Jase offers a painfully funny account of a pre-dawn mishap that leaves his family jewels in serious jeopardy and the rest of the room somewhere between laughing and wincing. Al celebrates turning 61 and reflects on feeling healthier than ever—even as Jase's story proves that the margin for error gets slimmer with age. The guys lay out an overview of 1 John, as well as an account of John's remarkable life. They also dig into why the early church had to defend the truth that Jesus really appeared in the flesh, not as an idea or symbol, but as a living, tangible person. On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, Michael Reagan, the eldest adopted son of President Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman, passed away at age 80 in Los Angeles. He was a man of deep faith who overcame early issues to become an engaging and supportive figure, strongly defending his father, Ronald Reagan, and backing President Trump. He wasn't just the son of a president; he was a strong voice for conservative principles and a defender of the values that made this country great. Also, the military's operation that swiftly removed Nicholas Maduro from Caracas, without injuring any American soldiers, was spectacular. Democrats previously called for Maduro's removal but now criticize the action, raising questions of impeachment of President Trump and war crimes. There's a lack of national unity. In the past both parties would celebrate such an event and praise the president and military, but now Democrats oppose it while their militia protests in U.S. cities. The country is in deep trouble regardless of the president, as constitutional protections for free speech and association are exploited by these groups, now joined by a recurring Hitlerian wing of neo-fascists who celebrate Hitler and Stalin, obsessively trash Jews, evangelical Christians supporting Israel, and the U.S. itself, while promoting Islamism and Sharia law. Later, property rights are fundamental human rights, earned through intellectual and physical labor, reflecting one's limited time on earth to accumulate wealth for family. Slogans like Zohran Mamdani's "warmth of the community" mask an iron fist of centralized government that erodes individual rights and liberties, rejecting Enlightenment and Judeo-Christian values in favor of Islamism and Marxism, which are incompatible with America's founding. The collective dehumanizes individuals and diminishes their creations. Afterward, these ideologies, whether Islamist or Marxist are incompatible with Americanism, posing a survival threat rather than an affordability issue. Marxism has failed everywhere, yet it's not taught in schools, media, or by podcasters. Our generation—parents and grandparents—must reclaim the public square to shield children from brainwashing by these diabolical saboteurs, including the Democrat Party, historically hostile to American beliefs. Description:What if the most faithful thing we could do right now is simply pay attention? In this episode of For the Love, Jen and Amy sit down with theologian, ethics professor, and artist Lee C. Camp for a soulful conversation about the kind of faith that wakes us up to what truly matters. As part of our Wake Up Call series on faith, Lee invites us to slow down and notice the world—our lives, our neighbors, and the beauty that keeps trying to reach us. Together, they explore why paying attention is not a luxury but a spiritual practice—and how our obsession with productivity, planning, and certainty can cause us to miss the most beautiful and formative parts of our lives. Lee reflects on what it means to know ourselves as deeply beloved by God, not because of what we produce but because love is the starting point of a life well lived. This conversation traces the threads of human flourishing and imagination, and asks why beauty—found in art, nature, poetry, and story—often teaches us more about God than arguments ever could. As he often does on his own No Small Endeavor podcast, Lee challenges us to consider what Christians are being called to wake up to in this season: a renewed attention to community, to creation, and to a church that is something we practice together, not merely something we attend. If you're longing for a faith that feels grounded, spacious, and alive—one that helps you live a good life in the world you actually inhabit—this episode is a gentle, necessary wake-up call. Thought-provoking Quotes: “What Christianity most needs right now is to rediscover the basics of the beautiful story which we claim to believe.” – Lee C. Camp The model of the cross means that if we take up our cross and follow Christ, that we can expect difficulty because so much of human history doesn't want that kind of way. Religious powers don't want that. Imperialist powers don't want that. And so we can trust that we're going to have our own kind of crosses to bear along the way. And yet that life has triumphed over death. That love has triumphed over hatred. that beauty and truth and goodness has triumphed over hostility and ugliness and meanness. And so that's the big story.” – Lee C. Camp I deeply understand why a lot of people just can't believe all this [religious] stuff. But for me, it, the story at its best. is so beautiful that I don't know why everybody doesn't want to believe it, even if they can't believe it. It's this place we embody this narrative, embody this