We're talking about conspiracy theory fatigue — the way everything online lately feels so dramatic, divided, and honestly… draining. We're not saying you can't question things , but we're asking: at what point does it just become gossip, slander, or lowkey obsession? We touch on cancel culture, online accusations, Christian discernment vs. actual truth, and how we all need to be a little more humble when we “don't really know.” Kaleb even brings up the whole Beyonce conspiracy (lol wait 'til you hear that one).

It is easy, almost natural, to be owned by our stuff. Yet Jesus says that we are to care for the poor, which sometimes means we must sell something we have in order to do that. It may not be appealing, but as Christians we should ask God what He wants us to sell so that we may help someone in need who may potentially become a brother or sister in Christ.

Joy at Christmas can feel distant, but Luke 2:10 reminds us that God brings “good news of great joy for all people”—a promise still alive and powerful today. This devotional explores how joy is expressed, shared, lived, and cultivated so believers can reflect the hope and goodness of Jesus throughout the Christmas season. Whether joy comes naturally or feels a bit rusty, Scripture offers practical ways to embrace God’s presence and spread joy in everyday moments. Highlights Why joy is central to the Christmas message Four practical ways to express, share, live, and cultivate joy How joy becomes contagious through words, actions, and attitudes The connection between God’s presence and lasting joy Scriptures that anchor a joyful mindset (Luke 2:10, Psalm 21:6, Psalm 16:11, John 15:11–12, Galatians 5:22) Simple ways to nurture joy in others A reminder that joy is our inheritance in Christ Gift Inspiration: Crosswalk's Holiday Gift Guide Looking for a meaningful way to celebrate the season? Check out our Holiday Gift Guide—from beautifully illustrated Bibles and devotionals to novels, greeting cards, and picture books, there’s something for everyone on your list. Full Transcript Below: Spreading Joy Throughout the Christmas Season By Lynette Kittle Bible Reading: “But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” - Luke 2:10 Great joy for all the people! What truly remarkable, good news for all of us down through the ages: an announcement thousands of years ago, still relevant today. Yet, how many millions of people around the world are missing out on experiencing this great joy, not just at Christmas, but their entire lives? How do we, like the angels, proclaim and spread this great joy throughout the Christmas season and all year round? What can we do to express it, share it, live it, and cultivate it in others’ lives, too? Expressing, Sharing, Living, and Cultivating Joy Because God calls us to joy, the following are four ways we can spread it while experiencing it for ourselves. Express our joy. How do individuals express joy? Many smile, some laugh, others clap, and there are those who jump for joy. Sadly, some Christians hold their joy in, perhaps feeling it on the inside, but it doesn’t make its way outward, causing some of the Christian sayings and critiques, such as “the frozen chosen.” As a child, I loved singing the kids’ song, “I’ve got the joy, joy, joy,” over and over again. We would sing “I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart!” Then we would follow it by shouting “where” and then respond by singing in reply “Down in my heart.” Just singing it brought joy to us and those listening. However we express joy, we want to make sure to let it out, so others might experience it too, and also to share the joyous message of Christmas that can be their own for a lifetime. Share our joy. Many of us don’t realize that joy is spreadable - it’s contagious and easily passed from one person to another. Just as we can sing songs that get stuck in others’ heads when they hear us singing, so too can joy be shared with one another. We can share joy simply by the way we look at the world, our situations, and those around us, letting the joy that comes from knowing God guide our words and actions. As Psalm 21:6 describes, “Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of Your presence.” Live our joy. We can wake up in the morning with joy, even before anything has happened in our day yet. Before we even lift our heads from the pillows each morning, we can experience joy daily in our lives because the source of it is not ourselves, but God. As Psalm 16:11 reminds us, “You make known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.” A way to live in God’s joy is described in John 15:11-12, “If you keep my commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in His love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” Cultivate joy in others. If we ask, God will lead us to cultivate joy in the lives of those around us. We may not know how to nurture it in others, but God can show us how, because He knows what it takes to help it grow in those around us. As Galatians 5:22 describes, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Just the way we speak and interact with others gives us opportunities to cultivate joy in their lives by expressing, sharing, and living it out in our own. Intersecting Faith & Life: Are you known for your joy? If not, take stock and ask God why not? See what’s holding you back from enjoying the great joy that is ours through Jesus Christ. How to Help the Poor this Christmas—and Beyond with Lisa Sheltra

