In this wild episode, Denver and I dive into our travel adventures filled with unexpected twists and valuable life lessons. From Denver's dreamy yet disastrous trip to Australia—featuring koalas, chlamydia myths, and rental car struggles—to my questionable choices while backpacking through Europe, no stone is left unturned. Takeaways: Travel Builds Resilience: Whether it's losing a passport in Spain or dealing with canceled flights in Australia, travel forces you to think on your feet and stay calm under pressure. Koala Chlamydia is a Thing: Denver's zoo trip led to an unexpected deep dive into whether humans can contract chlamydia from koalas (spoiler alert: they can't…probably). Hostel Life is Not for the Weak: Andrea's experience in Amsterdam highlights the challenges (and questionable decisions) that come with budget travel. Airline Woes Are Universal: Denver's firsthand experience with canceled flights and unhelpful airline policies proves that air travel frustration knows no borders. Always Have a Backup Plan: Whether traveling solo or in a group, it's essential to have a plan for when things inevitably go wrong—because they will. — Want to Learn more about Denver Riley? Because the Lakers are fairly set heading into the 2023-24 season - the primary members of the rotation are more or less set, there are no big controversies, no huge position battles - fans are intensely curious about the one big thing that isn't yet settled:Who's gonna start at small forward?Darvin Ham, not surprisingly, hasn't yet committed to answering that question - they haven't even had three practices or played a preseason game - but different players are getting a chance to audition for that spot. Jarred Vanderbilt, Taurean Prince and Rui Hachimura will all get reps with the named starters (Russell, Reaves, James, Davis). Ham's decision will probably be less about who "wins", and rather which player makes the most sense with that group, and how the choice impacts the rest of the rotation. Which combinations in the second unit would make the most sense? Well, you can't always put those together as easily if one of those dudes is a starter. The good news? Nobody in that crew is going to complain if they're not in the opening five. Hachimura has already made it clear he's much more concerned about finishing games than starting them.Other things to watch: Anthony Davis. His jumper has been receiving a fair amount of attention, with Reaves praising it on one of the many, many podcasts on which he's appeared. The perception is that Davis's outside game has fallen off over the last couple of seasons... but is that really the case? 3-point shooting, for sure, but is that the only thing that matters? Does it really matter anymore if Davis stretches a defense all the way past the arc? It seems like he's a lot less interested in that part of his game, based on shot attempts over the last few seasons. Finally, Denver head coach Michael Malone said Wednesday that he's not paying attention to the Lakers, and hasn't heard what players have been saying about having a little extra interest and motivation to play his Nuggets following all the post-playoffs chatter this summer. From Denver. Mostly from Malone. He was very complimentary towards the Lakers... but is he really being serious?Just another reminder, whether talking about the Lakers or other teams, never ever expect the things they say to motivate their team, frame the challenge or anything similar to actually reflect reality. That's not how this works.HOSTS: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT 1: Who is going to start at small forward?SEGMENT 2: What are the tradeoffs Ham is balancing?SEGMENT 3: AD's jumper and Mike Malone's amnesia.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!IbottaIbotta gives you cash back on hundreds of grocery items from produce to personal care to pantry goods, so you can make sure you're beating inflation no matter what you're purchasing! Fast and Furious action unit director Spiro Razatos shares rags to riches story and how seeing the movie Shaft at age 11 inspired him on his path to becoming a Hollywood Stuntman. Apple Podcasts users full show notes here: https://languageofcreativity.podbean.com/e/spiro-razatos-friendslikefamily-fastandfurious-action Spiro Razatos began his career as a stunt man and quickly worked his way into the Directors Guild of America just by asking. Somehow, on the spot producers gave him his very first sequence directing a car chase! Since then Razatos has 2nd Unit Directed major films such as Venom, Bad Boys II and Bad Boys For Life, films in The Fast and The Furious franchise (Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, Fate of the Furious, F9), and Captain America Winter Soldier, to name a few. From Denver, Colorado and the son of Greek immigrants, young Spiro began training himself to be a stuntman after a fateful day when his dad took him on a Greyhound to visit the zoo. His father, who was also blind had saved for six months for the trip, but they never made it to the zoo. Eleven