The government of Israel has been criticized for building fences in Gaza and the West Bank, but now it's geofencing American churches. Will its plan reverse the decline of evangelical support for the Jewish state? Donald Trump says he's making the country more Christian, but data shows his immigration policy favors secular immigrants and rejects Christians. Rich Villodas is back to talk about his new book for Advent, "Waiting for Jesus." He says we should use this season to resist consumerism, commercialism, and Christian culturalism. At the beginning of September, a woman in her 60s named Tyger commented on my ministry's Facebook page. She introduced yourself in the comments section as being a transgender atheist and offered some tips on how she thought Christians could best reach trans-identifying people. She continued to comment over the next couple of weeks on various posts. By the end of September, she shared that she had given her life to Jesus at a Charlie Kirk vigil and would be detransitioning. I subsequently got to know Tyger over email, and in today's episode, we have an in-depth conversation in which she shares her life story of what it's like to struggle with your biological sex. It's a fascinating first-hand account that I hope will give you more insight into the challenges people face and why it's so important for Christians to remain firmly rooted in truth.

Isaiah 7:13-14 and 9:6-7  Welcome to our very first Christmas episode of 2025! Whether you're a long-time listener or brand-new, we're so glad you're here. Today we begin Advent, a special four-week season where Christians prepare their hearts to celebrate Jesus' birth and look forward to His promised return. We'll explore what “Advent” means, why it's important, and how this season invites us to slow down, reflect, and wait with hope. We'll also hear an incredible true story from 1947—when a young shepherd boy discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls, some of the oldest copies of the Bible ever found. Among them was the Book of Isaiah, matching what we read today almost word for word. This amazing discovery reminds us that God's Word has been faithfully preserved for thousands of years and that we can trust His promises. Through Isaiah's ancient prophecies, we'll see how God foretold the coming of Jesus long before He was born—and how Advent helps us celebrate that promise fulfilled. It's Wednesday, December 3rd, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Thailand orders Christian back to Vietnam to likely torture Last Wednesday, a court in Thailand ordered that a Christian activist and asylum seeker must be sent back to Vietnam. Y Quynh Bdap, the co-founder of Montagnards Stand for Justice, faces a 10-year sentence in Vietnam for alleged anti-Communist activities.   International Christian Concern noted, “If extradited to Vietnam, he will likely face torture, violence, and imprisonment. … This will set a dangerous precedent for the thousands of other Christian refugees in Thailand who could also be extradited to their home country, where they fled persecution.” According to Open Doors, Vietnam is the 47th most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. Flooding and landslides in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand Monsoon rains brought catastrophic flooding and landslides to Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand last week. The death toll has surpassed 1,300, and nearly a thousand people are missing. The National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka is distributing emergency aid to pastors and Christian workers in the country. The group said the flooding has been “displacing families and severely impacting pastors, Christian workers, and churches.” Trump pauses immigration from Third World countries In the United States, President Donald Trump announced last Thursday his administration will “permanently pause” migration from Third World countries.  This came a day after an Afghan national shot two National Guard members with a  357 revolver in Washington, D.C. near the White House. U.S. Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, aged 20, died the next day. U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolf remains in serious condition. However, doctors report that he was able to give a thumbs-up sign when prompted and he wiggled his toes on command as well. Brigadier General Leland Blanchard spoke at a press conference. BLANCHARD: “Their families' lives are all changed forever because one person decided to do this horrific and evil thing.” Officials charged the 29-year-old Afghan national, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, with first-degree murder yesterday. The Afghan man drove cross country, from his home in Washington State, to carry out the targeted attack. He had immigrated to the United States in 2021 under a Biden era program evacuating Afghan refugees during the chaotic withdrawal of U.S. forces. Listen to comments from White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.  LEAVITT: “Sarah and Andrew represent the very best of America, two young patriots who were willing to put on the uniform and risk their lives in defense of their fellow Americans. Both of them truly embody the profound words spoken by Jesus Christ in the Gospel. Greater love has no one than this to lay down one's life for one's friends.” (John 15:13) Mass killings are down this year Mass killings in the U.S. are down according to a database maintained by The Associated Press and USA Today. There have been 17 shooters who killed four or more people in a 24-hour period not including themselves. That's the lowest on record since 2006. Mass killings mostly occur at people's homes and often involve family members.  