After being born again by faith alone in Christ alone, we are to continue in faith. Paul wrote, “as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him” (Col 2:6). We received Jesus by faith, and after being born again, we are to “walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Cor 5:7). The word “walk” translates the Greek verb peripateō (περιπατέω), which is here used as a metaphor for how we live, behave, or habitually conduct our lives. To walk by faith means we learn and apply God's Word to our lives (i.e., marriage, family, education, work, finances, etc.). It means obeying God's directives, claiming His promises, and utilizing His resources for our daily problems. We are also instructed to “walk by the Spirit” and not the flesh (Gal 5:16). When we live by faith and depend on the Spirit for strength and guidance, we “walk in a manner worthy of the calling” with which we have been called (Eph 4:1). As Christians, we are instructed to learn God's Word that we might come to know our new identity in Christ and lay hold of the many blessings God has provided for us as His children. Gospel information started our journey of faith, and Bible doctrine is the basis for our spiritual walk and advance to maturity. The advancing believer is living the righteous life that God expects, for He says, “My righteous one shall live by faith” (Heb 10:38), and “faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see” (Heb 11:1 NET). To live by faith in God and His Word pleases Him, for “without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him” (Heb 11:6). Paul said, “we have as our ambition…to be pleasing to Him” (2 Cor 5:9). Christians who fail to live by faith, who choose not to learn and/or live by God's Word, will default to humanistic philosophies, values, and experiences. In immature or carnal Christians, experiences and feelings will be regarded as more real, reliable, and important than God and His Word. Though we can enjoy our experiences and feelings (when they align with God), these are not stable, so we must be careful not to prioritize them or make them the base of operations. Divine wisdom should be our base of operations, as God wants us to learn and live His Word, to trust Him in all things, and to live by faith as obedient-to-the-Word children. When feelings rise high, faith must rise higher, lest we get bogged down and trapped in faulty reasonings that enslave and hinder our spiritual life and victory. The walk of faith requires discipline of mind and will. Ultimately, “whatever is not from faith is sin” (Rom 14:23). Faith starts with God and His directives and promises. Once we learn about God's directives, provisions and promises, He expects us to live by them, to be “doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude” ourselves (Jam 1:22). It is possible to learn God's Word and not apply it by faith, which is why James wrote, “to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin” (Jam 4:17). It is a sin not to live by faith. The writer to the Hebrews warned his readers, saying, “Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God” (Heb 3:12). After hearing God's Word, it is evil for a Christian not to believe it. It's evil because God's Word is absolute truth (2 Sam 7:28; Psa 119:160; John 17:17), and rejecting or doubting it implies that God, who cannot lie (Num 23:19; Tit 1:2; Heb 6:18), is untrustworthy, which is an affront to His perfect nature. This evil behavior was exemplified by the Israelites in the wilderness, for after they'd been delivered from Egyptian bondage, they failed to live by faith (Num 14:11), angered the Lord (Psa 95:8-11), and so forfeited the blessing of inheriting the land (Heb 3:15-18). The danger for us as Christians is that we might know God's directives and promises, but fail to apply them by faith, and never benefit from His blessings. The writer to the Hebrews said, “Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it. For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard” (Heb 4:1-2). Hindrances to the Walk of Faith The hindrances to Christian faith are numerous, but they all share one common feature: they obstruct the believer's ability to live in active dependence on God and obedience to His Word. Among the most dangerous is ignorance of God's Word, which the Lord denounced when He said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hos 4:6). The Christian life cannot be lived in a doctrinal vacuum. Truth must be learned before it can be applied. Without sound doctrine, believers are spiritually malnourished, vulnerable to deception, and unable to live a life that honors God (2 Tim 2:15; 3:16-17; 1 Pet 2:2; 2 Pet 3:18). Ignorance guarantees defeat in the spiritual life, not because God withholds grace, but because we fail to appropriate it. Another major hindrance is irrational and unwarranted fear, which paralyzes