Send us a textOn this episode, we sit down with Tyler Weisbeck, better known as beatboxer and content creator, TylaDubya. Tyla takes us back to early musical memories with Phil Collins' “In the Air Tonight,” and then we learn how “My Humps” by the Black Eyed Peas changed his life and got him into beatboxing (which then led him to meet his future wife!). We also hear the story of how he proposed to his now wife during a music video shoot for a song they wrote together, “Waves.” Other powerful musical moments are captured by “Weekends!!!” by Skrillex, “This War Is Ours (The Guillotine II)” by Escape The Fate, and “If I'm James Dean, You're Audrey Hepburn” by Sleeping With Sirens. It's a journey of music's powerful ability to guide one's life and bring about dramatic changes that forever alter its path.YouTube of Waves (feat. In this episode Sarah, Mark, and James continue their coverage Bitch by Lucy Cooke. We discussed systems where female aggression was common and the subjugation of other females and males was done by "alpha" females. We were surprised to learn how murderous and violent naked mole rats and sweet little meercats could be. Photo from Akron ZooNaked mole rats are eusocial mammals where a dominant female is the sole reproducer in the colony and others help rear the young. Here is a photo of a queen rat with her newborn pubs and other females assisting in their care. Do not be fooled by the serene nature of this image, those helper females are violently coerced into their roles.Photo from https://lsc.org/news-and-social/news/our-naked-mole-rats-had-babiesagainMeercats are also a fossorial social mammal that is ruled ruthlessly by the dominant female. The play of meercats often mimics fighting, which is always a constant possibility in their tight knit clan. The second half of the discussion focused on female dominant systems that rely more on alliances and social bonding to create group coherence. Ring tailed lemurs and bonobo chimpanzees were the classic system we discussed. At the end we tried to make sense of how ecology, physiology, and culture might be influencing a social system being matriarchal or patriarchal. Sarah noted that the males in these female dominant social systems reminded her of Ken in the movie Barbie. Opening and closing music is "May" by Jared C. Balogh.Interlude music My Humps by the Black Eyed Peas

In this week's Quick Bits, I cover the new documents in the Idaho College Murders, the writ, and the Tom Girardi Bar Scandal. First, I cover the lawsuit against the My Poops commercial and its alleged copyright infringement of the Black Eyed Peas song, My Humps. Next, the Tom Girardi bar scandal, where the State Bar released two redacted reports detailing Girardi's use of money and power to influence the bar's investigations into his conduct. This included hiring family members of those who worked at the bar and giving a Girardi Keese AMEX to a State Bar employee. Finally, there are a lot of updates in the Idaho case involving Kohlbergers and the non-discrimination order. Recently unsealed search warrants from Pennsylvania showed that items were taken from the White Elantra and Kohlbergers' parents' residence, including electronics, clothing, and a shop vac. A memo from a January 13, 2023 zoom meeting between the prosecutor, defense attorney, a redacted party, and the attorney for the Goncalves family revealed snappy exchanges between the Goncalves family attorney and the court regarding the non-discrimination order. Additionally, a writ was filed on February 6, 2023, with the Idaho Supreme Court seeking to have the non-dissemination order thrown out, arguing that it is not the least restrictive means to protect Kohlbergers' right to a fair trial. Kohlbergers and the prosecution are both opposing the writ, with Kohlbergers arguing that it's necessary to protect his rights to a fair trial.Connect With Me.Get the Members Only ‘I Have Thoughts Podcast https://www.LawNerdsUnite.comJoin the Text Crew https://www.TextEmily.ComLooking for my YouTube videos? https//www.WatchEmily.comWant to connect with Emily More? https://www.Instagram.com/theemilydbaker I share things on Twitter too! https://www.twitter.com/theemilydbaker