The holidays naturally inspire generosity. As Christians, we feel a heightened awareness of need—empty tables, struggling families, and financial hardship made more visible by the contrast of celebration all around us. And that impulse to give is good. But God calls us to something deeper.True, Christ-centered generosity goes beyond a one-time act of charity. It invites us to walk alongside people in ways that restore dignity, build hope, and reflect God's heart for renewal—not just during Christmas, but throughout the year.To explore what that kind of generosity looks like in practice, we sat down with Lisa Sheltra, Director of Community Engagement at Salt & Light, a ministry committed to helping without hurting by empowering individuals rather than creating dependency.A Biblical Vision for Deeper GenerosityScripture sets the tone for how we approach generosity. “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Philippians 2:4). That verse reminds us that generosity is inherently relational. It's not just about meeting needs—it's about entering into someone's life with humility and care.Lisa explained that while giving material help is often necessary, biblical generosity must flow from our relationship with Christ. God's model for giving isn't transactional. It's restorative. She pointed to John 3:16 as the ultimate framework for generosity. When God gave, He didn't offer something temporary or superficial—He gave His Son to address our deepest brokenness and bring true flourishing. If our generosity reflects God's heart, it should aim not only to relieve immediate pain but to support long-term restoration, reconciliation, and community. Many churches and families feel pressure in December to focus heavily on relief efforts—food drives, toy collections, clothing donations. These are good and often necessary responses, especially in moments of crisis. But Lisa cautioned that relief, by its nature, creates a giver-receiver imbalance. When relief becomes the default instead of the exception, it can unintentionally harm both sides of the relationship. It can reduce people to passive recipients and rob them of agency, dignity, and participation.Relief is best understood as a tourniquet—it stops the bleeding in an emergency. But most ongoing struggles, including those we notice during the holidays, are not emergencies. They are development needs, requiring long-term walking together, not repeated short-term fixes.Relief vs. Development: Understanding the DifferenceSalt & Light works closely with principles championed by the Chalmers Center, which emphasizes the importance of distinguishing between relief and development.Relief addresses urgent, immediate crises.Development focuses on long-term growth, dignity, and restored relationships.During the holidays, what looks like an emergency is often a symptom of a deeper, ongoing struggle. Repeated relief may feel satisfying to the giver, but it rarely moves families toward lasting stability or community.Development, on the other hand, invites people to use their own gifts, make their own choices, and participate fully in solutions. It treats individuals not as problems to fix, but as image-bearers with capacity and value. At Salt & Light, empowerment isn't seasonal—it's woven into everyday ministry. Participants invest in the program year-round and are treated not as charity cases, but as customers and guests with agency.Rather than handing out preselected gifts, families can choose items for their loved ones. That choice matters deeply. Lisa shared that many participants have said, “This is the first Christmas in years I've been able to buy gifts for my family myself.”That shift—from receiving charity to exercising choice—restores dignity in powerful ways.A Better Path for ChurchesFor churches wanting to steward holiday generosity wisely, Lisa offered several practical insights:Partner with ministries already practicing development. You don't need to reinvent the wheel.Encourage relational volunteering, not just donation drives.Support year-round ministries, not just seasonal projects.Use the holidays as an on-ramp, connecting people's enthusiasm for giving to sustainable, ongoing involvement. The goal isn't to do more—it's to do good in ways that last. What This Looks Like for IndividualsMany believers want to help but fear causing harm. The answer isn't to stop giving—it's to give differently.Lisa encouraged individuals to approach generosity with humility and a willingness to learn. We don't need perfect solutions. We need presence, patience, listening ears, and respect for dignity. She reminded us that kingdom impact isn't measured by numbers alone. While it may feel impressive to count meals served or gifts distributed, God's metrics are relational. Sometimes faithfulness looks like doing for one what we wish we could do for everyone. When asked to leave listeners with one guiding principle beyond the Christmas season, Lisa said it simply and beautifully:“See others as image-bearers of God—people with gifts, agency, and dignity. Come alongside them, not as fixers, but as fellow participants in God's work of renewal.”When we give in ways that honor dignity and foster genuine connection, we don't just meet needs—we participate in God's redemptive work.To learn more about Salt & Light and their dignity-centered approach to helping others, visit SaltandLightMinistry.org.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I owned my land before I got married, and my husband isn't on the deed. Today a massive chunk (is it 50%?) of the Church has been infiltrated by Neo-Marxist tenets. How, chiefly, has Neo-Marxism done that? Mark and I variously work through the tenets of Neo-Marxism, how it has evolved from Marxism, how it manipulates Christians, and the various ways it manifests in western culture. One of those ways is to take a Neo-Marxist value and paste a bible verse over it, to sort-of Christianize it, baptize it. But when pastors and others do that—assume Neo-Marxist terminology as true—they do not realize that they have already ceded foundational ground to a value system that at its root opposes God, Christ, the Gospel, and truth. In this conversational episode Mark and I also talk about the Neo-Marxist use of compassion, coercion, bitterness, resentment, and pacifism. The show caps off with the two of us processing a list of 10 Social Justice values. Come think and laugh with us!