faith and distorts perspective. Paul reminded Timothy that “God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline” (2 Tim 1:7). Fear can override truth when allowed to take root in the heart, leading to cowardice in witness, compromise in conviction, and retreat from divine opportunity. Like the Israelites at the edge of Canaan (Num 13:31–14:4), believers who allow fear to dominate their thinking often forfeit the blessings of forward movement in God's plan. Also, failure to claim God's promises is a silent killer of the spiritual life. Hebrews warns of “an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God” (Heb 3:12), not in the sense of losing salvation, but of turning away from the daily walk of faith. God's promises are anchors for the soul (Heb 6:18-19), and to neglect them is to drift aimlessly through life, tossed by circumstances rather than guided by divine certainty. Faith appropriates what God has revealed and rests confidently in His faithfulness, even when circumstances contradict what is seen. Unwarranted self-reliance is another subtle enemy. While human effort has its place in Christian discipline, trust in self apart from God is condemned. Solomon cautioned, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding” (Prov 3:5), and Jeremiah adds, “Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind and makes flesh his strength” (Jer 17:5). The Christian life is supernatural and cannot be lived in the power of the flesh. Self-dependence is spiritual sabotage. Furthermore, yielding to the pressures and pleasures of the world is a treacherous distraction. James minces no words when he writes, “Friendship with the world is hostility toward God” (Jam 4:4), and John adds that “if anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15). Worldliness appeals to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the boastful pride of life—all of which are inconsistent with the life of faith. Lastly, choosing the desires of the flesh over the will of God leads to spiritual defeat and divine discipline. Paul teaches that “the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit” (Gal 5:17), and Peter exhorts believers to “abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul” (1 Pet 2:11). The Christian must actively choose to walk by the Spirit (Gal 5:16), moment by moment, if he is to live victoriously. In sum, these hindrances—ignorance, fear, unbelief, self-reliance, worldliness, and fleshly desire—are not minor setbacks; they are spiritual roadblocks. The remedy is found in consistent intake of God's Word (2 Tim 3:16-17; 1 Pet 2:2), transformation through mind-renewal (Rom 12:1-2), a life of faith anchored in divine promises (Heb 11:6), and moment-by-moment dependence on the Holy Spirit for guidance and strength (Gal 5:16). Where faith flourishes, these hindrances fall. God's Word is Reliable Though Peter had personally seen and heard Christ (2 Pet 1:16-18), he told his readers, “We have the prophetic word made more sure” (2 Pet 1:19a). Other translations read, “we possess the prophetic word as an altogether reliable thing” (2 Pet 1:19a NET), and “We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable” (2 Pet 1:19a NIV). The words “more sure” translate the Greek adjective bebaios (βέβαιος) which means reliable, dependable, or trustworthy. According to BDAG, it refers to “something that can be relied on not to cause disappointment.”[1] Kenneth Wuest states, “The idea here is of something that is firm, stable, something that can be relied upon or trusted in. The idea in the Greek text is, ‘We have the prophetic word as a surer foundation' than even the signs and wonders which we have seen.”[2] Robert B. Thieme Jr., notes, “God's Word is more real than empirical knowledge, more reliable than anything seen, heard, or felt (2 Pet 1:12–21). Unlike the grass that withers and the flowers that fade, ‘the word of our God stands forever' (Isa 40:8). God guarantees that His Word never goes forth without accomplishing His will (Isa 55:11).”[3] The point is that God's Word is absolutely reliable, “to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place” (2 Pet 1:19b). This absolute reliability of Scripture flows from the unchanging character of God Himself. God is perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, and absolute in truth. He cannot lie, nor does He ever fail to keep His promises. As Scripture states, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent; has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Num 23:19). Paul wrote that God “cannot lie” (Tit 1:2), and the writer of Hebrews affirms “it is impossible for God to lie” (Heb 6:18). Because of this, His Word is completely trustworthy. God never speaks in vain; His Word is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, and able to pierce the deepest parts of the human soul (Heb 4:12). What