Trump’s Sharpie must be hot to the touch! Stigall unpacks all the new orders flying right and left from the Oval Office. Two important ones among them - vanquishing all government DEI employees and demanding all health related agencies (FDA, CDC, NIH, etc.) cease any announcements, warnings, or advisories until the administration can review them. These moves are designed to keep the bureaucrats who hijacked Trump’s first term from striking again. Julie Kelly returns to discuss the pardoning of J6ers and Daniel Turner from Power the Future discusses Trump’s glorious move on Big Wind.-For more info visit the official website: https://chrisstigall.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/chrisstigallshow/Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisStigallFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/chris.stigall/Listen on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/StigallPodListen on Apple Podcasts: https://bit.ly/StigallShow-Global Coin, for exclusive listener offers go to www.shopglobalcoin.com/pages/stigall or call 1-888-560-3125.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Why should you pay taxes? Probably not for the programs outlined in Rand Paul's annual “Festivus” report. Examples: Your government used millions of your hard-earned $$ to study whether methamphetamine disrupts the sleep habits of monkeys and to funnel $$ to Russian scientists to research the effects of snipping the brain stems of cats, then forcing them to exercise on treadmills. The animal abuse alone is outrageous. More broadly, we deserve a refund. Jacki proposed (to the Speaker of the House and others) that anyone making less than 50K should be exempt from federal tax, if for no other reason than to make working more attractive than welfare. (Separately, what would we do without Rand Paul?) - - - - - Daniel Turner of Power the Future tells the true story of how fossil fuels prolonged his father's life after a heart attack. He also details how they have almost certainly saved your life. - - - - - Texas weather is sure to bring more emergency conservation alerts from state regulators since Texas is the only state with its own grid and has made massive mistakes, transitioning from fossil fuels and nuclear that produce over 90% of the time to renewables that produce only 30% of the time – on a good day - causing life-threatening energy scarcity. - - - - - We share focus group results which show that Americans are supportive of fossil fuels, prefer ours to petro-state dictators, and believe energy is far too expensive, yet at the same time do not know that renewables mean sky-high costs and dependence on hostile foreign supply chains. - - - - - The Osage tribe just succeeded in getting a federal judge to rule that 84 wind energy turbines run by a foreign company (so much wind energy is) in Oklahoma must come down because they infringe on the tribe's sovereignty and destroy their sacred birds, such as protected eagle species. This is one of many stories in a tide now turning against wind energy.

As always, I'm happy to welcome you back for another foray into the wilderness to capture the best northern Michigan offers. This week, we are once again on the banks of Otter Creek at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore to record the sound of a big wind as it blows in from Lake Michigan. How windy was it today? So windy that Otter Creek was flowing backwards! This wasn't the original location for today's recording, but it turned out to be the best location. I really love the sound of the intense wind. It's not only a reminder of the power of nature, but a chance to get lost in the wind's sound blowing through the trees with no other sounds to get in its way. It was a whirlwind of activity to get this episode recorded. I received feedback (very good feedback) that I sometimes take too long to get to the point. I know it but I like to write so I put all the really important stuff at the top this week. Is closure a myth? Do we have to be emotionally open with ALL the people we know? What is a healthy amount of acceptance? These are the questions that Big Wind, Dalia, Julia, Kiam and I talked about navigating.  I think we all ask these questions when trying to trust after harm and experiencing grief.  What we don't always talk about is how very human and natural these experiences and thoughts are.Big Wind(they/them) was born at the headwaters of the Missouri River to A Northern Arapaho mother and Gros Ventre father in Great Falls, Montana. Big Wind was raised on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming and enjoys being outdoors, hiking, and swimming in the nearest water way. As a Indigenous Two Spirit, they believe in the art of balancing both masculine and feminine energies, and how taping into that power, can lead to a more balanced approach to accountability and transformative justice. Dalia Kinsey(no pronouns) is a Registered Dietitian and creator of the Body Liberation for All podcast, a show dedicated to amplifying the health and happiness of LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC folx. On a mission to spread joy, reduce suffering, and eliminate health disparities in the QTBIPOC community, Dalia rejects diet culture (which is rooted in white supremacy) and teaches folks how to use nutrition as a self-care and personal empowerment tool.Julia Mallory(she/they) is a storyteller and grief worker working with a range of mediums from text to textiles. On May 5, commissioners in Crawford County, Ohio voted to ban wind project development in all unincorporated areas of the county and puts the kibosh on a proposed 300-megawatt project being promoted by Apex Clean Energy. The move marks the 330th time that wind energy has been rejected or restricted in the U.S. since 2015. The vote matters because Big Wind is currently lobbying in Washington for another extension of the production tax credit, the most-expensive energy-related provision in the federal tax code. I also read parts of an article published in the Bucyrus Telegraph-Forum about the vote and why one opponent said “We're a farming community and we want to promote farming, not wind turbines.”