On Monday's Mark Levin Show, people often question why does the issue of radical Islamists remain a topic of discussion? The reason is that Jews are being slaughtered, Christians are being killed or shunned, yet there is a noticeable lack of coverage on these atrocities.  Marxism, Islamism, anti-Semitism, and anti-Americanism are a cancer that will destroy the West, it will destroy us - history proves it. We have to defend our civilization against this barbarian movement of 7th century Islamists that are largely based in Middle East. The lies that are being told about American history is all intentional. It's the Marxist, Islamist fusion in our culture fused with the incoming Islamist culture who all reject our founding. Also, people like Tucker Carlson and Steve Bannon promote neo-fascist views that overlap with enemy propaganda, such as praising Qatari culture over American or Israeli and portraying Vladimir Putin and Hitler as misunderstood. Americans need to stop funding or watching this content and to speak out against these grifters who sell out the country, provide aid and comfort to enemies by regurgitating their propaganda, and enable enemy interviews. Later, the PM of Australia and his government are hardcore liberals. They've had their borders wide open, they've had massive immigration, and there have been massive acts of anti Semitism. Now, there has been the killing of Jews celebrating Hanukkah.  Afterward, there's a problem of the dumbing down of communication in the United States, particularly through the hijacking of podcast platforms by evil, dumb, or fraudulent individuals promoting nitwittery, lies, fear-mongering, and outrageous content for attention. There needs to be more people of goodwill with strong views to produce intelligent, substantive podcasts that are serious yet fun and scholarly yet entertaining. Learn more about your ad choices. Courage in the Christian life becomes most evident when faith faces real pressure. Ray, E.Z., Mark, and Oscar discuss how believers in places like Turkey encounter genuine danger for sharing the gospel, prompting the guys to reflect on nervousness, sacrifice, and obedience in hostile environments. They stress the importance of looking to the cross for strength, responding to opposition with gentleness, and remembering that even Jesus was rejected despite delivering a perfect message. They encourage believers to approach resistant family members with empathy, avoiding arguments rooted in pride rather than witness, and to trust God to work through humility and clarity. The guys also emphasize the significance of cultural awareness, prayerful dependence on the Spirit, and genuine authenticity, reminding Christians that faithfulness may bring resistance instead of applause. Stephanie hosts Lee Strobel, acclaimed author known for "The Case for Christ" and many other works examining the evidence for Christianity. Together they explore the true story of Christmas, the reality of miracles, and how the supernatural intersects with our everyday lives. This conversation challenges us to view Christmas with fresh eyes, to trust in God's supernatural power, and to enter the season embracing generosity, hope, and an openness to miracles—both big and small.Understanding historical and cultural context enriches our appreciation for the Christmas story and corrects misconceptions shaped by tradition and mistranslation. So, Stephanie opens by asking Lee to unpack traditional nativity scenes. Strobel explains that the common image of Mary and Joseph being turned away by a harsh innkeeper actually stems from a mistranslation. The Greek word "kataluma" is better understood as "guest room" rather than an inn. In first-century Bethlehem, homes often had a main living area with adjacent space for animals, and wealthier homes included a guest room. Mary and Joseph most likely found shelter with relatives who didn't have space in the guest room, so Jesus was born in the main family area, not in a crowded stable. Furthermore, Lee debunks the myth that Bethlehem was bustling with commercial inns; hospitality was so valued in that culture, it would be unthinkable to turn away a pregnant woman.Miracles, by definition, are acts of God that transcend natural laws; if we accept the existence of a Creator, then miracles like the virgin birth become logically possible. So, Lee addresses common skepticism about the virgin birth, referencing Dr. William Lane Craig's journey from doubt to faith. The miracle becomes scientifically plausible when recognizing that if God created the universe and set the laws of nature, creating a Y chromosome is a simple task for Him.Our celebrations are opportunities to focus on generosity and the meaning of Christ's birth rather than being distracted by debates about dates or traditions. In that way, the date of Christmas isn't biblically mandated—early Christians didn't record or celebrate birthdays. December 25th became tradition through a series of theological and historical developments, not pagan theft. Gift-giving echoes the generosity of figures like St. Nicholas, whose story shaped holiday customs such as stocking gifts.Miracles still happen and can be examined with reason and evidence. Prayer remains a powerful connection to God's supernatural work. Lee emphasizes medical documentation, credible witnesses, lack of natural