Today's guest has rewired modern hip-hop. His fingerprints live all over the last decade but the real story behind that success is far more human, painful, and transformative than the headlines ever show. In this conversation, he opens up about the highs and lows of being a producer in hip-hop: the pressure, the politics, the contracts, the moments that nearly broke him, and the breakthroughs that almost didn't happen. He also shares the lessons shaped by fatherhood, betrayal, and real perseverance — all while creating some of the most important and culture-defining music of our time. And The Writer Is... Hitboy! Episode 98 begins with the gang responding to reactions from their previous clips about the No Limit vs Cash Money VERZUZ battle, where the internet overwhelmingly called them crazy for even suggesting the matchup was close...let alone leaning toward Cash Money.   Things move on to the surprise Offset project that seemingly dropped out of nowhere. After some digging, and based on Offset's own words, the mixtape was simply a ploy to “get out the deal.” The crew discusses other times in music history when the line between album and mixtape was blurred, especially when it comes to contract fulfillment.   DJXP then brings up a conversation Ja Rule had on 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony, where Ja said he doesn't take credit for starting the sing-rap trend in hip-hop...but does take credit for pioneering the singer/rapper duet formula. He also claimed his music aged better than 50 Cent's while still giving 50 his flowers. The group debates their catalogs and the long-standing beef.   Next, they talk about Outkast's legendary induction into the highly coveted Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Before sharing their thoughts, they address the vocal flubs that occurred during Doja Cat's tribute performance of “Ms. Jackson.”   Following last episode's conversation about Ye, multiple new Kanye West sightings have popped up including him asking a rabbi for forgiveness and performing with Travis Scott in Japan leading to a discussion about his quiet re-emergence.   As Summer Walker's new album drops, DJXP praises her marketing campaign before addressing backlash over her collaborating with Chris Brown.   The group then discusses the dangerous precedent of AI in music, especially surrounding Xania Monet and her viral interview with Gayle King....where Gayle bluntly told her, “but you can't sing.”   The episode wraps with Grammy nominations, predictions on who will win key awards, and a Pluribus 2 reaction that leads to praise for Vince Gilliam and eventually for TV writer Taylor Sheridan.

He opens up about the fear and rejection that came with pioneering a new format, getting banned from filming locations, and the relentless grind that turned a spontaneous COVID experiment into a full-blown global brand. They dive deep into the mechanics of virality—authenticity, timing, algorithms, and creative evolution—and explore how understanding people is just as important as understanding platforms. Daniel also reveals behind-the-scenes stories from celebrity encounters with Mark Zuckerberg, Travis Scott, and Jay Leno, showing that even the world's biggest names are just people at the end of the day. This episode is a masterclass in creative determination, self-belief, and staying grounded while the internet tries to turn you into a caricature. Whether you're a content creator, entrepreneur, or someone searching for the courage to take your first leap—this one will hit home.

