We kick off with Charlie Hunnam stepping into the twisted role of Ed Hein in the new season of Monster before diving into the Hollywood cage match nobody asked for: Robert Downey Jr. vs. Ryan Reynolds — actual beef or just rich-people improv?Meanwhile, Este has his mind blown after finally realizing Alien, Predator, and Blade Runner all exist in the same universe (don't worry, we've scheduled his intervention). The guys also weigh in on the Rebel Alliance casually calling stormtroopers “white people”, the internet melting down over whispers of a Peacemaker orgy scene (?!?), and the sad, running joke that Doomsday is STILL not finished — years later, like your friend who keeps promising they're “almost done” with their screenplay. It's unfiltered, it's unhinged, and it's very Comix.

Coming off the back of the film Payback, Oscar-winning writer/director Brian Helgeland feared he might be in movie jail. When it came to the music, David Bowie turned up. And then there's the tale of its sequel that never was. King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword meanwhile was to be the first of six films, as originally pitched. Guy Ritchie came in to direct, and star Charlie Hunnam would admit that the film they started making wasn't the one they ended up with. Quite the story, though. Includes elephants and David Beckham. It's time to go to 2013 with a young Charlie Hunnam, and a Guillermo Del Toro who said that he laid everything out in this film, and it was just him having fun! It's pop culture classic time, speaking about Pacific Rim! Pacific Rim, while not being the "first" American made kaiju film, was probably the first blockbuster American kaiju film that took the genre more serious, and paid a lot more tribute than others in the past. "Long ago, legions of monstrous creatures called Kaiju arose from the sea, bringing with them all-consuming war. To fight the Kaiju, mankind developed giant robots called Jaegers, designed to be piloted by two humans locked together in a neural bridge. However, even the Jaegers are not enough to defeat the Kaiju, and humanity is on the verge of defeat. Mankind's last hope now lies with a washed-up ex-pilot, an untested trainee and an old, obsolete Jaeger." I think, like most of the pop culture films that we revisit, while it may not be the greatest movie, it definitely deserves its respect, and a high place in kaiju history! If you're a kaiju fan, and somehow haven't taken a look back, you're doing yourself a disservice. Go watch it, and if nothing else, you'll get to see big robots, and cool monsters! Lights, camera, ACTION! It's time to talk movies once again and we had a pretty good discussion about these two films. Drew's choice this week is Guy Ritchie's 2019 action/crime movie, The Gentlemen. With an ensemble cast including Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Colin Farrell and more, it's a pretty fun time. Kevin's pick is the 2008 Darren Aronofsky sports/drama film, The Wrestler starring Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei and more. It's a tragic, heavy story which is the type of thing Kevin is into. Big thanks to the listeners, we hope you enjoy this one and have a great week! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/distortedminds/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/distortedminds/support

This is a really good looking movie that has a lot of character and story problems. Full off all the Snyder techniques that you know and may or may not love about him. Also a real waist of Charlie Hunnam. "Undeclared" was a sitcom created by Judd Apatow that aired on the Fox network in 2001. It was the spiritual successor to "Freaks and Geeks," which had been critically acclaimed but canceled after just one season. The premise centered around a group of college freshmen as they navigate the challenges and adventures of college at the fictional University of Northeastern California. The show received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its humor, relatable characters, and realistic portrayal of college life. However, despite the critical acclaim, the show struggled to find a large audience and was canceled after just one season. Despite its short-lived run, "Undeclared" has had a lasting cultural impact and helped launch the careers of several actors and comedians who went on to become prominent figures in Hollywood. But is the show as good as critics say or did it deserve to get the boot after one season? Listen as the S1E1 boys deep dive the pilot episode, "Prototype" and find out. Starring: Jay Baruchel, Carla Gallo, Charlie Hunnam, Monica Keena, Seth Rogen, Timm Sharp, Jason Segel, & Loudon Wainwright III www.S1E1POD.com Instagram & X (Twitter): @S1E1Pod
