In a recent episode of the Circuit of Success podcast, host Brett Gilliland sits down with motivational speaker Jesse LeBeau to delve into his remarkable underdog story and the transformative power of adversity. LeBeau shares how his parents' unwavering encouragement and support played a pivotal role in helping him overcome challenges and pursue his passions. Throughout the conversation, LeBeau imparts valuable insights on resilience, confidence-building, and effective parenting strategies. Join us as we explore the inspiring journey of Jesse LeBeau and uncover his advice for navigating life's obstacles. Overcoming Odds and Inspiring Others From a young age, Jesse LeBeau faced numerous obstacles, but his determination and resilience propelled him forward. Growing up in Alaska, he defied the odds and inspired others with his unwavering spirit. LeBeau's story serves as a testament to the power of perseverance and the impact one individual can have on those around them. Street Ball with Iverson and Global Travels LeBeau's journey took an exciting turn when he had the opportunity to play street ball with basketball legend Allen Iverson. This experience not only fueled his passion for the sport but also opened doors to international tours and appearances in TV and film. LeBeau's ability to turn setbacks into opportunities showcases his unwavering belief in the bounce-back theory. Building Confidence and Handling Failure LeBeau emphasizes the importance of building confidence and bouncing back quickly from defeat. He believes that instilling resilience in children is crucial for their personal growth and success. By teaching kids how to handle failure and view it as a stepping stone rather than a roadblock, parents can empower them to face challenges head-on and develop a growth mindset. The Role of Parental Influence LeBeau raises concerns about the lack of grit and role modeling among parents, which he believes contributes to teenagers wasting time on their phones. He emphasizes the significance of parental guidance, communication, and setting boundaries to shape children's behaviors and attitudes. By being intentional role models and providing honest feedback, parents can instill discipline and productive habits in their children. Drawing from his own experiences, LeBeau offers valuable parenting advice. He emphasizes the need for parents to give themselves grace and set limits. By finding a balance between nurturing and providing structure, parents can create an environment that fosters resilience, confidence, and personal growth in their children. Jesse LeBeau's underdog story and motivational journey serve as an inspiration to all. Through his experiences, he highlights the power of adversity in shaping one's character and the importance of parental influence in nurturing resilience and confidence in children. By setting restrictions on phone usage, teaching kids to handle failure, and instilling discipline, parents can guide their children towards success in today's digital age. Let us embrace LeBeau's wisdom and create an environment that empowers our children to overcome obstacles and thrive. Aaron Hale is a former Navy chef and Army EOD team leader turned motivational speaker and entrepreneur, overcoming blindness and deafness to found the chocolate company Extra Ordinary Delights. In this episode, host Larry interviews guest Aaron Hale who shares his powerful story of resilience and overcoming the odds. Aaron Hale reflects on his journey from being an all-American slacker to facing challenges in college and gaining the "Freshman 50." Determined to find his purpose, he turned to cooking, a passion he had since childhood. From being a Navy cook to becoming an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician. Aaron's journey is one of determination, adaptability, and a desire to serve their country in the best way possible. Aaron Hale's journey begins with a comfortable job in the military. He enjoys the perks and safety that come with his position, and for a while, it feels like a cushy gig. However, he soon realizes that he craves something more. He wants to serve a greater purpose and be on the front lines of danger. Another factor that contributes to Aaron Hale's decision to transition from comfort to danger is the nature of his job as a Navy cook. The Navy views cooks as the military equivalent of hotel restaurant management. Their duties often involve working in dining facilities on bases or in barracks, which can be mundane and unchallenging. Aaron's placement as a night clerk at the front desk of the bachelor quarters during his shore duty further reinforces his desire for something more stimulating. Aaron's motivation to serve others and make a positive impact also drives his transition from comfort to danger. He believes that by doing his best for others, he can lead a more fulfilling life. This mindset aligns with his desire to contribute and do something greater than himself. Additionally, Aaron Hale admits that it's also fun to blow things up, highlighting his adventurous spirit and willingness to embrace the excitement and challenges that come with being an EOD technician. www.thedadedge.com/455 www.thedadedge.com/alliance www.EODfudge.com

One of the features of modern life that sets us apart from our ancestors is our focus on the shape, form and function of our bodies, or “looking good,” so to speak. Though many of us give little thought to the subject, some are obsessed with how we present ourselves physically, and most of us are somewhere in between. It would be fair to say, though, that we're probably much more “body-centric” than our grandparents or earlier generations were. So is such behavior evolutionary or does it slow us down and keep us at the superficial level of life?In this episode, a listener poses a question to Thom about the compatibility of body-based goals with our evolution, and whether they hold us back or not. As is often the case, Thom makes the distinction between cause and effect, and gives us clear instructions on where to focus our efforts. As one of seventeen children growing up in Mississippi, Quintavius “Q” Burdette learned at an early age