A lot of people have been asking about how to get started, how to lose a hundred pounds, or they want to feel healthier. I'll give you a couple tips to help you start. I'm about to put chili in our crock pot so that when we go to CrossFit and come home, there's food for the kids, and everybody's happy, no hungry tummies. One of the biggest tips I tell people as they are starting to get healthier, trying to get back on the health wagon, gettting focused or refocused, is to seriously not overcomplicate things. Recently, we had some trouble with our front door lock. The deadbolt would unlock 98% of the way. But, the 2% that remained still made it impossible to enter our home. In today's podcast we use the word D-O-O-R as an acronym to discuss some of the issues that may be preventing someone from successfully passing through to the next goal on their keto journey. 00:00-03:17A 2% blockage is enough to lock you out of success 03:59-07:11 Discouragement There's a lot of emotion involved when you get to that point of “I've got to do something.”  We can be discouraged by past failures. It is intensified when we believe “nobody but me needs to do something.” We can contemplate thoughts like “EVERYBODY else is getting by with eating whatever they want.” Of course, that's not true. We only see what's on the outside.  07:12-10:35 Opinions Stop shopping your plan with everyone.  10:36-15:17 Overthinking  Avoid analysis paralysis.  We can find pro research and con research on any topic.  Don't wait until all the researchers agree before you move forward, because that will never happen. You don't need a perfect understanding of keto before you more forward with it. 15:18-17:30 Regret  Don't wait until the holidays are over to get started. I woke up that morning in a suite at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. I felt terrible.I was in town for a trade show and the night before a client had taken me to dinner. We ordered these massive, hundred-dollar steaks, drank several glasses of wine, and gorged ourselves on ice cream and desserts. I’d brought the leftovers back to the room and they were still sitting on the counter. I glanced around the room. Although they had upgraded my room to a suite, the place was run down and sad. There was a Jacuzzi in the middle of the room and the place reeked of alcohol a previous guest had spilled. I got out of bed and looked at myself in the full-length mirror. I was six-foot-two and I weighed 235 pounds I carried it well, but, not well enough. I felt sick. I was flabby and tired and filled with regret and remorse. I was going through my second divorce, I was in a lawsuit with my first wife, and my blood pressure was so high that my doctor had put me on medicine to control it. Vegas baby! As I stood in front of the mirror, I asked myself, “How the hell did I get here?”     Part CEO, part personal development wonk, and part biohacker info geek, King is a self-confessed serial entrepreneur.