year old Razatos saw the marquee for the movie Shaq and begged his father to take him to see it… that day. “I started crying and said I don't know, I just need to see it now.” He practiced jumping off of roofs (don't try this at home) and crashing his own bicycles until he was finally able to get a Super Eight movie camera. He'd managed to get his home-made stunt reel onto the set of Heart to Heart, when legendary stunt coordinators Mike Vendrell and Greg Barnett finally called him and told him they would help him come to Hollywood. In this episode we talk about the magic of visual storytelling, the importance of shooting practical stunts and how CG (computer generated elements) can totally ruin the believability of a sequence, why Spiro always hires his own editor (the one he's had his whole career) spending hours at the end of every shooting day to present the sequence to the studio. We talk about his work/life balance and yearly trips to the “ashram” to detox. But most importantly Spiro highlights the importance of having a team of people you know and trust with your life. His stunt team, Team Malaka has been with him for over 30 years, oh yeah, and of course we talk about his favorite “team building activity” playing Call of Duty 2. “They say there is only suffering. Even happiness is just another form of suffering. And I can see that. But what do you do with that knowledge? Do you still go to birthday parties? Do you go on dates? And what do you say? Do you just say ultimately happiness and unhappiness are just the head and tail of the same snake? I don't know if there's a quick and easy solution I can give to that. And if you have one, please hit me up.” - Leon Sandler ACZC's own Leon Sandler takes the hot seat to tell us the story of what he's doing and why he's here. And the best way to do that is when, whether you're pushing out a piece of content or advertisement, it's to not try to sell them.” -Suttida YangClick To Tweet Transcript (Note, this was transcribed using a transcription software and may not reflect the exact words used in the podcast) Tom Poland 00:10 Greetings, everyone, and a very warm welcome to another edition of Marketing the Invisible. This week, George, Pete and Roger share a joint together with two dudes that make the business of getting stoned, dare we say, respectable. We're talking about the cannabis industry in America and all of its, ahem, "highs" and lows. First we have Patrick Ryder. He is the North American Cannabis Practice Leader for HUB International; a top five global risk management brokerage firm. From Denver, CO he has been working with multinational cannabis companies on risk mitigation techniques since the release of the Cole Memorandum paved the way for states to decriminalize adult-use marijuana. Then we have Brian D. Jones who joined Quadscore Insurance Services as the Executive Vice President in 2021. He contributes a wealth of diverse insurance industry experience. His depth of knowledge in handling a broad array of complex operational, regulatory, underwriting, management, and actuarial matters also added value to his previous roles at Hartford Life, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Hartford Investment Management Company, and AXA XL, a division of AXA. Most recently, he was on the front lines of the cannabis insurance market from its infancy in 2017 through its maturation. He developed an underwriting strategy for the cannabis account portfolio and kept his team up to date on changes in the market. Mr. Jones developed a thorough distribution channel of brokers who work with cannabis clients, and he regularly meets with executive-level stakeholders to design solutions and innovative ways to insure their risks. Essentially, Patrick and Brian's resumes are fancy ways of saying that they help (or helped) smoke shops and growers get insured ever since Obama said states can do what they want with weed. We chew on the very beginnings of legal marijuana and its cultural epicenter in Denver, CO, the steady spread of states to follow, the Federal government's role (or lack, thereof...ready to grab half of your stash but won't allow you to take normal deductions like any other "too legit to quit" business can do), the good guys in business (Bay Area rapper Berner who owns the Cookies pot shops), the bad guys (lots of legislative red tape, lack of regulation) and the ugly (those poor bastards that know how to get us really, really stoned but, well, they can't exactly do math). So, load up your cartridge, swallow a few gummies, shake that flower from your grinder, roll your joint, stuff your blunt, pack your pipe and waft through a fast-paced, highly informative, extremely passionate wall of sweet smoke as the Buzzards take another hit from the bong. And remember, folks, if you have any questions or comments about this show or others or have any suggestions for topics and guests, feel free to email us at fivedollarbuzz@gmail.com. It may take a second to get to ya as we sleep one off but, rest assured, we'll be there, our friends.
