If you're a healthcare provider in the physical medicine space, your body is one "tool of the trade" that you use more than any other in your practice.  Whether you're performing joint manipulations, soft tissue treatments, needling or using any variety of treatment modalities, your physical ability to perform is the common denominator. And while there is no shortage of courses that can teach you about various techniques and treatments, there is very little attention given to the biomechanics and ergonomics involved with preserving the physical health of the provider administering care.In this two part series with Dr. Ti Pence, titled Body Mechanics and Beyond: Crafting a Sustainable Manual Therapy Practice, we will discuss the importance of alignment and conservative force generation techniques when performing joint manipulation.  Key Themes in Today's Episode: Important "red flag" mistakes that can quickly lead to overuse injuriesHow to avoid the most common injuries within the first five years of practiceTechniques and positioning that place unnecessary strain on the body The practical and somewhat unconventional rule to measure the effectiveness of body mechanicsLeave us a review or submit a Question for Dr. Pence here: https://tinyurl.com/podcast87-reviewsQADownload the Accompanying PDF Guide today's Episode Here: https://tinyurl.com/podcast87-PDFLearn more about new certification in Rehab, Clinical Nutrition, Dry Needling, Acupuncture and more here: https://tinyurl.com/podcast87-certs

Join Wes Tankersley on this episode of Shaping Success as he talks with Brandon Miller about his affirmations for success as a muscle specialist and a baseball coach.Brandon talks about his path to success from a Division 1 athlete to getting his Masters in Body Mechanics and working with professional athletes for the first 7 years of his career. He and his business partner have had their own exercise and therapy business for the past 22 years. His area of expertise is in the physics of exercise. He and his business partner work with Muscle Activation Technique (MAT) and Biomechanics and have been for 12 years. Brandon works with the science of exercise and therapy versus the subjective part of it, ie how the clients feel.  For example, if a client is still feeling pain, he needs other parameters to judge if he's doing his job and being worthwhile to his client. Brandon describes pain as the “check engine light” that lets someone know something is wrong. However, the pain one is feeling may not be coming directly from the source. Our society is “treat my symptom,” but Brandon's affirmation for success is what is causing the symptom? What led to that pain or injury? Figuring that out will fix the problem.Brandon is also a baseball coach that teaches his players mindset for achievement. He believes mindset will lead to success on the baseball field. He teaches his players about self-talk and the importance of positive self-talk. He asks them what are you telling yourself that you are not willing to tell others? With his players he discusses soft talk and how to talk better for better mindset and language.  Goal setting is an important part of his coaching. He has the players set a goal and plan how to get there. If they have goals that seem unrealistic, he will have them create a timeline on when to reach that goal or ask them to set a goal for this year. An important factor for success and happiness that he teaches these kids is “you don't always get what you earn.” There are other factors to consider that are out of their control. He tells them to work hard to do the best that they can do. The only way to fail is not learning from the negative experience. As long as you learn something, it is not a fail.Brandon's story of success is getting to know his players as a whole person and emphasizes the importance of communication. After all, sports can be used in all aspects of life. #shapingsuccess #westankersley #swc #defineyourownsuccess #motivationmindset #successcoachCheck out our sponsor The Warriors Collection for coffee, gear and more use code TANK at check out for a special Discount! https://warriorscollectionbrand.com/ Check out our sponsor Tattooed and Successful @tattoedandsuccessfulco use code TANK at check out for a special Discount! https://tattooedandsuccessful.com/Support the showFor merchandise, podcast and youtube: westankersley.com Check out our sponsor The Warriors Collection for coffee, gear and more use code TANK at check out for a special Discount! https://warriorscollectionbrand.com/ Follow Shaping Success https://shapingsuccesspodcast.buzzsprout.com/ Email Wes@westankersley.com for guest ideas or to be on the show!

Quantum Quote: “When we talk about people who are concerned about the environment and look at the macro scale of what's happening in the world, it can really make you a little bit crazy. The only way to really deal with that is to start within, make your own small impact, and know that you've done your part.” Today, we explore how one family made the transition in their single-family home in a suburb just outside of New York City.  Sung Pak is an American immigrant success story. Sung is a renowned functional neural mechanic specialist, better known as a brain trainer. He trains the brain to create movement efficiency and control pain, helping people with neurological illnesses like Parkinson's improve their lives and training athletes to achieve peak performance.  Sung's resiliency philosophy extends to his family's efforts to have an impact on climate change by starting at home. Sung shares his family story about why they move to solar electricity and geothermal heating and cooling and how they saved money doing it.    Sign up for the AWESome EarthKind™ Clean Energy Master Class to discover 3 simple actions you can take to start saving money and make the world a better place - without having to learn complex technology   Supernova 1: Even a family living on a small property in a New York City Suburb can get solar and geothermal to dramatically reduce their environmental impact and save money.
