Thirty years ago today, Sharia supremacists attacked New York City's World Trade Center, narrowly missing its destruction, ultimately wrought by one of the perpetrators' uncle, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, on 9/11 eight years later. Arguably, the latter act would not have happened if America had initially understood the totalitarian Islamic doctrine that impelled such violence against us. Instead, as the '93 bombing's lead prosecutor, Andrew McCarthy, observed, we engaged in “willful blindness” about Sharia and failed to learn that it demands faithful adherents practice jihad. Fortunately, Mr. Trump's pick to lead the FBI, Director Kash Patel, and his splendid new deputy, Dan Bongino, have the clarity of vision and the courage to end our persistent willful blindness and the peril it represents. They should begin by designating and treating the Sharia-enforcing Muslim Brotherhood as the terrorist organization it is. This is Frank Gaffney.

On this edition of Free City Radio we hear from Shayana Kadidal, a Senior Managing Attorney at the Center for Constitutional Rights in New York. In this interview we hear about the plea deal that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, detained by the U.S. since 2003, largely at Guantánamo Bay, which was shut down in the last period of the Democratic Biden administration. The interview places important context on understanding the realities of indefinite detention and the inherent injustice of Guantánamo Bay as persistent across both Democratic and Republic administrations in the US. Critically also we hear about the combined role that both legal advocacy and activism for the rights of those unjustly detained has done in securing the release of many formally detained at Guantánamo. This Day in Legal History: Palmer RaidsOn January 2, 1920, Attorney General Mitchell Palmer orchestrated a sweeping crackdown on suspected radicals in what came to be known as the "Palmer Raids." Over 500 federal agents, joined by local law enforcement, conducted coordinated raids across 33 U.S. cities, arresting between 6,000 and 10,000 individuals. The targets were primarily immigrants accused of being communists, anarchists, or other political radicals. Many of those detained were held without warrants or evidence, and legal proceedings against them often lacked due process. These raids were the culmination of the first Red Scare, a period marked by paranoia about leftist ideologies following the Russian Revolution and a wave of domestic labor unrest. Palmer justified the operation as a necessary defense against a supposed revolutionary threat, publishing his infamous article, The Case Against the 'Reds,' which fanned public fears. However, the raids quickly drew criticism for their unconstitutional practices. Detainees were denied legal counsel, held in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, and subjected to deportation without fair hearings.Prominent legal figures and organizations denounced the Palmer Raids, seeing them as a gross abuse of government power. Critics argued that Palmer's actions not only violated individual rights but also reflected an opportunistic attempt to bolster his political ambitions. The backlash led to the founding of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which emerged as a leading advocate against such government overreach. In hindsight, the Palmer Raids are a stark reminder of how fear and political expediency can undermine constitutional protections. They stand as a cautionary tale about the dangers of sacrificing civil liberties in the name of national security, a pattern that has echoed through subsequent decades.Law schools are navigating significant changes as they head into 2025, with notable trends shaping the legal education landscape. Enrollment is surging, with applications for fall 2025 up 25% compared to last year. This follows a 6% increase in applicants and a 5% rise in first-year students in 2024. Interest in legal careers appears driven by the prominent role of law in current events, including the recent presidential election. The competition for spots, particularly at elite schools, is intensifying, with a sharp increase in applicants holding top LSAT scores.Diversity in law school classes remains a critical issue. While the overall diversity of the 2024 entering class held steady, Black and Hispanic enrollment at top-ranked "T-14" law schools dropped by 8% and 9%, respectively, following the U.S. Supreme Court's 2023 affirmative action ban. Experts anticipate further impacts on diversity as fewer undergraduates of color enter the pipeline, with effects becoming clearer by 2028. For now, Black and Hispanic applicants are up significantly, reflecting continued interest in legal education.Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is beginning to influence law school curricula, though adoption varies widely. While only a small percentage of faculty actively teach AI-focused courses, some schools, like UC Berkeley and Arizona State, now offer AI-specific degrees or certificates. Legal writing courses and law clinics are increasingly integrating AI tools, responding to the legal profession's rapid adoption of generative AI technologies. Advocates argue that law schools must accelerate these efforts to meet employer and industry demands.Law school trends to watch in 2025 | ReutersA U.S. military appeals court has upheld the validity of plea deals for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the September 11 attacks, and two accomplices. This decision follows an earlier ruling by a military judge stating that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's attempt to invalidate the agreements in August was untimely. Under these plea deals, the three men could plead guilty to their roles in the 9/11 attacks in exchange for avoiding the death penalty. The Pentagon has not commented on the ruling but previously indicated that Austin was surprised by the plea deals, which were made independently of his office. The 9/11 attacks killed nearly 3,000 people and led to the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan. Mohammed remains one of the most notable detainees at Guantanamo Bay, a detention center established in 2002 to hold foreign militant suspects. The case has renewed criticism of Guantanamo Bay, with human rights advocates condemning the use of torture and calling for accountability. Separately, on the same day as the court ruling, the Pentagon announced the repatriation of Ridah Bin Saleh Al-Yazidi, one of Guantanamo's longest-held detainees, to Tunisia after being detained for over 20 years without charge. The facility currently houses 26 detainees, 14 of whom are eligible for transfer.US military appeals court says plea deals related to 9/11 attacks may proceed | ReutersCorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs faced mounting pressure in 2024, a trend likely to continue into 2025. Conservative activists, such as Robby Starbuck, successfully pushed major corporations like Walmart and Ford to modify or scale back their DEI initiatives. Starbuck's efforts have caught the attention of investors, with some threatening shareholder proposals in response to unwanted changes. Companies are also adjusting their language and communication around DEI to avoid political backlash, with organizations like Citigroup and Uber removing terms like "anti-racist" from corporate filings. The legal and political landscape is shifting as well. Trump's incoming administration, supported by a Republican-led Congress, plans to restrict corporate DEI through measures like prohibiting SEC workforce disclosures and barring government contracts for companies with DEI programs. Simultaneously, legal challenges from groups like America First Legal are targeting DEI policies as discriminatory under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, with lawsuits filed against companies like IBM's Red Hat.Some corporations now list DEI as a potential risk factor in their filings, signaling concerns about legal or reputational fallout from their diversity efforts. Despite the scrutiny, many businesses quietly continue pursuing diversity goals, while some executives maintain that inclusivity is essential for long-term success. This balancing act reflects the growing complexity of navigating DEI in a polarized environment.Corporate DEI Programs Recoil and Rebrand as Pressure MountsIn my column this week, I contend that if the Department of Government Efficiency, which will not be a real executive agency, wants to make the IRS more efficient it should do so by ordering more audits of wealthy taxpayers. Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy's push for government efficiency could start by significantly improving federal revenue by addressing the $696 billion annual tax gap—the difference between taxes owed and collected. Research suggests that better auditing of high-income taxpayers, without requiring new legislation, could recover substantial unpaid taxes, aligning with the duo's mission of improving efficiency. Studies show that audits of wealthier individuals yield a high return on investment, deterring future tax evasion while reinforcing compliance. The IRS, weakened by years of budget cuts, requires more personnel to handle labor-intensive audits of complex high-income returns effectively. Targeted funding has already proven successful, as the Inflation Reduction Act enabled the IRS to recover over $1 billion from high-net-worth taxpayers. For every $1 spent auditing a taxpayer in the 90th percentile, the IRS recouped $12 in taxes owed – a truly staggering return on investment. However, the agency still struggles to match its 1995 staffing levels, highlighting a critical need for further investment.Closing the tax gap would not only generate significant revenue but also restore fairness by ensuring progressive tax rates function as intended. This effort is essential for creating an accurate picture of government resources and addressing fiscal responsibility. Whether Musk and Ramaswamy's commission will embrace this nuanced approach to tax administration remains to be seen, but don't hold your breath. A successful efficiency audit of the IRS hinges on informed decision-making and precision – something neither Musk nor Ramaswamy has evinced having in matters of politics.Musk, Ramaswamy Can Target Inefficiency by Closing the Tax Gap This is a public episode. Daily News Brief by TRT World

