Send us a textBosco and Christian return as a dynamic duo for a conversation that weaves through musical icons, basketball legends, and cinematic gems with the natural flow that defines their podcast chemistry. Ever wonder who you'd sound like if you could magically sing? The hosts open up about their dream vocal abilities, with Christian admiring Music Soulchild's smooth delivery while Bosco fantasizes about channeling Luther Vandross or even Bobby Brown. Their discussion evolves into a passionate breakdown of R&B legends, highlighting how performers like Keith Sweat prove that emotional connection often transcends technical perfection. When they marvel at Johnny Gill's prodigious talent—sounding like Eddie Levert at just 14 years old—you can feel their genuine appreciation for musical mastery. The conversation shifts seamlessly to creative processes, with Christian revealing his journey from writing rap lyrics inspired by Eminem to crafting free-verse poetry. Their analysis of Lil Wayne's improvisational genius ("the LeBron James of rap") captures why certain artists change the game forever. Speaking of basketball, their debate about the sport's greatest ball handlers becomes a thoughtful meditation on how we judge talent across generations, punctuated by Bosco's personal encounters with Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Michael Jordan.Perhaps most compelling is their exploration of body image and gym culture—noting with insightful irony that fitness spaces are paradoxically filled with the most insecure people. The episode concludes with enthusiastic movie recommendations, especially "Woman in the Yard," which Christian discovered bears an uncanny resemblance to a screenplay he once wrote.Join us for this authentic conversation between friends and don't forget to follow us on Instagram @nobodystalkingpodcast where you can send us messages and connect with the community we're building together. Thanks for listening to the Nobody's Talking Podcast. Radio Funk | Le Podcast de Funky Pearls Radio

Today on Funky Pearls Radio, we're exploring the remarkable story of The O'Jays , a group that has left an indelible mark on R and B and soul music with their harmonious sounds and timeless hits.  Originating from Canton, Ohio, The O'Jays were initially formed as a quintet, later evolving into a trio during their most prominent recording years in the mid-1970s at Philadelphia International Records.  The original lineup included Walter Williams, Bill Isles, Bobby Massey, William Powell, and Eddie Levert. The group, initially known as The Triumphs and later The Mascots, changed their name to The O'Jays in 1963 as a tribute to the local Cleveland radio DJ, Eddie O'Jay.  Their early singles as The Mascots, including 'Story Of My Heart' and 'Lonely Rain', gained local traction and set the stage for their future success. The O'Jays' journey took a significant turn when they met producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. This collaboration led to the release of the album 'The O'Jays In Philadelphia' in 1969, showcasing their early work under Gamble and Huff's guidance. Their big break came in 1972 with the single 'Back Stabbers' from the album of the same name, which became a massive hit.  The group's success continued with the release of 'Ship Ahoy' in 1973, featuring the iconic 'For the Love of Money', and their live album 'The O'Jays Live In London' in 1974. Albums like 'Survival' and 'Family Reunion' in 1975 further solidified their status in the R and B world, with hits like 'I Love Music' and 'Living For The Weekend'. Tragedy struck with the passing of William Powell in 1977, but the group continued, with Sammy Strain joining the lineup. Their subsequent albums, including 'Travelin' at the Speed of Thought' (1977) and 'So Full of Love' (1978), which featured 'Use Ta Be My Girl', continued to chart successfully. Throughout the late '70s and '80s, The O'Jays released several albums, including 'Identify Yourself' (1979) and 'My Favorite Person' (1982), showcasing their ability to evolve with the times. Their album 'When Will I See You Again' in 1983 was notable for its modern sound, further demonstrating their versatility. The O'Jays continued to release music into the new millennium, with albums like 'For The Love' (2001) and 'Imagination' (2004).  Their contributions to music were recognized with inductions into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004 and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. In 2003, The O'Jays co-starred in the movie 'The Fighting Temptations', showcasing their talent beyond music.  The group's ongoing influence and popularity were celebrated at the 2009 BET Award Show, where they were honored with the Life Time Achievement Award.  Despite challenges, including Walter Williams' battle with multiple sclerosis, The O'Jays have continued to inspire with their music and performances. Their latest albums, including 'Christmas With The O'Jays' (2010) and 'The Last Word' (2019), reflect their enduring appeal and legacy.  As we honor The O'Jays on Funky Pearls Radio, we celebrate a group that has been the soundtrack to many lives, with songs that speak to love, struggle, and triumph. From their humble beginnings in Canton to the pinnacle of soul and R and B music, The O'Jays' journey is a testament to the enduring power of music to connect, uplift, and endure.Hébergé par Ausha. That's it. That's about all the description we need. The O'jays have such an expansive catalogue of music that has inarguably touched most Americans in some way, shape or form.  Most of us get the warm and fuzzies when we hear the opening bars of "our song" by the legendary trio. Original member Walter Williams takes us down memory lane, and elaborates on his unshakable faith while Eric Nolan talks about enjoying life, loving everything you have, smelling the roses and the privilege of singing with his idol. (Eddie Levert is recovering from COVID. Sending love, light and healing energy!) Catch their latest album, The Last Word, and catch them on tour in a city near you!