"Rural America gets bad vibrations from Big Wind," Robert Bryce wrote recently in the Wall Street Journal. He notes that President Joe Biden's administration is pushing for "tens of thousands of wind turbines," but asks, "where, exactly, will all those turbines be built?" It's a good question. Many Americans, even those who support the concept of wind energy, may not realize just how thoroughly we will need to carpet-bomb our landscape with wind turbines to reach some of the goals set for wind production. Remember, too, that all those turbines will also need to be serviced by transmission lines to carry that energy to market. While a coal plant or a nuclear plant generally sits in one location, wind turbines are dispersed across the landscape, and the transmission lines that serve them end up covering a lot of ground. Bryce, who has authored a report on this problem for the Center of the American Experiment, a Minnesota-based think tank, joins this episode of Plain Talk Live to talk about wind turbines and the challenges of not-in-my-back-yard attitudes. You can read Bryce's WSJ article here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/rural-am... You can read his report for the Center of the American Experiment here: https://files.americanexperiment.org/...

Show #648   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Thursday 21st November 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   WHAT TO EXPECT FROM TESLA’S CYBERTRUCK PICKUP TRUCK EVENT "Unlike, say, the Model Y reveal earlier this year, Musk has played this one somewhat close to the chest." reports The Verge: "Yes, Musk has said he drew inspiration from Blade Runner in designing the truck. It’s also called (or at least codenamed) “Cybertruck,” with an appropriately science-fiction-style, vowel-dropped logo to boot. We have a rough idea of some specs that will be offered. And we know he wants to combine Porsche-level performance with utility that makes a Ford F-150 look like a Tonka truck. As for what it looks like, though, everyone is still in the dark. Like, literally — Tesla has only released a few really murky teaser images for the truck. One thing to look for on Thursday is whether Tesla will make versions of the truck with bigger cabs or wildly different trim levels."   https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/20/20973789/tesla-cybertruck-announcement-rumors-specs-what-to-expect-elon-musk   2020 MERCEDES EQC PRICING ANNOUNCED "Mercedes EQC is fashionably late to the U.S. market where it’s scheduled to go on sale early next year" says Motor1.com: "We reviewed the first electric Mercedes to be sold under the EQ brand back in May when it had an estimated starting price of $75,000, but it turns out the EQC is more attainable than initially thought. At the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, Mercedes is announcing the 2020 EQC 400 4Matic carries a starting price of $67,900 MSRP, excluding the $995 destination and delivery charge. It means the zero-emissions crossover undercuts both the $74,800 Audi E-Tron and the $69,500 Jaguar I-Pace. As for the Model X, Tesla dropped the standard version a few months ago and that means pricing currently kicks off at $84,990 for the Long Range model. It’s worth mentioning the EQC will also have to do battle with the BMW iX3 scheduled for a release next year as a fully electric version of the X3."   https://www.motor1.com/news/383372/2020-mercedes-eqc-pricing-revealed/   VOLKSWAGEN E-UP PRICE IN CZECH REPUBLIC IS SURPRISING "Only available in one trim level, the Volkswagen e-up has a starting price of 449.900 CZK (17.623 euros) in Czech Republic. This is actually a surprise since it’s cheaper than its sibling Škoda CITIGOe iV." writes Pedro at PushEVs: "The new Volkswagen e-up has a 61 kW motor powered by a 36,8 kWh battery – of which 32,3 kWh are usable – and a WLTP range of 260 km (162 miles). Moreover, it has a 7,2 kW on-board charger and supports DC fast charging via CCS (40 kW). This price includes VAT (21 %) and no government subsidy, since in Czech Republic there isn’t one."   https://pushevs.com/2019/11/20/volkswagen-e-up-price-in-czech-republic-is-surprising/   SKODA CITIGO IV PRICED FROM £20,455 IN UK A new era in SKODA history is about to begin with the arrival of the new CITIGO iV. The brand’s first fully-electric production car will power into the UK early next year with prices starting from just £20,455 before Government Plug-in Car Grant (PICG) discount of £3,500 is applied. The CITIGO iV line-up starts with the SE model, which is priced at £20,455 The higher-specification SE L model is priced from £22,815 and adds a raft of additional equipment, including 16-inch alloy wheels, ambient lighting, comfort pack (heated front seats and rear parking sensors) and body coloured door mirrors and handles. The SE L model also comes with CCS charging capability that allows for rapid charging via 40kW charging stations.   