explanation, and a context of prayer as strong criteria for validating miracles. Modern research, such as documented healing events in places like Mozambique and Brazil, shows that miracles often accompany breakthroughs of the gospel. The Holy Spirit continues to work beyond cultural and political barriers, using dreams, visions, and supernatural encounters to reveal Jesus. Lee's book "Seeing the Supernatural" and testimonies from the Middle East reveal how God uses dreams and visions to reach people, especially in closed countries. These experiences often have cross-verification and lead individuals into Christian community.God's promise is not a life free of suffering but a hope of ultimate healing and redemption, both now and in eternity. Stephanie and Lee close by reflecting on personal experiences with pain and loss. They discuss how suffering can lead to deeper faith, humility, and compassion, and how God redeems our pain according to Romans 8:28.THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS TO PARTNER WITH GOSPEL SPICE TODAY!First, PAY Gospel Spice Forward: Give a tax-deductible gift so others can experience our ministry for free, just like you! In this prophetic teaching on the armor of God, you'll learn how to engage in real spiritual warfare and stand firm when the evil day comes. Pastor Ron breaks down each piece of war equipment—the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, killer shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, sword of the Spirit, and the spear of prayer—and shows you how to use them every day, not just during a conference weekend. You'll discover how to fight in union with the Lord instead of striving in your own strength, how to keep your faith "oiled" with the Holy Spirit, and how to release the rhema word of God against every fiery dart of the enemy. This episode will equip you to stop chasing victory and start speaking from the victory Jesus already purchased at the cross. Most people think of Hanukkah as the “Jewish Christmas,” a cultural celebration with candles, dreidels, and chocolate coins. But the real story is far older, far weightier, and far more connected to the story of Jesus than many Christians realize.  Hanukkah is a story about attempted erasure, courageous resistance, and God's unstoppable commitment to preserve His covenant promises. In this episode, we walk through the rise of Antiochus, the Seleucid king who sought not only to dominate Israel but to erase its identity - banning circumcision, outlawing Torah, desecrating the Temple, and demanding assimilation.  Yet when the majority gave way to cultural pressure, a few refused to bow. The Maccabees stood when others surrendered, preserving the line through which Messiah would one day come. And 150 years later, during this very feast, Jesus walked in the Temple and declared Himself the Light of the World. The same God who preserved His people through the few stands faithful today.  Hanukkah isn't merely history; it is a lens for understanding the spiritual battles of our own moment and the hope of the King who will come again. Key Takeaways Hanukkah is rooted in real biblical history - not legend - and is foreshadowed in Daniel's visions. Antiochus Epiphanes sought to erase Jewish identity and break the covenant line of David. The Maccabees embodied “the few” whom God uses to preserve His promises. The real miracle of Hanukkah is God's covenant faithfulness, not just the oil. Jesus celebrated Hanukkah (John 10:22) and used the feast to reveal His identity. The spirit of Antiochus - the antichrist spirit - still rises in every generation. Hanukkah points forward to the return of Messiah, the true Light of the World. St. Paul concludes his first letter to the Thessalonians by commending them to the God of peace, who alone makes His people holy until the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Just as conversion to the Christian faith is God's work, so is keeping us in the Christian faith God's work, and St. Paul expresses confidence that God will do this for the Thessalonians. He asks the Thessalonians to pray for him and his team and to bring his affectionate greetings to the congregation. St. Paul expects his letter to be read by the Thessalonians as the Word of God, and he concludes with God's saving grace.  Rev. Matt Ulmer, pastor at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church--Friedheim, just outside Decatur, IN, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study 1 Thessalonians 5:23-28.  To learn more about Zion in Friedheim, visit zionfriedheim.org. “Yearning for the Day of Christ's Returning” is a mini-series on Sharper Iron that studies St. Paul's two epistles to the Thessalonians. Although Paul's time in Thessalonica was brief, he had great affection for the Christians there. His two letters to the Thessalonians show us the joy that God gives us together in the Church and encourage us to live faithfully in expectation of Jesus' coming on the Last Day.  Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org