*) Israeli invasion in Gaza claims first civilian casualty of 2025 The New Year dawns tragically for Palestinians as Israeli forces escalate in Gaza. An air strike hit the Abu Dhaher family home in Bureij camp, killing eight-year-old Adam Farhallah—the first Palestinian civilian casualty of twenty-twenty-five. Meanwhile, National Campaign to Retrieve Martyrs' Bodies, a non-governmental organisation said Israel held the bodies of one-hundred-ninety-eight Palestinians in twenty-twenty-four. Separately Israeli media alleges that Hamas has proposed a week-long ceasefire, offering to provide a list of Israeli captives by the fourth day, awaiting Israel's response on extending peace or resuming conflict. *) South Korea warns against obstructing Yoon Suk-yeol's arrest South Korean authorities have warned that anyone obstructing the arrest of impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol could face prosecution. Supporters gathered outside his Seoul residence as officials pledged to enforce the arrest warrant by January-six. Yoon, stripped of his duties and facing insurrection charges, could face life imprisonment or the death penalty. His legal team has challenged the warrant, calling it “illegal.” *) Europe's Russian gas era ends as Ukraine transit stops Russian gas supplies to Europe through Ukraine ceased on New Year's Day as a five-year transit deal expired. It marks the end of a decades-long era of Russian dominance in the European gas market. The move comes as Europe has significantly reduced its reliance on Russian energy following the war in Ukraine. While the immediate market impact may be limited, the loss of this crucial supply route has significant geopolitical implications for both Russia and Europe. The halt in gas flows will have a significant impact on countries like Moldova, which relied on this pipeline. *) Thousands in Bangladesh call for prosecution of ousted PM Hasina Thousands rallied at the iconic Shaheed Minar in Dhaka, demanding justice for victims of Bangladesh's July uprising. The "March for Unity," led by students, called for ousted PM Sheikh Hasina's prosecution and a ban on her Awami League party. Hasina fled to India on August-five amid escalating violence, leaving behind a fractured nation. Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus's interim government now seeks international support for justice, while Hasina dismisses charges as a “political witch hunt.” *) US military court rules 9/11 plea deals can proceed A US military appeals court upheld plea deals for 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and two accomplices. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin had tried to invalidate the agreements, but a judge ruled he acted too late. The deals could spare the trio the death penalty in exchange for guilty pleas. Meanwhile, the Pentagon repatriated a Guantanamo detainee to Tunisia, marking another chapter in the detention facility's controversial history, as 26 inmates remain.

There's a new ‘sheriff' in town… and terrorists better watch out! In today's podcast, your Terrorist Therapist®, Carole Lieberman, M.D., explores some terror-related plans that will likely be upended. The Obama-Biden-Kamala White House has long tried to take the death penalty off the table for the 9/11 jihadis-including the mastermind, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his two henchmen, currently imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay. The controversial plea deal has been argued back and forth, with most victims' familiesand some in the Defense Department, opposed to sparing their lives. If this hearing is delayed until Trump takes office, known tobe tough on terror, he may well stop the plea deal in its tracks. Iran has grown silent on its threats of retaliation towards Israel, since Trump won the election because they know he doesn't want to be their BFF and won't throw money at them, unlike the current administration. They haven't given up on "Death to Israel!Death to America!” but, their focus is on continuing to search for an assassin to do Trump in. This Terrorist Therapist Show episode will also explore: Hamas attorneys' demands for Israel to pay for their defense of Oct 7 terrorists now in Israeli jails; the increasingly open support for Hamas and Hezbollah on the streets of America; how Doctors Without Borders are also without scruples; and how Radical Islamist beliefs about sexuality are a threat to women and girls worldwide.

