In this week's MBA Admissions podcast we began by discussing the Round 3 activity on LiveWire; interview invites are now starting to roll out for this shortened application round. Graham then announced the recent partnership Clear Admit has now established with Leland, which will now become our partner for MBA admissions coaching, test prep, and career counseling. Graham noted Clear Admit's Application Overview May series of events. These online events will be hosted on May 6 and 7, and May 20 and 21. Signups are here: https://bit.ly/appoverview25 Sandwiched in the middle of these events is Clear Admit's MBA admissions fair in Boston, on May 14th. Twenty-four of the top 25 U.S.-based MBA programs are planning to attend, along with London Business School. Signups for this event are here: https://bit.ly/mbafair2025 Graham noted a Clear Admit admissions tip focused on what candidates need to do, if they were not able to secure admissions at the targeted MBA programs. Graham then highlighted two recent articles from Clear Admit that focus on NYU / Stern's new dean, and UPenn / Wharton's new AI major. We then discussed the recent publication of 2025 US News's rankings, which led to a discussion on their overall methodology. Graham highlighted four Real Humans alumni spotlights, alums from IMD working at Johnson & Johnson, Cornell / Johnson working at Elephant Energy, Vanderbilt / Owen working at Amazon, and London Business School working as an entrepreneur. For this week, for the candidate profile review portion of the show, Alex selected one ApplyWire entry and two DecisionWire entries: This week's first MBA admissions candidate is clearly non-traditional; for that reason, we discussed some of the approaches that non-traditional candidates need to pursue, including a strong focus on “why MBA” and their goals. This week's second MBA candidate is choosing between Berkeley / Haas and Northwestern / Kellogg's MBAi. They want to do product management in tech, in Texas. The final MBA candidate is choosing between UVA / Darden and NYU / Stern. They have a full-ride scholarship at both and want to purse MBB consulting. This episode was recorded in Atlanta, Georgia and Cornwall, England. It was produced and engineered by the fabulous Dennis Crowley in Philadelphia, USA. Send us a textI'm so thrilled to welcome travel expert, host, and executive producer of Dream of Italy and Dream of Europe on PBS, Kathy McCabe.Kathy is so incredibly talented, and when you're watching one of her shows, you'd never know some of the trials and tribulations she's endured. I think this is such a beautiful example of never really knowing what someone is going through just based off of seeing them on social media or TV, or even in person. After unexpectedly losing both of her parents, she found herself on a journey of self-discovery and healing through her adventures across Italy.Reconnecting with her Italian heritage, building a successful career, and choosing a path that doesn't follow traditional societal norms for Gen X women of marriage or motherhood has been transformative for her. Now, she hopes to encourage others who may feel like they don't fit into these molds to find fulfillment in their own way.Today's conversation is all about embracing an unconventional path in life, and how travel helped her cope with the grief of losing both her parents.Kathy's perspective comes from her personal experiences and 22+ years of travel storytelling through her award-winning series, and we have a really beautiful and vulnerable conversation that I have no doubt you'll resonate with.Connect with Kathy:https://dreamofitaly.com/https://www.instagram.com/dreamofitaly/https://www.instagram.com/dreamofeuropetv/Discover and listen to the Taste Toast Travel Podcast, available wherever you get your podcasts and Youtube! https://tastetoasttravel.com/ Learn more about my 14-Day Relief in Your Grief Experience: https://lossesbecomegains.com/relief-in-griefWork with me: 14-Day Relief in Your Grief Challenge: https://lossesbecomegains.com/relief-in-grief Explore the membership: https://lossesbecomegains.com/membership Work with me one-on-one: https://lossesbecomegains.com/work-with-tara Connect with me further: Leave a voice note through Speakpipe! https://www.speakpipe.com/LifeWithGrief Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lossesbecomegains/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lifewithgriefpodcast/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/losses.become.gains Website: https://lossesbecomegains.com/ Shop the LBG Daily Journal: https://lossesbecomegains.com/journal By accessing this Podcast, I acknowledge that the entire contents are the property of Tara Accardo, or used by Tara Accardo with permission. Klein is a product of experiential project-based education herself, and she lives and breathes the student-centered pedagogies used to educate her. She became a teacher during graduate school in 1990, quickly finding the intersection between her love of writing and her fascination with educational transformation and its potential impact on social change. A former head of school with extensive international experience and over 30 years in education--including 19 in the classroom--Jennifer facilitates dynamic, interactive workshops for teachers, leaders and students, working to amplify student voice, to provide the tools for high-quality project-based learning in all cultural and socio-economic contexts, and to shift school culture to support such practices. Motivated by her belief that all children deserve a meaningful, relevant education like the one she experienced herself, and that giving them such an education will catalyze positive change in their communities and beyond, Jennifer strives to inspire educators to shift their practices in schools worldwide.Jennifer's first book, The Global Education Guidebook, was published in 2017, and her second, The Landscape Model of Learning: Designing Student-Centered Experiences for Cognitive and Cultural Inclusion, written with co-author Kapono Ciotti, was published in 2022.Enjoying the show? Holmes and Guy then compared the previous administration's accountability and clarity in their press conferences to the remarkable accessibility of the current Trump White House. There are plenty of things about being an attorney that make it seem less than desirable as a potential career choice. The long hours are pretty much a given and there's a reason that most portrayals of lawyers include some allusion to titanic amounts of stress. But one thing that I would venture a guess most law students don't consider is how genuinely uncomfortable and awkward our profession can truly be. Unless you're devoid of empathy AND immune to first, second, or even third-hand embarrassment, the law of large numbers means you're going to find yourself in a scenario that feels like the worst episode of a sitcom you already didn't like. The importance of telling your client something they don't want to hear is nothing new, but as my guest today has seen in her decades of practice, when it comes to the complexity of the legal system it's generally the folks who THOUGHT they understood what was happening who end up taking the biggest emotional hit.Rachel A. King is an attorney in practicing in California, Arizona, Kentucky, and Texas.A veteran of the U.S. military Rachel served in the Army as a paralegal and Communication Specialist before earning her JD from Thomas Jefferson School of Law.As the founder of the King Law Firm, Rachel is Board Certified in the area of Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law, and is committed to the legal success of her clients and believes communication is essential for a successful attorney-client relationship. She not only proves this daily in her practice, but as the host of the Gavels Down, Voices Uppodcast which aims to demystify the legal system, and as the author of the forthcoming book, "Getting Divorced, Now What?", a guide which aims to be a compassionate, relatable roadmap for those who may not be able afford an attorney. We talk about everything from what it's like to grow up in a legal family, why a nontraditional route to law school is often more of an asset than a liability, and why – no matter how much we may want it – as a boss, we eventually have to choose between being a leader and a friend. Enjoy the show.