RUNDOWN   Mitch and Hotshot recap the Mariners' Ichiro celebration weekend, praising the team's tribute while questioning the odd inclusion of Tom Brady in the video montage—especially after deliberately omitting Alex Rodriguez to avoid boos. Episode 346's “area code spotlight” on Houston's, highlights a long list of famous residents and musical talent from ZZ Top and Kenny Rogers to Beyoncé and Travis Scott. Mitch and Hotshot marvel at the Mariners' blistering run—seven straight wins, 13 games over .500, and now just a game behind the Astros with 43 to play. With stars like Gino Suarez yet to heat up and pitching still not at peak form, the duo wonders just how high this team's ceiling might be. In this Mariners No-Table, Mitch, Joe Doyle, and Brady Farkas break down Seattle's 9–1 homestand, surging offense, and remarkable lineup depth even with Gino Suarez and Cal Raleigh struggling. They debate bullpen concerns—especially Andres Muñoz's command—plus looming roster decisions with Luke Raley and Victor Robles returning. Jacson Bevens joins Mitch for some key takeaways from Seattle's preseason opener, spotlighting rookie WR Tory Horton's strong debut, dynamic fullback usage, and a cleverly schemed interception that showcased Mike Macdonald's defense. They discuss the ceiling and depth of the defense, the roles of Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet, and the need for top performances from CBs Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon. In this re-aired classic, John Tesh tells Mitch the now-famous story of how “Roundball Rock” was born, from humming the tune into his answering machine in Europe to bringing it to life in the studio. He shares behind-the-scenes details about working with NBC, the song's enduring legacy, and his surprise at how deeply it has embedded itself in basketball culture.   GUESTS   Brady Farkas | Host, Refuse to Lose Podcast (Mariners on SI) Joe Doyle | MLB Draft & Mariners Analyst, Over Slot Substack Jacson Bevens | Cigar Thoughts, Seahawks Writer John Tesh | "Roundball Rock" - NBA's Iconic Theme   TABLE OF CONTENTS   0:00 | Mariners Celebrate Ichiro Weekend, Roast Tom Brady Video Cameo, and Spotlight Houston's 346 with Musical Legends 23:30 | Mariners Surge to Within One Game of Houston Behind Deep, Dangerous Lineup 39:21 | GUEST: Mariners No-Table: Red-Hot Offense, Roster Crunch Looming, and Pennant-Race Predictions 1:09:33 | GUEST: Jacson Bevens; Seahawks Preseason Takeaways: Horton Impresses, Fullback Power, Defensive Potential, and QB Depth Questions 1:29:50 | GUEST: John Tesh Recounts Creating the Iconic NBA on NBC Theme 1:51:50 | Other Stuff Segment: Seahawks vs. Raiders preseason game recap (and missed viewing due to building furniture), Seahawks upcoming preseason game vs. Chiefs — questions on starters like Sam Darnold and WR Tory Horton, Rookie Gray Zabel's strong performance at guard in preseason, Los Angeles Chargers LT Rashaan Slater — $113M contract extension followed by ruptured patella tendon in practice, NASCAR driver Connor Zilisch's clavicle injury while celebrating race win (compared to Kendrys Morales' injury), Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes' performance — ERA stats and seven-hit game, Proposal for Backstreet Boys vs. NSYNC in “The Match” golf event (and lack of interest from Mitch/Scott), Former NFL RB LaShaun Johnson sentenced for large-scale dogfighting operation, Former Miami Heat security officer Marco Thomas Perez charged with stealing/selling game-used memorabilia (including LeBron's Game 7 jersey), Houston police officer under investigation for TikTok video about writing tickets due to lack of sex, Johnstown, PA wins Little League Softball World Series — standout pitching by Reagan Bills, Tom Brady statue unveiled at Gillette Stadium (commentary on appearance), John Cena discusses hair transplant and hair loss stigma, Jen Pawol becomes first female umpire in MLB regular-season game, Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Cam Little hits 70-yard FG in preseason game, Starbucks Korea bans desktop computers, printers, and large setups in stores, Mariano Rivera tears Achilles in Yankees Old-Timers Game RIP Segment: Bobby Whitlock — Derek and the Dominos co-founder, first white artist signed to Stax Records, Jim Lovell — Apollo 13 commander, astronaut with four spaceflights Headlines: Owner of Trump Burger in Houston facing deportation, Man lights cigarette from Eternal Flame at Arc de Triomphe (Paris), Ice cream shop releases breast milk–flavored ice cream, Japanese teacher fired for working part-time at a convenience store; school apologizes to students.

On this episode of The Adam Carolla Show, comedian Jessimae Peluso stops by the studio! Adam starts off with a bleak observation about Malibu's slow recovery, noting that the local Equinox has been shuttered for six months while the Taco Bell across the street never closed. Jessimae and Adam take a look at Erewhon's absurd prices—including Hailey Bieber's $20 smoothie and question the legitimacy of trendy health fads like sea moss. They also weigh in on the bizarre cultural crossover of celebrities like Travis Scott having signature smoothies and McDonald's meals, and wrap up the segment with a cringe-worthy clip of E. Jean Carroll's awkward interview with Anderson Cooper. In the news, Jason “Mayhem” Miller joins to cover some wild headlines. A former MLB pitcher has been convicted of murdering his father-in-law in a chilling home invasion that involved hours of shocking security footage. Then, things take a lighter, but weirder turn with a viral TikTok story about single women in Manhattan allegedly stealing lunches to get dates, hoping a swiped salad will turn into romance via LinkedIn. Finally, they review a new 2028 Democratic primary poll showing Kamala Harris as an early frontrunner, despite her recent landslide loss to Donald Trump.Legendary boxer Manny Pacquiao calls in to talk about his upcoming WBC welterweight title fight against Mario Barrios.