The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (08/02/2024): 3:05pm- On Friday, Acting U.S. Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe held a press conference to address the agency's failures on July 13th in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania when former President Donald Trump was nearly assassinated at a campaign rally. Rowe stated: “The Secret Service takes full responsibility for the tragic events of July 13th.” He continued: “In no way should any state or local agency supporting us in Butler on July 13th be held responsible for a Secret Service failure.” 3:15pm- Secret Service Whistleblower's Damning Allegations: Susan Crabtree of RealClearPolitics writes: “Just days after Secret Service Acting Director Ronald Rowe denied playing a direct role in rejecting repeated requests for added security measures and assets for former President Trump, whistleblowers have come forward refuting those claims and blaming Rowe for some of the agency's security failures that led to the July 13 assassination attempt that nearly killed Trump and left rallygoer Corey Comperatore dead and two others wounded. Other whistleblowers are coming forward citing more systemic problems with the Secret Service, the vaunted agency whose primary job is to protect presidents, vice presidents and former presidents and their families. Those deep-seated long-term problems include nepotism and other non-merit-based favoritism, lowering standards and cutting corners in hiring – including failure to pass polygraph tests and accepting past hard drug use, retaliation for voicing security and other concerns, as well as uneven disciplinary action.” You can read Crabtree's full report here: https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2024/08/02/secret_service_whistleblowers_acting_chief_cut_security_assets__151382.html 3:40pm- Eli Lake—Reporter for The Free Press, Contributing Editor for Commentary Magazine, & Host of the Re-Education Podcast—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his latest article, “President Biden: Stand Up for the Venezuelan People.” You can read the article here: https://www.thefp.com/p/biden-stand-up-for-the-venezuelan-people 4:05pm- On Friday, the Democratic National Committee announced that Kamala Harris has won enough votes from party delegates to officially become the Democrat Party Presidential Nominee. Sen. Marshall: Google Is 'Using Algorithms to Campaign Against' Trump

Sen. Roger Marshall says he will launch an investigation into Google after the search engine suppressed content related to the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.  Google is “no longer functioning as a search engine that just assimilates” information, says Marshall, R-Kan., “but now they're using algorithms to campaign against President Trump.”  Initiating a Google search of “assassination attempt on president,” quickly reveals that Trump's name is not within the autofill of suggested searches, although former Presidents Harry Truman, Gerald Ford, and Ronald Reagan are.  Google enjoys legal protections under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. Those protections shield Google and other platforms, such as Facebook and X, from civil liability for the content users of the platform generate. But if Google wants to act as a publisher, like a news outlet, they should not enjoy Section 230 protections, Marshall says.  The Kansas Republican is calling on Google to explain what he regards as content suppression, but says he thinks that “if we had a strong commander in chief, that they would be intervening already.” Marshall joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss the investigation into what he asserts is Google's content suppression.  Marshall also weighs in on the plea deal reached with three terrorists behind the 9/11 attacks, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, described as the mastermind of the attacks. The deal takes the death penalty off the table for the terrorists imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in exchange for them pleading guilty to a number of charges, including the murders of nearly 3,000 people on Sept. 11, 2001. The Kansas lawmaker explains why he thinks the deal is a “slap in the face” to the men and women who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, and all who still suffer from physical injuries because of the terrorist attacks.  Enjoy the show!

//The Wire//2100Z August 2, 2024////ROUTINE////BLUF: QUANTICO TERRORISTS RELEASED ON BAIL BY ICE. WARTIME PREPARATIONS CONTINUE IN MIDDLE EAST.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Middle East: Preparations for a widening war continue to made among all parties. An increase in U.S. military aviation traffic has been noted throughout the Middle East theatre, along with at least one Russian cargo flight directly into Tehran. Jordanian and Egyptian leadership have again voiced somewhat passive support for Israel with both claiming that they will attempt to shoot down any Iranian or Houthi munitions that breach their airspace.United Kingdom: The situation in Southport has intensified following the media engaging in propaganda efforts with regards to the attacker, as well as governmental agencies cracking down on demonstrators with a heavy hand. Demonstrations in Sunderland, Nottingham, Southport, Portsmouth, Hull, Manchester, and Middlesbrough have been