This week we've got Isiah Kelly in the NNFA Turtle Lair to talk about growing up as the son of a stand-up comic, forging his own path, and why having a famous last name doesn't guarantee success. We talk whether nepotism really exists in Black comedy, growing up as a comedian's son and the pressure that comes with it. Then Dave accidentally letting a comic walk around with a roach on him and why men and women handle awkward situations differently, gaming culture, trash talk, and comic life offstage, Dave's new boxing routine (powered by Britney Spears), watching The Odyssey in 4DX, Usher's viral fan rejection and the internet's reaction, the age-old question: could you go to a strip club with your dad? Plus Jim Jones, John Lennon, and one of the most random debates you'll hear this week!DON'T FORGET TO LIKE, SHARE & SUBSCRIBE Watch “Gone in 60 Steps"! https://www.youtube.com/@GoneIn60Steps MERCH https://nnfa.creator-spring.com/ BONUS CONTENT https://www.patreon.com/c/ImDaveTemple?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink -----------------Follow host Derek GainesIG https://www.instagram.com/thegreatboy/ YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEQDlfXd3hPcpTkU8xHYBTg Follow host Dave TempleIG https://www.instagram.com/imdavetemple/ YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@DAT46Follow guest Isiah KellyIG https://www.instagram.com/isiahkelly/ Follow No Need for ApologiesIG https://www.instagram.com/nnfapodcast/ TT https://www.tiktok.com/@noneedforapologies FB https://www.facebook.com/noneedforapologies/Produced by Teona SashaIG https://www.instagram.com/teonasasha/TT https://www.tiktok.com/@teonasasha -----------------To advertise your product on our podcasts please email jimmy@gasdigitalmarketing.com with a brief description about your product and any shows you may be interested in advertising on.SEND US MAIL:GaS Digital StudiosAttn: NNFA151 1st Ave # 311New York, NY 10003"No Need for Apologies" - NEW Episodes every Saturday at 3PM/ET on YouTube-----------------⏱️CHAPTERS00:00 Intro00:45 Welcome to the Show02:24 Isiah Kelly Joins the Show04:10 Is There Nepotism in Black Comedy?06:00 Dave's Apology of the Week11:10 Derek's Wild Apology Story15:59 Why Isiah Is a Homebody20:30 Growing Up as a Comic's Son22:06 Boxing to Britney Spears27:10 Watching The Odyssey in 4DX36:00 Usher Fan on Stage Gets Awkward40:57 Could You Go to a Strip Club With Your Dad?45:11 Jim Jones Says He'd Rather Drink With Men49:50 John Lennon, Feminism & Music Debate58:00 OutroSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Drop us a line or two . . .The episode kicks off with Queenie sharing a genuinely sweet midweek adventure: she took two of her assignee's kids — a 17-year-old and a 13-year-old — to the Cheesecake Factory while their parents were opening a bank account. The older one was laser-focused on driving regulations and motorcycle licenses (Queenie admirably held her tongue on the motorcycle safety speech). The younger one? Entirely concerned with what time school starts and what's for breakfast. Kids, man. Dad, who's been in the country solo for five months waiting for his family to arrive, looked — her words — so happy and so relieved. It's a quietly moving little story buried in a Tuesday errand. Then it's time for the cannabis check-in. TT has consumed — a Flora Cal Farms gummy, working through her stash while counting down the days to her Massachusetts trip and a restock. Queenie jumps on that segue to mention there's a governor's race heating up, with one candidate planning to fund state needs through cannabis revenue — you know, the things the federal government has apparently decided are optional. Before anyone can get too excited, Queenie drops a bombshell: Massachusetts may have a ballot initiative this November to *repeal* recreational cannabis legalization. Not scale back, not adjust — repeal. The culprit being cited for upticks in youth cannabis use? Largely unregulated hemp-derived products sold at gas stations, not licensed dispensaries — which, it should be noted, run tighter ID checks than New York. Opponents want to return to a decriminalized-but-not-legal framework. The ladies are bewildered but not surprised. Meanwhile, California's state fair just made cannabis its biggest attraction ever, complete with consumption areas. Conflicting signals, as always. The research corner delivers something genuinely hopeful: a phase-two London trial involving 120 dementia patients found that nearly 90% receiving THC and CBD showed significantly reduced agitation over twelve weeks, compared to typical anti-agitation medications. For anyone who has watched a family member with advanced dementia deteriorate — or watched a caregiver reach their absolute limit — this lands. Queenie notes that agitation is often the tipping point when families say they can't do it anymore. No serious safety issues were reported. Caveats noted (not peer-reviewed, not a first-line therapy, professional supervision required), but the hope is real and both hosts feel it.The "Wait, What?" segment this week is actually a delight: French Sundays. The concept, apparently trending, is simply treating Sunday as the French traditionally do — a full day of rest, family, and absolutely nothing productive. No errands, no scheduled activities, just slow and still. Queenie and Queenie both immediately recognize it as childhood. Before stores were open seven days, before travel sports, before the internet had opinions about your