beauty, embody this brokenness in which we try to find tangible ways to do life together.” – Lee C. The new year began with a successful U.S. military operation to capture Venezuela's president. But the mission killed approximately 80 people and is being condemned by some American and international leaders as illegal. Esau McCaulley joins Phil and Skye this week to discuss the fallout from the operation. Was it legal? Was it moral? And what does it reveal about Trump's vision of America? Kaitlyn talks with author Sara Billups about her new book, "Nervous System," and how our age of anxiety is affecting Christians and the whole church. On today's Prison Pulpit, we start and finish with Venezuela, as my Venezuelan teammate writes in with four ways to pray for his country at this time of both joy and uncertainty. But the bulk of today's podcast is a story from my good friend Uncle Bundo about what happened in Thomson Prison on New Year's Day 2025. Let his testimony warm and encourage you to pray for all those believers who are in prison! (Scroll down for more notes...) I'm your China travel guide, Missionary Ben. Follow me on Twitter/X (@chinaadventures) where I present a new Chinese city or county to pray for every single day. Please send any questions or comments to a new, secure email: chinacompass@privacyport.com. Everything else can be found at PrayGiveGo.us! One last thing: I’m now set up on Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/c/chinacompass), which now only allows for donations, but also lets me sort podcast episodes into various collections, making it easier to find all the episodes on a certain topic or person, like Tibet, Pastor Wang Yi, or Richard Wurmbrand. (2:43) Venezuela no longer a prison: We have very close friends and teammates from Venezuela, so I understand the situation there better than most, however it dawned on me today that after the liberation of Venezuela from the dictator Maduro, I probably should have been praying for the people (Christians, especially) much more than I have. Their situation these past 10+ years especially has been very much akin to being in a prison cell. Hence, nearly ⅓ (8+ million) “escaped” during that time for survival’s sake. I may have more to say on a future podcast, but for now I want to point out that although we probably haven’t been praying for Venezuela as we ought to have done, I guarantee you that Venezuelan Christians (esp. those who had found freedom abroad) were quote “Remembering those in prison (back in Venezuela) as if they themselves were still bound with them”. In other words, they knew what it was like in that failed socialist state, and could pray as the author of Hebrews intended; not vague, faraway prayers, but knowledgeable, precise prayers as those who understood suffering and all that was at stake. For all those who prayed in such a way, whether Venezuelan refugees, concerned Christians around the world, or the Venezuelan people themselves, how awesome it is to see God so clearly answer prayer! (Note: with the current power vacuum there, we ought to continue to pray God would raise up humble, godly leadership during this dangerous transition time.) (7:26) Uncle Bundo’s New Year’s Prison Preaching Plan: In the summer of 2024, I interviewed a few of my friends who were being sentenced by the Biden DOJ for their participation in a peaceful prayer vigil while blocking the entrance to a (now shuttered) abortion clinic in Nashville back in 2021. Uncle Bundo was given 6 months in Federal Prison, which he served in rural Illinois. I share this by way of introduction, because I want to read you a story, a testimony, that Uncle Bundo shared on his Facebook page on New Year’s Day about what happened on LAST YEAR’S New Year’s Day. Sandra Teplinsky is an American-Israeli Messianic Jew, former attorney, and author based in Jerusalem. Raised on the South Side of Chicago, Sandra experienced antisemitism early in life—an upbringing that shaped both her faith journey and her long-term focus on helping the church understand Israel through a biblical lens. Through decades of study and ministry, she has written and updated Why Still Care About Israel to address common theological misconceptions, church-history blind spots, and the interpretive frameworks that still shape how many Christians think about Israel today. In this episode of The Wow Factor, Brad sits down with Sandra to explore why so many people are asking the wrong questions about Israel, and why the better starting point is, "Who is our God, and what is He doing?" Sandra shares a defining calling moment from her time in Los Angeles during the late Jesus Movement era, where she describes sensing Jesus' grief and love for the Jewish people. From there, the conversation moves into antisemitism, what it is, how it spreads, and how certain theological ideas can unintentionally fuel it. Sandra explains supersessionism (often called replacement theology), points listeners to Romans 9–11 as foundational, and describes why humility, repentance, and Scripture-led thinking matter as global hostility rises and Israel remains central in the news. "Israel is the apple of God's eye, whoever would harm Israel is like sticking a finger in the eye of God." – Sandra Teplinsky "The ultimate question isn't, 'Are you for this side or that side?' The ultimate question is: Who is our God?" – Sandra Teplinsky "Paul cautions Gentile