In the past few weeks, there have been several notable developments in lawsuits seeking to disqualify Donald Trump from the 2024 election under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. The Minnesota Supreme Court dismissed a case against Trump but invited the petitioners to refile once Trump won the GOP nomination. A court in Michigan rejected a challenge to Trump's eligibility on the grounds that Congress, not the courts, should ultimately decide. And, most recently, a Colorado trial court held that, although Trump did engage in insurrection before and during Jan. 6, Section 3 does not apply to presidents. As these and other cases make their way through the courts, and with the potential that the Supreme Court will at some point weight in, we're bringing you another portion of a conference held last month at the University of Minnesota Law School (for a previous excerpt, see the November 1 edition of the Lawfare Podcast). This panel, focusing on the interplay between the Section 3 challenges and election law, was moderated by University of Minnesota Law School Professor Nick Bednar, and featured Professor Ned Foley of the Ohio State College of Law, Professor Derek Muller of Notre Dame Law School, and Professor Andrea Katz of Washington University School of Law.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/lawfare. August is the month of Replenishment. Be sure to replenish mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Embark on the retired "Celebrity Hair Gawd" journey on Divine Revelations in life. It all began by Looking Good and becoming "Fit", which led to an undeniable internal truth we should all explore. Be sure to listen until the end of the show to reveal A Rare Gem moment for Minister Johnathan Nixon, Pastor of the Interdenominational Congregation, Holy Growth outreach ministries. Minister Johnathan Nixon, Pastor of the Interdenominational Congregation, Holy Growth outreach ministries. He is a retired master barber who began cutting hair at age 10. Holy Growth outreach ministries bring awareness to the mental, physical, spiritual, emotional and financial effects of poisonous "legal" chemical addiction as it relates to the thousands of proven toxic chemicals found in products and foods targeted to low-income neighborhoods. After years of mastering the technique, he attended the top barber school in Ohio, Ohio State College of barber styling. As a licensed professional, he provided all chemical services, including coloring and styling. For the last 10 years, he helped 1000s of women with recovering their hair but more so their spiritual selves. Most of his client's hair problems, when holistically evaluated, were found to be deeper than hair; in most cases, the causes were depression, anxiety, stress, and chronic worrying, which has been proven to cause all types of physical diseases. So, he began studying herbalism and continued study in divine truth, metaphysics, quantum physics, epigenetics, chemistry, biology and theology. I acquired my ministerial license in interdenominational studies. He addresses the spiritual and psychological traumas that are caused by the secret addiction to "legal chemicals."You can learn more at:https://www.facebook.com/johnnyhairgawdnixonTo be a guest on the show, complete this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScp4gagJvFTokikRYNG3bdxx5GwmikITKiRHi68fjKg0ilNgg/viewform?usp=pp_url.Hit me up at:IG Alea's Helping HandPresident@aleashelpinghand.visionTo learn more, visit:http://www.aleashelpinghand.vision/Listen to more episodes on Mission Matters:https://missionmatters.com/author/lea-smith

Nobody wants to be hospitalized or plans for it to happen. Especially with the pandemic, we have seen incredibly high numbers of hospitalizations. In many cases, you get discharged and leave the hospital. But what happens afterward? Does life just go on as usual? Well, it depends! Joining us today to tackle some of these difficult questions is Dr. Vignesh Doraiswamy, an Internal Medicine and Pediatric hospitalist at Ohio State University and Nationwide Children's Hospital. He talks about the importance of post-acute care/rehab and inpatient therapy evaluations. He dives into how patients want to go home as soon as they're ready for discharge, but this can inevitably prolong their recovery. He also discusses the lived experiences of physicians in hospitals who handle care. Finally he touches on the inequities in receiving the vaccine, the booster shot, and projections for the future. *Please note that this episode was recorded before the rise in cases of Omicron, so while certain numbers may be different at the moment, the general concepts are largely the same. Dr. Doraiswamy is an assistant professor at The Ohio State College of Medicine where he works with medical students as a Portfolio Coach and Applied Health Systems Science Coach. At The OSU James Cancer Center, he is the Quality and Patient Safety Lead for the James Hospitalist service lines and he is an Associate Medical director at OSU's University Hospital. He completed a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency and was the Med-Peds chief resident at Penn State Health. Dr. Doraiswamy is actively involved in medical student and resident education with interests in health equity and advocacy, health systems science, curriculum design and clinical reasoning. Vascular Surgery Origins is a podcast series that explores the fun and engaging stories that shaped vascular surgery. In today's episode we will explore the search for the ‘spark of life' to reanimate man, and how it inspired innovative arterial anastomosis techniques and frankensteinian operations. Specifically, I'll talk about our understanding of circulation from Greeks and Galen to our modern knowledge brought to us by William Harvey, as well as other electrifying attempts at reanimation. Hear how Robert Abbe proved vascular circulation was critical for limb-replantation and how his friendship with a novelist inspired the future father of vascular surgery Alexis Carrel. Finally, I will explore how Drs. Carrel and Guthrie mastered arterial- anastomosis and opened the floodgates to major arterial repair, limb-replantation and organ transplantation, even if some of their experiments seem a little frankensteinian. The annual Steps for Sarcoma event has raised more than $1.2 million and funded several research programs that have improved the outcomes for sarcoma patients at the James, and beyond. “It's so fantastic for us, as caregivers, to see them walking and doing the things they want to do because of the care we've given them,” said Joel Mayerson, MD, director of the James sarcoma program. In this episode, Mayerson describes the emotional impact of Steps for Sarcoma, and some of the research it has funded. He told the story of one of his patients, a young woman, who eventually lost a leg. “She was able to recover and ski and walk, and she sang the National Anthem for us [at a Steps for Sarcoma],” Mayerson said. “Everyone had a tear in their eye, and then she walked around most of the course with crutches.” The 12th Annual Steps for Sarcoma will be held September 26. Due to the pandemic, it will be a virtual event. One of the goals of Steps for Sarcoma is to fund young, rising-star James researchers working on sarcoma-related studies. Steps for Sarcoma has funded a pilot program, in conjunction with the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine, in which an ultrasound machine is used, in real time, during a sarcoma operation to make sure that surgeons remove “clear margins” around tumors. “This allows us to take less tissue and that leaves patients more functional,” Mayerson said. “This is how we support our young researchers. It can be hard to gain that first small amount of money to take your idea to the next step and that's what Steps for Sarcoma has allowed them to do.”

Every James patient is assigned a social worker, who assesses the needs of that patient and their family and connects them with the services they need. Also, in this episode, Klakos talks about her own experience at the James as a family member of a patient after her mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer is 2018. The journey gave her an even greater appreciation of the work of James physicians, nurses and social workers. “It highlighted the culture of kindness and care at the James, we really felt that … and that allowed me to lean more into my role as a daughter,” Klakos said.
