Toward the end of our last conversation with Grant Morrison, they mentioned how they would soon be returning to comics, writing a new Batman story. We were ecstatic to hear, but we could not have possibly imagined that the new Batman story would actually be a DC/Marvel Comics crossover featuring the Hollywood darling Deadpool. Even better, it's a reunion between Morrison and his Klaus collaborator, Dan Mora, which also features numerous backup stories by other rad creators, including Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, Joshua Williamson, Hayden Sherman, Tom Taylor, Bruno Redondo, Amanda Conner, G. Willow Wilson, and Denys Cowan. The comic is possibly the most surprising book of the year, but not as surprising as Morrison's willingness to return to the show for an in-depth discussion all about it. You're in for another treat, friends. Our Grant Morrison Batman/Deadpool conversation is full-spoilers. You must read the comic before pressing play. If you read the book quickly, as our Brad did the first time, you'll probably miss a great deal. The comic is crammed with Easter eggs and winks, many of which we eventually caught, and a few others we did not until Grant Morrison pointed them out to us. Dan Mora and Grant Morrison's Batman/Deadpool is very different from Greg Capullo and Zeb Wells' Deadpool/Batman, which Marvel ran point on a few weeks ago. It's a fun adventure, but it's also a story commenting on comics, crossovers, and the writer/reader's relationship with the fourth wall. Initially, the team-up between Batman and Deadpool felt a little cynical, and/or capitalistic - and it's still that! However, given Grant Morrison's relationship with Animal Man and smashing the fourth wall, Deadpool is kind of the perfect character for them. Batman/Deadpool also allows Grant Morrison to right a wrong that occurred in the pages of...well, read the comic first, will ya? Dear listeners, welcome to Grant Morrisoin's Revenge! We get into it with The Writer, discussing their initial idea for the crossover, their evolving relationship with the fourth wall, and what they hope for future DC and Marvel crossovers. Batman/Deadpool #1 is out now from DC Comics. “The Cosmic Kiss Caper” is written by Grant Morrison, illustrated by Dan Mora, colored by Alejandro Sánchez, and lettered by Todd Klein. If you wish to continue this conversation with Morrison, follow them on their Website, Substack, Instagram, and Bluesky. Today on the podcast Michael and a very coughy Jong are joined by an og of Comicast lore, David Ramon (longtime listeners may remember the highly touted segment David Does Comics). David jumps on with the guys to discuss the news that Skylar Gisondo will be leading a Jimmy Olsen spinoff series. What do the guys think? What type of tone can we expect now that we know who the creators of the show will be? Is this a TV-MA or TV-14 situation? How does Gorilla Grodd fit into this? The guys answer those questions and more! The trio also dicuss The Wrap's report that Brainiac will be the villain that forces Luthor and Superman to team up, James Gunn saying that Darkseid isn't the big bad, and finally, who's taking up the mantle in future Black Panther films now that Ryan Coogler confirms that he's working on Black Panther 3. Show notes provided by Joe PelusoWE DID IT!! Your "crisis crew" of James, Keith, Richie, and Joe havesuccessfully navigated the madness of the multiverse and completedtheir review of "Crisis on Infinite Earths".The twelve chapter event, that changed fifty years of DC Comics history, was the challengingassignment that the guys undertook to put their insightful spin on amonumental classic story. Worlds lived and died, new characters wereintroduced, while some old ones went away for a long time. Chaoticbattles, base betrayals, power, pathos, and peril all came to the forein a saga that left the comic book reading world stunned andsurprised. While changes were made it wasn't a total housing cleaning, butmore of a cosmic rearranging of the furniture. The Monitor, The AntiMonitor, the new Dr. Light, Alexander Luthor, Harbinger and othersburst on the scene. But the stakes were so high that Barry Allen, KaraZor-El, Wonder Woman, and many others did not make it out alive. Magicmet super science, and super-heroics aligned with vile villainy all inan attempt to save creation across the multiverse. When the dust hadsettled, new heroes rose up to take on the mantles of beloved iconswho had perished. A troubled teen became a man to carry on his uncle'slegacy, and thus Wally West became The Flash. A new Earth had emergedfrom the cosmological chaos, but still a world in need of heroes. Whatfollowed shortly in DC's publishing line were a spate of new seriesthat delineated the landscape of this "brave new world". But was everything now set in stone, were the pieces in all theright places? Those questions and more were tackled by your hosts, asthey (like the survivors of this "crisis") struggled a bit with thenew status quo. But when talented creatives like George Perez and MarvWolman are involved in epic storytelling, does it really matter if allthe toys don't make it back into one box? If you have never read C.O.I.E., we sincerely hope our audaciousanalysis will spur you on to pick it up, and join us in the pleasureof reading the greatest comic book event of all time!