believers: don't be arrogant… Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the fullness comes in." – Sandra Teplinsky This Week on The Wow Factor: How Brad met Sandra through a chaotic Israel trip—and why her book stood out immediately Sandra's childhood experience with antisemitism and how it shaped her pursuit of truth A working definition of antisemitism and why it's not only external behavior Sandra's Los Angeles calling moment and a lifelong focus on praying for Israel's salvation "Apple of His eye" and what spiritual blindness can look like in the church Why Israel is rarely taught clearly in many Western churches and seminaries The impact of church-history interpretation shifts on modern theology Supersessionism / replacement theology: what it is and why it matters Romans 9–11 as a framework for God's ongoing purposes for Israel End-times curiosity, modern Aliyah, and rising pressure on Jewish communities worldwide The story of "S" and how Scripture confronted hatred at the heart level Practical steps: humility, repentance, and asking the Holy Spirit to reveal wrong thinking Why blessing Israel can't just be transactional—and needs to be rooted in loving God Sandra Teplinsky's Word of Wisdom: Start with humility. Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart, and let Scripture interpret Scripture. Caring about Israel isn't meant to be a trend or an argument—it's about aligning with the heart and character of God and learning to love who He loves. As we grow in our faith, we aspire to be Christians who know what we believe. Our beliefs have stood the test of time. These truths have become deep convictions in our hearts. We know them to be true because God has revealed them to us in His Word and by His Spirit. Others may choose to believe other things, but we live with the deep assurance of the truths of God.Main Points:1. Let me ask you, “Do you have a deep conviction about the gospel of Jesus Christ? Are you thoroughly convinced the Word of God is true? Are you letting the scripture not only inform your life but also change your life?” 2. Our faith is anchored in the steadfast character of God. He does not change. His Word is forever true. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Generations come and go. Seasons come and go, but the Word of God is the same forever.3. You might be thinking, “Loren, why is it essential that we have a deep conviction about the Word of God?” It's so common today for people to express the idea that they are open-minded. As if this is a virtue. They don't want to seem dogmatic. They don't want to appear rigid in their thinking and beliefs. But this is exactly what our enemy wants. Without conviction, we are prey to false teaching, idolatry, and falling away. Today's Scripture Verses:1 Thessalonians 1:5 - “our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.”Romans 14:5 - “Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.” Romans 4:21 - “…fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group
Pastor Mike speaks on reading and studying the Bible, offering motivation and practical advice for both new and mature Christians. He provides three core motivations for study: the blessing of simply possessing an affordable Bible today, the Bible's unique nature as the divinely inspired Word of God that transforms believers, and the availability of numerous translations and tools like study Bibles. Mike also advises listeners to avoid "randomly opening" the Bible ("flipping") or reading too fast without understanding, and suggests the key strategies of "sinking sections" (dividing the Bible into its major parts, like Law, History, Poetry, Gospels, etc.) and understanding the different “genres” (like poetry, which uses parallelism). It's Wednesday, January 7th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Sudanese military killed 11 Christians Tragically, the military of Sudan killed a group of Christians on their way to church on Christmas morning last month. The Sudanese Armed Forces targeted the group with a drone strike, killing at least 11 Christians and injuring 18 more. A Christian attorney in the area told Morning Star News, “The church [building] was not hit, but a congregation who were marching in procession towards the church were targeted.” Sudan's military is in conflict with various rival forces in the country's ongoing civil war. Sadly, Christians are caught in the crossfire, facing increased attacks and violence in the Muslim-majority country. According to Open Doors, Sudan is the fifth most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. Canadian Christians upset: Quoting Bible can be “hate speech” Liberal lawmakers in Canada are trying to remove a religious exemption from the country's hate speech laws. Currently, people cannot be convicted of hate speech if they make a statement in “good faith” based “on belief in a religious text.” The Christian Institute warns that quoting the Bible could be criminalized as hate speech under the new proposal. Andrew Lawton, a conservative Member of Parliament from Ontario, commented, “[The Liberals] are prepared to mount … a full-scale assault on religious freedom.” Psalm 94:20-21 asks, “Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, have fellowship with [the Lord]? They gather together against the life of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.” Hegseth tours America's hypersonic weapons