We're officially getting deeper into our Road to Doomsday, and this week we're revisiting Avengers: Infinity War, a movie that changed the MCU forever. But the real question is: what did Infinity War leave behind that could come back in Avengers: Doomsday? We brought in our brother Anthony from Talkin Ish: A Podcast Amongst Friends and first-timer CJ from Toontastic Journeys to break down the movie, hunt for possible Easter eggs, and throw out theories that could potentially show up in Doomsday. Will the Russo Brothers bring that same explosive energy from Infinity War into Doomsday? Will Doom and Tony Stark actually have a connection? And, of course, we circle back to our ongoing debate: Are post-credit scenes actually part of the movie? We get into all of that and more!Lock in, and drop your Infinity War HOT TAKES and theories in the comments!

'AVENGERS ACADEMY' month rolls on as the boys are joined by Korbin Zvokel ('Kody and Korbin Have a Podcast') to take a look back at 'AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR'.
Avengers: Doomsday is only three months away—and somehow, every Marvel fan is already waiting for a different version of it. Eric examines the impossible expectations surrounding the MCU's first Avengers movie since Endgame, why Doomsday doesn't hold all the same cards as Infinity War, and how theories, rumored cameos, and years of anticipation can become promises Marvel never actually made. Drawing from his experience with The Last Jedi and its divisive reception, he also confronts a personal fear: what happens if you love the movie, but the discourse makes enjoying it feel like choosing a side? We don't owe Marvel automatic praise—but perhaps we owe ourselves the chance to experience the movie before the discourse experiences it for us. ⭐ Enjoying Marvel Maniac? Perché ho rivisto in sala anche Spiderman brand new day e...
Dungeons & Dragons 2 has a finished script, and the studio that made the first one already passed on it. Avengers Doomsday is deep in edits, the Russo brothers just called their script a living organism, and everyone lost their minds about it. Squeaks opens the show with a full report from the Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco, where the Moscone Center got taken over by TCG, Pokémon Go, Unite, and the new Pokémon Champions app, and where buying a single piece of exclusive merch turned into a timed-entry website that crashed on everybody. Then Allen Dunford joins Frank to talk about The Samurai Redneck Zombie Killer #1, the Comic Soup book he co-wrote with Kit Wallis that funded its previous record in a single day. Allen gets into the grindhouse and manga influences, why the story stays locked on two survivors instead of a community, and the Geek Freaks variant cover on the Kickstarter. Frank closes with the first News Quickfire, a tighter news segment built on listener feedback. The news run covers D&D 2's script and where the project could land, Netflix developing a live action Ravenloft while Forgotten Realms gets canceled, HBO's Baldur's Gate series with Craig Mazin, the real reasons Honor Among Thieves underperformed, the Avengers Doomsday improv conversation, Jim Cummings losing Darkwing Duck to a recast, and a full status check on Gargoyles, Hey Arnold, Doug, and the 90s reboot slate. Chapters 0:00 Intro: Patreon Upgrades, SideQuest Relaunch, and Show Changes 1:34 Squeaks at Pokémon Worlds: Moscone Center, Pokémon XP, and the Tournaments 5:21 The Merch Problem: Pokémon Center Lines, Resellers, and Scalpers 10:12 Guest: Allen Dunford on The Samurai Redneck Zombie Killer 21:37 Seven Years Indie, the Comic Soup Slate, and the Geek Freaks Variant 27:30 News Quickfire: D&D 2's Finished Script, Ravenloft, and Baldur's Gate 34:14 Avengers Doomsday, the Russos, and the Improv Panic 40:52 Darkwing Duck Recasts Jim Cummings, Plus the 90s Reboot Roundup 48:10 Wrap-Up and Listener Feedback Key Takeaways Pokémon Worlds was an incredible event wrapped around a broken buying experience. The Pokémon Center on site required a timed booking through a site that crashed, the second merch area turned out to be reseller tables selling singles for hundreds, and Squeaks walked out having spent twenty dollars and bought his Worlds backpack online later at roughly four times the price. Next year's Worlds moves to Singapore, so US fans have no idea when it comes back. The Samurai Redneck Zombie Killer started as a title and a cover. Kit Wallis brought Allen the name and the first five pages, posted the cover to Instagram, and the response was so far outside his normal engagement that they fast tracked the whole book. It