He reveals is not merely informative—it is transformative. As Isaiah recorded, “so will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it” (Isa 55:11). God's promises are as dependable as His character, and trusting in them is never misplaced faith—it is the most rational and secure response a believer can have. Conclusion In summary, the Christian life is a walk of faith that is empowered by the Holy Spirit and grounded in God's Word. Faith is not blind or speculative; rather, it is a confident trust in the revealed truths of Scripture, producing a life that seeks to honor God through obedience and reliance on His promises. To walk by faith is to live in active dependence on God, letting His Word shape our thinking, guide our actions, and strengthen us for every challenge we may face. The Holy Spirit works through the Scriptures to instruct, remind, and empower us, enabling us to live the Christian life. As believers, we are called to a disciplined life of learning and applying God's Word, and not trusting in experiences or feelings. The walk of faith is pleasing to God, honors Him, edifies others, and brings us mental and emotional stability. Steven R. Neda was born in Iran to a Muslim family. She grew up as a Muslim and married a well-known Iranian athlete. But their marriage was on the rocks. At 22, feeling broken and empty, Neda called out to Allah for help. But she found no solace, and grew angry and disillusioned with a god that refused to answer her prayers. As Neda's heart continued searching, God supernaturally told a family member living in the Netherlands to go back to Iran and share the gospel of Jesus. Neda came to faith in Christ through her relative's witness and her life was radically transformed. Her husband, surprised and amazed by the change he saw in her, placed his trust in Jesus too. God faithfully restored their marriage and called them to ministry. Neda drew strength from the stories of other persecuted Christians. She read a story in a book from The Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) about a girl who was assaulted and became pregnant. Yet she responded with remarkable faith by entrusting everything, even her body, to God. God used this story to teach Neda about the importance of obedience and sacrifice despite fear of persecution and threats of imprisonment and violence. Over the next thirteen years, Neda and her husband faced increasing persecution from the Islamic government. In one incident, officials raided their home and threatened her husband at gunpoint. She and her husband ultimately decided to leave Iran, yet they continue to serve from abroad through Iran Alive Ministries. Neda encourages every Christian to lay down their own desires and fully surrender to God's will—even when it means taking up their cross and enduring suffering and persecution. She also shares specific ways to pray for Christians in Iran during the current turmoil there. It's not just a good habit—it's a biblical command. So what is the gift of discernment, and does that mean only some Christians are expected to use it? Or is spiritual discernment something we're all called to walk in? Daily Study: What holds most Christians in business back from maximal success is this nagging question in the back of their mind: Is pursuing money okay? This uncertainty has them charging less money than they should or wanting to give their products and services away for free. Due to worldly and churchly pressures, we are inundated with messages that say making money is bad, from Hollywood to the Pulpit. They see the pursuit of profit in business as a necessary evil at best, and at worst they see pursuing profit as taking from society and the poor. There are very few things that the world and the church agree on, and it seems like that they both have deemed pursuing profit as bad. However, this thought process will hold you back from fulfilling what God has called you to do in business. Proclus was the uncle of Hilarius; both were from Kallippi in Asia during the reign of Trajan. When Proclus was brought to be tried as a Christian, the judge asked him 'Of what race are you?' Proclus answered 'I am of the race of Christ, and my hope is in my God.' When the judge threatened to torture him, he said 'When you are afraid to transgress the Emperor's commands and risk falling into temporal punishment, how much more do we Christians fear to transgress against God's commands and fall into eternal torment!' When Proclus was given over to torture, his nephew Hilarius came forward and proclaimed 'I too am a Christian.' After torture, both were condemned to death; Proclus was crucified and Hilarius beheaded.   Imagine how the Orthodox Church would benefit if, when we were asked 'Of what race are you?' the first answer that came to mind was not 'I am Greek, Russian, Serbian...' but 'I am of the race of Christ!'

