San Diego Comic-Con delivered one of the biggest news weekends of the year, and we're digging into all of it on this week's AIPT Comics Podcast. We break down DC's latest Next Level announcements, including new ongoing series for Vixen, Static, Batman, The Demon, and Jonah Hex, react to Marvel's Predator vs. Punisher, unpack Christian Ward's newly announced Pandemonium, and even talk about Ryan Gosling's surprising Ghost Rider reveal. If it made headlines at SDCC, we're giving it the full AIPT treatment. After that, David sits down with Christian Ward to discuss Forever Home, his ambitious new Oni Press series with Sami Kivelä. Ward explains how the story grew from a simple yet unforgettable premise: a house that survives climate collapse by falling outside of time, where every 20 minutes inside equals a year in the outside world. The conversation explores the book's emotional family drama, its retro-futuristic design, climate anxiety, billionaire bunkers, and why Kivelä's storytelling elevates every page. Ward also reflects on balancing writing and art, teases what's next in his career, and shares why Forever Home is one of his most personal creator-owned projects to date. Visit our Patreon page to see the various tiers you can sign up for today to get in on the ground floor of AIPT Patreon. We hope to see you chatting with us on our Discord soon! Marvel Studios has finally dropped the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and there's A LOT to unpack! In this episode of SuperHero Homies, we break down every major reveal, hidden detail, Easter egg, theory, and shocking moment from the brand-new Avengers: Doomsday trailer. From Doctor Doom's mysterious plan to Thor's long-awaited return as a serious leader, we're diving deep into everything Marvel Studios has shown us and what it could mean for the future of the MCU. Is Steve Rogers really back... or are we looking at an evil multiversal variant? Could an evil Captain America actually wield Mjolnir? What are Incursions, and why are they so important to Marvel Comics and the Multiverse Saga? We answer all of those questions and much more. In This Episode We Discuss: Our full Avengers: Doomsday trailer reaction Doctor Doom's possible motivations and master plan Why Thor finally feels like a true leader again Steve Rogers' shocking appearance Is this the real Captain America or a Variant? Could an evil Steve Rogers lift Mjolnir? Marvel Comics history behind that possibility What Incursions are and why they're so dangerous Hidden Easter eggs throughout the trailer Characters that are noticeably absent Which heroes and villains we still expect to appear The trailer's biggest action scenes Our favorite moments Our biggest concerns Is Marvel relying on nostalgia... or building something genuinely special? While we're incredibly excited for Avengers: Doomsday, we also discuss the possibility that Marvel Studios could be leaning a little too heavily into nostalgia. Can the MCU deliver another Avengers: Endgame-level event, or will this become another example of fan service outweighing storytelling? We explore both sides of the debate. BONUS DISCUSSION: Clayface Trailer Before wrapping up, we also react to the brand-new Clayface trailer from DC Studios! We discuss: Clayface's comic book origin Why we're excited about the body horror direction The revenge-driven story How faithful the movie appears to be Why Clayface could become one of DC's biggest surprises Between Avengers: Doomsday and Clayface, comic book fans have a lot to look forward to, and we can't wait to see where both Marvel Studios and DC Studios go next. Aquatic basketball moves! Blue collar despair! Tonal collapses! A guy named Sixpack! Lots of random tubes! Cool clunky dive suits! Angry computer use! Disastrous butter-handling! One of the biggest comics announcements of San Diego Comic-Con was the reveal that Matthew Rosenberg will become the next ongoing writer of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and this week he's here for his first in-depth interview about the series. Rosenberg opens up about initially turning down the job before IDW came calling a second time, why his run is inspired by the raw energy of the original Mirage comics, and how he plans to put the turtles through a relentless fight across New York City. We also discuss his love of Eastman and Laird's work, collaborating with artist Juann Cabal, bringing forgotten characters back into the spotlight, and why this story will embrace every corner of TMNT history while carving out its own identity. Those are some massive touchstones. What qualities from those stories became your creative north star for this new era of TMNT? Your story begins immediately after Gene Luen Yang's "The City That Never Dies" storyline, which sounds like it leaves the city fundamentally changed. How did Gene Luen Yang's finale create opportunities that wouldn't have existed otherwise? One of the biggest hooks is that the Turtles are being hunted over the course of a single night. What made that compressed timeline appealing, and how does it change the pacing compared to a more traditional TMNT story? You said the team hunting the Turtles is assembled specifically for this mission. Without spoiling who's involved, what makes this group uniquely equipped to challenge all four brothers at once? 10:59 Juann Cabal has shown he can handle kinetic action and expressive character work across Marvel and DC. What is it about his storytelling you're excited to see in TMNT?  