And as a result, he became an expert in making beautiful and delicious chocolates, and people started asking him to sell them. And that's precisely what he's been doing! MAX & Friends with #MaxTucci Imagine: Reflections On PeaceWhat does Peace mean to you?Have you grown up in a war environment? Is Peace really Possible? What are ways you imagine Peace? With Guests:Author, Photographer, Journalist Gary Knight his book Imagine: Reflections On Peace &Max's Mother Gina Tucci join Max to discuss war and peace! About the book:When battlefield prowess and political manipulation are not enough to achieve peace through victory, we summon our best and brightest to negotiate an end; we celebrate peace settlements; and we give prizes, if not to victors, then to visionaries. We exalt peace as a human achievement, and justly so. But the reality of peace is flawed. The rewards of peace are elusive for the men and women who live in the post-conflict societies of our time. Why is it so difficult to make a good peace when it is so easy to imagine? That is the question behind Imagine: Reflections on Peace. In this stunning collection, photographic essays make grippingly palpable the stakes during war and peace. #SamanthaPower, former US Ambassador to the United Nations, Justice #RichardGoldstone, and #JonathanPowell, chief negotiator for the Northern Ireland Good Friday agreement, are joined by world-renown writers in revealing the complexities of redemption and rebuilding in #Bosnia and #Herzegovina, #Cambodia, #Colombia, #Lebanon, #NorthernIreland, and #Rwanda. We hear first person accounts of survival and the search for inner peace, bringing the big picture to a personal level. With added insights from scholars and practitioners, the book offers a rare and fascinating glimpse into the unvarnished story of peace and a window into what it takes for societies and individuals to move forward after unspeakable brutality.#MaxTucci #War #radioshow #interview #podcast #podcastlife #podcaster #podcasting #awardwinningpodcast #warphotography #photography#photographer #Lithuania #WWII#peacetalks #GinaTucci
How do you imagine hope in a seemingly hopeless situation? And once that hope is imagined, how do you manifest those dreams into a sustained reality? These are the questions at the heart of IMAGINE: REFLECTIONS ON PEACE (Hemeria/SparkPress, October 6, 2020) by The VII Foundation (VIIF). Editor and VIIF co-founder, GARY KNIGHT, shares the remarkable collection of first-person testimonials and searing photographs from some of the world’s most volatile war zones. IMAGINE focuses on six distinct countries—Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Colombia, Lebanon, Northern Ireland, and Rwanda—to illustrate the difficult work being done to break the foundational cycles of conflict and violence that has marked each country’s immediate history. Each country is open to tourism we also discussed the role the travel community has in rebuilding societal trust as a means for creating lasting peace.

Javier Reyes, host of The Digital Dash interviews illustrious still photographer Clay Enos. BIO: Clay Enos, despite over a decade of working on blockbuster film sets, refuses to be pigeonholed into any one category of photography. Movie posters, a far-flung non-profit assignment, or a spontaneous portrait on the street, finds Clay consistently capturing moments that feel both real and transcendent. Always spontaneous yet sincere, Clay's unique style shines through his commercial, editorial and personal photographs. Clay enjoys the fast pace of shooting on the fly. His relaxed, jovial style allows him to be creative and resourceful with whatever he is shooting. His recent commercial clients include Warner Bros. and the Bloomberg Foundation. In 2007, film director Zack Snyder hired Clay to document his film adaptation of Watchmen for Warner Bros. That opportunity opened up a world that for the next decade saw him working as a set photographer. His most notable recent films include the Academy Award winning A Star is Born and the upcoming sequel to the critically acclaimed and worldwide blockbuster, Wonder Woman 1984. See the complete list: IMDB When Clay is not riding his bicycle on the streets of New York, he is roaming the globe with his wife, jewelry designer, Kristine Cabanban, making memorable photographs of far away places (50-plus countries). He's as happy with an iPhone as with fancier gear. He speaks Spanish and French, has no problem traveling coach, and sleeps like a baby on airplanes. The ad-free, data mining-free social network Vero is Clay's favorite place to share his work. He does so generously as one of their brand Ambassadors. Clay has a BFA in Film, Photography and Visual Arts from Ithaca College. He has studied further with the VII photographers Jim Nachtwey, Gary Knight and Antonin Kratochvil.