A “SLIDE SHOW STORY” published by The Telegraph in 2009 told a grim story of a coordinated series of terror attacks that resulted in martial law and a new Union of North America. Operation Blackjack trended again on social media a few weeks ago because of the dates in the story, which begins on June 20. We revisit the original account, which (spoilers) laid out a scenario in which horrific false flag attacks are blamed on “Islamists and Christian doomsday cultists” (as if violent Muslims and so-called Christians would work together, but whatever). The remnant of government steps in, cracks down on civil liberties and forms a new government. The story went viral in 2009, but would get even more traction today because social media plays a much larger role in society today than it did sixteen years ago. Add to this volatile social engineering experiment the role of artificial intelligence to manipulate the content we consume (and our growing reliance on AI to tell us whether what we see online is true), and we have a recipe for deception on a global scale. At the time, we wondered about the purpose of a respected legacy media outlet like The Telegraph in publishing something like Operation Blackjack. We asked whether it was a viral marketing campaign for a movie or TV program, a poorly drawn web comic, or a PSYOP. In the years since, we've settled on PSYOP. One of the greatest debates in Christianity today is regarding which laws apply to Christians. In this podcast, we explore (1) statements from critics against obeying God's law, (2) the moral, civil and ceremonial categories, (3) the notion that only OT laws repeated in the NT are relevant for Christians - and more! We discuss controversial laws of the Old Testament, to get to the bottom of how Jesus walked, and called us to walk. Daily Dose of Hope July 11, 2025   Scripture - Matthew 24:36-51   Prayer:  Almighty God, We thank you for a new day and we praise your perfect name.  We are grateful that your mercies are new every single morning.  Help us see you in this day.  Help us recognize your voice.  Lord, help us reflect you today in our words.  Help us reflect you in our behavior.  Help us remember who and whose we are.  In Your Name, Amen.   Welcome back to the Daily Dose of Hope, a Deep Dive into the Gospels and Acts.  I apologize for this devotional being late.  My rhythm got knocked off a bit with Vacation Bible School.  It was absolutely wonderful and exhausting in a good way.  We had just over 200 kids and roughly 65 volunteers.  Please continue to be in prayer for every child and every family – may those who don't know Jesus grow closer to knowing him and may those who don't have a church home come join us at New Hope.   Today, we are finishing up Matthew 24.  This is really a continuation of the discussion in the first portion of the chapter.  Jesus is saying that the time and hour he will return are not known.  And we are not supposed to be guessing and predicting.  We are simply told to be ready.   Certain groups of Christians have focused a great deal on the coming judgment and the end times. I think what we find in this chapter is that there is more that we don't know than what we do know. For thousands of years, people have predicted Jesus' return and the coming judgment and each and every time, they were wrong. I'm always a bit skeptical of anyone who makes predictions like these. I mean, the Scripture says, “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” If Jesus doesn't know, then why should we?   Keep watch. Be ready. We don't need to worry about the coming judgment because we know Jesus. But we do need to be actively living as a follower. We need to be sharing the Good News with others. We need to be genuine, loving, and truthful in how we do life. Do your neighbors know that you love Jesus? Do your coworkers know that you follow Jesus? Is your faith obvious and real? Why or why not? Let's take this Scripture seriously, friends.   The chapter ends with a parable about a faithful and unfaithful servant.  Jesus says that blessed is the servant whose master finds him working diligently when he arrives.  That servant will be put in charge of many possessions.  But the unfaithful servant is the one who assumes his master is delayed so he mistreats his fellow servants and drinks instead of working.  When the master arrives home unexpectantly, the servant will be cut into pieces and thrown in with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.  Well, that sounds pretty terrible.   What is the meaning of the parable?  Basically, Jesus is saying that our actions, our behavior, shows what we truly believe.  If we believe in Jesus, then we obey him and choose to do the right thing.  We live a faithful life, ready for when he will return.  If we don't obey and don't live faithfully, it's like saying we don't believe.   Don't deny God with your actions.  Know God and be ready for his return at any time.    Are you ready?   Blessings, Pastor Vicki

