016, when his now middle-aged protagonist is now a professor and published author, but political polarization following the presidential election has inspired new fears throughout the gay community. Born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania, Patrick E. Horrigan received his BA from The Catholic University of America and his PhD from Columbia University. He is the author of the novel Pennsylvania Station (Lethe Press; Indie Book Award finalist for best LGBTQ2 fiction) and the novel Portraits at an Exhibition (Lethe Press; winner of the Dana Award for fiction as well as the Mary Lynn Kotz Art-in-Literature Award, sponsored by the Library of Virginia and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts). His other works include the memoir Widescreen Dreams: Growing up Gay at the Movies (University of Wisconsin Press), the play Messages for Gary: A Drama in Voicemail, and (with Eduardo Leanez) the solo show “You Are Confused”! He has written artists' catalogue essays for Thion's LIMI-TATE: DRAWINGS OF LIFE AND DREAMS (cueB Gallery, London) and Ernesto Pujol's LOSS OF FAITH (Galeria Ramis Barquet, New York). His essay “The Inner Life of Ordinary People” appears in Anthony Enns' and Christopher R. Smit's “Screening Disability: Essays on Cinema and Disability” (University Press of America). Horrigan and Eduardo Leanez are the hosts of “Actors with Accents”, a recurring variety show in Manhattan. Winner of Long Island University's David Newton Award for Excellence in Teaching, he taught literature for twenty-five years at LIU Brooklyn. In today's episode, I spoke with Rachel Buxbaum about trauma and body relationships. We had a really interesting conversation about the intersection between the two. Although, I work strictly as a dietitian and not as a therapist, I always say, you can't take the therapeutic component out of the relationship with one's body. Peoples relationship with food and body are so interconnected with so many areas of life. A few books Rachel recommended on these topics are "Disorders of the Self" by Ralph Klein, though it's a very clinical, technique-focused book. For the casual reader - "Schopenhauer's Porcupines," which tackles similar dynamics in a very digestible, accessible way. Luepnitz, D. A. (2002). Schopenhauer's porcupines: Intimacy and its dilemmas: Five stories of psychotherapy. Basic Books (AZ). Masterson, J. F., & Klein, R. (2013). Disorders of the self: New therapeutic horizons: The Masterson approach. Routledge. Rachel Buxbaum is a PhD candidate at LIU-Brooklyn's doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. She currently practices cognitive-behavioral therapy at New York Presbyterian's Gracie Square Hospital, and psychodynamic-analytic therapy at the Psychological Services Center of LIU-Brooklyn, where she also conducts research and mentors junior therapists. Rachel is an adjunct psychology professor at College of Mount Saint Vincent for courses including Social Psychology and Counseling and Interviewing Skills. Her social-clinical psychology research focuses on structural trauma, mistrust of the medical and mental healthcare systems, and ways that therapists can attend more empathically and effectively to their patients' fears of being vulnerable to the therapeutic process. Matt and Steve are bringing you this week's news and updates in Pittsburgh sports. From NCAA hoops coverage to major league content for NFL, NHL, and MLB, if it's happening in (or in some cases affecting) Pittsburgh, this is where you'll find out about it. If you're a fan of soccer or golf, Matt and Steve have some highlights there as well. This week's show notes: Penguins- Pens trade for Erik Gudbranson who is considered one of the worst D Men by the numbers he is listed as mor Physical than effective. He is signed through 2021. The Pen also picked up D Man Chris Wideman from the Panthers to try to sure up the Blue line . Derick Brassard who Pens traded to Panthers is now with the Avalanche. Former Pen, Haglin who was traded to the kings earlier this season is now with the Caps. Biggest one in my eyes is Mats Zuccarello to the Stars. In the last few games, the Pens have had some bad outings, getting shelled by the sharks 4-0 and a total give away game in the Stadium Series Out door game in Philly last Saturday losing in OT 4-3. Murray is letting in weak goals, the Defense isn’t clearing pucks, lots of giveaways in the natural zone, the offense isn’t keeping the zone and putting puck on net. Ice conditions last Saturday were shit, we lost Doumalin and Letang on same play in first, lots of weird bounces. Blue Jackets tonight. 20 games left in season and the Pens are on the outside looking in. Riverhounds- came to a 1-1 tie with Pitt last Friday and 1-0 win over Bethlehem Steel last Sunday. This Friday March 1st the Akron Zips come to Highmark @3pm and Sunday the 3rd Lansing Ignite FC at 1PM, March 9th Toronto FC @2pm for last preseason game. all Preseason Matches are Free to attend. The Regular Season starts on the road with the Tampa Bay Rowdies March 16th and the first 4 games of the season are on the road. First home game is April 20th. PGA Tour- Dustin Johnson with a commanding win at the WGC Mexico Open with a -21. Rory was 2nd with -16. Was a really chilling course, very tight and narrow with trees lining the fairways and in just damn tough places. Club selection was key here and Lots of conservative play. Tiger the most. Who finished 10th. Next week is the Honda Classic to start the Florida Swing. Lots of the big names are taking this week off after the Calli swing and Mexico. We aren’t far out from the Masters folks that has been pushed back to the second weekend in April. NCAA Hoops- Zion Williamson had some Shoe issues and is listed Day To Day for Duke which fell to Number 3 with the loss to UNC last week and a struggle with the Orangemen Saturday. You top 5, Gonzaga, Virginia, Duke, Kentucky, and UNC. Michigan St beat Michigan last Saturday in a huge big 10 matchup. Pitt- Still Struggling in the ACC with a loss to GT last week. Clemson Comes in this Wednesday and their Panthers head to Virginia Saturday. WVU- also having a down year with a recent Loss top Baylor and they have TCU headed into Morgantown tonight. Robert Morris- had two good wins over LIU Brooklyn and StFrancis and the colonials head to Sacred heart Thursday. 2nd in the Northeast. Duquesne- put together 2 good wins over GW and George Mason. They have the Bonnies away tomorrow. 5th in A10 Pirates- Putting together a decent spring, with a 3-1 record in the Grapefruit Kang having a few homers the other afternoon. The Pitching staff is the talk of the team. It’s early, we will see how it shakes out. MLB News-Rockies 3rd Baseman Nolan Arenado finalizing 8yr extension for 255 million making him highest paid Annual Salary for position player.. Bryce Harper still out there but reports of him headed to Philly. Cutch probably most honest player in MLB, 3 yr 50 million is why he signed in Philly. , Josh Harrison Signed in Detroit for 1 year 2 million with 1 mill more in incentives. Steelers- AB saga continues and Lev Bell has several teams after him though the Steelers can still tag him in a few ways. Indy Combine is underway this week. Anything else?