organized this weekend to protest PM Starmer's decision to launch a special task force to investigate protests of knife attacks, instead of the knife attacks themselves.Contributing to the palpable outrage, the media has routinely used photographs of the attacker from when he was a small child in the press coverage of the event, with some media outlets calling him a “quiet schoolboy” who “starred in a musical”. This factor alone has worsened the situation once locals discovered that the attacker was a full-grown man who was observed to be laughing in court when he appeared before the judge immediately after the attack. Recent political speeches and the use of facial recognition and advanced intelligence collection techniques by authorities to stifle protests has caused even more conflagration, along with the overwhelmingly pro-immigrant protesters who have organized demonstrations supporting immigration over the past few days.South America: Unrest in Venezuela continues as casualties mount. Though challenging to verify, some sources claim the death toll surrounding the recent demonstrations has risen to 11. Opposition to Maduro among the populace remains high nevertheless, with demonstrations continuing throughout several cities.-HomeFront-Washington D.C. – The Pentagon has reached a plea deal with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, one of the key leaders associated with the planning of the 9/11 terror attacks. This deal allegedly removes the death penalty from being sought for Mohammad's role in the attacks. In Congress, Senator Graham has introduced S.J.Res.106, a joint resolution to preemptively declare war on Iran under the War Powers Resolution due to Iranian threats to Israel.Virginia: Two probable terrorists were released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after posting a combined $25,000 bail. Hasan Yousef Hamdan and Mohammad Khair Dabous were arrested in May for attempting to breach a gate at Marine Corps Base Quantico. Both men are Jordanian nationals who gained entry to the U.S. illegally. Though unconfirmed, at least one of them is allegedly on a terror watchlist. Nevertheless, ICE released these individuals despite both being in the U.S. illegally (one having overstayed a student visa, the other having crossed the southern border illegally).-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: The recent events taking place to highlight the vulnerabilities within the United States should probably be observed through the lens of normalcy as from a few years ago. This alone highlights how far the goal posts of societal norms have shifted. The Quantico incident was almost certainly an intelligence collection operation, or a dry-run for a future VBIED attack on the base. The two men, driving an unmarked box truck, initially claimed to be an Amazon subcontractor making a delivery on the base. However, the gate guards quickly determined that this was not true. Liberty Counsel Represents Kim Davis Liberty Counsel is taking hits for representing Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis' religious liberty case at the 6th Circuit Court Appeals. At issue is the Liberty Counsel's challenge of the 2015 Obergefell decision and a potential reversal, in favor of religious liberty. Kim and her husband, as well as Liberty Counsel have been subjected to multiple, serious death threats. Liberty Counsel President Mat Staver released a statement Monday, noting that “Anyone who stands up to the hateful agenda of the LGBTQ Mafia is demonized. .   .. the LGBTQ left will not tolerate religious freedom and wants to destroy anyone who disagrees.” Biden Administration Announces Plea Deal with 9/11 Conspirators The Biden administration Department of Justice has announced a plea deal with alleged conspirators of the 9/11 attacks, which occurred 23 years ago. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid Bin ‘Attash, and Mustafa al Hawsawi will plead guilty to conspiracy and murder charges, but will not face the death penalty for the murders of 2,977 people on September 11, 2001. Senator JD Vance commenting on the deal told an audience yesterday, “"We need a president who kills terrorists, not negotiates with them.” And Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, called the decision “unthinkable” and a “slap in the face” for families of those murdered by the terrorists. God said, “Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God He made man.” (Gen. 9:6) 60% of Americans Support Death Penalty 60% of Americans support the death penalty. There were 23 executions in the US last year down from 98 in 1999. The US Homicide rate has also increased since 2014, from 4.7 per 100,000, to 6.0 per 100,000 persons in 2023, which accounts for over 20,000 murders. Keep in mind, “The ruler is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.” Romans 13:4 20 Dead Over Venezuelan Protests Protests following the Venezuelan sham election over the weekend in which the communist dictator claimed victory - have resulted in 20 deaths, and 1,072 persons arrested by the regime, according to Effecto Cocuyo — an independent news source. The nation's prosecutor, Tarek William Saab has warned protestors, that they are facing up to 20-30 years in prison. A respected American polling organization, Edison Research, has issued its exit poll results for the Venezuelan election. Opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia of the Unitary Platform easily won by a margin of 65 to 31%. Younger (18-29 year old) voters were more likely to vote against the communist dictator, by a margin of 74% to 21%. Edison Research has been the sole provider of election data to the National Election Pool, consisting of ABC News, CBS News, CNN, and NBC News.  