In this episode, Breht O'Shea and Alyson Escalante join forces for a deep philosophical conversation on Marxism, consciousness, and the mind-body problem. Using China Miéville's essay on consciousness and materialism as a starting point, they explore why the nature of subjective experience remains such a profound challenge for crude or reductionist forms of materialism -- and why this question matters for Marxists. Alyson begins by carefully summarizing Miéville's original essay and its challenge to conventional Marxist materialism. From there, Breht lays out several major positions in the philosophy of mind, including dualism, physicalism, idealism, panpsychism, neutral monism, emergentism, eliminativism, and epiphenomenalism. Together, they then work through two responses to Miéville's essay, clarifying the arguments, tensions, and stakes of the debate. In the second half, Breht argues for a different approach: a dialectical monism informed by dependent origination. Rather than reducing consciousness to matter, escaping into idealism, or treating mind and matter as separate substances, this view understands reality as a single, dynamic, relational process in which consciousness, embodiment, nature, society, and practice arise interdependently. The conversation closes by bringing Buddhist philosophy and phenomenology into dialogue with Marxism, exploring emptiness, experience, nonduality, and the limits of conceptual thought. What emerges is not a rejection of materialism, but a call to deepen it -- beyond reductionism, beyond dualism, and toward a more dialectical understanding of consciousness & reality. Iran ceasefire violations, JD Vance on Bill Maher, the Venezuela earthquake, and Mike Johnson's DSA warning headline today's A.M. Update. The US strikes Iranian missile sites again after Iran fires on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, JD Vance tells Bill Maher Iran's nuclear program is functionally destroyed even without full inspections, and Aaron says nobody with a working brain is surprised Iran broke the truce. Venezuela's earthquake death toll climbs past 1,450 as rescue crews race against time, the Supreme Court allows the Trump administration to end temporary protected status for Haitian and Syrian nationals, and Ohio Governor Mike DeWine pushes back on CNN. Pete Buttigieg claims a politically motivated false CPS report targeted his family, and Aaron says the story doesn't add up either way. House Speaker Mike Johnson delivers a pointed warning about a wave of DSA-backed congressional candidates nationwide, reading directly from the Democratic Socialists of America's own platform, and Aaron lays out his theory that the fusion of Marxism and Islamism is functioning as a unifying anti-Christian ideology for the secular left. California State Senator Scott Wiener gets cursed out and driven off the stage at San Francisco's Trans March for not being radical enough, and Aaron uses the moment to revisit Wiener's legislative record, which he argues should disqualify him from being held up as any kind of moral or political role model. Aaron closes by calling out fringe online voices on the right who've descended into antisemitic conspiracy theory, saying that brand of "horseshoe theory" rot is squandering a real political opportunity.

David Harsanyi, senior writer at The Washington Examiner and co-host of the You’re Wrong podcast with Mollie Hemingway, joins Seth by phone to dive into the latest Supreme Court decision on gun rights. They explore the implications of a society that's increasingly reliant on majoritarianism and the erosion of constitutional principles. They also discuss the rise of socialism within the Democratic Party and the potential consequences of its spread. David's insights on the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and its platform are particularly eye-opening, as he explains how the group's ideology is rooted in Marxism and its goal of dismantling Western civilization. He also shares his concerns about the potential for the Right to move further to the political Left in response to the growing socialist movement.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Trump and Senate GOP, NATO's Mark Rutte, Zohran Mamdani's primary sweep, and Grand Theft Auto 6 headline today's A.M. Update. Outgoing Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy reportedly gets into a shouting match with Trump at a Senate GOP lunch just weeks after losing his primary by a historic margin, and Aaron says picking that fight on his way out the door makes no sense. Trump also announces he won't sign the bipartisan housing bill until the Senate passes the SAVE America Act, even though it already cleared Congress with supermajorities, and takes a swipe at NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte over gas prices not falling fast enough at the pump. All three of Zohran Mamdani's endorsed candidates sweep their New York primaries, including a Democratic Socialist who knocked off a five-term incumbent, and Aaron lays out his theory for why the combination of Islamism and Marxism is proving so potent with young, secular voters. Grand Theft Auto 6 opens pre-orders for its November launch, and Aaron does the math on its reported $2 billion budget, more than it cost to build the Burj Khalifa, and questions whether that much talent and money going into a video game says something about misplaced priorities. Aaron closes the week with the poll of the week results on who's actually following the World Cup.