On Tuesday's Worldview newscast, we said, “The United States has yet to deploy its hypersonic technology -- it is still in the testing phase.” Upon closer examination, according to The War Zone, we can report that War Secretary Pete Hegseth recently toured the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama to examine America's long-range Dark Eagle hypersonic boost-glide vehicle weapon system. During his visit, Hegseth designated the installation as U.S. Space Command's new headquarters. The Army's Dark Eagle, also known as the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon, is a trailer-launched hypersonic boost-glide vehicle system that can travel long distances at hypersonic speeds, with velocities in excess of 3,800 miles per hour, while maneuvering erratically through Earth's atmosphere. This makes it an ideal weapon for striking high-priority and time-sensitive targets that are extremely well defended. It's the first true hypersonic weapon slated for frontline U.S. service. The same missile architecture is being adopted by the Navy for sea-launch under the Intermediate Range Conventional Prompt Strike weapon system. During a show-and-tell of Army missile systems, Lieutenant General Francisco Lozano, Director of Hypersonic, Directed Energy, Space and Rapid Acquisition, told Hegseth that Dark Eagle has a 2,100-mile range. Members of the media were also present at the event, which was captured on video by C-SPAN. Colorado must pay $5 million over trying to shut down pro-life clinic In the United States, Colorado must pay $5.4 million in a lawsuit involving a pro-life healthcare clinic. The state tried to ban abortion pill reversal and shut down a Denver-area pro-life clinic. Bella Health and Wellness fought back and won their case with the help of The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. Rebekah Ricketts, senior counsel at Becket, said, “At least 18 moms who received abortion pill reversal care at Bella just celebrated Christmas with babies born during this case. All Coloradans should celebrate those little miracles and the brave medical team at Bella that helped their moms when no one else would.” Vandal of J.D. We weren't even home as we had returned already to D.C.” Corporation for Public Broadcasting dissolves over Trump defunding The board of directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting voted Monday to dissolve the organization after losing federal funding. Congress created the nonprofit in 1967 to support public broadcasting in America. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has distributed hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars each year to public stations through National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting System. However, President Donald Trump has accused such outlets of spreading misinformation. In line with this, Congress defunded the Corporation for Public Broadcasting last summer. Republican Congressman of California died Tuesday House Republicans announced Tuesday that Rep. Doug LaMalfa of California died at the age of 65, reports the Western Journal. The announcement was shared in a statement posted by the official House Republicans X account. On January 5th, LaMalfa experienced a medical emergency at his home and was transported to a Chico, California hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. During the procedure, he experienced both a heart attack and an aneurysm, according to the Sacramento Bee. He died the following day at 3:20 a.m while still in surgery. LaMalfa was a fourth-generation rice farmer. U-Haul does well in red states, poorly in blue states U-Haul released its annual Growth Index for last year. More Americans vow to read entire Bible in 2026 And finally, CBN News reports that a growing number of Americans are committed to reading the entire Bible this year. Only an estimated 13-20% of Americans have completed the feat in the past. But that number is rising as Bible sales surged over the last year. Dr. Corné Bekker, Dean of Divinity at Regent University, has read the Bible several hundred times. Listen to his comments. BEKKER: “I do think increasingly our world is falling apart. The foundations of our society are being eroded at a record speed. Hey everybody, welcome back to The Smiling Homeschooler! We are kicking off our very first new show of the year. This is that time of year when everything just feels fresh again. Your brain gets a little reset, the stress of the holidays is gone, and it's a great chance to rethink the things that didn't work so well last semester. Maybe it's time to change a routine, toss some of the stuff that doesn't bring joy, or simplify a little. Co-ops are starting back up, routines are getting back in place, and before you know it, spring and summer will be here—whether you're ready or not! We will also be answering a listener's question and reading some of our listeners' highlights of 2025 and what they are looking forward to in 2026! It should be a fun and encouraging episode. Before we get started, we want to thank Teaching Textbooks for making The Smiling Homeschooler possible. They're an amazing math curriculum, and we encourage you to check them out at teachingtextbooks.com. We'd also like to thank Samaritan Ministries—a community of Christians who help one another with medical bills. They make it possible for families to take steps of faith, whether