Also, AltaVista obtained results from about 1,000 polling stations, photographed them, analyzed them and then sent the results around the world. They also showed a landslide: 66 percent for González, 31 percent for Maduro. Debt in Africa Has Increased Substantially Africa's debt burden has increased substantially just since 2010. Reuters reports that Zambia, Ethiopia, and Ghana are now in default. And at least 20 African nations have taken on a heavy debt burden, as defined by the IMF, a condition that did not exist for these countries just 10 years ago.  Although, none of these nations are in as severe a condition as the United States - with a debt-to-GDP ratio — now at 122% up from 64% in 2008.  Japan, Sudan, Lebanon, and Greece have a higher debt-to-GDP ratio than the United States. “The debtor is servant to the lender.”  Proverbs 22:7. College Enrollment Dropping Undergraduate college enrollment has dropped another 852,000 students since 2019 - a 4.6% drop. Christain colleges are taking the hit.  A recent survey of 50 Christain colleges found 36 out of 50 Christian colleges had a net decrease in tuition income over the last 5 years, as reported by wng.org.  The college bubble has pretty much burst. . .In Minnesota, only 57% of high school graduates signed up for college on graduation, in 2022. That's down from 82% in 2011. Chik-fil-A Worker Fends off Armed Robber An armed robber broke into an Atlanta Chik Fil A last month, levelled a gun at employee Kevin Blair. . . and told him he was going to die if he didn't open the restaurant safe. By God's mercies, Blair fought off the armed robber for several harrowing minutes — in a desperate fight for his life, finally pushing him out the door of the restaurant. Blair talked about the struggle in an interview with WXIA TV — BLAIR: “I broke his glasses. I put my thumb into his eye.  He hit me several times.” WXIA TV ANNOUNCER: “Fighting off the intruder, the whole time thinking: BLAIR: “I want to see my kids.  That's really it.  Get through this.  Go see my kids.”  Police have arrested suspect Tommie Lee Williams in connection with the assault. The small concern is that he endorsed a school-voucher plan… The more serious criticism centers on his comments on anti-Israel protests since October 7, which he has denounced.” You can read the full article here: https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/josh-shapiro-vice-president-moderate-popular-governor-pennsylvania-palestine-kamala-harris.html 6:15pm- Women Don't Want Shapiro: Mary Ann Akers—Deputy Washington Bureau Chief for The Daily Beast—reports: “Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is the betting favorite to be No. 2 on the Democratic ticket, but his involvement in a sexual harassment coverup may tank his chances. While well-intended and useful in some ways, the bill is full of land mines that the House would be wise to clean up…If parents don't want their children spending more than an hour on TikTok a day or playing video games past 8 p.m., they should have the power to stop them. But politicians always want more control, and they say it's unfair to ask parents to supervise children online. Thus the Senate bill would empower the Federal Trade Commission and 50 state Attorneys General to serve in loco parentis and police the platforms. Companies would have a legal ‘duty of care' to design their platforms to prevent harm to minors. This means the FTC could sue platforms if it says their features, including algorithms, harm minors.” You can read the full editorial here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/senate-kids-online-safety-act-house-social-media-regulation-federal-trade-commission-30cfe079?mod=opinion_lead_pos1 4:40pm- Hong Kong Wins Gold in Fencing, Taunts Italy with Pineapple Pizza: John Yoon of The New York Times reports: “Losing an Olympic fencing title bout to the champion from Hong Kong was difficult enough for the Italian. Then came the pizza slander. Cheung Ka Long's triumph over Filippo Macchi of Italy in the gold medal bout in men's foil on Monday has led to a sour fallout that has spilled off the fencing strip: Pizza Hut's Hong Kong and Macao branch has offered free pineapple toppings on its pies as fans on social media praised the combination widely shunned by the losing side.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/30/world/olympics/hong-kong-italy-fencing-pineapple-pizza.html 5:05pm- On Wednesday night, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump held a campaign rally in Harrisburg, PA—his first trip to Pennsylvania since he was nearly assassinated at an event in Butler, PA on July 13th. During the rally, Trump emphasized presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris' far-left policy preferences, including: a ban on fracking, abolishing ICE, and ending private health insurance. Trump also spent time discussing Harris' failed attempt to secure the U.S. Southern border. Trump promised the crowd “We're not going to let her do to Pennsylvania what she did to California. She destroyed San Francisco."