beat Comic Soup's previous best campaign total in a single day. Allen and Kit built the book around two people instead of a community, borrowing the Leon and Mathilda dynamic from The Professional, right down to naming the samurai Lee. The art uses a manga inspired color scheme with the first five pages in full color before shifting to black, white, and splashes of red. Paramount Skydance passed on Dungeons & Dragons 2 as financially unviable, but Hasbro is shopping it. Honor Among Thieves earned around $205 million on a roughly $150 million budget split with Hasbro's E1, opened four days before The Super Mario Bros. Movie, landed a month after the OGL boycott, and never told non fans it was a family comedy. The Avengers Doomsday improv worry is overblown. The Russos worked the same way on Infinity War and Endgame, their visual reference is Once Upon a Time in the West, and Robert Downey Jr. said he would not have come back without them. Improv on a movie this size gets spent on one on one character scenes, not on Sentinels and VFX plates. Jim Cummings and Terry McGovern are both being recast in the Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg Darkwing Duck reboot, seven years after Cummings recorded the pilot that got it greenlit. The 2017 DuckTales storyline he voiced was about an actor destroyed by a Darkwing Duck recast. Gargoyles' live action version is dead but the animated one is alive, Hey Arnold is in conversations, an adult Doug has concept art out, and King of the Hill is the template everyone is pointing to. Quotes "Twenty bucks, because it was a horrible experience when it comes to purchasing anything." - Squeaks "It is a black mark on the Pokémon brand right now." - Frank "He had the title already. It does what it says on the label." - Allen Dunford "We're not focusing on a community. We're just focusing on two people trying to survive this thing." - Allen Dunford "In the indie sphere, you're not just the writer. The book doesn't stop at the script." - Allen Dunford "Improv works better when it's scaled down. It doesn't work super well when it scales up." - Frank All news discussed on this episode comes from GeekFreaksPodcast.com. The Time Stone is mysteriously absent from several pieces of Avengers: Endgame Encore promotional art—and while that could mean absolutely nothing, it sent Marvel Maniac straight to the conspiracy board. What if Doctor Strange never gave Thanos the real Time Stone in Infinity War? What if the Ancient One recognized exactly what Strange had done when Bruce told her he willingly surrendered it—and used the same trick herself? Eric builds a theory around a possible Sorcerer Supreme “surrender protocol,” asks whether the Reality Stone and Thanos' other Infinity Stones could explain what really happened to Vision, and follows the idea all the way through three universe-altering Snaps. Could Thanos, Hulk, and Tony Stark have all used five genuine Infinity Stones and one magical counterfeit? And if nobody ever truly controlled Time, could there be consequences still waiting for us in Avengers: Doomsday? It's absolutely a theory. It could be completely wrong. But if Marvel wants us to watch Endgame again before Doomsday… maybe we should start asking why. ⭐ Enjoying Marvel Maniac? Follow the show so you never miss an episode. Fresh off the heels of the success of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier', Marvel quickly announced that the Russo Brothers would be returning to helm the next film in the Captain America franchise. What then followed was a series of announcements that gradually sent its fandom into a shared delirium. Robert Downey Jr would be reprising his role as Iron Man...this time as an antagonist. The film would loosely adapt the famed Civil War storyline. The Black Panther would be making his MCU debut in the film. Then the big one: Marvel had reached a deal with Sony Studios for part ownership of the most important character in their expansive roster. Spider-Man would be making his MCU debut in the film, played by relative up-and-comer Tom Holland. It was a lot to whet a fan's appetite, but it also raised slight concerns that maybe they were, quite literally, writing cheques that their mouths couldn't cash. Well, 10 years on, did they cash that cheque? Is 'Captain America: Civil War' one of the best MCU films? Would Steve & Natasha be part of the KKK? If you have concerns about excessive movie length or predictable movie endings, this discussion highlights exactly why those issues might hurt the final product. We explore why bigger budgets do not always guarantee a better viewer experience.