April 20, 1999 changed everything we thought we understood about safety, about schools, and about the capacity for violence within our own communities. In this episode of The Guilty Files, we take a comprehensive and unflinching look at the Columbine High School massacre, cutting through decades of misinformation to separate fact from myth in one of the most misunderstood crimes in American history. Nearly everything the public believes about Columbine has been shaped by early media errors, cultural panic, and narratives that simply do not hold up under scrutiny. The so-called Trenchcoat Mafia was never a factor. The idea that Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold targeted jocks or Christians has been largely debunked. The widely circulated story that Cassie Bernall affirmed her faith moments before her death did not occur as it was later told. And perhaps most critically, Columbine was never intended to be a traditional school shooting. It was designed as a mass bombing meant to collapse the cafeteria and kill hundreds, potentially surpassing the Oklahoma City bombing as the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in U.S. history. The shooting was a contingency plan, carried out only after the bombs failed to detonate. This episode traces the full arc of the crime from beginning to end. We examine the backgrounds of both perpetrators not to glorify them or grant the infamy they sought, but to understand the warning signs that were missed and the systems that failed. Eric Harris, a military child who moved frequently before settling in Littleton, Colorado, maintained a website filled with threats and bomb-making instructions that were known to authorities and never acted upon.Dylan Klebold, a gifted local student, struggled with severe depression and suicidal ideation that was documented in private journals but went unrecognized until after the attack. We follow the eleven months of planning that led up to April 20, including the alarming ease with which two teenagers obtained four firearms and constructed ninety-nine explosive devices. We examine the gun show loophole that allowed an eighteen-year-old honors student to purchase weapons for her underage friends, along with the illegal sale of a TEC-DC9 handgun by a twenty-two-year-old seeking quick money. At the center of the episode is a minute-by-minute reconstruction of the day itself, built from the official Jefferson County Sheriff's Office timeline, witness testimony, surveillance footage, and forensic evidence. From Eric Harris purchasing propane tanks at a Texaco station that morning to the forty-nine minutes of violence that left fourteen people dead and twenty-four wounded, we document exactly what happened and when. But this episode does what too much coverage of mass violence fails to do. It centers the victims. Rachel Scott, whose writings on compassion inspired the global movement Rachel's Challenge. Daniel Rohrbough, a fifteen-year-old freshman who never had a chance to escape.  Dave Sanders, the beloved teacher and coach who saved more than a hundred students before being shot and left to bleed to death for over four hours while help failed to reach him. Kyle Velasquez, Steven Curnow, Cassie Bernall, Isaiah Shoels, Matthew Kechter, Lauren Townsend, John Tomlin, Kelly Fleming, Daniel Mauser, and Corey DePooter. Each had a future, a family, and a life that mattered. We also honor Anne Marie Hochhalter, who was paralyzed during the attack and whose death in February 2025 was ruled a homicide by the Jefferson County Coroner, bringing the final death toll to fourteen. We examine the catastrophic failures in the law enforcement response, including the contain-and-wait protocol that kept officers outside the school for more than an hour after the attack began. Dave Sanders was alive for hours, tended to by students as a sign in the window read “One bleeding to death.” Police snipers saw it. Dispatch communicated with people in the room. Help still did not arrive in time. His daughter later won a $1.5 million settlement against Jefferson County, and his death helped fundamentally change how police across the country respond to active shooter situations. The episode also dismantles the myths that emerged in the immediate aftermath. The Trenchcoat Mafia narrative. The revenge fantasy. The blame placed on video games and musicians. The Cassie Bernall martyrdom story. We explain what the FBI's psychological analysis actually concluded about Harris and Klebold and why the truth, while less sensational than the myths, matters far more. Finally, we examine the lasting impact of Columbine more than twenty-six years later. The lawsuits and settlements. The evolution of school security. The gun control debates that surged and faded. Sue Klebold's memoir and her advocacy for mental health awareness. And the phenomenon researchers now call “The Columbine Effect,” with more than seventy subsequent attacks directly inspired by or linked to what happened that day. This is not an easy episode. It is long, detailed, and emotionally heavy. But it is also an episode that refuses to give the perpetrators the notoriety they sought. Instead, it remembers the dead, honors the survivors who turned trauma into purpose, and acknowledges a community that stood together under the words  “We Are Columbine.”If you take anything from this episode, let it be the names of the fourteen people who should have been allowed to grow old. Say their names. Remember their stories. That is how we push back against the darkness.Content warning: This episode contains detailed discussions of violence, death, and suicide. Listener discretion is advised.