Sleepy and Agent009 sit down and discuss the happenings around the NBA and who is pushing all their chips in. From Denver who made real strides to get better in a much more open west, while Miami seems to have the same mind set in the east. However its not only them that's a buyer this yea the Bulls also made some moves to acquire more talent I personally don't see Zach LaVine staying in Chicago so this was a head scratcher but there's much more to talk about this season so relax and enjoy. "I'm done, I'll quit my job and move to the forest", that's exactly what Kalle Flodin did. After looking for a cabin to have as a summer home, Kalle fell in love with it, and his next step was to buy it without expecting that this place would become his home, where he lives now with his girlfriend and their puppy, leaving behind the days of cold and loneliness that he suffered at first. In this conversation, Kalle and I talked a lot about his life in the woods, about how it's not just the typical wood's life, it's how Kalle adapted it to him with technology and also how he started to generate several incomes. You may ask: how does he live in the woods? Well, press play and find it out. About Kalle Flodin: My name is Kalle and in the year 2018, I left my full-time job and apartment in Stockholm to live a simple and more meaningful life in the northern parts of Sweden. On Youtube, I share videos and tell stories about simple living, minimalism, personal development, and much more. My wish is to inspire others to also take a leap of faith and escape the rat race to pursue your dreams. I made this up. The 303 chain ring: The bike chain ring is unique to the bicycle and a component of the original 303 Cycling logo, representing the legacy of the 303 Endurance Network's history. It surrounds the globe and triangles and it's circular image represents a continuing journey that has no beginning or ending. What we are taking from the former MHE logo: The mountains at the center of the logo is one triangle comprised of 3 smaller triangles in dark orange on the bottom, light orange in the middle and white (snow cap) at the top. From Denver, the view of the front range at sunset reveals a layering of the ranges with the closest foothills appearing dark orange at sunset. The farther lower range of mountains appearing lighter orange. Even further in the distance are the tallest mountains covered in snow. Whether you navigate through the mountain ranges, each mountain is it's own challenge to climb and represents a part of the journey. The sports: The triangle shape itself is comprised of three sides and symbolic of three dimensions, in the case of endurance sport that lined up nicely with the three sports of triathlon. The composite image is single triangle made up of three smaller triangles, each representing individual sports of endurance. While many of us are multisport endurance athletes, there are also many of us that also single sport endurance athletes, such as pure runners or cyclists. Each triangle standing on its own merits of its individual sport of swimming, cycling or running. The globe: While the name Mile High represents (like a thousand other companies in Colorado) the "mile high city" of Denver, it also suggests that it's a regional podcast. In some ways it is because we are influenced by local community. We care about them and they about us. Ans sure we have a high concentration of endurance athletes (pro and amateur) here in Colorado, there are high concentrations in locations all over the world. We intend to leverage the resources and stories that we have here in our backyard and share content that is informational, interesting and relevant no matter where you are on the planet. The globe represents that endurance athletes have a connection with each other and are a community. We intend to give you content that would appeal to endurance athletes all over the planet and grow our community together. The mission: Our mission is to create a global community of endurance athletes. To inspire participation in endurance sports by connecting you to coaches, experts and professional athletes. Endurance News: A British man ran a marathon in his 20-foot backyard during the coronavirus lockdown — and thousands tuned in April 2, 2020 at 4:17 a.m. MDT James Campbell jogged to the end of his fenced-in yard, turning around when he reached the garden shed. He bounded back to the