The first full Avengers: Doomsday trailer finally dropped, and Adam argues the timing says more than the footage. Why Marvel sat on a strong trailer until the last possible moment, what that hesitation says about the December collision with Dune: Part Three, and why "Dunesday" is not the Barbenheimer repeat everyone's calling it. Plus the real question hanging over the film: were Infinity War and Endgame the Russos, or were they Markus and McFeely? And with the slate beyond Secret Wars nearly empty, what does Comic-Con need to deliver this weekend?
This week we reach into the MVM Archives to bring you all the behind-the-scenes stories from the making of 2018's Ant-Man And The Wasp! How did Marvel fill the void after the shocking Infinity War? Marvel has been teasing a Nova project for nearly a decade, and it is finally moving. In this Geek Freaks Headlines update, Frank breaks down the Deadline report that Michael Waldron, the writer behind Loki season one, is developing a Nova feature film and possibly directing it. Frank gives a quick explainer on who Nova is, from Richard Rider's Green Lantern-style origin as a regular kid from Long Island to the younger Sam Alexander legacy version. He also lays out why Nova is the perfect key to restarting the cosmic side of the MCU now that Guardians of the Galaxy has wrapped, how Thanos destroying Xandar off screen in Infinity War already set up the origin story, and why the Annihilation storyline could anchor a future Marvel phase. Plus, the Glen Powell fan casting conversation, and an important reality check: this is early development, and nothing is greenlit yet.Timestamps:0:00 Nova movie in early development with Michael Waldron0:16 Who is Nova? The countdown reaches the last film James Gunn directed before the firing, and Adam makes the case that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is better than the first, and the entry most burdened by the machine around it. Why nearly every character arc here exists to clear the decks for Infinity War, how the Yondu rehabilitation works despite its setup, why the found-family theme rings hollow for a team that acts like coworkers, and why Guardians is the sub-franchise the crossovers damaged most. Plus the Awesome Mix Vol. 2 and the needle-drop grammar it taught the entire MCU. A full 5 out of 5. Next week: Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Jim Hill and Dan Graney dig into a wild week of Marvel speculation, from murky Avengers: Doomsday leak drama to Sony's carefully controlled Spider-Man: Brand New Day rollout. They also spotlight the Muppets' latest Marvel crossover before Dan unveils a Doctor Doom theory that may reframe Robert Downey Jr.'s MCU return entirely. Plus, brisket, burnt ends, Muppet Treasure Island covers, and one very big question: what if Tony Stark was never the rule, but the exception? HIGHLIGHTS • Jim and Dan break down the blurry Avengers: Doomsday footage leak and the debate over whether it was real, AI-enhanced, or both. • Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo Brothers tease Doomsday as a structurally ambitious, emotionally complex follow-up to Infinity War and Endgame. • Spider-Man: Brand New Day ticket sales arrive with a tiny cast video instead of the trailer fans expected. • The new Brand New Day trailer points toward a Spidey-versus-Hulk showdown and a world where almost no one remembers Peter Parker. • The hosts dig into the mystery of who still remembers Peter Parker, from Savage Hulk to a possible Jean Grey connection. • Marvel's The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe celebrates The Muppet Show's 50th anniversary with Kermit, Gonzo, Deadpool, and one very mean Uncle Ben joke. • Dan lays out his big Doctor Doom theory: what if Doom is the multiversal constant and Tony Stark was the one heroic anomaly? • Jim connects the theory back to Doctor Strange's “one” winning timeline and the possibility that the MCU only ever had one good Tony Stark. Adam revisits Captain America: Civil War as part of the Countdown to Doomsday and looks at why the movie was such an important turning point for the MCU. The episode covers how Civil War steadied Marvel after a bumpy Phase Two, introduced Black Panther and Spider-Man without derailing the story, and created the fracture that made Infinity War and Endgame possible. Adam also digs into the wider 2016 context, including the way Civil War arrived alongside Batman v Superman and helped turn Marvel vs. DC from normal franchise debate into a larger culture-war proxy fight. From the airport battle to the rise of Snyderverse discourse, this episode uses Civil War to unpack how superhero movies became more than just superhero movies.