that nothing was going to be handed to him. He achieved his goals of attending college and playing football for a division one team through sheer will power and a work ethic that wouldn't quit. When other kids from his community went to parties, Q was on the field honing his skills. In college, he stood out to coaches and professors because he prioritized his education over football. During this time, he shifted his perspective. Everything he thought he wanted in a football career actually wasn't the path for him. So his plan B because plan A. After graduating with an accounting degree, the first in his family to ever do so, he set his eyes on his future goals. His adaptive approach to anything life throws his way is one reason why he sold a record-breaking number of houses in his first year as an agent. He embodies the message that we can't always control what happens around us, but we can control our mindset. Steve Cody has started 18 businesses and clearly is a lifelong learner. He doesn't make excuses and has built opportunities over the years with the attitude “where there is a will there's a way.” This no excuse attitude was a big part of the episode, as he shares examples of how he learned to be independent and solve problems.Growing up in a household with a single mom, moving schools a lot and having to get started paying bills young he's leveraged all of that into his character. Much of the episode is evidence about how much of an impact his mother had on him to becoming the businessman that he is. Learning how to aim for your big goals, try things you've never done and win, or learn, are great examples of such life lessons. We also get into the discussion around how to best help other youth who may be having to overcome odds and some ideas as a society on how we can make some changes. Steve is a great person to lead this charge because he understands first hand what some youth are going through. He brings up a great point that we really need to meet them where they are, because those who struggle just don't know any different.Steve started his first business out of necessity to start pulling his weight with household bills. And before long he had scaled one business after the other. Building from one opportunity to the next, he went from a window cleaning business at fifteen, to rental businesses and eventually building tech companies. Steve takes us on quite the journey to share all of his entrepreneurial experience and how it's similar to being a lifelong artist.Chatting about education and how Steve found that for him the best education was business was a really interesting part of the conversation. We discuss how to get clarity over your ideas, and why entrepreneurship may be the best lifestyle for many of us. The fact that Steve simply can not work in an environment with a boss was a very interesting thing to learn about as well. For many of us we have the same ideas, but don't take that leap.We hear about his latest venture, “Bunking” which is a marketplace for shared living and travel of like-minded people. And we even learn about the fact that Steve and their family lost a son to addiction, something that he struggled with, but used as fuel to keep pushing as well. It's tough to summarize an episode, because listening is always the best way to take it all in. There were many great moments, hope you enjoy!Memorable Quotes“There's no grand plan, I just kind of find problems in life and then work to solve them.”“If I look at myself and the way I was brought up, you don't even know good from bad.”“I'm not an artist, but I can imagine they love painting pictures and they get right into it. They have a vision and they want to see it through. I think an entrepreneur is a lot like that. We get this vision, we get excited and we want to see it through.”“It's a gift not wanting a boss.”6 Things To Keep In Mind On Your Entrepreneurial Journey There are different opinions, but loving what you do is a huge part of it. Loving what you do will allow you to be persistent and creative throughout the journey.Be an artist. Create your art by diving deep into problems you can solve.Be realistic and simple with the first business. What is a problem people have, will they pay you to solve it? Solve it, and keep solving it. Enjoy the excitement and energy of appreciating that collecting money is a matter of being rewarded fairly for helping people with their problems.Realize that a lot of other people's success took way longer than you think, so don't compare yourself to their path.Remember that the more you want, the tougher it will get, so be prepared to overcome challenges.Guest BioSteve was 15 years old when he launched his first company. He is currently the CEO and founder of Bunking. The company provides a marketplace and community to help people create shared living and travel experiences. He has a wealth of knowledge and truly understands the value of creating world class software, building stellar teams, and connecting communities around the world by providing everyone with equal access to online marketplaces. He is a tremendous speaker and retreat leader in the world of entrepreneurship as well, especially for youth. Having accumulated over 30 years of experience in building companies that have employed thousands and generated over $750 million in lifetime sales, Steve has had success in multiple industries including software, marketplaces, services, and rentals. But, he has also learned from failure and tragedy as much as triumph and is a great example of someone who lives that Just Keep Learning life.Best Modern Mobile Recording Site: SquadcastFOLLOW STEVELinkedIn - Steve CodyFOLLOW JUSTIN (JustTries)Website - JustTriesHOMEInstagram - @JustTriesYouTube - Just TriesTwitter - @JustTries_Tiktok - @justtriesPinterest - JustTriesFacebook - Just TriesCONNECT WITH JUST KEEP LEARNINGWebsite - JKLHOMEInstagram - @JustKeepLearning.CaTiktok - @justkeeplearning.caFacebook - Just Keep LearningFree Group - JKL Goal Setting CommunityWe appreciate you being here! In today's episode, I shared the story of my apple tree. Earlier today, Dan told me he mowed my apple tree by mistake. He told me while we were