California officials dropped $70,000 in COVID fines against church Officials in California recently dropped nearly $70,000 in fines against a church and Christian school. The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health targeted Calvary Chapel San Jose and its affiliated Calvary Christian Academy during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Joel Oster with Advocates for Faith & Freedom said, “This is a complete victory, not only for Calvary Christian Academy, but for every church and Christian school in California. The State tried to use [the Occupational Safety and Health Administration] as a weapon to intimidate a religious institution. They failed. And they were forced to walk away from their own claims.” Should pro-life ministry be compelled to reveal names of donors? The U.S. Supreme Court heard a case yesterday involving a pro-life ministry in New Jersey. The case began in 2023 when the state targeted First Choice Women's Resource Centers with a subpoena, demanding the names of its donors.  Reuters reports that the justices appeared favorable to the pro-life ministry. William Haun with The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty said, “The Court should make clear that state bureaucrats cannot exploit their power to intimidate ministries or chill the faith commitments that guide their work.” Isaiah 10:1-2 says, “Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, who write misfortune, which they have prescribed to rob the needy of justice, and to take what is right from the poor of My people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless.” The “Naughty and Nice List” of U.S. retailers And finally, AUDIO: “He's making a list and checking it twice. He's going to find out who's naughty or nice.” Liberty Counsel released its latest “Naughty and Nice List” last month. The list catalogs retailers that are censoring Christmas and ones that are publicly celebrating it. Companies that celebrate Christmas include Costco, Lowe's, and Walmart. Companies that silence and censor Christmas include TJ Maxx, Barnes & Noble, and CVS Pharmacy.   Mat Staver with Liberty Counsel said, “Christianity remains the largest faith tradition in the United States and is associated with worship, family traditions, nostalgia, and seasonal joy. … We are happy to report that some retailers still recognize that the Christmas season is about the birth of Jesus and is not just a winter holiday.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, December 3rd, in the year of our Lord 2025. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  Plus, you can get the Generations app through Google Play or The App Store. Are you living at your best—or simply getting by? For many believers, chronic exhaustion has become a quiet norm. Yet Scripture reminds us that burnout isn't a badge of honor. It's a warning light. When life feels out of balance, it may be a sign we're pushing beyond the limits God lovingly designed for our good.Today, we sat down with Carey Nieuwhof—pastor, bestselling author of At Your Best: How to Get Time, Energy, and Priorities Working in Your Favor, leadership expert, and host of the Carey Nieuwhof Leadership Podcast, as well as the founding pastor of Connexus Church—to talk about how Christians can pursue biblical rest and renewed purpose. Carey's insights come not from theory, but from the deepest valley of personal experience. When Success Masks ExhaustionCarey's story began two decades ago, during a season of explosive ministry growth. His church was thriving, opportunities were multiplying, and by every outward measure, life was “on top.” But amid this success, his inner world was collapsing. After returning from a high-profile speaking event, Carey hit a wall:“It was like I fell off a cliff. I lost motivation, passion, and energy. I met all the symptoms of clinical depression. My body declared a finish line I had refused to acknowledge.”People around him saw the signs. He didn't. And that's often the story behind burnout—others notice the warning lights long before we do.Carey describes burnout as “the gap between what you're capable of and what you're carrying.” Early in ministry, he assumed that increasing responsibility meant increasing hours. It was an unsustainable equation.Yet today, two decades later, he leads a much larger platform with far more influence—without living exhausted. Why? Because he restructured his life around a biblical rhythm of rest, limits, and intentional focus.Managing Energy, Not Just TimeMany Christians feel that better time management will fix their overload. But as Carey points out, time is a fixed asset—everyone gets the same 24 hours. Energy, however, rises and falls.Every person has what Carey calls a “green zone”—a few hours each day when they are at their best mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. For him, it's morning. For others, it might be midday or evening. His challenge is simple: Do what you're best at when you're at your best. When he writes in his green zone, he gets exponential results. When he tries the same work in his “red zone,” productivity crashes. This principle applies to everyone—from CEOs to parents, pastors, and business owners.Stewarding energy also requires boundaries. That means saying no—not out of selfishness, but out of faithfulness.Carey explains:Saying yes to every request eventually forces you to say no to the people who matter most.Delegation is a spiritual discipline. Some opportunities, even good ones, don't align with God's call in a particular season.By categorizing his decisions—like eliminating breakfast meetings that compete with his green zone—Carey reclaimed the margin he had been missing for years.Rest Is Not a Reward—It's DesignFor many