What do you wish I asked this guest? What was your "quotable moment" from this episode? We talk with Irish author Geraldine Moorkens Byrne about reclaiming Irish tradition through language, lived practice, and the sound that shapes spellwork. She shares how listening, humming, and careful words can change your magic and your life, then we end with folklore and a collaborative Beltane-style blessing. • how the Irish Pagan School approaches indigenous Irish traditions with scholarship and lived practice • learning Irish as an adult and releasing shame through “better broken Irish than clever English” • why “witch” does not translate cleanly in Ireland and why bean feasa “woman of knowledge” fits better • using sound in magic through place attunement, pitch, and words of power • why humming shows up repeatedly in Irish folklore and folk practice • folk cautions around whistling at night and speaking invitations out loud • struggles in practice: nuance, rabbit holes, and choosing practice over endless research • joy as a skill: stopping long enough to hear birdsong or a perfect line of poetry • what the magical community needs more of: permission to find things hard and learn slowly • influences on practice: family, friends, and finding a supportive “tribe” online • Draíocht Ceoil book details, classes, and where to find Geraldine • co-crafting a spring into summer blessing using flowers, fire, and rising sound See more of Geraldine at the links below:celebratingwords.comInstagram- @gerceltauthortiktok- @draiochtceoilSupport the showSupport the show and get tons of bonus content, videos, monthly spell boxes, and more at CrepuscularConjuration.com!Or become a paying subscriber on Buzzsprout: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1777532/supportWant to see if you're a good fit for the show? Climate change isn't happening because regular people failed. It's happening because a handful of billionaires got rich by wrecking the planet and buying politicians to protect their profits. Voting matters—but it's not enough. If elections alone fixed this, fossil fuel profits wouldn't still be breaking records. Real change happens every day. In how we travel. What we buy. Who we support. What we refuse to fund. Clean energy is already the cheapest power in history. Pollution is what costs us. We can't wait for bought politicians to save us. Ye Vagabonds are brothers Brían and Diarmuid Mac Gloinn. They grew up in rural Carlow but moved to Dublin in 2012 and became known on the traditional Irish, blues and folk scenes in the city, playing folk songs as well as their own original material, (Bandcamp). They're part a wave of bands who've remade or extended the folk tradition; they've also collaborated with members  of the Dublin new music group Crash Ensemble. Their award-winning music is a traditional mix of traditional Irish and European music, old time American tunes, sibling harmonies, and the music of the 1960s folk revival. Ye Vagabonds are working on their fourth album due in 2026, to be called All Tied Together, and they'll play some of their new songs, in-studio.Set list: 1 On Sitric Road 2. Thin Lizzy – "Black Rose: A Rock Legend"

SWR1 Meilensteine - Alben die Geschichte machten

1979 veröffentlichten Thin Lizzy ihr Album "Black Rose: A Rock Legend". Do Anything You Want To". (mg)

Remember the time when the earth was green, there were more kind of drunks than you'd ever seen, they ran around free when it was St Paddy's day but the loveliest of all was the Leprechaun. So this is the story when I got the be in the Chicago St Patrick Day Parade with my beloved local bar Johnny Ohagans. The day-long festivities started real early with a hearty Irish breakfast to get the juices flowing, heading to the parade to wait and drink and wait and drink until the parade began. Then more drinking and shenanigans throughout the day. In the new folk horror movie Unwelcome, an English couple moves to the Irish countryside only to discover that goblins called Redcaps live behind their garden, and demand to be fed daily, or else they become hungry, and ornery. Director Jon Wright (Grabbers, Robot Overlords) joins Talking Strange to discuss Unwelcome, the film that's both a creature feature as well as something of a home invasion film. It begins with an English couple mother-to-be Maya and husband Jaime (played by Hannah John-Kamen, from Ant-Man and The Wasp, and the MCU's upcoming Thunderbolts, and Douglas Booth Netflix's The Dirt, Jupiter Ascending) threatened in their London flat, only to move to the Irish countryside due to a home that's been left to them by an aunt who has passed away. They set about doing renovations on the home, as well as interacting with superstitious townspeople who warn them to set out food nightly for the Redcaps…but another threat involves a family of local contractors who are up to no good and resent the English interlopers. In the following conversation, Wright and host Aaron Sagers discuss the folkloric origins of the film, and the tonal balance. He also reveals more about the crazy ending and sequel ideas for this cult classic in the making. Unwelcome is available now on digital in the UK, Coming to Select Theaters March 10 and Digital March 14. _______________________________________________________________ Talking Strange Paranormal Podcast is part of the Den of Geek network, and is hosted by Aaron Sagers, paranormal journalist and researcher, and Paranormal Pop Culture expert.