This episode begins with Armas offering an invocation — as she does at the start of each chapter of her latest book. Her invocation is aptly a liturgy for resisting empire. Armas focuses on the important of community as resistance because as she says, “friendship… is the death of empire.” It is in community where one finds new ways to resist and care for their neighbor. Empire insidiously convinces us to think in binary and Armas urges the listener to hold on to complexity in a world that often demands simplicity.Kat Armas (MDiv, MAT, Fuller Theological Seminary) is a Cuban American writer and podcaster and the recipient of Fuller Seminary's Frederick Buechner Award for Excellence in Writing. What happens when faithful Christians disagree—and refuse to caricature one another? In this episode of Lead Time, Tim Ahlman and Jack Kalleberg sit down with Pastor David Bukes for an honest, brotherly conversation about some of the most sensitive and debated issues in the Lutheran Church—without turning it into a fight. This is not a debate episode. It's a listening episode.Together, they explore:- Where disagreement is genuinely adiaphora—and where it isn't- How “liturgical pietism” and “it's just contextual” can both miss the mark- Why drawing lines too tightly or too loosely can damage unity- The pastoral tension between hospitality and faithfulness, especially around the Lord's Supper- What faithful disagreement actually looks like when everyone shares the same confession- Rather than trying to “win,” this conversation models something increasingly rare: theological conviction held with humility, charity, and love for the Church. If you've ever felt skeptical of church conversations that seem polarized, dismissive, or reactionary—this episode is for you.If you care about unity without compromise—this episode is for you.If you believe the Church is strengthened by honest dialogue rooted in Christ—this episode is for you!Our hope is not that you leave with every question answered, but that you leave encouraged to wrestle together, grounded in the gospel, for the sake of Christ's Church.Join the LCMS Current!(weekly newsletter covering relevant LCMS topics!): https://www.uniteleadership.org/thelcmscurrentThe Best Pizza Franchise OpportunityAnthony & Luca's Pizza Kitchen is the hottest new Cheesesteak & NY Pizza Franchise.Support the showJoin the Lead Time Newsletter! Religious freedom, especially for Christians, is under attack across the globe, including in the West–including right here in the United States. Whether insidiously in the form of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs that block Christians from employment and advancement opportunities, or, overtly, like vandalism against churches, or, in some parts of the world, murderous violence against Christians themselves, in terms of sheer numbers–and this fact is often ignored–Christians are, by far, the most persecuted religious group in the world. While defending religious freedom is important for people of all faiths, or no faith at all, it is thus especially urgent for believers in Christ. How, then, can we work together as a church and as a society to make progress on this front? Taking a step back, what, specifically, is religious freedom and why is it a universal human right? What is the relationship between the free exercise of religion and freedom of speech? And how can we respond to the secular charge that religious freedom is merely a backdoor means for the faithful to impose their beliefs on others? A listener asks how we can grow in confidence that Catholicism is the one true religion. [Original airdate: 1/9/25] Mary Danielsen welcomes back Britt Gillette and his wealth of knowledge about all things economic. Today’s system that seems to be held together with duct tape reminds me of the children’s nursery rhyme that says, “when the bough breaks…” – and then spells out the end quite clearly. Considering that the economy now global impacts us all on earth, what might 2025 bring? The last couple years have seen threats of bank closures and the cancelling of accounts of those the globalists don’t like, namely, conservatives and Christians. Alarming enough, but there is so much more going on, in particular the over-valuation of the stock market. We will rely on Britt to help us sort that out, along with the real estate market, Asian economics and their stock markets, and how AI will affect the economy in the next several years. According to the IMF, AI is a game changer for labor in particular, but also how considerable funds will be poured into the global markets from everything tech. A complex subject made easier by Britt Gillette, because while most of us rely on our pocketbook to tell us things have gone haywire, we can also rely on people with his expertise to help us dig deeper. It's Monday, December 15th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus World's 5 Communist countries