The Rangers continue to make almost all Rangers fans rip their hair out in frustration. After a game that gave us all hope, they revert back to the extra passes, lack of shots, and a minimal attack in the 3rd period. 1 shot in 20 minutes while trailing by a goal is out of this world. Gary Knight will touch on it all. This episode is sponsored by "The Realistic Blue Shirts", THE BEST Rangers fan group on Facebook, run by fellow Rangers lunatic, Steven Waldman. If you aren't a member of the group page, you need to head over and join. Trust me, I get hockey updates before some news outlets thanks to them! TIME TO COMPLAIN TO THE WORLD!
Gary Knight talks about the New York Rangers special teams performance against the Florida Panthers. The emergence of a missing Zucc, and a smiling DJ who plays center having a 4 point night makes for a very happy team and even happier fan base. Something else that has made the fans (most of them) happy, is the news that Filip Chytil will not be sent down to the AHL and allowed to continue to develop with the big boys. The opportunity to take things to the next level are just within reach, hopefully bounces will start to go the teams way! Its SHOWTIME!
Gary Knight discusses the two different teams that played earlier in the week versus the team that showed up tonight. Quinn seems to be showing who he likes or trusts the least as scratch-fest continues. Plus, the strategy looked very clear in the first period for the Rangers, but because the entire team seems to be having issues finishing with the puck in the net, it put a rookie goalie on a pedestal and made his confidence hit the Garden rafters. Knight will also be arguing a couple of Quinn related items, which may be due to his lack of experience as an NHL coach, that could help curb some of the things that seem to be slowly getting away from where he wants and needs them to be. Tonight's show is sponsored by "Realistic Blue Shirts", the absolute KING of the Facebook Ranger group pages. It's hands down the internet version of the MSG lobby on Rangers game day. Fresh content all day long, that is handled by our friend, Steve Waldman. Head over and join that group, because it will change your timeline for the better instantly. LETS GET THIS SHOW GOING!
Gary Knight shares his views on all the positive things the fans can take away from a great showing on back to back nights. Rangers turn up the heat against the Avs with shot after shot, showing confidence and building momentum that was much needed. Even with the Blueshirts dropping the 2nd game in the same amount of nights to the Capitals, it was a night where the young team, who was written off before the season even began, grabbed a point against the defending Stanley Cup champions. Knight also talks Quinn's benching of players and how some roster moves have been made and someone is headed to the AHL.
Gary Knight breaks down some key moments in the Rangers 2-1 loss to the Oilers. Also, Knight explains why a loss after their 1st win isn't the end of the world and can actually be viewed in a positive light. Probably going to be a little more animated due to the teams Win - Loss record not matching how the team has played and some are very annoyed.
With 3 games in the books, Gary Knight gets a little more animated about the Rangers play and how people really shouldn't sleep on this New York Rangers team. Plus, the real test for this younger Rangers squad was on Sunday as the Rangers played back to backs with Hank sitting and a glimpse into life without The King came just 3 games into the season, and I really hope people saw how awful it can be! Any time a team scores 5 goals, they should get a win, but of course that's not how things happen in the world of a Rangers fan...
Gary Knight discusses the open night 3-2 loss at the Garden against a talented Nashville Preds, where the rookies on the Rangers played like veterans and some veterans played like rookies. Hank ties a Rangers great with his start tonight and why pulling the goalie as a Rangers coach just won't work. Come take a listen as Rangers KnightCast kicks off the season with the first show of the year!!