We had the pleasure of interviewing Printz Board of Parker Lane over Zoom video!Parker Lane has released their new full-length album, Kaleidoscope, out today via Beets & Produce. The 13-track LP, co-produced by front man Printz Board along with Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Vance Joy, Zach Bryan), was written during the pandemic when Printz opened his soul and examined the moments that shaped him into the person he is today. The result is a collection of folk pop anthems highlighting this journey of self-realization that everyone can relate to.Kaleidoscope incorporates all of Printz' talents from spotlighting his beguiling vocals to sharing his multi-instrumental abilities, indulging listeners into the world of Parker Lane for a sonic experience that will refresh and invigorate their soul. The album opens with the jaunty, foot-tapping “Have We Met Before,” an infectious tune about the instant connection you feel with others. The inspiring acoustic-driven “Brave” is an anthem for the underdogs, those chasing the confidence within while the piano-laden offering “How You Feel” acts as a confessional exploring hope, forgiveness, and second chances. Newest single “Magic” erupts into a plethora of hand claps, drum kicks, and layered harmonies as it speaks to individuals with loved ones out of reach, reassuring them they will be together soon. Elsewhere on the album is "Fire" which was inspired by the people who unexpectedly come into our lives and make us better versions of ourselves and the stunning English/Spanish duet "Excusas" featuring Debi Nova which is a response to those who question the decision to stay in a relationship full of ups and downs. Full track listing below. With this album, it's clear that Parker Lane's twist on classic Americana uplifted by 21st century soul and pop boundlessness continues to set them apart from the rest. This is even more evident in Kaleidoscope's recording process which featured all live instrumentation, from drums and piano to strings and guitar, in an effort to establish an authentic atmosphere. Mixed by Ryan Hadlock, recorded between Los Angeles at Gold Diggers and Seattle at Bear Creek Studios, and mastered by Dave Kutch (Alicia Keys, FINNEAS, Lizzy McAlpine), Kaleidoscope is the first full-length from Parker Lane since the release of their 2018 acoustic album P.L.A.Y. and coinciding EP, REPLAY, which featured the stunning duet “3 A.M.” with Lucy Graves and breezy love song “Speechless.” ABOUT PRINTZ BOARDWhile Parker Lane speaks to his soul directly, for nearly two decades Printz Board has quietly impacted pop music and culture from behind the scenes, creating a string of recognizable and renowned hits. The Ohio-born and Los Angeles-based two-time GRAMMY® Award winner and multiple BMI Award-winner is most notably known as a co-writer and producer for Black Eyed Peas (“Where Is The Love?,” “Don't Phunk With My Heart,” “My Humps,” “Meet Me Halfway”) in addition to his work with artists including Selena Gomez, Justin Timberlake, John Legend, Macy Gray, Mark Ronson, and most recently BTS on their #1 song “My Time.” Printz Board has also collaborated with the Los Angeles Lakers, penning a new theme song for their 2021-22 season in collaboration with Pepsi, as well as other efforts with the Obama family, Andra Day, and Hyundai, among others. We want to hear from you! Gabriel Rossman is a sociologist at UCLA. The author of Climbing the Charts: What Radio Airplay Tells Us about the Diffusion of Innovation, Rossman takes a deeply analytic toolkit to questions such as why 2005's “My Humps” became a viral hit. The last 1/3rd of the podcast is devoted to discussing a recent paper that he is an author on, Network hubs cease to be influential in the presence of low levels of advertising. But first, we discuss other topics. Recently Rossman has been seeing a change in the intellectual and political climate in modern sociology, with a shift from the positive to the normative. We explore the disjunction between public perception of the field (very left-wing), and the reality of it (much more empirical and rigorous), and how the two are slowly converging. After a short digression on Napoleon Chagnon, I also asked him about how “knotty” our social networks are. How is it that some people seem to know many other people? Eventually, we do discussion advertising, influencers, and a reconsideration of Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point twenty years on.

The guys tee off about their excitement with the MLB season getting underway tomorrow with Yankees at Nationals and Giants at Dodgers. They look at all the aspects of why games will mean more and other potential differences, including is this a better model? Also Chris has a serious conversation about sanitizing balls. Dan, Xav, Bevo & Chibbs become codebreakers trying to dissect the intricate web spun by The Black Eyed Peas with their erotic hit song, My Humps!Check out our merch & shit list at www.1001songsthatmakeyouwanttodie.comBio:"My Humps" is a song performed by American recording group The Black Eyed Peas. The song was written and produced by group member will.i.am for their fourth studio album Monkey Business (2005). It was released as the band's third single from the album on September 20, 2005, due in part to the strength of downloads preceding the release. Musically, "My Humps" is a hip hop and dance song that is structured as a duet between will.i.am and Fergie. The song sparked controversy because of its title and lyrics, which center on a woman who uses her breasts and buttocks to accomplish her goals.Click for The LyricsClick for The VideoFollow us on Spotify, iTunes or wherever you get your podcasts. You can also follow us on Instagram & Twitter @1001songsthatmakeyouwanttodie or on FacebookYou can also email us with any shit song suggestions at 1001songsthatmakeyouwanttodie@gmail.comSupport the show (https://paypal.me/pools/c/8p4yD1sVwP)

Back on December 3rd, 2013, I've had requests from fans wanting to hear a mix from Thanksgiving Eve, but in it's mastered form. I was able to replicate that mix at home, with some minor adjustments. The reason I'm naming this "Crock Pot Throwback" is because the tempo is much slower than all of my other mixes (including Ep. 7-7A) and it contains a lot of songs from up to 20 years ago. I still maintain current hits in here, such as Roar, Blurred Lines, and Royals, and all songs are in their original or extended forms. I started the this episode at 85 BPM and I gradually increase up to 125 BPM. Also, this podcast is slightly longer than expected at 90 minutes. "We Can't Stop" by Miley Cyrus "Royals" by Lorde "Umbrella" by Rihanna f./ JAY-Z "Roar" by Katy Perry "No Scrubs" by TLC "Thrift Shop" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis f./ Wanz "Mambo No. 5" by Lou Bega "Single Ladies" by Beyoncé "The Sign" by Ace of Base "Fly (Chef's Edit)" by Sugar Ray "As Long As You Love Me" by Backstreet Boys "Dirrty" by Christina Aguilera f./ Redman "This Is How We Do It (Chef's Edit)" by Montell Jordan "(You Drive Me) Crazy" by Britney Spears "Hollaback Girl (Chef's Edit)" by Gwen Stefani "1, 2 Step" by Ciara f./ Missy Elliot "Feedback" by Janet Jackson "Sexyback" by Justin Timberlake "The Way I Are" by Timbaland f./ Keri Hilson, D.O.E. & Sebastian "When I Grow Up" by The Pussycat Dolls "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke f./ T.I. and Pharrell Williams "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga f./ Colby O'Donis "Pop" by 'N Sync "My Humps" by The Black Eyed Peas "Lose Control" by Missy Elliott f./ Ciara and Fatman Scoop