Christians, rest feels like something we “earn” after working ourselves to the edge. But biblically, rest is part of our calling.Carey describes Sabbath not just as rehab after exhaustion, but prehab—something that prepares and strengthens us for faithful work. He points to the way elite athletes build rhythms of sleep, diet, and intentional recovery before they step onto the court.Even God modeled this for us—delighting in His creation and resting not from exhaustion but from joyful completeness. For Carey, the principles of rest and margin extend well beyond the calendar.A free Saturday protects family time. A healthy emergency fund protects the home from crisis. Limits are not restrictions—they are blessings that allow us to flourish.Margin creates room to love well, give freely, and listen to God's direction.Living at Your BestCarey's journey from burnout to renewal is a grace-filled reminder: God never asked us to outrun His design. He calls us to work diligently, rest faithfully, and live within the good limits He created for our flourishing. Carey's whole story—and the principles he teaches in his book At Your Best—offer a roadmap for anyone seeking balance, health, and spiritual renewal. For more wisdom from Carey Nieuwhof, explore his book At Your Best and visit the Carey Nieuwhof Leadership Podcast. And if you're an advisor, he'll be joining us at Redeeming Money, our conference for financial professionals, in February.May you learn to live—not at your limit—but at your best, in the freedom and rest God provides. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:Can you explain the pros and cons of taking Social Security at 62 versus waiting until full retirement age? By 62, I'll be mostly debt-free, and since longevity doesn't run in my family, I'm wondering if it makes sense to claim early while my quality of life is higher and still work within the income limits. When should someone update their will? I'm 58, debt-free, still working, and have a solid 401(k). Should I consider setting up a trust, and how do I know when that becomes the wise choice, especially since it costs more?Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's Quarterly Magazine (Become a FaithFi Partner)At Your Best: How to Get Time, Energy, and Priorities Working in Your Favor by Carey NieuwhofDidn't See It Coming: Overcoming the Seven Greatest Challenges That No One Expects and Everyone Experiences by Carey NieuwhofThe Carey Nieuwhof Leadership PodcastRedeeming Money 2026: A Kingdom Advisors ConferenceWisdom Over Wealth: 12 Lessons from Ecclesiastes on MoneyLook At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions every workday at (800) 525-7000. Timothy Keller Sermons Podcast by Gospel in Life

How should Christians view their money and their possessions? We're looking at the Gospel of Luke, because Luke has much to say on this subject. How does God want us to think about money in general? What should our attitude be toward it? How should we relate to giving and spending? In Luke 14, we see two things: 1) Jesus Christ lays out a standard for sacrificial giving that's so astonishing it will seem unreasonable, and 2) Jesus actually shows how reasonable this kind of giving is. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on June 20, 2010. Series: Money and Possessions – In the Teaching of St. Luke. Scripture: Luke 14:7-24. Today's podcast is brought to you by Gospel in Life, the site for all sermons, books, study guides and resources from Timothy Keller and Redeemer Presbyterian Church. Gaius walks in the truth, and John expresses great joy in hearing that his spiritual children are living faithfully. He encourages continued support for those doing God's work, as they rely on the hospitality of believers. John contrasts Gaius with Diotrephes, a man who rejects authority, spreads malicious words, and refuses to welcome other believers. He warns against following such bad examples and instead urges believers to imitate what is good. He also commends Demetrius for his strong reputation and faithful life. John hopes to visit soon and closes with greetings of peace and love from mutual friends in the faith.  We will greatly prosper in Christ as we walk in truth and express love through our actions. Like Gaius, we are called to support those who serve God, even if we do not know them personally. Our hospitality and encouragement can genuinely make a difference in the work of the gospel. Meanwhile, we must avoid following the example of pride or selfishness, as seen with Diotrephes. Our goal is to be recognized for our kindness, humility, and commitment to serving others. When we live with integrity and care for our fellow believers, we bring joy to those in leadership and honor God with our lives. Let us continue to walk in truth, serve faithfully, and love deeply every day.  Almighty God, thank You for the truth that shapes our lives and for people who encourage us to walk faithfully. Help us to be like Gaius, generous and welcoming to those who serve in Your name. Grant us discernment to recognize what is good and courage to turn away from pride and division. Fill our hearts with joy as we serve others and open our homes in love. May we be known for building up the body of Christ, not tearing it down. Let our words bring peace, our actions show grace, and our lives reflect the light of Christ.  Thought Questions: Why has hospitality become so rare, particularly toward unfamiliar people? How do you show kindness to brethren who pass through? Why did Diotrephes accuse John and refuse to accept Christians? How do you prevent a level of pride that does such evil to brethren? Demetrius received a good testimony from everyone. How do you think he built that reputation, and how are you doing the same?