The Democratic Socialists of America appear to be in complete control of the Democratic Party in NYC, and they are not satisfied. This is only the beginning for them, and they are proud of it. The question is, what does this mean for the Democratic Party, and is it fair to now assume that the Democrats as a party are openly hostile to the United States?SPONSOR: Angel StudiosAngel Studios presents Young Washington, the untold origin story of George Washington at age 20, timed for America's 250th birthday and directed by Jon Erwin with Andy Serkis, Ben Kingsley, and Kelsey Grammer. Raising Expectations with Pastor Joe Schofield, Melba Schofield Stefanie and Dr Craig Thayer, Dr Paul Hall, and Ron Greer Comedy, Courage, and the Cost of Discipleship in America Today Guest, Conservative Comedian: Brad Stine! Friends,, Tonight we have special guest, Brad Stine, God's Comic! Brad Stine pulls no punches as he takes on cancel culture, political correctness, and the upside-down logic of modern America. With his signature blend of righteous outrage and razor-sharp wit, Stine challenges the cultural gatekeepers, defends free speech, and dares audiences to laugh at what we're all thinking but too afraid to say. Recorded live in Nashville, Tennessee and produced by Honest Fox Media, this unapologetically honest performance hits hot-button topics like identity politics, free speech, race, gender, COVID mandates, and America's spiritual crisis—all rooted in Stine's deep convictions as a conservative Christian. Whether he's dissecting the absurdity of word policing or poking fun at generational fragility, Brad reminds us that comedy is meant to provoke, unite, and most of all—set us free. This is more than a comedy show. It's a call to courage. It's truth wrapped in laughter. It's a reminder that freedom isn't free—and sometimes the most rebellious thing you can do is laugh. Laugh hard. Speak truth. And above all—laugh while it's still legal! Don't Miss Brad Stine- God has a message just for you… Check out more of Brad Stine's work on his website: https://bradstine.com/ Don't forget to follow Brad Stine's Podcast: Brad Stine Has Issues on Youtube! https://www.youtube.com/c/bradstinehasissues Faith, Family, and a Night of Bold Conversation In this episode of Raising Expectations, Pastor Joe Schofield opens the program by welcoming listeners and reminding them that the show is rooted in faith in Jesus Christ, the belief that Christ answers the deepest questions of life, and the desire to help people raise their expectations from “good to better to best together.” He introduces the full team: Melba Schofield, Stefanie Thayer, Dr. Craig Thayer, Dr. Paul Hall, and Ron Greer, each presented as part of a faith-centered family of believers committed to truth, grace, encouragement, and Christian witness. Introducing Brad Stine, “God's Comic” The guest for the hour is conservative comedian Brad Stine, described as a nationally known performer whose comedy takes on cancel culture, political correctness, free speech, identity, gender, COVID mandates, race, politics, and America's spiritual crisis. Pastor Joe notes that Brad has been called “God's Comic” and recalls meeting him personally in church settings where his humor and ministry made a strong impression. The show then plays an extended clip of Brad's stand-up, giving listeners a sense of his rapid-fire style, cultural commentary, sarcasm, and willingness to confront controversial subjects directly. Laughing at the Language of Cultural Confusion In the comedy clip, Brad takes on modern identity politics, pronouns, cancel culture, and the way language is used to redefine reality. He jokes about being a man “the old-fashioned way,” being Christian, being white, and being conservative, while arguing that people are often manipulated through changing definitions. He uses examples such as “super spreader,” “peaceful protest,” “insurrection,” “domestic terrorist,” and “safe for democracy” to make the point that whoever controls language can control public perception. His larger message is that people must learn to “laugh while it's legal” and call out what he sees as cultural absurdity. Conserving Common Sense Brad explains in the clip that being conservative does not necessarily mean being loyal to a political party. He says he wants to conserve the original intent of the Constitution, history, wisdom, and common sense. He criticizes elites and billionaires who, in his view, tell ordinary people how to live while promoting climate policies that he finds hypocritical or impractical. His jokes about cows, flatulence, windmills, fossil fuels, and miniature cow-powered turbines use absurdity to make a broader point about energy, environmental policy, and what he sees as the loss of practical reasoning. From Stand-Up Comedy to Ministry After the clip, Brad joins the conversation and explains how he began as a stand-up comic in nightclubs while maintaining his Christian convictions. He says he avoided profanity and sexual material because he wanted to compete at the highest level without compromising his faith. Over time, he felt drawn beyond entertainment into ministry. Comedy, he says, became the “flavor” or delivery system for a deeper message about culture, freedom, faith, discipleship, and