that's a career change, a ministry opportunity, or bringing mom home. Romans 10:1-21 — Doctrine and practice must not be separated. This seemingly simple truth has a great impact on how Christians live and seek to obey Christ. In this sermon on Romans 10:1–21 titled “Doctrine and Practice,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones expounds on the apostle Paul's doctrine of the Christian life in all its glory and weightiness. Out of the great truths of justification by faith, predestination, and perseverance comes a view of the life that is grounded in the person and work of Christ. Christians must seek to trust God and His providence. They must be faithful to the command to evangelize and seek to love their neighbors as themselves. They must also be aware of the danger to intellectualize Christianity at the expense of practice. Some say things such as, “If God is sovereign, why pray?” or “If God elects, why evangelize?” However, Dr. Lloyd-Jones warns not to try to use vain logic to understand God, but rather read Scripture faithfully and submit to all of God's teaching. How then does doctrine relate to practice? The answer is that doctrine informs how God desires His people to live as new creatures in Christ Jesus. “I've been fired from four churches in five years because weak men can't handle my masculinity.” Yep. That's a real tweet - and it's the perfect picture of what happens when men refuse to take responsibility for their own failures. In this episode, we break down why blame-shifting is destroying the credibility of Christian men, and why building a culture of accountability is essential if you want to lead your home, church, or community with integrity. If you want to be a man your family trusts, your church respects, and God can use—this is where it starts. How many Christians do not have the mind of Christ because they've been primed and played by propaganda? Mark and I fear to know the percentage of such believers would be frightening, and our hearts break to witness how many are openly turning against the Gospel because of propaganda. The show's outline runs thus: *A discussion of the American military's capture of Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro. *The kinds of propaganda used during COVID. *Defining propaganda. *How sheeple play into propaganda. *Church street-smarts? *Different methods of propaganda including: firehosing, selective presentation, emphasizing one lens, info blizzards, A.I. deep-fakes, dishonest framing, bandwagoning and its opposite of gaslighting, fearmongering, and normalization. For each of those kinds of propaganda we talk through examples and their power. Come think and laugh with us!

A piece of metal lands on a physicist's desk. The claim? It was recovered from a UFO crash site. Most scientists would laugh it off, but Dr. Matthew Szydagis takes it to his lab and fires up the spectrometer. Matthew is a unicorn in this space, a Christian experimental physicist who explores dark matter by day and tests alleged extraterrestrial materials on the side. He's worked with Nimitz witness Gary Voorhis, appeared on UFO documentaries, and catches flak from both atheist colleagues who mock his faith and Christians who think he's chasing demons. He doesn't care. His mission is simple: gather physical evidence, test it rigorously, and follow the truth wherever it leads. Here's what stopped us in our tracks. Matthew has watched multiple people convert to Christianity through UFO research, not because they decided the phenomenon was demonic, but because they came to believe in a Creator who filled the cosmos with physical beings. If Satan is orchestrating a grand deception, that's a spectacular failure. We get into why the "it's all demons" framework can't account for radar signatures and isotopic evidence, why the "vast distances make travel impossible" argument collapses under basic relativity, and why early church fathers like Augustine had zero problem with extraterrestrial life. Matthew also drops his controversial take on Bob Lazar and offers a wild hypothesis about why aliens might be staying silent. This is a physicist who believes in dark matter and the resurrection, and he's not apologizing for either. Buckle up, this conversation will stretch your categories and remind you that truth, both scientific and theological, is bigger than our comfort zones. In this episode of Unlocked, Savannah Chrisley sits down with Stephen McWhirter for a conversation that's raw, honest, and unexpectedly hopeful. Stephen opens up about growing up in a complicated faith environment, walking through addiction, anger, and deep family wounds, and the long road that eventually led him to sobriety, forgiveness, and healing.Together, they talk about what it really looks like to rebuild your life when trust has been broken, faith feels confusing, and the past won't stay quiet. Stephen shares his story without sugarcoating it, from hitting rock bottom to learning that redemption doesn't always come in neat, cinematic moments. Sometimes it's awkward. Sometimes it's painful. And sometimes it's choosing forgiveness even when it feels undeserved. This episode isn't about having it all figured out. It's about grace, second chances, and the idea that healing can be a lifelong process, not a single turning point. If you've ever wrestled with faith, family, addiction, or the weight of your own story, this conversation will likely stay with you long after it ends.Don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell to stay updated on all our latest episodes!Thank you to our sponsors for supporting our show!