It's Marvel Monday and the Avengers face their ultimate challenge! ABOUT AVENGERS: ENDGAME After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers assemble once more in order to reverse Thanos' actions and restore balance to the universe. Suddenly, his wife and kids turn to dust and he has no idea why. 23 days later, Tony Stark & Nebula are stuck in space together. She's helping him heal. They're about to run out of oxygen when Captain Marvel shows up to save them. She brings them back to Earth where they're reunited with Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Rhodey & Rocket. The happy reunion doesn't last long. Tony does one of his famous freak outs, saying things he will most certainly regret. Captain Marvel gets the rundown & decides she's going to go kill Thanos herself. Everyone is like this witch shows up out of nowhere and now wants to be the hero, but Thor likes her and says we should go. So they track Thanos down. He's like oh hi. I destroyed the stones. My bad. So Thor cuts his head off. Fast forward 5 years and Scott randomly pops out of the quantum realm machine, very confused. So he goes to talk to the Avengers about his experience. He tells Cap & Natasha about how for him, the 5 years was only 5 minutes. Maybe there's some way to use the quantum realm to go back in time and stop Thanos. Only one guy is smart enough to help - Tony. But now Tony has a daughter & he's not interested in helping. But Tony can't forget about it. He pokes around and figures out how it could work. Scott, Cap, and Natasha turn to the next smartest guy they know - Bruce. He agrees to help and they do some experiments but nothing overly helpful. Tony shows up with a time traveling device and says it's time to get the band back together. They do some testing and find out they can go to the past and bring something back without changing anything. So they have a plan - team up and go get the stones and bring them to the present which would prevent Thanos from being able to do his thing. Banner, Lang, Rogers, and Stark travel back to New York during Loki's 2012 invasion. At the Sanctum Sanctorum, Banner persuades the Ancient One to hand over the Time Stone by promising that all of the Infinity Stones will eventually be returned to their rightful places in time. Plus, Doctor Strange gave it up willingly in his time which is good enough for the Ancient One. Meanwhile, at Stark Tower, Rogers successfully recovers the Mind Stone from Hydra agents posing as S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives. However, Stark and Lang's plan to steal the Space Stone goes wrong, allowing Loki to escape with it. To recover from the setback, Rogers and Stark travel further back to 1970, where Stark obtains an earlier version of the Space Stone and unexpectedly gets the chance to speak with his father. Rogers steals additional Pym Particles needed for their return trip and catches a glimpse of his lost love, Peggy Carter. Meanwhile, Thor and Rocket journey to Asgard in 2013. Rocket extracts the Reality Stone from Jane Foster, while Thor reunites with his mother, Frigga, who snaps him out of his funk and gets his swag and his hammer back. In 2014, Nebula and Rhodey travel to Morag and secure the Power Stone before Peter Quill can retrieve it. Hawkeye and Black Widow head to Vormir, where Red Skull explains that the Soul Stone can only be obtained through the sacrifice of someone you love. Romanoff gives her life so Barton can claim the Stone. As Rhodes and Nebula prepare to return to the present, Nebula's cybernetic implants connect with those of her past self. This allows the 2014 version of Thanos to learn about his future defeat and the Avengers' plan to reverse it. Thanos captures Nebula and sends her 2014 counterpart into the future to infiltrate the Avengers and pave the way for his arrival. So they all return back in the present with the stones, sans Natasha. They put the stones on an iron glove and Bruce agrees that he's probably the best dude for the job. He snaps and immediately collapses. Hawkeye immediately gets a phone call from his wife. It worked!!! But the happiness doesn't last long because 2014 Gamora used the Time Machine to get 2014 Thanos to show up and shoot the Avengers compound up big time. He's like thanks for getting all of the stones together for me. It's giant fight time, folks. And it's not looking great for the Avengers despite the fact that Thor's hammer saw Cap as worthy enough to use it. But just when it's looking bleak, Doctor Strange returns by opening portals for the rest of the Avengers to show up and join the battle. Avengers assemble and IT'S AWESOME! It's a tough battle and Scott is