Laura starts dance lessons and Todd tries to understand sports before talking to the multi-talented broadway performer from Rock of Ages and all around kind human, Regina LeVert. Regina talks to Laura and Todd about what it was like being born with 6 fingers, being a part of a musical family with relatives like Eddie LeVert of the “O'Jays” and Gerald LeVert of “LeVert,” and her experience with Muscle Tension Dysphonia, a condition caused by stress that quite literally took her voice. The trio also dives deep in to what it was like for Regina growing up in America as a black woman, racism on different coasts, code-switching, being white adjacent, the Will Smith “incident” and what it means when people say “to privileged people, equality feels like oppression.” Regina's latest work, Black Canvas, will be available to the public soon (we'll keep you posted!) and her yet to be titled book containing interviews with broadway and theater legends will be released within the year. Regina's WebsiteRegina's Social:FacebookInstagramRock of Ages Review:“Notably, Regina LeVert has such a commanding presence as Justice that when she comes on in Act II, she is instantaneously a crowd favorite. LeVert further has the audience in the palm of her hand with a contemporary version of Journey's “Any Way You Want It,” which puts the spotlight on Justice's agile pole dancers”About Regina: She was such a shy kid that it wasn't until college, that she discovered her love for the arts. Shortly after passing Acting 101 for Non Majors, Regina started a journey that has gifted her with seeing most of the world. While singing and dancing in many tours and productions in Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States, Regina became a certified scuba diver, zip-lined in the Costa Rican rainforest, sung in the Sydney Opera House, eaten scorpion in Singapore, kayaked with a school of dolphins and cage dived with sharks in Hawaii, and shot grade 4 rapids in New Zealand! Regina's love of singing is in her blood…she is proud to count the late Gerald LeVert of the R&B group LeVert, and his father Eddie LeVert of the Grammy Hall of Fame R&B group, the O'Jays, as family who have inspired her. The latest episode features Alyson Williams discussing her illustrious recording career, upcoming projects, women rappers, and much more. In the late 80s, the Harlem singer became the first female R&B artist signed to the groundbreaking Def Jam rap label. Alyson’s first album, "Raw," garnered several top 5 singles, including slow jam favorite “Just Call My Name.” The album went on to spend over a year on the Billboard charts, met only by Madonna’s “Like a Prayer.” After leaving Def Jam, the daughter of trumpeter and bandleader Bobby Booker, moved to Columbia records (now Sony) and released her second album. The self-titled release nabbed two top ten hits – “Just My Luck” and “Can’t Have My Man.”Alyson would go on to release two more albums – in 2004 and 2010.Before success as a solo artist, she sang background for hitmakers including Melba Moore, Evelyn Champagne King, and Kurtis Blow. Yep, that was Alyson singing the hook on classic Kurtis Blow rap tracks – "Basketball" and "If I Ruled the World." In addition to a recording career, Alyson enjoyed acting and singing in musical reviews and stage plays both on and off Broadway in shows including “One Mo Time” and the “25th Anniversary Revival of the Wiz." She worked with actors/and singers Lynn Whitfield, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Carl Payne, The Whispers, and Eddie Levert of The O'Jays. Currently, Alyson has a lot on her plate – working on a new jazz album, an upcoming virtual show honoring her friend and gone-too-soon singer Phyliss Hyman (click here for ticket information), and a radio show on WHCR in New York. Artists whose music and messages influenced, moulded, shaped, inspired, and galvanised change in people’s lives and which today still continues to inspire a generation of people who are asking "Where are they now?” This project was inspired by the loss of so many amazing artists at the beginning of 2016.