Today Gary Knight came on the show and told us about San Diego Futures Foundation (SFFF). This organization helps seniors and low income individuals get computers at a reduced rate. SDFF also teaches their recipients how to use the technology, which is often a hurdle in their target populations. Gary Knight is the Executive Director of the San Diego Futures Foundation (SDFF), a 501(c)3 nonprofit established to improve lives in San Diego through technology. SDFF provides equipment, software, training, services, and technical support to San Diego nonprofits, small businesses, and disadvantaged residents. SDFF is working to bridge the digital divide in San Diego, and helps low-income households, people with disabilities, and seniors. Prior to joining the San Diego Futures Foundation, Gary Knight was the president and chief executive officer of the San Diego North Economic Development Council. The council is a coalition of public and private entities whose main objective is to attract, retain and develop business in North County. It has almost doubled its membership since Knight took over in 2004. As president, Knight pushed for improved transportation options, greater educational opportunities, and reliable/affordable power supplies. Gary also provided strong support for the proposed desalination plant in Carlsbad and the new Palomar Hospital in Escondido. Gary sits on a number of Boards, Committees, and Advisory Groups all across San Diego. The organization not only helps those over 65 (and on Medicare) or those people of any age who are on Medi-Cal (California's version of Medicaid) or Cal-Fresh (California's version of Food Stamps) but it also helps anyone volunteer. Seniors can get a computer for little to no cost and then learn how to use it. SDFF gets seniors involved in technology. This Technology program works by partnering with: * Connect to Compete * Designed for kids who are on the Free Lunch program * Low-Cost Internet * Low-Cost Computers * Groups of people who want to volunteer by setting up computer labs at schools * SDFutures.org which is part of SDFF and provides computers and IT support to non-profits * Girls who Code, a school program that encourages girls to go into technology fields Are the computers FREE? No, because of some issues in the past, the computers are not free. These high-end computers start at about $100. Some people do get donated computers depending on the availability, need, and other factors. These low cost and free computers help get seniors involved in technology. SDFF re-formats the donated computers according to Department of Defense Standards. They also send unusable computers to a salvage company that meets their security and disposal requirements. Additionally, their staff undergoes background checks. Donors can feel good about donating their computers without having to worry about their data getting into the wrong hands. Hospital re-admittance rates are about 30% compared to only about 10% when the senior has something to look forward to. Working on a project or volunteering gives them something to look forward to. Gary told us a retirement lifestyle story about a man who was in a wheelchair because of a leg amputation due to diabetes. He rolled up to Gary and exclaimed, “You saved my life!” That was interesting to Gary since he had never met him. He explained that he had received one of their computers at a very low point in his life (right after his amputation). The gentleman had loved to work on cars and attend car shows before he lost his leg but was now confined to a wheelchair. By using the computer to join chat rooms and view car events online, he felt invigorated again with a newfound purpose in life. By the time he met Gary, he had started a web site for car buffs where they shared stories that made him feel ...

What if Christopher Columbus owed his success—maybe even his very life—to two brothers who have been almost completely forgotten in the annals of history? Forgotten Brothers is the story of Martín and Vicente Pinzon, and their instrumental role in the eventual success of Christopher Columbus’ mission. Columbus invited Martin Pinzon to join the expedition, but the two men would eventually become bitter rivals. And while heartbreak was the fate for the Pinzons, Columbus returned a victor, and history regards him as a hero. Based on many long-neglected historical treatises, some as many as 140 years old, this book presents a different picture of the facts of the voyage—facts today’s history books fail to reveal. Gary Knight is a descendent of Spanish immigrants (on his mother’s side) and has heard from his Spanish cousins for years the story of the Pinzon brothers, highlighted in his historical novel Forgotten Brothers. For 10 years, Gary tutored English and writing to aspiring high school students and was an adjunct professor at a community college for 5 years, while he continues his book writing. He is a member of the American Independent Writers group and writes on-line book reviews for them. Mr. Knight is a life-long sailor, has owned five boats on the Chesapeake Bay, and has participated in the Marion to Bermuda cruising race. He and his wife Brenda, who is a retired financial analyst for the Federal Reserve Board and a hypnotherapist, live on the water on the Chesapeake. Each has two grown daughters.