2020 TESLA MODEL S AND MODEL X STANDARD RANGE SHOW UP ON EPA SITE "According to the EPA's website, there may exist a 2020 Tesla Model S Standard Range, as well as a Model X Standard Range. As we were checking the website for range figures, we came across these two new models. " says InsideEVs: "The Model S Standard Range shows a total range of 287 miles, and the Model X Standard Range is rated at 258 miles. It's important to note that just because a vehicle shows up on the EPA fuel economy website doesn't mean it's available. However, it could mean it's going to eventually be available."    NIKOLA CORP. CLAIMS 'GAME-CHANGING' BATTERY ADVANCEMENTS "Nikola Corp., the upstart manufacturer of zero-emission heavy trucks and other vehicles, claims to have achieved "game-changing" advancements in battery-cell technology that will enable its hydrogen-electric trucks to drive farther between charges for lower cost and with reduced environmental impact." reports USA Today: "After 800 cycles or charges, a conventional lithium-ion battery will be degraded, Trevor Milton, Nikola's CEO and founder, said in an interview Tuesday. But the company's newly developed battery can hit 2,000 cycles, which translates to about 1 million truck miles driven over seven to eight years of typical use, he said."   https://eu.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2019/11/20/electric-truck-company-nikola-corp-battery-technology-advancements/4247030002/   VOLKSWAGEN SAYS EV TIPPING POINT IS IN SIGHT Bradley from Electrek has been at the L.A. Auto Show: "Matthew Renna, Volkswagen’s vice president of e-mobility, told us that the pieces of the company’s EV strategy are coming together. When that happens, Renna said, “You would have to be crazy not to buy an electric car.” While Renna didn’t pinpoint the exact timing, he said, “We have a line of sight to the tipping point.”"   Renna said: "When people see a compelling product that combines, of course, the range, the charging capabilities, and the price, combined with the technology and the external factors like dealerships and infrastructure, when all those things hit, then you have to be crazy not to buy an EV. That’s the day we’re all waiting for, and we push on every one of those things every day."   And if you're impressed with him not sounding like the old auto makers: "Renna previously served for five years as the program manager for the Tesla Model S and Model X."   https://electrek.co/2019/11/20/la-auto-show-volkswagen-says-ev-tipping-point-is-in-sight/   NEW JERSEY MORE THAN DOUBLES OFFSHORE WIND TARGET TO 7.5 GIGAWATTS BY 2035 "New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed an Executive Order this week enshrining an increase to the state’s offshore wind energy target, increasing it from 3,500 megawatts (MW) by 2030 to 7,500 MW by 2035." according to CleanTechnica: "The goal is part of the state’s larger renewable energy target of securing 50% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% clean energy by 2050."   Governor Murphy said: "When we reach our goal of 7,500 megawatts, New Jersey’s offshore wind infrastructure will generate electricity to power more than 3.2 million homes and meet fifty percent of our state’s electric power need. Our offshore wind industry will generate billions of dollars in investments in New Jersey’s future, that will, in turn, create thousands of jobs. We have an immense opportunity to maximize our potential and make this region – and, specifically New Jersey – the nexus of the global offshore wind industry.”   https://cleantechnica.com/2019/11/20/new-jersey-more-than-doubles-offshore-wind-target-to-7-5-gigawatts-by-2035/     QUESTION OF THE WEEK The MYEV.com Question Of The Week…   "If you were marketing a for an new EV brand (or Tesla) how would you do it?”   