Jesco Denzel ist “World Press Photo Award” Gewinner 2018 und offizieller Fotograf der deutschen Bundesregierung. Er teilt die Geschichte hinter dem Gewinner-Foto, das in Makoko (Lagos) entstand und erklärt welche Aufgabe er genau als offizieller Fotograf der Bundesregierung hat. Darüber hinaus erzählt Jesco, was ihm an seiner Arbeit als Fotojournalist besonders wichtig ist.

Todd Hido is an American photographer born in Ohio and who for many years has been based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He received a BFA from Tufts University in Massachusetts, and an MFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts. He is currently an adjunct professor at the California College of Art in San Francisco. Todd’s images have featured in many publications, have been exhibited widely and are included in various prestigious public and private collections, most notably, Pier 24 Photography in San Francisco which holds the archive of all his published works. He has over a dozen published books to his name, including a mid-career survey entitled Intimate Distance: Twenty-Five Years of Photographs published in 2016 by Aperture, and his most recent monograph is Bright Black World, which was released by Nazraeli Press in 2018 and is already sold out. Franziska Strauss ist Dokumentarfotografin mit den Schwerpunkten Straßen- und Tanzfotografie, womit sie während diverser Foto-Praktika unter anderem in New York und Chicago begann. Neben der Fotografie verdient sie ihr Geld mit Retuschearbeiten. Sie erzählt, wie es ist, den Anspruch eines Profis an die eigene fotografische Arbeit zu haben, von der Fotografie alleine jedoch nicht leben zu können. Zugleich gibt sie Einblick, woher ihre Leidenschaft zur Tanzfotografie kommt und welche inneren Konflikte sie in Bezug auf die Streetfotografie immer wieder mit sich selbst austrägt.

Peter Bitzer ist Geschäftsführer von laif, einer der deutschen Top-Agenturen für Fotos und Reportagen und gewährt interessante Einblicke in das Geschäft einer Bildagentur. Er berichtet darüber, wie eine Bildagentur, die sich auf Zweitverwertung spezialisiert hat, täglich arbeitet, aber auch wie sich dieses Kerngeschäft in den letzten 20 Jahren verändert hat. Peter verrät, wie er ein gutes Bild erkennt und wie man als Fotograf Mitglied von laif werden kann.
