The host also provides five steps to set oneself up for success in reaching the $100,000 milestone, including investing in education, improving image and branding, implementing effective marketing strategies, enhancing communication skills, and adding value to the client experience. Takeaways Having open and honest conversations about money is important for salon owners and service providers. There are three main ways to increase income in the beauty industry: having more clients, higher average ticket, or increasing prices. To set oneself up for success in reaching the $100,000 milestone, it is important to invest in education, improve image and branding, implement effective marketing strategies, enhance communication skills, and add value to the client experience. Beauty industry professionals spend thousands on marketing tactics every year. Still, with a new client retention rate of 30% throughout the industry, it's hard to know if we're actually keeping most new clients. The solution? Create a resource that empowers business owners to better themselves, their team, and their clients. That solution originally became Meet Your Stylist, a fun, easy, and accurate match-making technology designed for salons, hairstylists, and their clientele. Since then, Meet Your Stylist has evolved into mya, the proprietary match-making software serving hairstylists, barbers, and estheticians throughout the beauty industry.  Where We Are Now mya has now helped hundreds of professionals across the beauty industry grow their businesses through better first-time experiences. By pairing people based on their skill set, budget, personality and lifestyle preferences, mya creates lasting relationships that keep both sides coming back for more. mya was created to help beauty industry professionals build their perfect clientele. We believe everyone should have confidence in their appearance, so we strive to create unique experiences that cater to each client's personality, budget, love language, and lifestyle preferences. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jennifer-alvarez0/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jennifer-alvarez0/support

Facebook.com/groups/salonandsuitebusiness instagram.com/jenniferjadealvarez info@jenniferjadealvarez.com Leave a five star review and let me know what topics you would love to hear more on! Thank you for being a part of the podcast There are two ways to increase your income and that is through guest count and your average ticket. But how do we increase this? Signature Consultation What do you like and dislike? What is the goal? What is the history What is the inspiration (Never take the verbal description of clients desire as an accurate description) Recommend the solution - What is the homecare and maintenance for this look  Cost transparency Time transparency Verbal Agreement to move forward If a a color correction or a questionable result sign a consent form  Retail The importance of retail is that it is directly related to increasing your retention and referrals.  For the salon it increases the profits without the trade of time.  The salon can use their profits to invest in more opportunities for sales and supplies.  When we purchase X amount of products we can redeem rewards like BACKBAR or education.   When to talk about retail and how: During service- 4 times 4 different ways When using the product, tell them the cadence of it.  The key word is telling.  If you don't mention it throughout their entire service and then at the end when they leave the treatment room or take off the cape they are not paying attention or focused on your recommendations because now it feels salesy.  The rule of three- Clients are 75% more likely to purchase 1 product when recommended three.  Make a habit of setting the three products you would like them to take home right in front of them. Timing is everything so I would set the products in front of them during their processing or right before you blow dry or cut their hair. It is your responsibility to study what is on the shelf and know how to use it what the benefits are and who is a good candidate for that product Make yourself flash cards, google it, ask someone for help.  Make yourself a list of products that are beneficial to specific challenges Dryness, Aging, Oily, color retention, repair. Any challenge that you can think of We need to be quick on our feet and if you don't know that answer your response should be “I don't know the answer to that but I will find out and get back to you by tomorrow” Rebooking  Despite certain beliefs, rebooking is essential to your business to increase FOV, proper maintenance, builds trust and relationships, creates predictable income, and customer loyalty.  While color is on their hair this is when we need to rebook their next 2 visits. The goal should be 75% of your clients should have their next 2 visits on your books. Especially if they are a modern blonding, extension client, or getting ready for a special event and need their hair and skin looking its best.  Upgrading the service Enhancing the guest experience. If we don't offer the answer will always be NO. Increasing the average ticket is done through upgrading the service. I recommend packaging in your treatments or upgrades during the consultation.  In what ways can you give them the ultimate experience?  Verbally communicate the benefits of these enhancements along with price transparency because no one enjoys a sticker stock.  Another great time to offer an upgrade while the client is relaxing (such as while they are processing, or during a massage, or scalp massage)  Make a list of all your upgrade opportunities that you can offer during a service.  You could create a special menu and show clients after their consultation and ask if there is anything that would like to add during today's visit that they would like to enjoy  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jennifer-alvarez0/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jennifer-alvarez0/support