You've mentioned your love for Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's Mirage Studios era. Were there specific themes or storytelling techniques from those early comics that you wanted to bring back for modern readers? Your comics often balance brutal action with sharp humor and strong character voices. How do you approach writing the Turtles so each brother feels distinct, especially when they're under constant pressure? You've written everything from street-level crime stories to huge superhero events. Where does TMNT fit creatively for you, and does it scratch a different storytelling itch than books like What's the Furthest Place From Here? or your Marvel work? You're taking over with issue #25, which already feels like a milestone. Looking ahead, what do you hope readers say about your TMNT run after they've finished that first story arc? For years, Aquaman was one of DC Comics' most misunderstood heroes, weighed down by outdated stereotypes and pop culture jokes. Then Geoff Johns completely reinvented the King of Atlantis with a critically acclaimed run that restored Arthur Curry as one of DC's greatest icons. In this video, we break down how Geoff Johns' Aquaman transformed the character, from embracing the classic jokes to rebuilding Atlantis, introducing memorable new villains like the Trench, redefining Aquaman's relationships, and reminding readers why he belongs alongside Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman as one of DC's premier heroes. We also discuss the lasting impact of Johns' run on modern Aquaman stories and why it remains the definitive starting point for new readers. If you're a fan of DC Comics, Aquaman, or comic book history, this is a discussion you won't want to miss.Thank you so much for watching and be sure to share the stream! After new reporting that the long-discussed Nova project may be moving forward as a feature film instead of a TV series, sales jumped hard, with raw copies selling for as much as $130.We also talk about NEO Comic Con, plus a little Show & Tell, Viewer Mail, and new Member shoutouts. For the 25 Year Rule, we dig into ORION #19 from DC Comics, a 2001 Joker: Last Laugh crossover issue where Walter Simonson brings Joker madness crashing into Jack Kirby's Fourth World. It is weird, cheap, very 2001, and still mostly a $3 to $10 raw book. Our Underrated Books of the Week include:DIE #1 from Image Comics, the Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans fantasy horror hit often described as “Goth Jumanji,” with CGC 9.8s still surprisingly affordable.DAREDEVIL #191, Frank Miller's brutal "Russian Roulette” issue, with Daredevil confronting a hospitalized Bullseye in one of the darkest single-issue stories of Miller's original run.Support the show by becoming a channel Member. The original Supergirl debuted in DC Comics' Action Comics #252 in May 1959, the very first live-action adaptation, the feature film Supergirl, starring Helen Slater, was released in theaters in 1984 which saw Kara, superman's cousin from Krypton who goes to earth herself in order to recover the lost Omega Hedron which is a power source for the planet .............. so its been a while for a live-action take of the Madain of might you might say. Over the decades there have been various uses of Supergirl, most notably the CW take on the character when they were doing ALL those Arrowverse shows at the time, where Melissa Benoist starred as Kara Danvers (Kara Zor-El) in the hit superhero television series Supergirl, which aired on The CW from 2016 to 2021 Now HERE WE ARE coming off the heels of SUPERMAN 2025, and we have the second film from DC Studios, certainly and 'interesting' choice for your second film out of the gate (as some people thought), Nah I'm sorry gang THAT title still belongs to DC's next film CLAYFACE, gee a BATMAN villian solo film with (as far as WE know) NOT a BATMAN in sight, that sounds vaguely familiar .................. but hey we will get to THAT in October  SUPERMAN 2025 felt %100 percent like it was ripped right from the pages of the comic book, but it was EXACTLY a return to the core to what SUPERMAN is, and the point of SUPERMAN, and (most importantly), the reliability of SUPERMAN, which lets be HONEST has not really been struck on the BIG SCREEN since Christopher Reeve, looking back on it through the lens of our cinematic movie year 2026, history was written LOL LOL LOL LOL hahahahahaha the DC brand had begun its collective healing. Course WE would assume ALL is well then going from here On the latest episode of Injustice vs Elesworlds Podcasters of BOTH Worlds, your hosts David Senden and Kyle Wagner talk SUPERGIRL 2026, the GOOD, the BAD, the DISCOURSE of it ALL, and hey THAT got terribly TRAGICALLY overblown, regardless of what thoughts are on the film itself, or its OVERALL impact of the budding DC universe there if only ONE rule ....................... THERE WILL BE NO MILLY ALCOCK SLANDER !!!!!!!!!!!!! Movies. Movies are a beautiful Blink SNAP shot Moment in Time Assessment of where we are culturally, and its TRAGICALLY sad THAT Supergirl is a cautionary tale of that, THAT shouldn't be the case AT ALL A new Injustice vs Elesworlds Podcasters of BOTH Worlds starts RIGHT NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terminal throws readers right into a chaotic, violent world. When you were building the first issue, how did you approach onboarding readers without giving too much away? The book opens with some striking and surreal imagery, especially the eye and the idea of Maculox. What was the origin of that concept, and how central is it to the larger mythology? There's a clear tension between evolution and destruction running through the story. How did you want to frame that conflict without falling into a simple good versus evil dynamic? The first issue makes some bold narrative choices in terms of expectations around who the story might follow. Without getting into spoilers, should readers expect that kind of unpredictability to be a core part of the series? Robert and Joe, how does your collaboration work on a project like this? Are you breaking story together, dividing scripts, or building off each other's strengths in a specific way? Andy, the character designs, especially on the more villainous side, feel really eclectic and distinct. What were your inspirations when developing the look of this world and its characters? There's a bit of a “hidden world” structure here, where a regular person is pulled into something much bigger. What drew you to that kind of setup, and how do you keep it feeling fresh? The series feels like it has big, long-term potential, but also a very focused central idea. Is the plan for Terminal to be a long-running series, or are you working toward a more defined endpoint? For all three of you, what was the moment in developing Terminal where you realized this was something special or different from other superhero books you've worked on or read?