America's need to remember what made it free and spiritually grounded. A Missionary to America Brad describes himself as a “missionary to America.” He says he loves the country without worshiping it, believes America is historically significant and uniquely free, and feels responsible for defending both religious liberty and the Christian foundations that shaped the nation. He argues that cultural Marxism, progressive ideology, secular religion, and spiritual deception are working to weaken the West from within. For Brad, comedy is not merely entertainment; it is a way to confront what he sees as lies, hypocrisy, and spiritual compromise. Christianity Versus Discipleship One of the strongest themes of the conversation is Brad's distinction between being a “Christian” in name and being a true disciple. He says many American churchgoers treat Christianity as a label rather than a costly calling. Salvation, he explains, is free because of Christ's work, but discipleship costs everything. Brad argues that believers in America often have not had to suffer for their faith in the way believers do in places such as Nigeria, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Myanmar, India, North Korea, China, and other countries where persecution is real and visible. The Cost of Truth The team discusses suffering, boldness, and the willingness to speak truth even when it causes offense. Brad says truth is supposed to offend when it exposes what is false, because conviction is meant to lead people toward repentance and freedom. Dr. Paul Hall connects this to Scripture, especially the idea that Christ's suffering was central to salvation and that believers should not be surprised when following Christ also involves suffering. Brad and the hosts agree that American churches often avoid this message because it is uncomfortable, but they see it as essential to authentic faith. Comedy as a Gift Given Back to God Dr. Craig Thayer comments on Brad's ability to take cultural untruths and expose them through humor. Brad responds by reflecting on the meaning of a spiritual gift. A gift, he says, is not something a person earned or created; it is something given. Because of that, no one should brag about it or treat it as a personal trophy. The only faithful response is to give the gift back to God so it can be used for His purposes. Brad says his comedy, communication style, and boldness are not superior to anyone else's gifts, but they are the specific tools God entrusted to him. Inspiring Others to Speak Brad says people often thank him for being brave or for saying what they were thinking but were afraid to say. While he appreciates that encouragement, he also tells listeners that inspiration should lead to action. If his boldness inspires someone, then that person should “go forth and do likewise” in the territory God has assigned them. He stresses that every believer has a “Nineveh,” a specific area of responsibility where they are called to speak, serve, and obey. The Church as a Place of Refreshing and Sending Brad also challenges the idea that church is mainly where nonbelievers should be brought to get saved. He says the church is where believers should be strengthened, refreshed, and equipped so they can go into the marketplace and share the gospel. This leads to a broader critique of what he sees as shallow American Christianity, where church attendance can replace actual discipleship, courage, and public witness. For Brad, the church must train believers to carry truth into the world, not merely gather comfortably inside church walls. Speaking Truth With Love and Boldness Stefanie Thayer shares a recent personal experience about having a difficult conversation with someone who was unchurched and surprisingly open to spiritual truth. She reflects that people outside the church may sometimes be more receptive than those shaped by denominational comfort or religious assumptions. Brad agrees that love without truth is not truly love. The conversation emphasizes that Christians are called to speak boldly, but with purpose, conviction, and obedience, not with cruelty or arrogance. Dangerous Times and a Willingness to Keep Going Brad acknowledges that his kind of comedy and ministry can come with real risk. He speaks about opposition, threats, and the possibility that the cultural climate may become more hostile toward Christians and conservatives. Still, he says he intends to keep speaking. The hosts respond by affirming their prayers for Brad, his family, and his ministry. Brad says he has seen growing interest from churches, conservative groups, GOP events, and ministries that now recognize the importance of the warnings he has been giving for decades. Closing With Prayer, Gratitude, and Raised Expectations The episode closes with Pastor Joe thanking Brad for his time, courage, and ministry. Brad directs listeners to BradStine.com, mentions his podcast Brad Stine Has Issues, and says he is available for comedy events, church services, men's events, apologetics, marriage conferences, and other ministry settings. Pastor Joe and the team promise to keep him in prayer and close the program by reminding listeners to keep raising expectations in their homes, hearts, faith, families, and future.

