We LOVED talking with Dr. Lisa on our episode Hypnotized by the Halcyon back in August and when we were discussing episode topics, we knew we had to reach out to her for this episode! One of the many best things about the Galactic Starcruiser - even now, 5 months after the Lady H. went into dry dock - is the amazing community of fans. We wanted to explore why we wacky humans gather and grow in these communities and what exactly about the Starcruiser inspires such a passionate following. For us, there was something spiritually fulfilling about spending time in the Climate Simulator - taking in the ambient noise and perhaps stacking a stone or two. We also felt this special something - oneness? connection with the universe? - when talking with the Saja or even just stepping into the Atrium. This is what we wanted to talk about with Cece Beyer, a fellow traveler on the May 4th voyage, and a friend in the Force to be sure. Our episode from two weeks ago regarding a Galactic Starcruiser Cinematic Universe inspired us to think about who we would cast in a motion picture version of our voyage aboard the Halcyon's 275th Anniversary Cruise. Now, of course, our first choices would be the actors we've already seen in these roles so to make things interesting, we decided we could only cast current screen actresses and actors for this little game. What a treat this episode was to make! We were joined by Jeremiah Good of LaughingPlace.com, actor Robbie Pigott, and former Walt Disney Imagineer C. McNair Wilson to discuss one of Disney's first real immersive entertainment experiences - Adventurers Club! For those who aren't aware, Disney launched several nightclubs in Pleasure Island, part of what is now Disney Springs. One of these was Adventurers Club, a wild place where visitors were brought back to the 1930's and regaled by an evening of songs, stories and improvisational theater. The club was open from 1989 to 2008 and is still beloved to this day.McNair Wilson was involved in the creation of Adventurers Club. Robbie played a number of roles in the show. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this insightful episode of "Women Lead," I had the privilege of speaking with Regional Director Hispanic Latam at Showheroes Group, Raquel Baranda. Raquel has had an impressive career journey that spans various roles and continents. Starting as the Vice President of Platforms and Formats at IAB Mexico, Raquel's career led her to smartclip Spain, then smartclip LATAM, where she climbed the ranks to the prestigious title of "Directora General" (General Director) before moving into her current role at ShowHeroes. Some key takeaways from this episode:Stay Present: Raquel advises focusing on immediate tasks and taking them one step at a time. By living in the present and not getting overwhelmed by future concerns, you can handle daily challenges effectively.Connectivity Across Borders: Managing a team across different countries requires strong connectivity. After the pandemic, her team relies on video conferencing, WhatsApp, and internal chats to maintain close relationships and ensure effective communication.Cultural Awareness: Recognize and respect the diverse cultures in Latin America. Understanding that each country has unique traditions and ways of doing business is crucial for success.Trust Your Team: Avoid micromanagement when managing a diverse team. Trust your team members as experts in their fields, allowing them to communicate and share their insights without needing to know every detail. These key takeaways emphasize the importance of staying in the moment, fostering strong communication across borders, understanding cultural nuances, and trusting your team for success in a global and diverse work environment.Raquel's recs:Encuentra tu persona vitamina by Marian Rojas Estapé Connect with Raquel on LinkedInProduced and Hosted by Nadia KoskiEngineered by Phil McDowellProject Lead Dennis KirschnerYou can contact the show at womenleadpodcast@the-digital-distillery.comor go to the website.Find us on LinkedIn, Facebook & Instagram

We frequently jest that we approached Disney's Galactic Starcruiser as a once-in-a-lifetime experience - - - until we went. We've made room in our lives - and sold so many things - in order to go more than once. However, our guest, David Schewitz, puts even us to shame. One awesome aspect of going on Disney's Galactic Starcruiser is the cool swag that many voyagers bring to trade with each other. The fantastic May the Fourth voyage is in the rear view mirror now. As we said last week, we had many stories to tell from some of the experiences we had or that we witnessed or that we heard about. When we sat down to start planning this episode last week, we realized that the only thing better than telling these stories would be to have our fellow voyagers who had these moments tell them. Welcome to Season Three, fellow travelers!! Last week, we were lucky enough to join the May the Fourth 2023 Galactic Starcruiser voyage. We had an amazing time and were pumped to come tell you all about it when we realized that it would be way more fun to hear about it from a group of fellow voyagers. However, due to scheduling challenges caused by the unfortunate reality of real life - - versus space life - - our only recording time was the Sunday night following our trip. This was not enough time to get the gang together so next week, we'll be telling you all about the recent voyage. In this episode, we share details about the party we got to throw the night before the voyage. . . a party with 80 of our new closest friends! It was an amazing night and so much fun. We hope to convey that sense of fun and what the evening meant to us here.Epic Sci-Fi Trailer | Eternals by Alex-Productions | https://onsound.eu/Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.comCreative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported Licensehttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en_USSupport the showHeroes of the Halcyon on InstagramTheme Music ("Digital Discourse") by Yellow BarrelSend your email to heroesofthehalcyon@gmail.com - we'd love to hear from you about your journeys, episode suggestions, or just to say hi!
As this episode releases on May 5th, the heroes will be disembarking from May The Fourth 2023 voyage on the Halcyon. As a result, we're releasing a classic episode from our archives about an appropriate topic - LARP "drop". This term refers to the post-voyage withdrawal that several people report feeling with they leave their Galactic Starcruiser voyage. There can be little question - especially for folks who have been passengers onboard the Halcyon - that Disney's Galactic Starcruiser voyage is truly a work of art. Accordingly, like any other great work of art, the experience is designed to evoke strong feelings. However, because experiencing the voyage is 100% interactive and not passive like watching a movie or TV show or reading a book, the emotions it elicits can be significantly more powerful - both during and after a trip aboard the Halcyon. We invited former guest Jen Catania of Jen Eyre Cosplay to come discuss these feelings with us and how the Imagineering & LARP wizards at Disney have crafted the experience with these emotional journeys in mind. We talk about LARP 'bleed' and LARP 'drop' and also about how Jen apparently has bad luck around giant robots. :)There are no spoilers in this episode . . . except to say we all love the Halcyon and our voyages . . . But you knew that, right?Jen Eyre CosplayJen Eyre Cosplay InstagramGalactic Starcruiser Drop - Post-Voyage Emotional Support group on FacebookEpic Sci-Fi Trailer | Eternals by Alex-Productions | https://onsound.eu/Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.comCreative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported Licensehttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en_USSupport the showHeroes of the Halcyon on InstagramTheme Music ("Digital Discourse") by Yellow BarrelSend your email to heroesofthehalcyon@gmail.com - we'd love to hear from you about your journeys, episode suggestions, or just to say hi! Is the Galactic Starcruiser worth the cost and if so, why?We also discuss our brand new Patreon page, our upcoming Orlando meetup, and chat about recent cast change announcements on the Halcyon.