Delayed gratification, when people are willing to wait for a bigger payoff down the road instead of gratifying their desires right now, has been called “the most effective trait of successful people.” Christians in the habit of waiting on God's timetable have long known that patience in God always pays off in the end, including Noah.Music Credit: J. Send us a textWhat does it truly mean to be justified before God? Is adherence to religious laws necessary for salvation, or is faith in Christ alone sufficient? These questions aren't just theological abstractions—they strike at the heart of what it means to be a Christian. When Paul wrote to the Galatians, he confronted a church in crisis. New believers were being told they needed to follow Jewish ceremonial laws alongside their faith in Christ. Paul's response was unequivocal: salvation comes through grace alone, received by faith alone. The apostle opens his letter by establishing his divine appointment—not from men or through human agency, but directly from Jesus Christ and God the Father. This powerful claim sets the stage for understanding both Paul's authority and the divine nature of Christ, who stands not as a mere man but as equal with the Father. We explore how the law functions as a mirror, revealing our sinfulness without providing any means of cleansing. It serves as a schoolmaster leading us to Christ by exposing our desperate need for something we cannot accomplish ourselves—reconciliation with a holy God. This understanding revolutionized Martin Luther's thinking and sparked the Protestant Reformation. The distinction between living under law versus grace remains profoundly relevant today. Many Christians unconsciously blend the two approaches, creating a burden Jesus never intended his followers to carry. True freedom comes not from perfect rule-following but from resting in Christ's finished work.Join us as we begin our journey through this transformative letter that challenges us to examine whether we're truly living in the freedom Christ purchased or unconsciously slipping back into spiritual bondage. Your understanding of grace might never be the same again.Personalized Cancer Treatment Center in USAWe treat you—not just your illness—with personalized, integrative care, love, and support.Support the show

Send us a textThe simplicity of Christ's gospel is constantly under threat from those who would complicate, distort, or add to it. We explore this tension between the pure message of salvation and the myriad of false teachings that have plagued Christianity since its earliest days. What strikes many as remarkable is how eager believers are to debate complex theological concepts like Calvinism, cessationism, and apostolic succession while struggling to articulate the fundamental gospel message. When asked "What is the gospel?" many launch into lengthy explanations that somehow miss mentioning Christ crucified for our sins. This disconnect reveals a troubling pattern of prioritizing theological sophistication over gospel clarity. We tackle head-on the question of Christ's kingdom, challenging the popular notion that the Kingdom of God is purely future rather than present reality. If Jesus isn't currently King, what is He? The logical inconsistencies in delay-focused eschatology become apparent when examined through Scripture. Unlike every earthly empire that has risen and fallen, Christ's kingdom continues to grow despite opposition. As one participant powerfully stated, "Christians are invincible until the Lord calls us home."False teachings throughout church history share common traits—they typically introduce "new revelations" that contradict established Scripture, often delivered through special messengers or angels. From Mormonism's strange origins to modalism's confusion of the Trinity's persons, these teachings fail the test of biblical consistency. Paul warned the Galatians that any alteration to the gospel message produces "another gospel," which is no gospel at all.The discussion culminates in highlighting penal substitutionary atonement as the diamond of our salvation—the apex of Christianity. When fully understood, this central truth about Christ giving himself "for our sins to deliver us from this present evil world" serves as an anchor against doctrinal drift and false teaching.Ready to strengthen your foundation in the true gospel? What happens when we truly grasp the extraordinary value of our closest relationships? Jesse Cope opens this powerful episode with a mathematical revelation: out of approximately four billion potential spouses in the world, we've been entrusted with just one. This staggering perspective transforms how we should view marriage—as a precious, irreplaceable gift rather than something we take for granted while chasing entertainment, careers, or social media dopamine hits. The conversation shifts to fundamental questions about America's identity and direction. Drawing from historical documents and forgotten wisdom, Jesse challenges the popular notion that political centrism represents some elevated moral position. "There is no magic middle ground," he argues, echoing former Senate chaplain Peter Marshall's stark assessment that "it's either Christ or chaos." This observation extends beyond individual faith to our national trajectory.Particularly moving is the episode's exploration of religious persecution that drove so many Europeans to America's shores. Reading from Fox's Book of Martyrs, Jesse recounts harrowing stories of Christians tortured and killed—not for rejecting Christ but for refusing to embrace man-made religious traditions that contradicted Scripture. These accounts serve as powerful reminders of why religious liberty was so central to America's founding and why it remains worth defending today. The final segment offers practical guidance for listeners feeling overwhelmed by national challenges. Jesse introduces