In this episode of Info Product Mastery, we’ll discuss whether or not building a community helps sell info products and online education courses Topics covered [00:32] This week's featured listener review. [01:01] Today’s topic comes from a listener, Misha Manulis. “Just found your podcast via Startups For The Rest Of Us podcast. Loved your PyImageSearch site when I was learning OpenCV years ago.I'm curious about your thoughts / experience with building a community around info products. My goal with looking at this is to understand how to build a community as part of a series of info products. I'm in the middle of building an online school for IoT. I'm frustrated with the industry and its failures over the last 10 years. I want to share my knowledge and experience building IoT products for hobby, B2B and B2C markets. There is so much snake oil and marketing, I want people to have the tools to build their own or to understand what they're buyingMy intuition says that a community around this content would be incredibly valuable in accomplishing these goals.Would love to "hear" any and all thoughts / feedback you can share.” [02:20] “If content is kind, then community is king.” - Adrian [03:02] If you are creating high quality content, then your listeners or readers are going to learn from you. But what happens when they have completed all their goals? [03:22] It’s important to build a relationship with your audience. To build “super customers.” [03:44] The personal connection with your customers is very important. Adrian explains how to do that. [04:28] “People don’t buy brands, they buy the transformation.” - Adrian [05:01] Community is also helpful with supporting your info products. As you grow, you will get customers asking questions about what they are learning and how they can apply it. [05:57] Adrian believes it’s your responsibility as an educator and a mentor to help as much as you reasonably can without doing the work for your customers. [06:05] If you want to build a community, you have to put some time in. However, as the business grows, you will receive more support questions, which can be a burden. Adrian discusses how to deal with this. [06:54] Adrian talks about super customers and how they can help you build community and why that is a good sign. [07:49] It’s key to participate in the community around your info products and support, and also to

Is it possible for the company formerly known as Facebook to be a force for good? There are some bright spots. NOTE: For a full transcript of the conversation, go to https://tonyloyd.com/emily-dalton-smith If you want to hear bad news about Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, you don't have to look far. And, there's plenty of bad news to find. If you're interested in reading more about that, just Google the phrase Facebook Papers. But, for me, there's a more interesting question. Can Meta be a force for good? Is it possible? As you know, here at Social Entrepreneur, our motto is “We tell positive stories from underrepresented voices, focused on solutions.” I admire models such as Solutions Journalism, where journalists ask the question, “Who does it better?” And I love appreciative inquiry, where leaders take a strengths-based approach. I would also recommend Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard by Chip and Dan Heath. The point of all of these approaches is, look for the bright spots. Look for what is working and spread that around. If you know my story, you know that I was a corporate executive. I was bothered by big questions that drove me to leave my career and learn about social entrepreneurs. Social entrepreneurs use the power of business to do social good. I believe, if we are going to save humanity, we cannot depend on government agencies and nonprofits to do the work required. Their work is necessary but insufficient. Every business must look at its impact, both positive and negative. We must find the positive effects of our companies and amplify that. Let me be clear. To make the kind of impact needed, companies cannot work around the edges. If ExxonMobil plops a solar panel on top of their headquarters, they cannot declare victory and go home. We have to rethink our business models fundamentally. And positive change requires third-party verification. That's why I'm such a fan of certified B Corporations. In today's interview, Emily Dalton Smith, Vice President of Product Management at Meta, describes how Meta is creating a positive social impact. She talks about Crisis Response, Charitable Giving, Community Help, Health, Mentorship, COVID-19 Information Center, and the Voting Information Center.
ONE THING Faithful each day in every way. That is the goal, closeness to God demonstrated by Christlikeness and guided by the Holy Spirit. Ezra 3:1-3 CONTEXT A faithful heart that loves God can live free from uncertainty. If you seek God's delight from morning to night. Would you rather read an owner's manual on how to setup your phone or just start using it and figure it out along the way? Why does it make sense to leave the problems and pleasures of our homes to gather for worship? He is worthy, He created us, saves our souls from death, sustains us and provides for us. Why are public displays of faith in God so important? So others will have the opportunity to know how great is our God. How can we have certainty in an uncertain world? By being in glad submission to God, through Jesus being saved by grace through faith and faithfully being comforted and guided by the Holy Spirit. Based on this message what can you do to become more like Jesus? Gospel- Centered = WORSHIP Daily make the trip from home to God's throne. Consider the morning and night time as right times to approach God. COMMUNITY Help others find a church to call home. As you live each day help others find their way to worship God. SERVICE Reveal how God has helped you through the struggles. Talk about the hard fought victories of God in your life. MULTIPLICATION Move through fearfulness by being faithful to God. Invite others to join in the journey from uncertainty to glad submission to God.

In this episode, Deborah talks about the mental space she was in after having 5 kids under the age of 6. She shares how she struggled with postpartum depression and during this time, how things got really dark and she even contemplated living. Deborah was constantly filled with anger and rage. She talks about how scary it was to reach out for help for the fear of losing her children. To add to that fear, the help that was offered was not an approach that she wanted to try. She talks about how her experience living through and treating her mental illness motivated her to go to school at 37. She shares her vision of what community service looks like and how she is working to create a compassionate approach within her own endeavours.Deborah Gregson is the Executive Director and Founder of HeARTh Social Profit Company and the founder and CEO of DMG Do More Good Social Benefit Housing and Community Development Corporation. She is a wife, mother and grandmother. She is an artist, singer songwriter, renovator, mover and shaker, and a systems-oriented servant leader. Much of her art and music and her passion for community development comes from her healing journey from mental illness and the truths and insights she earned along the way. Deborah Gregson decided to get a counselling degree after battling with mental illness and through her own recovery she realized how difficult it is for human beings to move past illness when the systems they live and work in are not equipped to help them move into wellness. So, she changed her focus from one on one counseling to community development and systems transformation. She has worked in the field of community mental health and supports for a few years, trying to help build that community of care she knows is needed, and believes is possible.Find out more about Do More GoodDeborah's MusicFollow Candace on Instagram
The Bangkok Podcast | Conversations on Life in Thailand's Buzzing Capital
Things are not so great right now, and they're even more desperate for people who live on the edge, which is why we're pleased to chat with Friso Poldervaart, Greg Lange, and Kerv Chittaropas about their organization Bangkok Community Help. The three are instrumental in providing the community of over 100,000 with food, medical supplies, living essentials and care packages in Khlong Toey, Bangkok's biggest slum community. The discussion gets into the history of Khlong Toey, how the English word ‘slum' does the people who live there a disservice, and the intricacies, difficulties, and triumphs of giving people a helping hand amid Thailand's complicated lattice of permissions and regulations. And of course all of this becomes exponentially more difficult - and necessary - in the midst of Covid-19. From cooking food to buying ambulances to painting bare concrete, Bangkok Community Help is putting charity first to help the underprivileged in Bangkok, and our guests give listeners an up close view of what it's like. To donate to Bangkok Community Help, click here. Don't forget that Patrons get the ad-free version of the show as well as swag and other perks. Today we bring you a show in 3 parts: For part one, we talk to Mike Moreau, a runner who is looking for ways to expand the running community to make it more inclusive for everyone. For part two we talk to Dr. Julianne Holt-Lunstad, a professor of psychology and neuroscience, about how social relationships impact our health. Becky and I talk about Zach's story, the decisions they made, and the different ways that God has walked with them at every step. We discuss why community is so important and how it is that they can continue to serve after the loss of Zach. The Getz's blog about Zach's Journey:Remembered By GodSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/journeyofruth)
