Despite visible panic, the show continued for over 30 minutes after a mass casualty event was declared. Dave and Jeff hadn't seen it before, John has seen it several times because he's a fancy film school nerd bro, so we grab a few whiskeys and beers and talk about it! We also catch up on the California tax credit news for film and entertainment, John gives some spoiler-free mini-reviews of “28 Years Later” and “F1”, and we fill you in on all the happenings of 1948 to add context to our feature conversation, which may help you understand why the movie was not a financial hit… at first. It's just Kevin and Andrew this week and thanks to the magic of tangents, they turn a little into a lot! They cover the new film Deep Cover in Prime, Trainwreck: The Astroworld Tragedy, FUBAR, The Last of Us, Expedition 33, and more! Kevin kicks things off with a quick review of Deep Cover, now playing on Prime, starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, Nick Mohammed, and what seems like everyone else under the sun. This movie doesn't reinvent the wheel (the idea is even strikingly similar to Hit Man starring Glen Powell), but it does lead to a really fun ride. If you're looking for a quick, fun, adventure, this is a good one to throw on. Next up, Andrew takes us to the seedy side of the concert world with Trainwreck: The Astroworld Tragedy on Netflix. This one documents the events leading up to, and the fallout from, the Astroworld 3 concert with Travis Scott. It's laundry list of things gone horribly wrong that resulted in the deaths of 10 concert goers and several more injuries. There's a lot to be learned here, so give this one a watch. Kevin lightens the mood again after this with a quick review of the first few episodes of FUBAR Season 2 on Netflix. Much like Deep Cover, this doesn't reinvent the wheel and it doesn't do much to stand out from season one, but it is still a fun and witty show with a fantastic cast. Everyone is funny and the action is well done. The addition of Carrie Anne Moss and Guy Burnett are very welcome, too, and do manage to bring more depth to the show. After finishing the main content, Kevin takes us into the gaming world with a quick talk about his sons experience with The Last of Us parts 1 & 2 - games he swore "weren't that great." Spoiler alert, he now believes they are great and might be his favorite games. Who knew a dad could be right?!? Next up Kevin talks about the very French masterpiece, Clair Obscur - Expedition 33. It's a wonderful game full of art and emotion and an absolutely gorgeous soundtrack. If story based RPGs are your jam and you haven't played this, get on it. It's a heavily favored game of the year candidate at this point. The guys then close out the show going down various rabbit holes, highlighted by Black Phone 2 and Superman. There's a lot of good stuff in there at the end, so definitely hang in there! As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. We love new viewers! Also, leave us comments and let is know how we are doing and what we can be doing better. Enjoy the episode and have a great week! In this episode, Wellington is back to discuss OKC's Game 5 win vs. the Pacers and Jalen Williams' monster game. Next up, he discusses Tyrese Haliburton's injury, his lackluster performance and Desmond Bane heading to Orlando after the Memphis trade on Sunday along with KD's ongoing new team pursuit. In the second half, Wellington reacts to the Clipse' new song and video "So Be It" plus Pusha T's shots at Travis Scott and possibly Ye at the end of the track.

This week, the boys discuss the remarkable film year of 1953, the events that transpired around the world in that year, and Fritz Lang's “The Big Heat”. Perhaps an early trailblazer of the detective-with-a-personal-vendetta genre (is it a film noir???), this fascinating film led to a productive conversation! We drank a bit this week, too. This week, the boys head back to 2007 to spin another Roger Deakins film, “No Country For Old Men”, currently streaming on Paramount+. While other shows have covered the film, we shoot from the hip and discuss how it felt to re-watch it and what it means to us. F those other stuffy critic narcs. The cinematographer from Dave's homeland had a helluva a year with three award-winning films, this one winning Best Picture at the Oscars, and cementing the Coen Brothers as industry elites, much to their Chigurh (that's a movie joke). Yeah, it beat “There Will Be Blood”. We talk about it a bit. John also opens with his “MI” and “Friendship” takes. Grab a beer and hear our thoughts. Our phone number is 646-484-9298. On today's episode of the Occult Symbolism and Pop Culture with Isaac Weishaupt podcast we start a deep dive into Portals! In Part 1 we'll define the term from the idea of literal gateways to the metaphysical concept of thresholds and how they represent transitions between worlds or unlocking enlightenment through magick rituals using triangles of manifestation and magical circles. We'll talk about Carl Jung's symbolism of the portal as a gateway to the subconscious or shadow and we'll get into the tools used for portals like scrying stones or bathtubs. Finally we'll run through a ton of pop culture portals you've seen in your favorite films like Alice in Wonderland, 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twin Peaks!Stay subscribed to the show for Part 2 where we'll talk about literal portals- where are they, how are they constructed and who was messing around with these things. On today's show, Tyrese Haliburton went crazy and made history in last night's Game 4 win over the Knicks, where Haliburton ranks among the elite in the league, how these conference finalists were built, why it gives us hope for the Grizzlies + the players with the most IG followers, Travis Scott's UTOPIA, Shaboozey, Rob49 and whatever else comes our mind. We go off the rails a little (3:00)
Atlanta-based producer and songwriter, Turbo (aka Chandler A. Great), has been behind hits from Travis Scott, Gunna, Lil Baby, Nav, and Young Thug. His signature productions are easily recognized, and he has an innate ability to distill songs and their presentations down to their essence and a feeling. Geoff Stanfield caught up with Turbo from his home in Atlanta to discuss his early days, production process, genre-bending collaborations, and how he strives to always be evolving. Enjoy!