Farewell General Zod, you were quite the idiot!Clark now has the Book of Rao, but only to find out it will teleport every Kryptonian to their "paradise" world to start fresh. Since that includes Clark, he decides to lead his people to their new lives and has to say goodbye to his loved ones. Chloe gets pissed, Oliver doesn't care, and Lois gets told she needs to pick Africa over love. BUT, before Clark can do anything, Zod and his Kandorians begin committing gang violence across the globe because that's how you take over the world (apparently). Britt Irvin, Michael Shanks and Alaina Huffman all return as DC Comics original characters Courtney Whitmore ("Stargirl"), Carter Hall ("Hawkman") and Dinah Lance ("Black Canary"), respectively. Phil Morris and Lee Thompson Young make their final appearances as DC Comics original characters John Jones (“Martian Manhunter”) and Victor Stone (“Cyborg”), respectively. As always, enjoy the show and LEAVE THOSE FIVE STARS!

In this 2016 conversation, acclaimed comics historian Bill Schelly takes us deep into the life and legacy of Otto Binder, one of the most influential — and too often overlooked — writers in the history of American comics and science fiction. Schelly discusses his expanded biography, Otto Binder: The Life and Work of a Comic Book and Science Fiction Visionary, and lays out why Binder's fingerprints are all over the Golden and Silver Age. We cover:Binder's prolific run on Shazam!/Captain Marvel in the 1940sThe creation of Mary Marvel, the Marvel Family, and Mr. Tawny the Talking TigerHow Binder built classic villains like Mister Mind and crafted the landmark Monster Society of Evil sagaHis leap to DC Comics in the 1950s, where he co-created Supergirl, The Legion of Super-Heroes, the Bottled City of Kandor, and helped reshape the Superman mythosBinder's parallel career in science fiction, and how his SF instincts informed his storytelling across both mediumsWhy his influence still resonates with modern superhero comicsThis is a must-listen for anyone who cares about comics history, forgotten giants of the medium, and the creators who quietly built the universes we all take for granted. ► SUBSCRIBE for more deep-dive interviews, comic history talks, and archival creator conversations.

This week, we continue our series of creators we are thankful for as Zach and Mike dive into the Absolute Batman Annual #1, featuring a powerful new story written and illustrated by Daniel Warren Johnson (Do a Powerbomb, Wonder Woman: Dead Earth). Zach breaks down why Johnson's gritty, kinetic art and storytelling make this one of the most striking Batman tales in years. A raw, violent, and deeply human look at what justice means in a broken world. Along the way, the guys talk about Batman as a man of the people, how DWJ balances chaos with compassion, and why his work always manages to punch you in the heart. Then, they revisit one of Johnson's earlier works. The Superman: Red & Blue short story that proves even the Man of Steel's greatest power might be love, empathy, and a good Kansas dad. Things get personal as Zach and Mike reflect on fatherhood, legacy, and the messages that shape who we become. It's an episode that mixes laughs, deep comic talk, and genuine emotion. Everything that makes Bros, Foes, and Heroes what it is. Life 2.0: Love, Loss and Second Chances Each of us has experienced some sort of grief in our lifetimes. We often think of grief as death but there's grief in divorce, leaving your family home, moving to a new location, even in losing dreams or versions of ourselves. In this episode we are joined by Melissa Stein, creator of My Life 2.0 to hear her story of loss, renewal and second chances. With more than 30 years in entertainment publicity and brand storytelling, Melissa Stein has spent her career helping some of the world's most beloved franchises connect with audiences. As Vice President, Publicity for TV, Animation & Originals at Warner Bros., she oversaw campaigns across TV, Genre, Family, and Animation, including Warner Bros. Animation, DC Comics, Hanna-Barbera, and LEGO. Now, she is channeling that same storytelling instinct into her next act: My Life 2.0, a lifestyle blog and community for women starting over in midlife. It's there that she shares her reinvention journey with humor and heart covering everything from love and loss to motherhood, fashion and the gadgets that make life a little easier. Whether in the boardroom or on the blog, Stein's mission remains the same, to connect, inspire, and remind us it's never too late for a reboot. Third time's the charm ! Total THB has always felt like a living piece of your imagination—something that evolved alongside you. Now that you're returning to it after thirty years, what does it mean to finally see it presented as the definitive version you always envisioned?7. In your introduction, you mention artists like Bruegel, Motherwell, and Rodin alongside Kirby, Moebius, and Miyazaki. That's a fascinating cross-section of influences—how do you see Total THB sitting at the intersection of those worlds now?2. In your introduction, you talk about the seed idea—“small things exploding into big things.” How has that core concept shaped your storytelling and visual philosophy across your entire career, and how does it feel to return to it now with decades of experience behind you?8. Total THB is set on a divided Mars, a world of art versus bureaucracy, chaos versus control. Given how global politics and culture have evolved since the '90s, do you see new relevance—or new warnings—in the story's setting and themes?5. The relationship between HR and THB—the sheltered daughter and her enigmatic bodyguard—feels both intimate and mythic. How do you see their dynamic now, and what new layers do you hope readers discover in this remastered edition?6. You've described superheroes before as modern myths — figures that blend pulp with poetry. Having moved between corporate superhero universes and your own creator-owned worlds, what do you think mainstream superhero comics could still learn from the spirit of self-publishing that birthed THB*?*