In 1952, at the height of Soviet power, Ludwig von Mises stood in the San Francisco Public Library and systematically dismantled Marx—not just his economics, but his philosophy, his theory of history, and his manipulation of language. This is the fifth of nine lectures, published in 2006 as Marxism Unmasked.Mises examines why Marxism went essentially unchallenged for decades—not because its arguments were strong, but because its opponents rarely engaged its philosophical foundations. He traces the intellectual lineage from Saint-Simon's totalitarian world council through Comte's positivism to Marx's dialectical materialism, showing how each system claimed to have discovered the final truth and therefore demanded the end of free inquiry. Along the way, Mises dismantles the conflation of Marxism with Freudian psychoanalysis, explains why governments have a built-in bias toward socialism, and reveals that the word "organize" entered political language as a Napoleonic term meaning to treat individuals as a builder treats stones. The essay's central insight is deceptively simple: the debate was never between planning and chaos. It was always between the plan of the dictator and the plans of free individuals—and the police exist to settle the dispute.

Joti Brar | 28 January 2024 What are some of the key lessons we need to take from Lenin and the Bolsheviks in the coming period of rising revolutionary struggle? Lenin was the great Marxist thinker who reinstated the revolutionary content into Marxism and updated it for the era of imperialism. His work remains as essential as ever to all those struggling for a better world. This article is a slightly extended version of a speech given by Joti Brar to a symposium that was held in Istanbul, Turkey, on 13 January to mark the centenary of Lenin's death. ---------------------------------------------- Subscribe! **What you'll discover:**We begin by revisiting Revelation 16 and the three unclean spirits “like frogs” – which we previously connected to the French Revolution's ideals of liberty, fraternity, and equality. These spirits, we suggest, are now actively uniting the world against Israel. Using a second approach – observing current events – we find this framework confirmed in a **revealing** way. From the UN's disproportionate condemnation of Israel (as noted by Prime Minister Netanyahu) to the shocking scenes in London, Sydney, and New York just days after the October 7th massacre, we see prophecy unfolding before our eyes. We examine surveys showing that over half of young adults in the US and UK believe Israel should not exist – a **wonderful** (in the sense of awe-inspiring) confirmation that the nations are aligning exactly as Scripture foretold. We then trace the modern spirit of “woke” back to its roots in the French Revolution and Marxism, showing how this oppressor-oppressed framework has turned against the Jewish people and the nation of Israel. What appears as anti‑Zionism is often a repackaged form of ancient antisemitism – and we explain how the Soviet Union's propaganda after the Six‑Day War seeded much of what we see today. Finally, we ask: what does this mean for Bible believers? How does this cultural revolution challenge those who seek to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in a world gone mad? This is a **revealing** and practical application that will strengthen your resolve to stand on God's Word.Chapters:00:00 – Introduction: world news from a biblical standpoint 00:20 – Recap: the three frog‑like spirits from Revelation 16 and the French Revolution 00:59 – A second approach: observing the world uniting against Israel 01:36 – From the French Revolution to the UN Human Rights framework 02:17 – Nations gathering against Israel – what Revelation 16 foretells 02:49 – Netanyahu on the UN's disproportionate bias against Israel 03:40 – The October 7th attack and the world's frightening reaction (London, Sydney, New York) 04:51 – EU survey: antisemitism as a “big problem” for 90% of French Jews 05:40 – Young people's views in the US and UK: over half want Israel ended 06:25 – Prophecy being fulfilled before our eyes 06:45 – Rising antisemitism and fear among Jews worldwide 07:11 – What is “woke”? Engels once called dialectics “the science of the general laws of motion, both of the external world and of human thought”.It is the philosophy of motion and change. It was on the foundations of this philosophy that Marx and Engels developed their analysis of class society, of the rise and the inevitable fall of the capitalist system. But motion and change are ubiquitous, not only to human life but also to nature as a whole. Everything from the evolution of species to the formation of our solar system is governed by constant transformation. To better understand the world in which we live, we must learn to apply dialectical materialism to all spheres of life, above all to the natural world. This talk by Ben Curry focuses on the scientific philosophy of Marxism, dialectical materialism.