- QUINCE: Step into the holiday season with layers made to feel good, look polished, and last—with Quince. In this first session of "The Rise of the Nones" online class, I am joined by Ryan Burge, Tony Jones, and Sarah Lane Ritchie to introduce findings from the largest survey ever conducted on religiously unaffiliated Americans—over 15,000 participants. The research, funded by the John Templeton Foundation's Spiritual Yearning Research Initiative, used machine learning to identify four distinct categories of "Nones": NINOs (Nones In Name Only, who are actually quite religious), Spiritual But Not Religious (the largest group), the Disengaged (content secular individuals far from any religious or spiritual practice), and Zealous Secularists (a small but vocal group actively encouraging others to leave religion). The conversation explores what these categories reveal about American religious identity, why traditional survey methods may be undercounting Christians, and the surprising finding that many "happy atheists" report life satisfaction comparable to religious Americans. Join us for the remaining sessions of this class, where we'll dive deeper into each category with special guests—registration is donation-based, including $0, at www.AmericanNones.com. You can WATCH the conversation on YouTube Join us at Theology Beer Camp, October 8-10, in Kansas City! UPCOMING ONLINE CLASS: The Rise of the Nones One-third of Americans now claim no religious affiliation. That's 100 million people. But here's what most church leaders get wrong: they're not all the same. Some still believe in God. Some are actively searching. Some are quietly indifferent. Some think religion is harmful. Ryan Burge & Tony Jones have conducted the first large-scale survey of American "Nones", which reveals 4 distinct categories—each requiring a different approach. Understanding the difference could transform everything from your ministry to your own spiritual quest. Get info & join the donation-based class (including 0) here. This episode dives into the high-profile prophetic words for 2025 released by Cindy Jacobs and the Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders—and asks the hard question: what actually came to pass, and what didn't?In this Remnant Radio conversation, Joshua Lewis, Michael Rowntree, and Michael Miller walk through the major 2025 prophecies from Cindy Jacobs and ACPE, examining themes like national shaking, global conflict, economic turbulence, spiritual warfare, and calls to intercession and repentance. Using Scripture as the plumb line, they explore how Christians should approach national-level prophetic words, how to test them, and what it really means to practice prophetic accountability in the local church and the broader body of Christ. The guys discuss the tension between honoring prophetic ministry and refusing to give in to spiritual hype, asking honest questions about what to do when timing, details, or outcomes don't match what was proclaimed. If you care about Christian theology, charismatic gifts, and the future of prophetic ministry, this episode will help you think more clearly about modern prophecy, discernment, and integrity in the prophetic movement. Why did Daniel refuse the king's food in Daniel chapter 1? Was the Daniel Fast really about vegetables, or was something much deeper happening? In this episode of The 2KK Uncensored Podcast, Joe and Rachel take an honest, Scripture-first look at why Daniel ate the way he did in Daniel 1 — and why the modern version of the Daniel Fast often misses the biblical point entirely. Every year, especially in January, Christians search for answers about the Daniel Fast, what foods are allowed, whether it has to be plant-based, and how to "do it right." But when we slow down and read Daniel 1 in context, we discover the fast was not about food purity, dietary superiority, or earning righteousness. Daniel's food choice was about: Faithfulness in exile Identity in a pagan culture Obedience to God over cultural indulgence Drawing clear spiritual boundaries in Babylon In this episode, we unpack: Why Daniel refused the king's food and wine What the Daniel Fast was actually meant to accomplish How modern interpretations can unintentionally create legalism Why fasting was never supposed to be about food alone Whether someone eating keto or carnivore can still honor the heart of the Daniel Fast How focusing on intention, obedience, and discipline brings freedom instead of confusion This is an uncensored conversation about Scripture, faith, fasting, and health — without religious pressure, food guilt, or rule-based spirituality. Whether you follow keto, carnivore, low-carb, or are simply seeking biblical understanding, this episode reframes the Daniel Fast around the heart, not the plate. If you've ever wondered: "Am I doing the Daniel Fast wrong?" "Does fasting have to be plant-based?" "What does the Bible actually say about fasting?" “If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” (Mark 8:38 NLT) Today’s social media encourages people to stand up and be counted—to unapologetically announce and promote an agenda that they want to be associated with. Exactly what it is they stand for