I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the 251 patrons of this podcast whose generosity means I get to keep making this show, which aims to entertain and inform thousands of listeners every day about a brighter future. Tracing the footsteps of Irish emigrants to Newfoundland In our latest Documentary on Newstalk, International award-winning Producer Nuala Macklin, travels to Newfoundland, the most North Easterly point in North America, to trace the footsteps of Irish emigrants who set out from Waterford in the early 18th century to make their fortunes…IN:Big Wind - Big Sea - Big Welcome BROADCAST DATES:  Big Wind - Big Sea - Big Welcome will air on Newstalk 106-108FM on Sunday February 17th at 7am, Repeated Saturday February 23rd at 9pm. Our Newfoundland - Ireland connection can be traced back as far as 1715; long before the Great Famine had ever touched our lands. Thousands of young Irish boys and men embarked on the often treacherous Atlantic crossing from 'The Port of Waterford' to St, John's Harbour in Newfoundland. The big lure was seasonal work in Newfoundland's prosperous cod-fishing industry. Taking their Irish cultural blueprint with them, eventually, many of these Irish began to settle in this harsh but rewarding environment - creating what is often regarded as 'Ireland's 33rd county'. This little patch of Ireland and its heritage, exists along the Avalon Peninsula to this very day. For more than 50 years now, the passionate and tireless efforts of Galway man, Professor John Mannion (St. John's Memorial University) and his Kildare-born wife Maura, have created a phenomenal legacy for Ireland and the Newfoundland Irish. They've compiled an archive which contains over 80,000 handwritten documents which traces the paths of every Irish soul who emigrated to Newfoundland and their Irish roots since 1750. Known as 'The Mannion Papers', this unique archive means that every Newfoundland inhabitant of Irish decent, can trace their roots right back to the parish and burial spot in Waterford, Tipperary, Carlow and surrounds going back as far as 1715 from whence their ancestors embarked. In her usual colourful style, international award-winning Producer, Nuala Macklin, explores the fascinating history, similarities and contrasts which exist between the two places (Ireland & Newfoundland). With its exceptional line-up of interviewees and other magical elements, this deeply emotional, entertaining and highly informative audio excursion, preserves a precious, beautiful and vital part of our Irish heritage. BROADCAST DATES:  Big Wind - Big Sea - Big Welcome will air on Newstalk 106-108FM on Sunday February 17th at 7am, Repeated Saturday February 23rd at 9pm. Owing to their impact on human affairs, weather occurrences of all sorts were a source of preoccupation for our forebears, who would look to the natural world around in the hope of interpreting and predicting these climactic manifestations. Explanations given to account for sudden gusts of wind and storms in many instances made reference to supernatural forces; to the powers of the fairies, of witches, wizards, the clergy and even freemasons. In this edition of Blúiríní Béaloidis, hosts Jonny Dillon and Claire Doohan explore traditional beliefs regarding wind and storms in folk tradition; from the varying methods utilised by sailors in order to raise and control the wind to aid them on their journeys, to those curses and magical practices used by witches to bring revenge to against those who had wronged them, and the historic accounts in which such attacks were attributed to particular individuals. From storm-inducting stone effigies to magical basins of water, join Claire and Jonny as they invoke the powers of the air! (English Translation) There was power in the storm that escaped last night, last night on Women’s Christmas, from the desolate madhouse behind the moon and screamed through the sky at us, lunatic, making neighbours’ gates screech like geese and the hoarse river roar like a bull, quenching my candle like a blow to the mouth that sparks a quick flash of rage. I’d like if that storm would come again, a night I’d be feeling weak coming home from the dance of life and the light of sin dwindling, that every moment be full of the screaming sky, that the world be a storm of screams, and I wouldn’t hear the silence coming over me, the car’s engine come to a stop.