Fr. Mark welcomes Catholic author and speaker Carrie Gress to discuss her powerful new book Something Wicked: Why Feminism Can't Be Fused with Christianity. In this timely conversation, Carrie explains why the feminist movement, rooted in Marxism, envy, contempt for men, and radical autonomy, is fundamentally incompatible with Christian anthropology. She contrasts it with John Paul II's vision of women, complementarity, fruitfulness, and authentic femininity grounded in Scripture and the dignity of the human person. From the historical roots of feminism and its quasi-religious structure to the importance of motherhood, beauty, spiritual maternity, and the genius of women as life-givers, this episode offers clarity and hope for rebuilding a culture that honors the true gifts of men and women. A must-listen for anyone navigating today's gender debates, marriage, family, and the role of women in the Church and world.

What did "materialism" actually mean to the ancients, and how does it differ from our modern scientific understanding? In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Max Wade (Ph.D., Boston College) to bridge the gap between ancient Greek ontology and modern philosophical debates. We dive deep into the "weirdness" of ancient thought, exploring why the Stoics believed in physical gods and why the Epicureans were the only true ancient materialists. Dr. Wade challenges the secularized modern reading of Socrates and Plato, revealing how their theories of divine design were actually a reactionary response to pre-Socratic natural philosophy. In this episode, we discuss:The Miriology of Being: Why the relationship between parts and wholes is the key to unlocking ancient ontology.Active vs. Passive Matter: The crucial distinction that separates Platonists, Aristotelians, and Stoics from the Epicureans. The "Swerve": Why materialism and determinism were considered incompatible in the ancient world.Plato's Atlantis & Egyptian Wisdom: Why reading Plato literally misses his point about the soul's forgetfulness and eternal truth.Marxism & Hegel: How modern materialism is often a misreading of ancient concepts through a German Idealist lens.About Our Guest: Dr. Max Wade is a scholar of ancient philosophy whose dissertation focused on Plotinus' Ontology of Artifacts. Before the marches, before the movements, there was a battle. And most of us were never taught who fought it or who lost. Monique and Kevin sit down with Dr. Karen Ellis, theological ethicist and researcher at The Center for Christian Endurance, to uncover the largely erased story of Black Baptist leaders who recognized Marxist ideological pressure for what it was and refused it. The painful irony Dr. Ellis's research surfaces is this: what the Black church once bled to keep out has now largely been welcomed in, dressed in justice language and preached from Black pulpits as if it were gospel. This is not merely a history lesson. It's a warning and a call. Off Code #80 Season 5, Episode 10
In a shocking case that's left many wondering about the state of justice, a jury recently delivered a verdict that's sparked heated debate. The case involves a 19-year-old who claimed self-defense after stabbing a 17-year-old to death at a high school track meet. But what's really going on here? Is this a case of racial bias, or is something more sinister at play? This episode delves into the details of the case, exploring the motivations behind the verdict and the societal implications of the George Floyd effect. The speaker examines how the left is trying to manipulate public opinion and create a narrative that doesn't quite add up. By looking at similar cases like Trayvon Martin, Freddie Gray, and Michael Brown, we can see a pattern emerging. But what does this mean for our understanding of justice and the role of police in our communities? The speaker argues that the George Floyd effect is a result of the left's efforts to create a narrative that police are out to get black people. But is this narrative based on fact or fiction? By examining the details of these cases, we can see that the truth is often more complex than we're led to believe. The speaker also touches on the role of Marxism in perpetuating this narrative and how it's affecting the black community. If you're interested in understanding the complexities of this case and the societal implications of the George Floyd effect, tune in to this episode to hear the speaker's insightful analysis and discussion. Bridget sits down with Xi Van Fleet, author of Made in America: The Hidden History of How the U.S. Enabled Communist China and Created Our Greatest Threat. Xi is a survivor of China's Cultural Revolution and traces the eerie parallels between Mao's revolution and today's woke ideology. She draws on her own experience — growing up under the CCP, enduring re-education in the countryside, and eventually escaping to America — to argue that cultural Marxism is not a foreign threat but a homegrown one, and that American elites have been enabling the CCP's rise since the 1920s. They dig into the difference between economic communism and cultural Marxism, the red-green alliance between the Left and Islamism, how political correctness becomes speech control and eventually control of the mind, China's bot farms and information warfare operations, the social credit creep in the United States, why the enemy within is far more dangerous than the one overseas, why studying American history might be what saves us, and Xi's assertion that Communism is a virus that has killed hundreds of millions of people, it won't disappear, and it always needs to be fought against. Robert Owen was a factory owner, a social reformer, the father of British socialism… and possibly the nicest company-town tyrant in history. Long before Karl Marx called for revolution, Owen tried to build a kinder version of capitalism: humane factories, universal education, shorter work days, and workers treated like human beings instead of expendable machinery. His model industrial town at New Lanark became world famous, attracting kings, intellectuals, and even the Tsar of Russia. But success convinced Owen he could go further. So he sold everything and moved to Indiana to build a socialist utopia from scratch. What followed was a chaotic experiment involving communal child rearing, endless committee meetings, militant intellectuals, religious clashes, labor shortages, and eventually… the ghost of Thomas Jefferson. In this episode, Heaton travels to Scotland to explore the strange rise and catastrophic collapse of Robert Owen's alternate-universe socialism—and asks whether history might have looked very different if Owenism, rather than Marxism, had become the dominant socialist tradition.