seems to be of secondary importance. I’m often amazed at the perverse, even horrendous, things people are willing to promote and defend. In contrast, many Christians seem to be embarrassed by the biblical truths that make them Christian. The followers of Christ have been entrusted with a life-changing—and world-changing—message. Yet many are ashamed by the gospel. They’re reluctant to share the words Jesus wants them to say. But the time has come for believers to speak boldly, regardless of the consequences. To stand up and be counted as Christ’s disciples—for the world’s sake and for their own. Jesus said, “If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels” (Mark 8:38 NLT). In the first century AD, the idea of Jesus dying on the cross was scandalous to Jewish people. The Greeks, who prided themselves on their cultural and intellectual attainments, thought the story of Jesus’ crucifixion was ridiculous. Yet the apostle Paul wrote, “So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense. But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God” (1 Corinthians 1:23–24 NLT). In today’s culture, many Christians struggle with Jesus’ words in John 14:6: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (NLT). The idea of Jesus being the only path to God bothers them. More to the point, the idea of telling others that Jesus is the only way to the Father—and the means for eternal life—bothers them. It’s safer to be inclusive and affirm the truth of all beliefs. But Jesus doesn’t give His followers that option. Are you ashamed of the simple message of the gospel? I hope not, because God’s righteousness is revealed in it. And that’s important. We all have our own sense of righteousness—our own opinions about right and wrong. But God’s righteousness is different from ours. It’s perfect. And it’s impossible to fulfill His righteousness apart from Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. So, it’s through the gospel, the Good News of Jesus, that the righteousness of God is revealed. Jesus’ followers have been entrusted with that Good News. And no amount of discomfort or embarrassment should keep us from sharing it. Reflection question: How do you handle your discomfort concerning certain difficult biblical truths—whether it’s in embracing them or sharing them with others? Islamist terrorists have killed at least 32 Christians since Christmas, and burned down hundreds of homes in the Adamawa, Kebbi, and Plateau states. Congressman asserts Nigerian Christians targeted for their faith On January 1st, Republican U.S. Congressman Riley Moore of West Virginia weighed in on X. He wrote, “If there were any remaining doubts that Christians in Nigeria are being targeted for their faith in Jesus Christ, this should end that debate. This isn't about land usage, ‘climate change,' or any other argument the Left wants to make. “This is persecution of our brothers and sisters for their faith in Christ, plain and simple. ISIS is telling Christians they have an opportunity to ‘spare their blood' if they convert. Our brothers and sisters will not bend the knee to anyone but our Lord and Savior.” Also, late last week, the Islamic-supported Allied Democratic Forces carried out a deadly nighttime incursion, killing at least 15 people in the Lubero territory of Congo, Africa. 20 Iranians have died in protests in 78 cities Iranian protests enter Day 9 where at least 20 people have died in the unrest. Protests have been cited in 78 cities across 26 provinces, reports Iran International. According to The Times on Sunday, Iran's Supreme Leader has a backup plan in place — to abscond to Russia should his security forces fail. North Korea shot hypersonic missiles Sunday North Korea successfully fired off several hypersonic missiles on Sunday, connecting with targets 700 miles away in Korea's East Sea. North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un called it a “very important strategic task to maintain and expand a powerful and reliable nuclear deterrent.” Back in 2019, China deployed hypersonic technology. But the United States has yet to deploy its hypersonic technology — it is still in the testing phase. Number of foreigners in Austria, Belgium and UK skyrocketing Remix News reports that over 41% of the population of Vienna, Austria's capital, is foreign born. And 50 percent of first-graders do not understand German. Also, Muslim students now account for 41.2 percent of all elementary school students, while Christian students fell to 34.5 percent. Plus, Austria, Belgium, and the United Kingdom have the highest percentages of babies born to immigrants — above 30%. Venezuelan dictator and wife plead not guilty The Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, both arrested by the U.S. government over the weekend, appeared in a New York City Court Monday to face charges of narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy. and weapons offenses. They entered pleas of innocence to the charges. Psalm 37:9 is clear: “Evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the Earth.” China financed $60 billion loans to Venezuela Come to find out China has been a major player in Venezuela since 2000. The Council on Foreign Relations reports that Venezuela ate up $60 billion of Chinese loans accounting for fully half of all the money that China loaned to South America over the years. And China has been taking in about 80% of