Why is it that Christians tend to focus on the brokenness of creation rather than its goodness? What if we shifted our attention to highlighting that God made the world to be our home, and as a result, focused on loving the world? Welcome to Day 2744 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2744– A Confident Life – The Supremacy of Love – 1 John 5:1-12 Putnam Church Message – 10/26/2025 Sermon Series: 1, 2, & 3 John “Believers, Overcomers, and Witnesses"  Last week, we continued through the letter of 1 John and explored how to have “A Confident Life: The Supremacy of Love.” This week, we continue through the letter of 1 John, and we will explore how to have “A Confident Life: Believers, Overcomers, and Witnesses” from 1 John 5:1-12 from the NIV, which is found on page 1903 of your Pew Bibles. Faith in the Incarnate Son of God 1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3 In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 6 This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the[a] Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. 9 We accept human testimony, but God's testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. Opening Prayer Believers are identified by various titles throughout Scripture. We're called Christians, disciples, followers, saints, sheep, salt, light, ambassadors for Christ, members of the body of Christ, royal priests, aliens, strangers, servants of Christ, and the people of God, among other titles. Like a jeweler turning a diamond under a bright light, each designation reveals another facet of our character, role, position, or privilege. Near the end of his letter, John introduces two more titles for believers and also mentions, in this section, the three witnesses who testify in complete agreement regarding God's Son. All of this will help us deepen our understanding of what it means to be part of God's forever family. As we arrive at the last two verses in this section, we come to one of the most explicit statements of the gospel found in the entire Word of God. 5:1–3 Approaching the end of his ministry, the apostle John penned the fourth

They chose a few targets, people with big followings, and courted them. Jerry Falwell was an obvious choice. He was a fundamentalist preacher, televangelist, and the founder of Liberty University. He also had a propensity for the dramatic, seeing the end of days around every corner. The New Right did not like President Jimmy Carter and did their best to turn evangelicals against him. A big job considering that Carter was an evangelical and often talked about his faith. Still, they wanted Ronald Reagan (a divorced actor with a reputation with the ladies) to be their man. Podcast Series: Promised & Fulfilled: Christmas Through the Eyes of Prophecy Episode 1: Echoes of Promise: Understanding Prophecy in the Old Testament Step back into the world of ancient Israel as Greg and Nathan launch their four-part Christmas series, Promised & Fulfilled. In this opening episode, “Echoes of Promise,” the hosts explore how the earliest hints of Christmas were woven into the fabric of Israel's story long before a manger ever held a child. Greg and Nathan unpack what “prophecy” meant to the original hearers—ordinary Israelites who listened to God's word through His appointed messengers. They discuss the prophet's dual task of forth-telling (calling God's people back to faithfulness) and foretelling (revealing what God would do in the future), laying the groundwork for understanding how Old Testament promises point both to immediate events and to the long-awaited Messiah. Drawing from key passages like Deuteronomy 18:15, Isaiah 7:14, the Davidic Covenant in 2 Samuel 7:12–13, and Hosea 11:1, the hosts explore the concept of dual fulfillment—how one prophecy can hold both a near-term, historical meaning and a far-reaching, messianic one. They also shed light on why many in Jesus' day expected a political liberator rather than a suffering Savior. To deepen the conversation, Greg and Nathan tackle questions such as: • What did Old Testament believers really expect when they heard promises of a coming deliverer? • How did the idea of dual fulfillment develop in Jewish thought? • Why do some prophecies seem to stretch across centuries? • And what misconceptions do modern Christians often bring to biblical prophecy? Whether you're new to Old Testament prophecy or looking to see the Christmas story with fresh clarity, this episode invites you to hear the echoes of promise that shaped Israel's hope—and still shape ours today.

Romans 8:28-30 — Can Christians lose their salvation? This is a much-debated question in Christianity that has immense significance for all believers. Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones says that while some passages seem to teach that Christians can lose their salvation, this is a misunderstanding. In this sermon on Romans 8:28–30 titled “The Threefold Purpose,” he looks at the warning passages in Hebrews 6 and 10. He argues that these passages do not speak of true Christians falling away but it speaks of those unbelievers who hear the gospel and are in the church, yet reject it. Just as many people in the Bible, such as Judas, are part of the visible church (and even in places of authority), they are shown to not be truly saved. So it is true in all the church. The Bible never speaks of true believers falling away. These are lost men and women who show temporary signs of profession yet fall away. These passages ought to encourage true believers to seek to live a life that testifies to Christ's power of salvation. Can true Christians fall away from Christ? The Bible's answer is no since Christ is the perfect Savior who is able to redeem sinners and bring their salvation to completion. As the Savior promised, no one can snatch a child of His from His hand. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/603/29?v=20251111

Can someone claim to be born again while habitually practicing sin? According to several extremely clear (And neglected!) passages of Scripture, the answer is a resounding NO. When God's seed—His very nature—dwells within us through the Holy Spirit, we cannot continue to live in perpetual, intentional sin. This isn't about perfection or never stumbling, but about the fundamental trajectory of our lives. Are we characterized by righteousness or by ongoing rebellion? The lists in these passages—sexual immorality, idolatry, drunkenness, greed, reviling—aren't meant to condemn us but to wake us up from a coma of deception. They function like spiritual pain receptors, alerting us to danger so we can change course. We are called to examine ourselves honestly: do we possess mere intellectual agreement with gospel facts, or has Jesus truly taken residence in our hearts, producing a new nature that cannot coexist with habitual sin? Eternity for so many professing Christians hangs in the balance and how they respond to these truths that lukewarm leaders avoid.