busy getting his van Time Machine up and running since Thanos destroyed the other one so that they can return the stones. Captain Marvel shows up last minute and it's looking like they might do it but Thanos makes the van explode. Thanos gets the gauntlet back but Captain Marvel stops him from snapping his fingers. He's able to free himself. It's looking like a lost cause but Tony looks over at Strange who holds up 1 finger, showing Tony that this is the 1 in 14 million chances they win. Tony is able to get the stones and snap his fingers and make Thanos and his baddies disappear. But unfortunately the blast was too much for Tony and he dies. At Tony's funeral, all the Avengers show up to show their respects. They create a new Time Machine and Captain America goes to return all of the stones to their proper time. But he doesn't return to present day. Well, he does but he's old. He decided to stay in 1970 and grow old with Peggy Carter. Steve gives Sam his shield. We have a new Captain America now. Season Three of Geekstorians begins with the moment geek culture stopped knocking on the door and started owning the building. In this episode, Dave looks at the rise of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from Marvel's desperate rights situation and the gamble of Iron Man, to Kevin Feige's phase-planned architecture, the genre trick that kept the films from feeling like a production line, and the extraordinary test of asking audiences to follow a talking raccoon and a sentient tree into space. Then we follow the machine to its greatest achievement: Infinity War and Endgame. Two films that asked audiences to trust more than a decade of storytelling, and somehow delivered an ending that felt earned. But what happens after the perfect ending? This episode also looks at the post-Endgame problem, Disney+, Phase Four, the Kang issue, and Marvel's attempt to rebuild around Doctor Doom, Robert Downey Jr., the Russo Brothers, the Fantastic Four, and the next great convergence point.Because the MCU's real superpower was never just spectacle. It was trust. And once you build the house everybody else moves into, the architect has to keep building.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/geektown. [School of Movies 2026] The main event Electric State episode was recorded at the start of the year with Willow, a powder-keg, ready to go thermonuclear. We decided to include it in MA.I. as it is absolutely thematically relevent. What we have here is an adaptation of a haunting 2018 art book by Simon Stålenhag depicting an alternate 1997 where mankind has slowly descended into an advertising-plastered corporate Matrix. A teenage girl and her robot companion travel America while she recounts their story in dreamlike prose, accompanied by unsettling imagery of people who have become trapped in Virtual reality while mechanical behemoths stalk the land. The 2025 Netflix version is the most repugnant, empty $320m blockbuster bastardisation of elegant art we have ever seen, and it is all the worse coming from directors the Russo Brothers, Marcus & McFeely, the superstar writing team that made the MCU great, the legendary Alan Silvestri composing, even Jeffrey Ford, the editor of Captain America: The First Avenger, The Winter Soldier and Civil War and Iron Man 3, AND The Avengers, and Age of Ultron and Infinity War and Endgame. Basically almost everyone at the top of the production team is coming back for Doomsday and Secret Wars. What the hell happened? Following that nightmare we have Ron's Gone Wrong, a much more compassionate little 2021 animated movie about another kid with another robot, but this one takes the opposite approach of highlighting how frighteningly easy it is to become trapped by 24/7 performative self-presentation on Social Media. Nowhere near enough people saw it, and we're hoping to get a few of you to change that. By that same token, absolutely everyone is advised to watch the criminally underseen gem that concludes MA.I. next week... Companion. The Curious Archive video: The Breathtaking Horror of The Electric State There is a much better adaptation of Stålenhag's art that we are currently watching; a streaming monoseries named Tales from the Loop (2020). It is quiet and unsettling and patient. This weekend's After School Club: Upgrade & I Am Mother And Next Week's Main Event again: Companion

The Fork In Your Ear Ep#212 Neo Dome Awakening - Podcast Description In this episode, Tim and Nate kick things off with their usual chaotic banter (including Nate's rare oversleep and some classic "beard commentary"), then dive into a packed show covering Entertainment, Technology, Video Games, and life updates.