Venezuelan oil exports of late. Rubio objects to Iran, China, & Russia propping up Venezuela Appearing on NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio objected to America's enemies propping up Venezuela in America's backyard. Listen. RUBIO: “We don't need Venezuela's oil. We have plenty of oil in the United States. What we're not going to allow is for the oil industry in Venezuela to be controlled by adversaries of the United States. You have to understand. Why does China need their oil? Why does Russia need their oil? Why does Iran need their oil? They're not even in this continent. “This is the Western Hemisphere. This is where we live, and we're not going to allow the western hemisphere to be a base of operation for adversaries, competitors and rivals of the United States. We want to see the oil proceeds of that country benefit the people of Venezuela. “Why have 8 million people left Venezuela? Eight million: the single largest mass migration probably in modern history, left Venezuela in 2014 because all the wealth of that country was stolen to the benefit of Maduro and his cronies in the regime, but not to the benefit of people of Venezuela. You know how destabilizing 8 million migrants is? “The number one fear that Brazil has, that Colombia has, that all these countries in the region have about what's happening in Venezuela and our involvement is they're afraid of another mass migration event. That's what they feel. This is deeply destabilizing stuff. ”It's not going to continue to happen. They are not going to come from outside of our hemisphere, destabilize our region in our own backyard, and us have to pay the price for it, not under President Trump.” Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Mexico, Uruguay & Spain upset about Maduro The governments of Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay and Spain have issued a statement airing their disagreement with the U.S. military actions taken against Venezuela over the weekend. The statement appealed to what they called the “principles of the United Nations Charter.” Trump upset that drug cartels are running Mexico and Columbia President Donald Trump has also told the U.S. press that something has to be done with Mexico. He told Fox News that the drug cartels are running the country. Plus, he called Columbia a “sick country” run by a “sick” president who “likes to sell Cocaine to the United States.” Trump said he's not going to be doing this very long. And the president said, “Cuba is ready to fall” as well. But let us all remember Who rules. Psalm 22:28-29 says, “For the kingdom is the Lord's, and He rules over the nations. All the prosperous of the Earth shall eat and worship; all those who go down to the dust shall bow before Him, even he who cannot keep himself alive.” Dallas street preachers handcuffed and detained without cause Here in America, street preachers connected with a “Reformed Baptist evangelistic ministry, [Testimonies of God], committed to the supremacy of Scripture and the advancement of Christ's Gospel,” were handcuffed and detained by police officers in Dallas a few weeks ago. The Christian Post reports that an officer had required the evangelists to get off the public sidewalk and cross the street — an order the preachers believed was unlawful. So far, no charges have been filed in the case. 15 states still allow trans surgeries and drugs for kids Two hospitals in left-wing Colorado have decided to stop writing prescriptions for sex-change drugs for children, reports 9-News. Romans 9:1-33 — In this sermon on Romans 9:1–33 titled “Learning the Lesson,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones gives a bird's eye view of the entire chapter to show what can be learned. He says that contrary to what many believe, the Old Testament is not done away with or made obsolete for Christians. This can be known because the apostle Paul uses many Old Testament references and examples to explain the nature of the church, the Christian life, and salvation in Christ. Just as God chose the people in Israel in the Old Testament and passed by others, so also in the New Testament God calls out a people, the church, for His own purposes. Paul explains that being a Jew does not mean that one is a Christian, for not all who are born of Israel are true Israel. It is only those that God calls that are truly the children of God. This sermon presents many of the hard truths of Scripture, but it also shows how these hard truths are some of the most comforting. All of God's truth is good news for those that love Him and who have put their trust in Jesus Christ. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/603/29?v=20251111
The opening chapter of John's Gospel says that Jesus “came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe” (1:9), and Jesus himself said he came “to seek out and save the lost” (Luke 19:10). It's a good reminder that every Christian's mission should be to introduce as many unbelievers as possible to Jesus. The overwhelming majority of non-Christians are closer to Christ than you might think, and all it takes is one real encounter with Jesus to change everything. In this series we'll explore four unique conversations that Jesus had with everyday people - a young fisherman, a middle-aged mother, a religious elder, and a woman with a sordid past - and we'll see how one interaction with Jesus can change a life forever.