—even calling out Soros-funded District Attorneys and explicitly mentioning Philadelphia. 5:25pm- Flashback: In 2016, KCAL 9—a CBS News affiliate in Los Angeles, CA—reported that Kamala Harris was accused of treating her Senate “campaign funds like a personal checking account to fund a life of luxury.” When questioned about the accusations, Harris seemingly conceded that money was misappropriated but blamed it on her campaign manager. 5:35pm- Dr. Victoria Coates—Former Deputy National Security Advisor & the Vice President of the Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss the Biden Administration's prisoner swap agreement with Russia. While it's wonderful that Gershkovich has been released, why does Pennsylvania school teacher Marc Fogel remain wrongfully imprisoned in Russia? Dr. Coates fears that because Russia got the better end of this trade deal, it could encourage Vladimir Putin to imprison more Americans. Plus, why isn't the American media paying closer attention to authoritarian Nicolas Maduro's seizure of power in Venezuela? Coates suspects the media is protecting the Biden-Harris Administration for having eased sanctions on Venezuela in exchange for Maduro's empty promise of free and fair elections—which clearly didn't happen. Her upcoming book is: “Winning the War on Israel: Inside the Battle for the Jewish State and America.” 6:05pm- What's So Great About Josh Shapiro?: Jonathan Chait of New York Magazine writes: “Kamala Harris has the luxury of several promising options for her vice-presidential nominee, but the discussion has focused inordinately on Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro. The reason for this, I think, is that Shapiro has some weaknesses that make him distasteful to some potential Harris voters… Democrats have two main sources of concern with Shapiro, one small and one large. The issue has come to a head, with a little known women's rights organization urging Vice President Kamala Harris to think twice. In a headline blaring: ‘Gov. Shapiro's Failures Enabled Sexual Harassment,' the National Women's Defense League said in a statement that the Harris vetting team should ‘consider the handling of past complaints of sexual harassment inside the Pennsylvania Governor's office.' The group claims to be a nonpartisan organization dedicated to preventing sexual harassment.” You can read the full article here:https://www.thedailybeast.com/womens-group-to-harris-dump-shapiro-over-sex-case-cover-up 6:30pm- Infuriating 9/11 Plea Deal: Jess Bravin of The Wall Street Journal writes: “The Defense Department approved a plea bargain with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and two other Guantanamo detainees accused of orchestrating the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center, killed nearly 3,000 people and launched America's 20-year military campaign in Afghanistan. In a Wednesday letter to victims of the attacks, military prosecutors said the three defendants had agreed to plead guilty in exchange for life sentences. Prosecutors had been seeking the death penalty.” You can read the full article here: https://www.wsj.com/politics/national-security/khalid-sheikh-mohammed-and-two-other-9-11-defendants-agree-to-plea-deal-9b2d1f74?mod=hp_lead_pos8

It's four martinis for the price of three today as Jim and Greg unpack the latest details in the killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, the prisoner swap with Russia that freed two Americans, the government striking a plea bargain with 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and Donald Trump focusing on Kamala's race instead of her train wreck of a record.First, they enjoy learning how Haniyeh was killed by a bomb planted months earlier and detonated remotely. It seems to point more clearly to an Israeli operation and a massive, embarrassing failure for the Iranian government and especially its terrorist arm, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.Next, they're thrilled to hear Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and fellow American Paul Whelan are being released by Russia. What reports don't tell us yet is who or what the U.S. is giving Russia in return. And given the Obama-Biden track record on lopsided prisoner swaps, that's an important question. Then, they groan as the U.S. government strikes a plea deal with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and two other 9/11 conspirators. The agreement removes the possibility of capital punishment for any of them. 9/11 survivors and family members are not happy. And while Jim and Greg understand there's a slight possibility of these terrorists revealing more than they already have, it's hard to imagine anyone more deserving of death then they are. Finally, Jim unloads on Donald Trump for wondering when Kamala Harris decided she was black because he says she spent much of her life identifying with her Indian heritage. Not only does that moment give Harris a chance to go on offense, but it shows Trump getting distracted from going after the endless political liabilities Harris brings into this campaign.

But did his apparent guilt warrant the denial of his rights and the dismissal of elements of the US Constitution? Jason thought not and put his career on the line as he sought to do his duty.  Aside from representing KSM, Jason also helped gain the release of a seemingly guilty but entirely innocent captive at Guantanamo Bay.