the concept of "spheres of influence"—the idea that regardless of your station in life, you have relationships where you can practice virtue, strengthen faith, and encourage others. From raising children who understand biblical principles to supporting local institutions and building community resilience, these seemingly small actions collectively shape our culture.Whether you're concerned about America's spiritual condition, seeking to strengthen your marriage, or simply trying to live faithfully in challenging times, this episode provides both the historical context and practical wisdom to navigate with purpose and conviction. Bible Reading: Romans 12:3-5"I want to play first base this year, and Coach Nichols won't let me!" said Quincy. "He says I'll help the team more if I play right field." He frowned. "The guys have a saying about right field. They say, 'right field equals left out,' because the ball never gets hit to that side of the outfield.""Now, hold on! That's just not true!" said Dad. "A good right fielder often makes important plays--and I know you'll be a good one." But nothing Dad said could convince Quincy that right field was a good position for him.The next day, Quincy helped his father plant geraniums in the front yard. "Maybe we could get some of those bushes with white flowers we saw when we hiked up Mount Major," said Quincy. "They'd look nice here with the geraniums."Dad shook his head. "Those plants grow well in higher elevations, but I don't think they'd do well down here. God didn't intend for all plants to thrive in the same location. Each species has its own spot in the plant kingdom. That principle applies to people too. God has blessed every one of us with the talents we need to do the best job in the special spot He's put us in."Dad smiled at Quincy. "For example, God gave you one of the strongest throwing arms on your baseball team. That's important for a right fielder, so give it a chance. Perhaps God has a special lesson He wants you to learn by playing right field on your ball team.""What lesson could there be in that?" asked Quincy. "Maybe God wants you to see that every person on a team is important," said Dad. "That's true for baseball, and it's also true for another team you're on--Jesus's team of all those who trust in Him. God gave every Christian an important part to play in caring for other members of Christ's team and sharing His love with those who don't know Him. Without each person's important role, the whole team suffers--just like your baseball team won't do as well if you refuse to play right field."Quincy sighed. "Okay," he said after a moment. "Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means Son of Encouragement), sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles' feet." Now, notice Joseph becomes Barnabas, The Encourager. We read about him on several occasions in the book of Acts, not the least of which is when he came with Saul of Tarsus, who had just come to Christ. Now, remember, Saul had been persecuting the church. He was like public enemy number one for the Christians. But, "When Saul came to Jerusalem, (Acts says) he tried to join the disciples, and they were all afraid of him. But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles." This is the kind of thing Barnabas does throughout his ministry. He goes on to encourage new Gentile believers in Antioch, and nobody's quite sure about them. He rehabilitates Mark when Paul fires him. The point is, the apostles called Joseph an encourager, and he just kept living up to what they called him. That's a principle of human behavior. We tend to become the name we're called. That airline seems to know that, "Through these doors pass the greatest employees in the world." If you call them that, maybe they'll live up to it. That means you have at your disposal a powerful tool for building people, or a destructive weapon for tearing them down. For example, what names do you call your son or daughter? How many times have you said stupid, or lazy, or rebel, or problem? Well, you're programming them with ideas about themselves, and they may then go on to just prove you right. Think about what you've called your husband or wife lately, or that person who frustrates you - that person who's so irritating, so negative. You can help change a person if you'll look for their strengths and tell them what you see. Call them that good thing. Find a name you can use to bring out their best. Maybe that person, for all of their weaknesses, all of their negativeness, maybe they're obnoxious, but are they generous? Maybe they're sensitive, they fight for their family. Maybe they're a person of conviction; they're organized. Maybe they have a great smile, or a great spirit, or a budding talent. Would you tell them what you see? Would they make a great Christian if they turned their mind and talents toward Christ? Sometimes I've said that to people. "You know what, you would make a great follower of Jesus." Then they look surprised and I tell them their qualities that would make them a great follower of His. "With a mind like yours, with a gift like yours, oh what a follower of Christ you would be!" Tell the people around you who they could be with the strengths that they have, even if you only see a little bit of it. Because by naming it, you can nurture it. Look at those people close to you as if they were wearing a big old sign that says, "I'll become what you call me."