According to a recent report, students who attended disrupted elementary school years due to the COVID-19 Pandemic have shown no recovery, and many are worse off than they were in the early 2010's. Seth argues that the emphasis on teaching critical race theory and Marxism in educational institutions is leading to a dumbed-down education system, where students are not learning the fundamentals. Listener call-in commentary on commercials from the 1970’s and food suggestions for Producer David Doll’s Instagram. We’re joined by Don Spini and Logan Marcus, Esq. from Sun Valley Wealth. Kinsella on Liberty Podcast: Episode 491. https://youtu.be/lfjpoKCWBDA I've known Paul Cwik, Professor of Economics and Finance at the University of Mount Olive and fellow of the Mises Institute since I started attending the Austrian Scholars Conference in 1995. He is an Austrian and libertarian of sorts but had some qualms with my anti-IP writing so presented a paper "Is There Room for Intellectual Property Rights in Austrian Economics?" at the Austrian Scholars Conference in 2008, which I attended and commented on. After 18 years we finally decided to get around to talking about this. I had planned on an hour but we ended up talking for 3. It turns out we were old friends but not that close; we didn't know much about each other. So the first 30-50 minutes or so is more preliminary discussion. To his credit, he read a good deal of the huge deluge of material I sent to read up on and asked many very good questions. He did not engage in intentional equivocation that is characteristic of many on the pro-IP side, and he was reasonable in conceding many of my points and was willing to ponder my push back. I was hoping to get him to see the light, since I have in person seen many people change their minds on IP after a long discussion but have never had it happen while recording. We did not resolve the issue, partly because we just didn't have enough time to keep going, but I think we made some progress. Maybe we will have a Part 2 later. Who knows. For now, some relevant links pertaining to some of the topics discussed. I will organize this better later. Locke correctly argued that the first person to “mix his labor with” an unowned resource owns it, since he thereby establishes an objective link to the resource which gives him a better claim to it than latecomers.[55] However, Locke based his argument on the confused and unnecessary idea that a person “owns” his labor and “therefore” owns resources that he mixes it with. But labor is not owned—it is an action, something a person performs with his body, which he does own—and this assumption is not needed for the Lockean labor-mixture argument to work.[56] This mistaken notion leads some people to favor IP because they figure that if you own a scarce resource because you mix your labor with it, you also own useful ideas that are produced with your labor. The related Smith-Ricardo-Marx labor theory of value, which underlies Marxism and socialism, is also sometimes used to support IP, as when people argue that if you work or labor, you “deserve” some kind of reward or profit. All this focus on labor must be rejected as overly metaphorical and confused, and, frankly, Marxian.[57]" On Libertarian Legal Theory, Self-Ownership and Drug Laws: p. 632 Libertarianism After Fifty Years: What Have We Learned?, p. 687 Creationism: Libertarian and Lockean Creationism: Creation As a Source of Wealth, not Property Right Libertarian Creationism KOL012 | “The Intellectual Property Quagmire, or, The Perils of Libertarian Creationism,” Austrian Scholars Conference 2008 KOL037 | Locke's Big Mistake: How the Labor Theory of Property Ruined Political Theory Part III.C.2 C. The Nobel family (which are the namesake of the Nobel prize), had a rags-to-riches story bigger than the Rockefellers or Morgans. The Nobel patriarch Emanuel fled debtor’s prison in 1837. He then travelled east and built a foundation for the largest oil empire in Russian history. Three generations of Nobels invented the world's first oil tanker, stopped the Royal Navy cold with undersea mines during the Crimean War, and outmaneuvered both Rockefeller and the Rothschilds in the world's first great corporate oil war. Then the Bolsheviks arrived. Lenin nationalized everything overnight, Stalin personally targeted the family patriarch for arrest, and the man who quietly made the Nobel Prize a reality had to escape revolutionary Russia in a horse-drawn cart wearing a disguise, with forged papers and three borrowed children to complete the ruse. It is one of the great lost stories of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, overshadowing the very prizes that bear the family name. Today's guest is Douglas Brunt, author of The Lost Empire of Emanuel Nobel. We discuss how capitalism and Marxism grew up in the same Russian cities before their catastrophic collision, why Emanuel Nobel defied the King of Sweden to ensure his uncle Alfred's will was honored, and what it actually looked like when Lenin's pen stroke erased three generations of Nobel engineering genius in a single day. We explore this story of oil, revolution, and a dynasty that fueled the world and then vanished.