are cracking down on Christians Governments in the world's five remaining Communist countries are intensifying control over Christian churches, reports International Christian Concern. Churches are facing growing legal, financial and operational restrictions under regimes in China, Cuba, Laos, North Korea and Vietnam. Authorities in China require churches to register with the state and operate under a system called Sinicization, which mandates that sermons and practices incorporate Chinese cultural elements and Communist Party ideology, In Cuba, Christian groups are also legally required to register with the government, though new registrations are seldom granted. Individuals receiving foreign funding for church-related activities may be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison under Cuban law. Christian groups in Laos must also register with the government and seek prior approval for nearly all activities. A 2023 U.S. State Department report said churches must obtain permission for services, gatherings, travel of clergy, construction of worship spaces, and distribution of religious materials. In North Korea, churches are allowed only as tightly regulated institutions that serve the regime's image abroad. North Korean citizens are expected to report anyone found engaging in religious practices outside these state-run settings or in possession of Christian materials like Bibles. Unauthorized religious activity is met with harsh penalties, including imprisonment or forced labor. Vietnam also enforces mandatory registration for Christians and reserves the right to intervene in church finances and operations. A 2024 Vietnamese law, known as Decree 95, grants the government authority to demand financial records from churches and to suspend their activities without citing specific violations. Authorities in Vietnam have detained individuals and restricted congregations that fail to comply. Galatians 6:9 promises, “ Let us not grow weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we do not faint.” The $1 billion fraud of the Somalis in Minnesota Federal investigators have uncovered and charged dozens of people in Minnesota — most of Somali, African descent — in a series of major public-benefits fraud schemes which cost the American taxpayers $1 billion, reports Fox. These schemes include two primary issues.  First, a nonprofit named Feeding Our Future claimed federal reimbursements for feeding children during the pandemic but is accused of taking hundreds of millions in funds for few or no meals. And second, there was Medicaid fraud in autism care and housing support. Prosecutors say large and rapidly growing payments to providers for autism therapy and Housing Stabilization Services were fraudulent, with fake clients and claims submitted. Appearing on Fox News with Laura Ingraham, Stephen Miller, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for policy, said this. MILLER: “This could very well end up being the greatest financial fraud scandal in American history.” Republican Mike Lindell running for Minnesota Governor Speaking of Minnesota, where Democratic Governor Tim Walz, has embarrassed his state nationally as the brief-lived Vice Presidential pick of Kamala Harris, MyPillow founder and CEO Mike Lindell announced his candidacy for Minnesota's 2026 gubernatorial race last Thursday, reports The Christian Post. The 64-year-old Lindell posted on social media. "After prayerful consideration and hearing from so many of you across our great state, I've made the decision to enter the 2026 gubernatorial race.” LINDELL: “Together, we will restore respect for law and order. If you are here illegally, now's the time to leave, or you're going to be sent back where you came from.” Governor Walz is running for his third consecutive four-year term. 2 dead, 8 injured in shooting at Brown University On Saturday evening, an active shooter killed two people and seriously injured eight others at Brown University campus where a male, dressed in black, opened fire inside a building on campus, reports the Providence Journal.  The Ivy League college in Providence, Rhode Island was in lockdown as the suspected gunman remained at large following the shooting. Dick Van Dyke: “I have no idea” what happens when we die In an interview with ABC's Nightline with Dick Van Dyke, who just turned 100, Chris Connelly asked about loss and death. CONNELLY: “How have you dealt with loss in your life, when you lose somebody close to you? How have you rebounded from something like that?” VAN DYKE: “I don't know. You know, I lost my brother and my eldest daughter. Both committed suicide because of pain, and my reaction was anger, because I just think there were two deaths that didn't have to happen because they were, other than that, very healthy, except for pain.” CONNELLY:  “Have you ever thought about death?” VAN DYKE:  “I do now. I think most people don't, but when you get up