Let's discuss is the vindictive, malicious, even vicious coworkers who are openly trying to cause you problems and do you harm. The first thing you need to understand is these people are in a world of hurt! They won't admit it, but you can be certain they are miserable. It could be their hostile behavior is caused by the light and salt that emanates from you. You know, Jesus told us men love darkness, and if our lights are shining as they should, we will discover some people not only run from it, they fight it. Have you really stopped to think about what Peter is telling us when said: To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps (1 Peter 2:21). The only way you can learn to accept unjust suffering is to constantly remind yourself that by doing so, you have an opportunity to share in Jesus' suffering, which gives you the great privilege of learning to follow in his steps. Think about it: When you are going through tough waters, you feel very close to someone who's been there before you. When you have an opportunity to taste the kind of suffering Jesus drank fully for us, then you know him better. And that in turn brings his resurrection power into our lives. We've been talking about difficult coworkers, as though the problem is always with the other person and never with us Christians. How I wish that were true, but I know better because I know me! It would do us all good to take a close look and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us if we're guilty of any of these difficult characteristics in our relationships with our coworkers. Peter wrote our lives should be above reproach so when others try to find something bad to say about us, they have to manufacture it! I am reminded of what Jesus said to his disciples when they were having difficulty getting along with each other: If you want to be first in my kingdom, you have to be a servant (Matthew 20:26). A servant heart is the sum total of what we've been saying here. As difficult as that is at times, it's much easier than doing it our way. And the benefits we reap are eternal ones. Let's go for it.

In today's episode, Daniel Rogers interviews Tom Wadsworth concerning his doctoral level research on the early Christian assemblies. Contrary to what most Christians assume, the New Testament never actually talks about a worship service. For those of us raised within the Churches of Christ, this means there is no biblical pattern for a mandatory worship service with five ritualistic acts. Instead, the early church gathered to encourage one another and to build each other up. In the show notes below, you'll find access to Tom's website and YouTube channel along with a self-guided study on "worship" in the New Testament that will take you through five important Greek words.    Tom's Website: www.tomwadsworth.com  Tom's YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/@tomwadsworth Self-Guided Word Study on Worship: https://danielr.net/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Worship-Service-Self-Guided-Study.pdf    For my articles, podcasts, and videos, you can use the following links:  Blog: https://danielcrogers.substack.com Website: https://danielr.net  Podcast: https://danielr.net/podcasts  Free Downloads: https://danielcrogers.gumroad.com/  Church: https://northbroadal.com YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@DanielRogers

Mary Whitehouse successfully sued Gay News and publisher Denis Lemon at the Old Bailey in a trial that began on 11th July, 1977 - Britain's last conviction for blasphemy. What had ired the notorious Christian campaigner was the magazine's publication of “The Love That Dares to Speak Its Name”, a poem by James Kirkup written from the perspective of a Roman centurion who graphically describes having sex with Jesus after his crucifixion. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly explain why the poem literally could not be defended on its artistic merit; reveal how it came to Whitehouse's attention in the first place; and consider the literary potency of ‘Foxy Judas'...  Content Warning: explicit poetry, necrophilia, material likely to offend Christians. Today David looks at how today’s “climate of opinion” can cause Christians to be deceived into thinking Christian lawyers and legislators are employing a Christian view of law. It will also help us see that Christians unjustifiably thought progress toward a Christian worldview was being made when, on June 18th, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of Tennessee’s law prohibiting medical interventions to treat a minor’s gender dysphoria.Support the show: https://www.factennessee.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged" (Matthew 7:1). What did Jesus really mean by that? Does this mean Christians should never call out sin or hold others accountable? Fr. Mike Schmitz breaks down this often-misunderstood teaching of Jesus. He explains that while we're called not to condemn others' hearts or souls, we are called to discern right from wrong. The key? Start with humility. Fr. Mike urges us to examine ourselves first, approach others with curiosity instead of condemnation, and always lead with compassion.