This fruit was produced among them by the Gospel, so that they imitated the Lord Jesus and the apostles as they suffered with great joy. This set an example to Christians throughout the world, as they remembered how the Thessalonians turned away from idols to serve the living God, who has given us Jesus and saved us from the wrath to come.  Rev. The Road to Mount Zion: Walking Toward God's Peace The Gospel recounts Jesus' warning that the coming of the Son of Man will be sudden, . . . . . . just as the flood came unexpectedly in the days of Noah. Therefore, believers must remain spiritually awake and prepared at all times. The Homily connects this vigilance to the Advent call for peace and reconciliation. Reflecting on the United Nations monument inspired by Isaiah's prophecy . . . “They shall beat their swords into plowshares” . . . the Homily notes that true peace does not come from political power or military strength but from turning toward God, the God of Jacob. Despite global efforts, . . . . . . wars persist, reminding us that peace must begin within each person. During Advent, Christians are invited to “beat their swords into plowshares” by reconciling with those who have hurt them. The greatness of a Christian lies in seeking peace, healing relationships, and living each day as though the Lord is coming in every moment. Paul's call to “wake from sleep” emphasizes living daily life in holiness, attentiveness, and readiness. Advent begins not with the beginning of time but with the end in view . . . the ultimate fulfillment when God will be all in all and peace will reign. The Church becomes the place where this peace begins as believers set aside hostility and walk together toward God. Listen to this Meditation Media. Christmas in England is a holiday defined by contrasts — sacred hymns drifting through ancient stone cathedrals while mischievous spirits lurk in old folktales; roaring hearth fires glowing against midnight frost while wassailers roam the village lanes singing for warmth and blessing; feasts that echo medieval banquet halls side-by-side with quiet, candlelit reflections on the Nativity. English Christmas is both solemn and lively, reverent and hearty, holy and haunted. And for millions of American families, its echoes pulse through recipes, carols, and customs handed down across generations. To understand Christmas in England is to understand the root system that fed much of the English-speaking world's celebration — including the United States, Canada, Australia, and beyond. Yet the English Christmas we know today was not shaped all at once. It evolved through Roman influence, medieval pageantry, Puritan suppression, Victorian reinvention, and twentieth-century nostalgia. Each era left traces in family traditions, many of which migrated wherever English-speaking people carried their memories. For genealogists, England's Christmas traditions offer a rare window into family identity. The style of worship, the foods served during the Twelve Days of Christmas, the songs sung on Christmas Eve, and the presence or absence of certain rituals can reveal an ancestor's place, class, denomination, or even the region they called home. Christmas in England is not a monolith — it is a mosaic built from centuries of theological debates, seasonal folklore, local customs, and literary imagination. This entry explores the origins, folklore, Biblical meaning, and genealogical insights of Christmas in England — a land where holly crowns pagans and Christians alike, where spirits are said to wander at Christmastime, and where a humble manger story birthed some of the world's most enduring holiday traditions. Scott and Josh talk about the practice of viewing our lives within God's larger story. In the same way Zechariah situates John in the unfolding story of God's redemption, Christians are called to see our own identity as rooted in that story. The Words of Grace Podcast seeks to clarify, amplify, and apply the Sunday morning sermon at Grace Community Church. From time to time we will address other topics. We hope these podcasts help impress the Word of God into your everyday life. Episodes are hosted by Josh Hussung and Scott Patty.

In this episode of Thinking Out Loud, they explore why today's films and sermons feel “dumbed down,” how smartphones have changed the way we engage with story and truth, and what Christians should recover from past eras of richer, more thoughtful communication. There was a beer commercial that had the line, "you only go around once in life so you gotta grab for all the gusto you can." With that philosophy your focus just becomes about the present moment and whatever pleasure can be obtained with it. As Christians what should our focus be? Today's reflection has the answer.