This week's episode drifts from real-life chaos into full-on simulation theory territory—because apparently that's just how things go now. Real Life Ben's week kicks off with a perfect storm: his mom's in town, the power steering pump dies, and suddenly he's asking the very real question—is it finally time to go electric? In the middle of all that, he stumbles across 1D Chess (https://rowan441.github.io/1dchess/chess.html), which somehow takes chess, removes a dimension, and still manages to be confusing. Devon spent the week getting absolutely wrecked by a mystery illness that took out the whole family. Not COVID, not the flu—just one of those "you're not in control" reminders from the universe. Steven brings the nerd balance: Star Wars: Shatterpoint with Greg, continued love for Project Hail Mary, and early buzz that Avengers: Doomsday might actually land with that Infinity War-level impact. He also highlights Vantage (https://vantage.rulepop.com/#), a sci-fi card game that plays like a choose-your-own-adventure. Future or Now Ben highlights Phyphox (https://phyphox.org/), an app that turns your phone into a portable science lab. It's one of those tools that quietly reminds you how powerful your everyday tech really is—especially when people are using it for real experiments (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47737376). Steven brings the heavy hitter this week: scientists have successfully mapped and simulated the brain of a fruit fly—Drosophila melanogaster—and used it to control a virtual version of it. Not full human emulation, but it's a serious step in that direction. If you want to go down the rabbit hole, check out the coverage (https://www.profolus.com/topics/scientists-copied-fruit-fly-brain-put-inside-computer/, https://futurism.com/science-energy/research-fly-brain-matrix) and the demo itself (https://youtu.be/e21OUXPlnhk?si=GdB3dY-aY_12SIt9). Devon wisely sits this one out before things get too existential. Book Club This week's story is "Terms of Enlightenment" by Patrick Hurley (https://www.lightspeedmagazine.com/default/terms-of-enlightenment/), and the discussion goes deep. We get into the "matrix-ness" of the story—what it means to live in a constructed reality and whether enlightenment is about escaping it or understanding it. There's a strong thread of Eastern philosophy throughout, especially when Ben dives into Zen koans and the idea that truth isn't something you're told—it's something you experience by breaking your own thinking patterns. The conversation circles around illusion, perception, and whether "hacking reality" is just metaphor… or something closer than we think. Next Week's Book Club We're reading "Morning Shed" by Namita Krishnamurthy (https://strangehorizons.com/wordpress/fiction/morning-shed/). Every few years, the narrator's face erupts in eyes. So… yeah. That's where we're headed next. If nothing else, this episode makes a pretty strong case that the line between science fiction and reality is getting thinner by the week—and we're all just trying to keep up.

There's a moment in Captain America: Civil War that lasts about three seconds. Tony Stark's head is down.He forces himself to look at Steve.“Did you know?” That hesitation doesn't just break a friendship — it fractures the Avengers. In this episode of Marvel Maniac, we break down the emotional and strategic consequences of that bunker scene. From Tony's guilt after New York, to Steve's loyalty to Bucky, to T'Challa choosing peace over vengeance, this is one of the most mature conflicts in blockbuster history. But what if Steve had told Tony the truth after Age of Ultron?Would the Avengers have stayed united?Would Thanos have ever gotten the Snap? We explore how Civil War may have set the board for Infinity War — and how one moment of silence changed everything.

Guardians of the Galaxy wasn't just a cosmic side quest — it was the emotional on-ramp to the entire Infinity Saga. In this retrospective episode of Marvel Maniac, we look back at the humble beginnings of Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and Drax, while viewing the film through the lens of everything that comes later — from Infinity War and Endgame to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. From the iconic opening set to “Come and Get Your Love,” to the underplayed introduction of the Power Stone, to the quiet seeds planted for Thanos and the tragedy that follows — this episode is about why Guardians still matters, and why it hits harder now than it ever did in 2014.