around 100, it's a fact that you have to face. You know, it could happen any day.” CONNELLY: “What do you think happens when we die?” VAN DYKE:  “I have no idea. I think some people are afraid of death because they think you're aware of it. They can say, ‘Oh, darn, I'm dead.' But, you know, you're gone; you don't exist anymore. No, death doesn't really frighten me, although I like a lot more life.” Hebrews 9:27 says, “People are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” Gift of tiny home reunites veteran with his 2-year-old daughter And finally, when his 2-year-old daughter Majesty fell into the foster care system, a U.S. Navy veteran faced a significant barrier in his fight to assert custody: He did not have a permanent address, reports Good News Network. At that point, Tim had gotten his life back on track after a struggle with substance use, but his group living arrangement in that program wasn't designed for children. He said, “I just remember thinking: ‘How can I rescue my daughter?'” Providentially, a tiny blue home became available at Veterans Community Project, a nonprofit village that help residents regain parental rights of their children. Soon after, he got full custody and moved to a family unit complete with a bunk bed fit for a toddler. The key moment in Tim's transformation was the rediscovery of his Christian faith and his willingness to admit he needed help. He said, “The opposite of addiction is connection—and that's what I found.” At the rehab center, he remembers feeling “like Scrooge in A Christmas Carol.” SCROOGE AFTER WAKING FROM DREAM ON CHRISTMAS DAY: “I must dress myself. So much to do.  I must not lose any time. I am as light as a feather. (laughs) I'm as happy as an angel. (laughs) I am as a merry as a schoolboy. (laughs) I'm as giddy as a drunken man. (laughs)  Merry Christmas to everyone and a happy new year!” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, December 15th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). Many Christians are also successful business people, entrepreneurs, and leaders in the corporate world. A good portion of these people steward their gifts and influence within their communities to advance the mission of Christ through their work.Navigating business ownership can be overwhelming, and without a clear foundation many believers simply adopt the patterns and the philosophies of the world around them. Today's conversation is about recovering a distinctly biblical way of building a business, one rooted in wisdom, integrity, stewardship, and the character of God himself. Whether you're running a small side hustle or leading a growing company, Scripture offers practical principles that speak directly to leadership, culture, planning, and the everyday decisions that shape a business. To help us unpack all of this, we are joined by Eric Phillips, who serves as the praise and worship pastor at Midtown Baptist Temple and has spent years working in the secular business world in sales strategy and leadership. He is here to discuss his new book, Building Business Biblically, and to help us think wisely about what it means to build a business that honors Christ.Visit https://www.lfbi.org/books to purchase Building Business Biblically by Eric PhillipsVisit https://www.lfbi.org/learnmore

Discover how to bring your worship as a living, holy sacrifice to God in part two of “The Gifts We Bring.” The second gift of the magi—frankincense—pointed to Jesus as our perfect High Priest, the only mediator and intercessor between God and humanity. He is deserving of our first and best when it comes to worship, and that often costs us something. When we raise our hands in worship, we are acknowledging our submission to God and His provision for us. Worship is offering God the “first fruits” of our lives, whether that be time, talents, or resources. Bringing a sacrifice of praise opens the door for God's provision to be poured out. Join Pastor Phil Hopper as he unpacks what it means for Christians to be priests of God and be challenged to bring your sacrifice of praise!Connect with us on Social Media ↴Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/abundantlifels/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/abundantlifelsConnect with Pastor Phil ↴Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PhilHopperKCInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/philhopper_kcBooks & Resources       https://livingproof.co/resources/books Listen to The Well Podcast ⤵Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5wadnywAMEK7c0E1qatMoY?si=SjH6Ko7VR3OoHrRy1yYLlQ&nd=1&dlsi=395ae55d95ac4b11Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-well/id1233267223YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLR50sV854C2hogfBmv7YogvCjiNYLz9a2Find Your Next Step: https://alife.livingproof.co/Watch more sermons: https://abundant-life.com/sermons/Do you want to see your life changed by Jesus?