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Imprisoned by fascist dictator Benito Mussolini in 1926, the prison writings of Italian Marxist theorist Antonio Gramsci remain essential 100 years later for understanding how fascism, policing, and incarceration function to suppress political dissent and preserve unequal systems of power. I don't tend to use the word "periodizing" for the project of This Is Your Afterlife, but when I ask my guests, "What's your coma?," I'm absolutely "categorizing the past into discrete, quantified, and named blocks of time for the purpose of study or analysis" (thanks, Wikipedia). Periodization is the explicit project of The Return of the 90s: A Cultural History of the Present, a new book edited by Sean O'Brien and TIYA friend Madeline Lane-McKinley. In another two-episode week, I'm talking to them about this cultural criticism project and personalizing it. What world did the 90s leave us with? What do we make of the decade's resurgence? And what does it mean if the world we remember never existed in the first place?First up is Sean's solo episode, in which I roll out the purple carpet to give him the same TIYA treatment Madeline got with her solo episode. Then on Friday, I talk to them both in a more free-form conversation about the book, so stay tuned! We talk: an intro to Marxism, the need for sleep, WIRED magazine, afterlife as anti-work utopia, prostrating at the altar of academia, lessons he learned from watching his mother die with grace.Support the show and get the TIYA After Dark feed on Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/thisisyourafterlifeThe Return of the 90s: A Cultural History of the Present:https://www.plutobooks.com/product/the-return-of-the-90s/Follow Sean and find out about book events:https://twitter.com/sean_obeehttps://www.instagram.com/sean_ob/Listen to Sean on Genre Reveal Party!, my movie podcast with Madeline:https://pod.link/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5jYXB0aXZhdGUuZm0vZ2VucmUtcmV2ZWFsLXBhcnR5Lw/episode/N2VkOTY1M2ItOTgwMy00OWQwLWIyZmQtYzdlNDA2M2QyYTlmFollow/contact This Is Your Afterlife:https://thisisyourafterlife.com/https://www.instagram.com/thisisyourafterlife/thisisyourafterlifepodcast@gmail.comMusic by TIYA house band Lake Mary:https://lakemary.bandcamp.com/https://www.instagram.com/chaz.prymek/Artwork by Matt Sage:https://www.instagram.com/matthewjsage/

This week on the Mark Levin Show, on October 7, 2023, Palestinian terrorists from Gaza, backed by Qatar, Turkey, and Iran, attacked Israel, murdering 1,200 people through extreme brutality. If drug cartels had done the same on the Texas border the U.S. would not tolerate it or fight with the restraint Israel showed in Gaza, such as issuing warnings and leaflets. Israel, a small nation, has faced ongoing attacks from Hamas and Hezbollah yet is repeatedly told to back off just as it nears destroying these groups, allowing Hamas to rearm despite a supposed peace deal. The U.S. fought Iran alongside Israel, but now pressures Israel to stop while Hamas remains armed and Hezbollah continues threats. Why is Israel not permitted to fully defend itself? Bari Weiss is a genuine journalist who is challenging CBS's entrenched radical mindset by promoting more moderate, professional journalists, which has provoked attacks from figures like Scott Pelley. There are CBS personalities like Pelley who are whiny, narcissistic, privileged, entitled buffoons who are driving down ratings. Meanwhile, Hasan Piker and Cenk Uygur are complaining that they were banned from Britain over their views on Israel and terrorism, while affirming First Amendment free speech. They hate America, trash its Judeo-Christian and Enlightenment values, and support regimes like communist China, Cuba, Islamist Iran, and Turkey where free speech is suppressed—yet demand sympathy when facing restrictions themselves. There is a growing domestic Marxist-Islamist threat, funded by Qatar, China, and others, that is organizing, building enclaves, and infiltrating politics. In breaking news, there are reports of multiple explosions in Bahrain, hours after Iran claimed precise missile strikes on U.S. bases in Kuwait and the IRGC warned of further seismic responses