This BZE Radio episode was broadcast on Monday 23rd October 2017 “Every parrot in the pet shop is talking about Energy Policy” ACCCBut for a summit , a lot of voices were absent. Big Wind, Big Solar and the growing movement of citizens, intellectuals and NGO’s demanding the rapid energy descent away from coal oil and gas. The chiefs who supply us with over 80% of our dirty energy were there as the clean energy target was swallowed up and the National Energy Guarantee emerged. The NEG requires Energy Retailers to give a guarantee of reliability. They will need to contract or own a certain amount of dispatchable power. As more coal fired power stations close, this could mean they invest in pumped hydro storage , batteries or gas turbines. In a heatwave when all the air conditioners go on, pumped hydro storage can turn on in 20 seconds and batteries in 1 second, according to Professor Andrew Blakers ANU.  He says 20 or 30 of the 22,000 possible sites need to be developed for pumped hydro storage and they can be built quickly, but none of this was discussed at the summit. The NEG also requires retailers to guarantee electricity with a set level of emissions intensity. The amount will be reduced each year. The emissions from gas were hardly mentioned. Does this mean the responsibility for our Paris Commitments is in the hands of retailers? Many of the people we interview say that we need a carbon tax to cut emissions in every sector and it was clear at the summit that even business leaders who had opposed this in the past were now demanding any sort of policy framework as long as it could survive short term governments. Mark Butler said  “At the end of the day companies will start contracting and trading with each other and a price will emerge on that which reflects the carbon obligation”.Comments that the RET was a subsidy to renewables ,that all subsidies are out and we now have a level playing field might bamboozle some people. But until all subsidies to fossil fuels are removed and Dr Finkel’s recommendation that we have an Economy Wide Plan by 2020 to map out the energy descent away from fossils, we are expected to trust to the market. We hear fromChief Scientist Dr Allan Finkel Environment and Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg Opposition leader Bill Shorten ACOSS head Cassandra Goldie National Farmers Federation  leader Fiona Simpson. Further Reading:https://reneweconomy.com.au/kidston-pumped-hydro-storage-capacity-boosted-25-24533/ http://reneweconomy.com.au/investor-confidence-could-be-smashed-without-additional-detail-62884/   22 Oct 2017|Categories: Community Show

The fall of the great forests of Ireland provided James Joyce with a rich literary trope laden with cultural memory and socio-political resonances, which he utilized throughout his works and most fully in Finnegans Wake. The trope taps into a chain of historical events well-rehearsed by nationalist rhetoric and thus it is compatible with Joyce's innovative utilisation of repeated motifs with multiple textual resonances.

Mike Bond writes socially-conscious thrillers inspired by his real-life experiences.  His Aloha State thriller, SAVING PARADISE (Mandevilla Press) played a role in stopping the Big Wind and the Inter-island Cable Project in Hawaii. This project would have destroyed major parts of Molokai, Lanai and Maui.  In addition to drastic environmental and social effects on all three islands, it would have had a catastrophic impact on whales, dolphins and other ocean species including endangered monk seals and turtles. Bond, a Maine native, has also been active in Maine environmental issues, creating http://savingmaine.org/ to raise awareness about the potential dangers industrial wind development might pose to Maine's environment. Mike Bond is a bestselling novelist, environmental activist, war and human rights correspondent and award-winning poet who has worked in many remote, dangerous parts of the world. His critically acclaimed novels depict the innate hunger of the human heart for what is good, the intense joys of love, the terror and fury of battle, the sinister conspiracies of international politics and multinational corporations, and the beauty of the vanishing natural world.