Mindset Lessons in life will be repeated until they are learned- It's inevitable that challenges will arise and not everyday will go according to the plan. We must be in the constant state of learning, implementing and preparing for the good times and the difficult times. 2. Take Action Learn 20%, take action 80%- Just because you are doing a lot more doesn't mean you are getting a lot done. Don't confuse movement with progress. Practice, Train, and Prepare yourself so that you are ready for situations. 3. Motivation Why do you work - What are your priorities? No one wants to do the hard stuff and work isn't always going to be fun. It is all a part of the job description though. You need your towels folding, bathroom clean, bills paid, and catering to clients needs. It's not always the most glamorous part but it is one segment of our job tasks. In this class you will learn 5 low cost ways to market your business to bring in your dream clients, increase your retention, bring in more referrals and generate more sales. In addition I will share my 3 strategies that will double your teams income and happiness Use Code Jennifer5 https://www.ilbeautyceu.com/2022-virtual-education-event/2022-virtual-event Communication – Developing strong communication skills is essential when it comes to building a successful career. 93 percent of communication is non-verbal. People's perception of you Are you Active Listening during your consultation- listening to understand What is your Facial Expressions? Are you making eye contact, nod your head. What is your attitude 55% is Body Language 38% is the tone and inflection, Verbal Communication- How you articulate information and expectations When you attain strong communication skills you will be More productive, have better control, and develop stronger relationships Teamwork- any company hiring right now is looking for a teamplayer. Teamwork is based on relationships, and at the foundation of every relationship is trust Collaboration- you can go fast alone or far together. I love collaborating on clients hair to accomplish the task at hand. There is a better experience for the client, the ideas are typically better as there are different perspectives and you most likely can learn something from each other. Be clear on the goal to complete project and be on the same page. Conflict management- No matter how well your team gets along, there are bound to be conflicts at some point. Knowing how to de-escalate and resolve issues will be key to keeping you and your team happy, healthy and productive. I always believe it is best that two people work things out before management steps in. Trust- Trust develops over time after getting to know people and seeing evidence that you can rely on them. hold each other accountable for the goals you set. Reliability- You want to be a reliable team member so that your coworkers or leader can trust you with certain jobs, responsibility or company information Time management Without proper time management skills, you simply lack the capacity to organize your time, yourself in general or others in a smart and consistent way. If you want to be good at time management, you have to treat your time as the most precious resource you possess. Managing time effectively demonstrates your ability to work efficiently and productively. I believe it is important to arrive atleaset 15 minutes before your client so that you can mentally prepare and have your station and any loose ends squared away When you have strong time management skills it allows you to prioritize and recognize the importance of delegation. Example if you are working with an assistant how can they help you do save time by setting up your station and handing you foils. If you are a business owner you can hire a social media manager so that you can focus more on growing your business and team. Great time management also highlights other key skills such as goal setting, focus and stress management. Setting boundaries- Its ok to say no even if that means no to yourself. Think about how long you scroll on social media. Do you think it may be time to put boundaries in place of how long you are filling your mind with nonsense? Make time for rest- Do things for yourself to help eliminate burnout --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jennifer-alvarez0/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jennifer-alvarez0/support

Just use the code GAMECHANGER. www.mysalondesk.com Join the Free Facebook Group www.facebook.com/groups/salonandsuitebusiness Why is retail important? Retention Referral Creates Memory of experience Create Perceived professionalism + credibility Builds trust Continueing education Support Points to use on backbar products and education If we believe in our industry as professional and know that there is a difference between professional products and non-professional products, why is this not an important part of our business. We know when client is using the right products and ingredients it is creating style support, color retention, longevity, health balance, - BUT YET we do not have the right script down or make it a part of the experience we want to give our clients. If you are working for a salon and receive 20% retail commission if you sold $1000 a month in retail that is an extra $2,400 a year more than if you sold nothing Now there are multiple ways to do your retail from in the salon, digital products to educational videos to, drop shipping to affiliate links. Choose the ones that work best for you but don't let it a afterthought meaning make it a part of the experience. Why we don't value retail it because of a misconception that we are being sleazy salesmens when in fact it's based on FEAR Fear of failure Fear of rejection Fear of judgement Fear of dissatisfaction The reality is that we can not control the outcome however the outcome with be positive when you are focusing on the client and wanting to help find real solutions to their challenges. Instead, we must see the VALUE in the importance of helping our clients. Build Trust and a relationship with them first and foremost. There are millions of beauty products to choose from. So we need to find products and results that excite us. When to speak about retail Consultation- • Find The Challenge, problems, and desired outcome. Questions to ask- • What are three outcomes that are important to the client: Frizzy free Volume Shine Hydration Anti-aging Thickness Clean beauty- Free of specific ingredients Color Retention • Inform client that you will educate them on what you need During Chemical application- •educate client on why it's important to use the right products- Instill some fear. •Read the warning label when doing this process During shampoo- • How to properly shampoo and tell what you are using. • How does that smell? Feel? • Use this moment to Heighten the senses Before Styling- What I am using and the benefits After Styling- How to use •After Client views 360°- How do you feel what I used on you today? • Imagine your hair looking like this every day? Recap- process, Introduce three products, open product and smell it and pass it to the client. People often mirror eachother. Common Objections Cost No Need Not right now What is our Attitude- Let take a temperature check on where we are and how we can develop a winning attitude. Influence Certainty Communication Thoughtful Enthusiasm We must be consistent with our effort and keep focus on our goals. You can do this! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jennifer-alvarez0/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jennifer-alvarez0/support