outside doing some cleaning up from his yard work. He nervously said, "don't be mad at me..." Before he could finish the sentence, I looked across the yard and noticed that the little apple tree I had planted was gone. A rush of sadness hit me so hard and fast. I could not believe the wave of emotions. The little apple tree I planted in the spring had overcome the odds. Being a city with a history of killing plants in the past was the first obstacle. The second obstacle was not being planted right away and beginning to dry out. Before its untimely demise, my little tree was thriving and showed such great promise. For days, I watered the little stick in the hope that it would come back... and come back it did. During our intro, Dan and I discuss the parallels between the tree and our life. I used this incident as a teaching moment on emotions, tiny habits, consistency, and resiliency. Like my little "Appy" (the name I had given my tree), Oleg Lougheed has overcome many odds and challenges in his life.He relinquished his parents' rights at nine years old and entered the Russian orphanage. At 12 years old, he decided to be adopted into a new family, in a new country, halfway across the world, to start a new life. At 24 years old, he began his journey of helping others live the life they have always dreamed of, despite their hardships and misfortunes, by allowing them to recognize the uniqueness and worth within their own story.Uncertainty guided him during a time of tragedy and pain. Rejection affirmed his thoughts and feelings about the change that needed to take place. Fear gave Oleg the confidence to create the much-needed adoptee/foster care space. Oleg Lougheed's story will inspire you to overcome the odds because of the incredible way he has in his own life. I am so grateful he shared his story with me and that I get to share it with you now. Growing up in a Russian orphanage, Oleg was mistreated, neglected, and abused. After adoption to the US at age twelve, he has risen up to start the nonprofit Overcoming Odds that focuses on helping children and families bridge the gap and gain insight, education, and resources for successful international adoptions. It's much more than that, though; he has created a forum for transformational conversations that allow people to be seen, be heard, and to dive down deep into the issues of problems so that solutions can be discovered and implemented. Oleg's story is jaw dropping, heart breaking, gut wrenching, but at the same time heart warming, perspective shifting, and mind expanding. In this episode of the Success Fundamentals podcast, Oleg Lougheed joins Brian and Kris in an honest and unfiltered conversation about race, and whether or not it affects your opportunities for success. Oleg, who hosts the Overcoming Odds podcast shares his perspective on the topic as someone who has lived in the United States and now working in Ghana, South Africa. Together, the trio reflect on the topics of racism, equality, opportunity, and different strategies on fighting racial discrimination.HIGHLIGHTSRacism can look different in other parts of the worldThe media plays a big role in instituting stereotypes Racism today often comes in hushed tones behind closed doorsVery few people want to be made accountable for their ignoranceWill the playing field ever be equal for people of color? How and when do we learn racist concepts?Collaboration is better than throwing spearsQUOTESKris: "If you see an image enough, you subconsciously start to believe it. It becomes your truth. And sometimes, you're acting in ways that you don't even think is offensive but because you've seen it so much, like if somebody walks down the street and clutches a purse because I'm walking down the street. They may not realize they're doing that, but that's the image. Who owns the images? It's these media companies owned by white men."Oleg: "In my opinion, very few people are actually willing to take responsibility for the fact that, hey, I might have been ignorant once upon a time. I might have been racist. I might have said certain things to people that offended them. People don't want to be wrong." Brian: "Race is pointless. It's like saying, you know, judging somebody by looking at how big their index finger is. It's like saying, I don't know if you'd be a good accountant. I mean, after all, look at his index finger, it's like, what does that have to literally do with anything?"Kris: "If we're trying to get to a point where everybody is equal, whatever that thought is, Collaboration would be better as opposed to throwing spears, is what I'm saying. You can get a lot more done addressing the issue, talking through the issue and moving forward, as opposed to being belligerent about it."Learn more about Oleg and his work in the links below: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/oleg-lougheed-6aa2a1b5/Podcast: https://www.overcomingodds.today/podcast-1Website: https://www.overcomingodds.today/Follow Success Fundamentals on the following links below: Website: https://www.successfundamentals.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4XCvuwxnFi5_7C6Ncm12xQLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/success-fundamentals™Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/successfundamentalspodcastInstagram: https://instagram.com/successfundamentalspodcast

JD Notae can flat-out score. The reigning SEC Sixth Man of the Year has moved into a starting role for Eric Musselman's Razorback basketball team, and is a threat to lead the league in scoring. Notae looks like he's been playing basketball his whole life, and, considering he only started playing in eighth grade, it's amazing how much he's developed in such a short amount of time. Notae overcame a difficult upbringing, which included moving from place to place and watching his mom serve four years in prison. Sports were an escape, and eventually, he found basketball. And while he started playing too late to get major attention, he's found the spotlight at Arkansas. With his mom—having turned her life around—by his side as his biggest fan, Notae is ready to prove he can top last year's performance and lead the Razorbacks.