to American actions. Iran appears emboldened rather than defeated by reading U.S. restraint as weakness. The IRGC needs to be pounded, and the Iranian people need to be armed. Later, the core defect of Marxism is its fundamental misstatement and misapplication of human nature. Rather than being an economic philosophy aimed at equality or fairness, it uses economics and redistribution as camouflage to advance totalitarianism, seeking to control individuals, thought processes, and ultimately create a society of compliant robots. This ideology, like Islam, employs appeal to compassion and justice as propaganda while intending the opposite. It cannot work because human nature, created by God, cannot be intentionally destroyed and rejiggered by man. The practical goal is demographic transformation to build dependent, like-minded societies that can be dominated, eventually extending this control nationally. The Democrat Party serves as the vessel for Islamists and Marxists to seize control of the U.S. government, as these groups avoid Republican primaries and instead target dark blue districts where primary wins guarantee victory. Low American voter turnout combined with ruthless Muslim bloc voting has enabled conquest. There are grave concerns over the ongoing war with the Islamist Nazi enemy regime in Iran, which is making increasing demands including billions in aid that should not be provided in any form, as it would only rebuild their terrorist apparatus rather than help the people. The prolonged ceasefire is a mistake after an initially successful campaign. We should have 2 weeks of massive strikes on IRGC targets and arm the Iranian people. Learn more about your ad choices. The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – During my lifetime, I have watched as Marxism, under many different names, has slowly taken control of the United States. From political correctness to progressivism, it seems the American people have forgotten all of the ills that come along with this man's theories about how the world works. Today, these theories are not only rampant in America...
Dave Rubin of "The Rubin Report" talks to Eric Metaxas about his new book "Revolution: The Birth of the Greatest Nation in the History of the World" and why the American Revolution created an unprecedented system of liberty, self-government, and constitutional rights rooted in faith and personal responsibility; the forgotten heroism of America's Founding Fathers including George Washington, John Adams, Samuel Adams, Nathan Hale, and Henry Knox; why patriotism, Christianity, and understanding American history are essential ahead of America's 250th anniversary; how the left, Marxism, and anti-American narratives have reshaped education and culture; and why preserving freedom, the Constitution, and the American experiment requires civic engagement, sacrifice, and moral courage, and much more.

On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, in a Senate hearing, Secretary of State Marco Rubio testified on Iran negotiations, emphasizing condition-based sanctions relief and the critical need to address Iran's ballistic missile capabilities. Any sanctions relief for Iran would fund the regime's army, IRGC, and security forces rather than the suffering people. We need to arm the Iranian people to enable an uprising. This terrorist regime seeks to destroy America and Israel while the current efforts fail to apply maximum pressure. We should not negotiate with or cut deals with terrorists because it emboldens enemies. The isolationists and the Woke Reich give aid and comfort to our adversaries. An office this complex, with hiring structures and a $1.6M budget already in place before it launched, was designed before the election. This is the first indicator: it was pre-planned infrastructure, not responsive governance.SPONSOR: Lear CapitalGold and silver are at all-time highs as central banks, sovereign funds, and major institutions like Morgan Stanley shift capital out of the dollar and into precious metals. Join Dale Partridge as he unpacks the Post-War Consensus and explains how America went from a strong, nationalistic, patriarchal, Christian nation to a secular hellhole of diversity, tolerance, feminism, multiculturalism, and radical individualism in under 60 years. In this episode, Dale traces the historical foundations that erased racial, sexual, national, and religious distinctions, reveals the five main drivers behind the shift—including collective guilt, Marxism, globalism, and the triumph of the selfish Boomer generation—and delivers a hard-hitting Weekly Audit exposing black partiality in the court system and the relentless cultivation of white guilt in mainstream media.