patio, sneakers pounding a postage stamp-sized patch of grass. He spun around and repeated the loop again. And again. And again. More than five hours later, he had run a full marathon in his 20-foot backyard. Campbell, a former world-class competitive javelin thrower from Cheltenham, England, had been feeling bored and restless while under lockdown due to the novel coronavirus. His Wednesday stunt was “literally the most stupid thing I could think of to do” on his 32nd birthday, he told the BBC. But thousands of people tuned in to watch him run around in circles, and by early Thursday morning, he had raised the equivalent of just over $32,000 for the United Kingdom’s National Health Service. What's New in the 303: Lance Panigutti “We Will Need Events to Heal, But For Now Take Time to Connect in Ways We Never Have” Lance Panigutti, owner of Without Limits Productions, the producer of cycling, triathlon and cyclocross races talked about how his company is handling canceling and postponing races and how he sees the future. He talks about the short term challenges, but also talks about many positives that may emerge and looks at this as an opportunity to adjust and refine his business. He talks about his new implementations based around sustainability and giving back. He put initiatives in place long before the virus outbreak to change the carbon footprint of racing and to give back locally and globally in new ways. Find out a lot more about Lance and Without Limits! DJ Big Reeks and Nell are currently performing on The Extension Tour with Tobe Nwigwe. They took some time to call in and let everyone know, especially Houstonians, how the tour is going. So far they are about 30% done and already have hella dope moments and stories. From Denver requesting screw to meet and greet crowds in Portland performing full renditions of Tobe's songs with no music. I learned how they initially began working together and have grown to have such a great musical chemistry with each other. This was my introduction to Nell's talent. I knew she was a producer but after taking a deep dive on YouTube and watching her series on Women Producers and the way she creates I became an instant fan and learned more about her process. An overall dope conversation that closed with a call to action for all of Houston this 4/20 #LEGENDSONLY

He said, "When you cover Washington, you're going to get invited to a lot of parties. At the parties are going to be the people you're covering. Just remember they're not your friends." Then, he went out to Warrenton, Virginia and ran a think tank called Airlie House. I parted ways with them amicably, but when they moved to ... A Ockershausen: ... He is your father. Carol Ross Joynt: Yes. I graduated from high school, and they moved to rural Virginia. I said, "I'm heading into the city." That's what I did. A Ockershausen: You had been in Colorado up until then? Carol Ross Joynt: No. We'd been ... A Ockershausen:... You traveled with the Air Force. Mount Vernon, VA Carol Ross Joynt: I'd spent my teenage years growing up by Mount Vernon, since it was so close to our house. These were the times before homeland security. My friends and I, when Mount Vernon would close in the evening, we'd just jump the fence and have the coolest time, respectful, cool time, just wandering around George Washington's Estate. Janice Ockershausen: Sonny Jurgensen and his wife, Margo ... Carol Ross Joynt: ... were doing the same thing? Janice Ockershausen: They lived right next door. A Ockershausen: They got a key. Somebody gave them a key. They had a lock on that fence. Carol Ross Joynt: As it should be ... A Ockershausen: ... They could walk right in. Carol Ross Joynt: ... if you're Sonny Jurgensen. May I just say, that it's such a thrill to be here. I'm just daunted by the company of the other guests, Sonny being one of them. A Ockershausen: Yes. Of course. Carol Ross Joynt: I don't know what I'm doing here. A Ockershausen: His wife maybe, but not him. Don't be… Carol Ross Joynt: Anyway ... A Ockershausen: ... They had a key. They could go in. I went on the grounds with them a few times. Was your dad a pilot? Was he a flyer? Carol's Dad's Military Service Carol Ross Joynt: He was a pilot in World War II. He dropped paratroopers on Normandy Beach ... A Ockershausen: Wow. Carol Ross Joynt: ... On D Day. A Ockershausen: A multiple-engine pilot too. Carol Ross Joynt: He was from Minnesota.