Legendary comics artist Tom Mandrake joins Byron to discuss the release of one of the most iconic, atmospheric, and terrifying runs in DC Comics history, The Spectre (now collected in two Omnibus Editions,) and his new work as series artist finishing up Rick Veitch's run on the Swamp Thing from 1989, a project that has been shelved for decades due to controversy. We kick things off by celebrating the long-awaited hardcover treatment of Tom's masterpiece: The Spectre (with writer John Ostrander). Spanning 62 issues of unmatched supernatural horror, Tom shares behind-the-scenes stories, pushing the boundaries of mainstream DC editorial in the 90s, and utilizing the incredible visual malleability of The Spectre in the book. We also go back to the future to discuss Tom's return to the Swamp Thing. Learn what it was like to step back into his 80s artistic style; help finish Rick Veitch's legendary, once-cancelled run; and collaborate with creators to complete a historic piece of comic book legacy.

*******SPOILER REVIEW*******It's a bird...It's a plane...It's.........Supergirl?!?!Today, the guys get together to talk about the second movie under the new DCU regime of James Gunn and Peter Safran...Supergirl! This movie stars Milly Alcock as the titular Supergirl. In a phase of her life, where she is just trying to have fun and drink away her problems. She is thrown into a fight she never intended to join. When her dog, Krypto, is injured and a young girl Ruthye (played by Eve Ridley) witnesses the death of her entire family, at the hands of the infinitely forgettable villain Krem (played by Matthias Schoenaerts). Also...for some reason Lobo (played by Jason Momoa) is there too.Did the guys like it more than Superman (2025)? Was Lobo just in his own movie all together? And What does James Gunn have against Krypto??? Find out all of that and more, right here!Click here to send us a message! Support the showIf you would please go follow us on all the socials? We dive deep into Absolute Batman, the newly announced animated series, why he believes monthly comics need to embrace what makes the medium unique, and the creative philosophy driving one of comics' biggest successes. It's a candid, wide-ranging discussion on storytelling, the future of superhero comics, and why taking big swings matters more than ever. Visit our Patreon page to see the various tiers you can sign up for today to get in on the ground floor of AIPT Patreon. We hope to see you chatting with us on our Discord soon! Manga storytelling influence Joe Kelly recently mentioned how manga like One Piece can devote entire chapters to a single action sequence, something that's harder to replicate in American comics because of page counts and production realities. Is manga storytelling an influence on your work, and do you find yourself thinking about how to capture that same sense of scale and rhythm within Western comics? 2. Marvel and DC I recently spoke with Josh Williamson about writing Iron Man, and it was fascinating hearing how he's consulting on DC projects while also becoming part of Marvel's plans. Seeing creators move more freely between publishers these days, does that ever make you want to jump back into Marvel for another major project? 3. Harley Quinn and Joker The revelation that Joker is Harley's father completely reframes both characters. What made that the right relationship for the Absolute Universe, and what storytelling opportunities does it create that couldn't exist with their traditional dynamic 4. Designing Gotham's monsters Body horror and transformation have become defining visual elements of Absolute Batman. What are your guiding principles when reinventing characters like Poison Ivy, Clayface, and others while still making them instantly recognizable? 8. Absolute Batman animated series You're serving as showrunner on the newly announced Absolute Batman animated series. How does that creative role differ from making comics, and what has surprised you most about translating this version of Batman to animation? 10. Court of Owls Finally, the Court of Owls has entered the picture. Without spoiling anything, what can readers expect from your take on one of the most important Batman concepts you've ever created?
