On this episode we discuss the Dario Argento directed "Jenifer" based on a comic that appears in issue #63 of the famed Creepy Magazine, by Bruce Jones and Bernie Wrightson, teleplay by Steven Weber, who additionally stars. JENIFER :originally broadcast November 18, 2005" While parked in a remote spot, eating lunch with his partner, Detective Frank Spivey saves a disfigured woman named Jenifer from being killed by a deranged homeless man. He feels sorry for Jenifer, and takes her from an insane asylum and brings her home. Frank becomes obsessed with Jenifer, feeling lust and and attraction to her. When he realizes there's more to her, he moves with her to an isolated old cabin in the woods, with tragic consequences. "EO" had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where it stunned audiences with its stripped-down story of following a donkey through modern-day Poland, winning the Jury Prize. With its awe-inspiring cinematography, thoughtful editing, and immersive soundscape, you'd think this was a young man's movie, but the film is, in fact, made by 84-year-old world-renowned Polish filmmaker Jerzy Skolimowski. Jerzy was kind enough to spend a few minutes chatting with me about his latest film, where the idea for the story came from, his dissatisfaction with traditional narrative, the film's themes and importance for environmentalism, and more.