Eddie Levert, Sr. is one of the founders and lead singers of the legendary R&B group, The O'Jays. Known for his raspy voice and sexy moves, Eddie has a range that takes him from alto to second tenor. His style is full of emotion and deep passion. To add to his resume, Levert has written and produced many hits as well as mentoring his very successful sons Gerald and Sean who also became major forces in the music industry. With a career that spans over 50 years, Eddie Levert has done and seen enough to write many books, one of which him and his late son Gerald have already completed ('I Got Your Back' pub. 2008). To understand Eddie Levert, you can start with the journey of the O'Jays and keep going because there is much more. Eddie Levert was born June 16, 1942 in Bessemer, Alabama. At the age of 6 Eddie moved to Canton, Ohio where he attended church regularly and joined the church choir and began his musical journey. As Eddie continued singing into his teenage years he became a recognized voice in the church choir, sang in school plays and performed regularly on a gospel radio show. By the time he reached high school, young Eddie Levert knew that singing was what he wanted to do, teaming up with classmates Walter Williams, William Powell, Bobby Massey and Bill Isles to form a group called the Triumps. The Triumps played locally in Canton opening for different acts, playing sock hops and just about everything that came up. Their big break came when The Triumphs traveled to Cinncinatti to canvas King Records. King Records President Sid Nathan, immediately impressed, changed their name to The Mascots and signed them to his label. The Mascots' popularity grew as their songs could be heard with increased frequency on Cleveland radio stations. In 1969, The O'Jays signed with Philadelphia International Records where they released hit after hit and were propelled to stardom. The O'Jays later signed with EMI-Manhattan Records and Levert and Williams began co-writing and producing their own tracks. Their EMI debut album, “Let Me Touch You”, went to number three R&B and boasted "Lovin' You," the number one R&B hit from the summer 1987. In 1984, Eddie saw a proud moments as his sons Gerald and Sean, both still in high school, announced that they wanted to follow their dad's footsteps and make their way in the music industry. Eddie, using his influence, introduced his young sons around the industry while warning them that dad could help open the doors but it was themselves that would have to make it! And make it they did, as they teamed up with good friend Marc Gordon recording under the group name LeVert with four of their seven albums going platinum. In 1992 Eddie and son Gerald recorded "Baby Hold On to Me" which hit #1 R&B and #37 Pop on the charts. In 1995 Eddie and son Gerald recorded "Father & Son" Album with "Already Missing You" hit #7 R&B and #75 Pop on the charts. The album began the very successful 'Father and Son" tour that continues for years to come. In 1996 Eddie and son Gerald recorded "Wind Beneath My Wings" which hit #30 on the R&B charts. In 1998 The O'Jays receive the Rhythm & Blues Foundation's Pioneer Award presented by Eddie Levert's son Gerald at a ceremony in New York. In 2006, upon returning from a very successful South African tour with sons Gerald and Sean, tragedy struck as Eddie's son Gerald unexpectingly lost his life due to interactions between his prescribed medications. In 2007 Eddie and son Gerald's album recorded in 2006, "Something To Talk About" was released followed by the publication of the highly anticipated book "I Got Your Back" co-authored by Eddie and son Gerald. In 2008 tragedy struck again as Eddie's son Sean became a fatality of being denied needed prescription medication by government officials in Ohio. Later that year, while still trying to cope with the lost of both sons, Eddie and his late son Gerald are presented with "Best Duo or Group" Image Award. In 2009, The O'Jays were awarded BET's ‘Lifetime Achievement Award' and Eddie Levert was awarded the “Heroes and Legends Pacesetter Award”. On January 29, 2011 The O'Jays received the “Trumpet Lifetime Achievement Award”. Throughout Eddie Levert's career, the O'Jays have contributed 10 Gold Albums with 9 going Platinum and 10 #1 hits. Currently, Mr. Levert is actively performing and touring the world with the O'Jays well as performing as a solo artist currently touring with Johhny Gill, Keith Sweat and others.. In the Winter of 2011, Eddie Levert, Sr. completed his debut solo CD, “Eddie Levert: I Still Have It”, due to be released Spring of 2012. Mr. Levert is currently busy in the studio working on his next major project; the much anticipated release of the latest O'Jays CD. Throughout Eddie Levert's career, the O'Jays have contributed 10 Gold. Eddie Levert currently resides in Las Vegas, NV with his wife Raquel and daughter Ryan.

LEGENDARY MALE GROUP LEVERT II GEARS UP TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE “HEY LOVE” Get ready for the unique blend of retro-soul for the new generation combined with the old school classic beats that set the standard for true R&B music. Legendary male group LEVERT II is preparing to satisfy their longtime loyal fans with a new hit song “Hey Love” from their upcoming album “Dedication.” The single showcases the singers' renowned smooth vocal arrangements mixed with captivating instrumentals that spark the instincts of music enthusiasts. “Hey Love” will take both new and old fans into the future on its release date of Tuesday August 30, 2011. LEVERT ll is the new name of the legendary R&B trio LeVert. LEVERT II unites Marc Gordon, original founding member of LeVert, and new member Blaq Rose. Founded in the early 1980's, the legendary R&B trio LeVert originally comprised Gerald and Sean Levert, the sons of O'Jays founder Eddie Levert , and Marc. After signing to Atlantic Records, the powerhouse sensations quickly dominated the R&B scene and Billboard charts with popular hits such as “Casanova,” “Baby I'm Ready,” and “Addicted to You.” However, the men pursued solo careers about a decade later as Gerald rose to fame as a Grammy-winning artist, songwriter, and producer. The members of LeVert pursued a reunion in the mid-2000's, but tragedy struck with the death of Gerald in 2006 and the death of Sean a short two years later. This devastation motivated Marc to continue the project and honor the brothers' legacy. Now as he joins forces with Blaq Rose, LEVERT II has put the finishing touches on the project that they began with Sean.