productivity — Sunday was just *off*. The deeper point: you have to be able to do it guilt-free. Not white-knuckling your way through a nap while mentally listing everything you're ignoring. Just... being. Self-hibernation, as Queenie puts it. The episode later ends with TT performing an original French Sundays poem — wine at noon, bread, cheese, no apologies — and it's genuinely lovely.TT's Choice lands on number 23: hot flashes forever vs. night sweats forever. Neither is good. TT picks night sweats immediately — at least you're not performing a personal inferno for a live audience. Queenie agrees, recounting watching a woman her age just *become a furnace* mid-conversation. The solidarity is real. Queenie also admits she still gets the occasional night sweat — that sudden wash of heat moving through your body and then, yes, the cooling bamboo sheets she invested in are now cold and wet. They work. They do not work *enough.* The furnace wins. Another item for the list.Speaking of lists — the Fuck It List delivers this week, and it's a genuine victory lap. The mystery of the missing keys (lost eleven times, found in the bra, the freezer, the planter by the stairs, the coat pockets) has been solved. Queenie zip-tied the key ring directly to the purse. The purse never leaves her mother's side. The lanyard is long enough that she doesn't have to lift the entire purse to unlock a door. No tech, no app, no smart lock — just a six-inch zip tie and the accumulated frustration of a devoted, exhausted daughter who finally said *fuck it* and handled it. She felt triumphant. She deserved to.The episode closes with travel energy — TT and her partner are packing for the Cape, with TT's approach being "throw things on the bed and hope for the best" versus her partner's meticulous shirt count. A suitcase mostly of new underpants is involved. Brynn (daughter) has passed her unofficial puppy audition after successfully dog-sitting, and the puppy in question is growing fast and already doing a 30-second sit-stay before dinner. The pig update is, as always, essential: Bartholomew the 180-pound pet pig demands exactly three Cheerios after using the litter box, has claimed the couch permanently, and once hid himself entirely under a mountain of blankets — invisible, enormous, content. His unofficial co-owner would apparently not contest sole custody. The pig whisperer of the situation? Linda. Alan will not go near it.Next episode, TT will be seaside. Queenie will be counting the days. Everyone is encouraged to try a French Sunday.---## SHORT SUMMARYQueenie meets her assignee's kids over Cheesecake Factory excess, TT works through her cannabis stash while Massachusetts considers *repealing* recreational legalization, and a London dementia study offers real hope about THC and CBD for agitation. Also: night sweats vs. hot flashes, the triumphant zip-tie solution to a lost-key saga, a 180-pound pig who demands three Cheerios post-litter-box, and a pitch for guilt-free French Sundays — complete with an original poem.---## TOP 5 PULL QUOTES**Queenie:** "I understand people who are concerned about heroin and drug use — that ruins your life. But come on, this is pot we're talking about. Not only is it not harmful in most cases when it's used judiciously, it's helpful to people. It's helpful to so many people."**TT:** "I'd have to pick night sweats, even though I still get them sometimes, because at least you're not in public — you're not flaring up and having people stare at you going, 'Dear, are you okay?'"**Queenie:** "Bring the zip ties, bring ingenuity, bring a solution born of love — and zip tie the key to the purse, the purse she never puts down."**TT:** "You have to be able to do it guilt-free. Not sit there thinking, 'God, I should be doing this, I'm just lazy, what is wrong with me?' Because sometimes that's what you need to do."**TT (French Sundays poem):** "No guilt, no hustle, no excuses. Just bread and cheese and no apologies. The French pour the wine at noon and stay there, and nothing productive is missed."---## EPISODE VIBEThis one is warm and a little weary in the best possible way — the kind of episode that feels like a long phone call with someone who gets it. There's genuine tenderness in the stories (a relieved dad reunited with his family after five months, a daughter zip-tying keys to her mother's purse with quiet, determined love), real anger at the absurdity of the cannabis policy landscape, and actual hope in the dementia research. The humor is lived-in rather than performed — night sweat solidarity, a pig who has claimed the couch and everyone just accepts it, a suitcase of underpants as legitimate travel strategy. French Sundays gives it a closing exhale, a collective permission slip to just stop for a minute. It's an episode that earns its wry tone because underneath it, these two are clearly paying attention to the world and to each other. Undercover Narcotics Detective to Hollywood Actor – Jim Klock Unplugged Jim Klock spent a decade on the police beat, including undercover narcotics work in Virginia, before moving to LA at 30 to chase Hollywood. His first role? Playing an undercover cop on HBO's The Wire while he was still actually an undercover narcotics detective back home. This week on Reza Rifts, host Keith Reza and Jim get into everything: the time he chased a violent suspect past an elementary school, working opposite Woody Harrelson on True Detective, learning craft from acting coach Jack Plotnick, the Sam Elliott "I'm the best Sam Elliott in the world" moment, his upcoming roles on Boston Blue, The Florist, and the shark movie Chum, plus Reza opens up about why he calls his Aspergers a superpower. Guest Info Jim Klock is a Virginia-born American actor, writer, director, and former law-enforcement officer. What is the cleanest way to connect several microphones, preamps and audio interfaces without constantly crawling behind the rack? AP starts with what sounds like a simple question about expanding the line-level inputs on his Audient iD44. That sends the team down a glorious rabbit hole involving passive switchers, mic splitters, USB converters, matrix routers, the Heritage Audio Synth Buddy, ESI interfaces, Broadcast Tools, Source-Nexus and the Passport VO. Eventually, one decidedly old-school solution keeps winning the argument: the humble patchbay. The team discusses quarter-inch, Bantam and TT patchbays, normalled and half-normalled connections, passive mic splitting, phantom power, transformer isolation, corrosion, loose connectors and why adding another preamp stage may not be the sonic disaster people imagine. Along the way, George mourns the disappearance of simple line-level audio interfaces, Robert explains how passive splitters survive real concert recording jobs, and Robbo demonstrates his remarkable ability to make a straightforward signal path impressively complicated. In this episode: • Switching several microphones and preamps into one interface • Passive line-level switchers versus audio interfaces • Why a patchbay may be the simplest solution • Normalled, half-normalled and open patchbay configurations • Quarter-inch patchbays versus TT and Bantam systems • Passive microphone splitting and phantom power • Transformer isolation and troublesome ground loops • Keeping the signal path clean without overengineering it The Pro Audio Suite is hosted by George Whittam, Robert Marshall, Andrew Peters and Darren "Robbo" Robertson. In the latest episode of Talking Tigers, three triple Richmond premiership heroes receive high praise for their efforts in last Saturday night’s clash with Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium. Captain Toby Nankervis, Nick Vlastuin and Dion Prestia did everything in their collective power to lift the team right throughout the contest, and the TT team pay tribute to them accordingly. Also on this week’s show, there is a preview of the Round 21 match against West Coast at the MCG on Sunday. The “A-Z of Tigerland” segment looks at the most bizarre, but arguably the greatest, premiership in Richmond’s history. While in “60 Years of MCG Memories”, the focus is on the Tigers’ convincing victory over Collingwood in the 1969 preliminary final. For all things Yellow and Black, make sure you tune in to Talking Tigers.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this new episode, Crawlspace Media's Tim Pilleri and Lance Reenstierna speak with Laura Riste about the disappearance of Kevin Reimer from Elk Island National Park in Alberta, Canada on June 29th, 1979. Kevin's disappearance prompted an extensive search effort that included army troops, helicopters, and boats dragging the local lake in search of his body, though public details regarding the ultimate outcome of the case remain scarce. His remains were located ten years later. Follow Laura's FB page for Trenny: https://www.facebook.com/searching.for.trenny. Follow Laura on IG: https://www.instagram.com/laurariste. Drop us a line or two . . .We open mid-life, mid-rain, mid-chaos — and fully on brand. Queenie's kicking things off fresh off a family reunion that somehow pulled together around 60 people under a pavilion while the weather did its worst. The rain, she reports, was actually a blessing — it corralled everyone together and made for a genuinely lovely day. Her mom, the family matriarch, had someone at her side every minute. Seven hours on poured concrete. Sixty people. Special-edition 250th anniversary rubber ducks wearing Uncle Sam hats and Mardi Gras beads. Trivia questions. Revolutionary War research that Queenie will readily admit her procrastination kept from being as thorough as intended. The ducks, she assures everyone, will be collector's items. Future generations will hold them up and say, "Look at this relic from when the Republic still stood." The physical toll of the reunion caught up with Queenie overnight — leg cramps, dehydration, chanting through the pain — which leads, naturally, into a colonoscopy update. Because of course it does. The prep, she confirms, is indeed a blast. Moving on. TT, meanwhile, is already feeling the effects of the big-ass bag of gummies — yes, that big-ass bag, the one they apparently weren't sure would still have any potency. It does. Potency plus. Queenie's working her way through a Hepworth Citrus Slurp — a teeny-weeny 0.35g pre-rolled dog walker, sun grown, naturally terpene rich, and delivering a clean sativa energy. The fly in the room, apparently, got the memo and departed when the fly swatter appeared, which sends them into a genuinely delightful detour about whether ants retrieve their dead, mourn their dead, or potentially require DNA evidence before accepting that a fallen comrade is really gone. Alexa is consulted. Designated undertaker workers, she reports, sense a death pheromone and remove corpses from the colony. They're just being tidy. The ants. Just being tidy. From ant funerals, Queenie pivots to a rant about the total myth of the paperless digital revolution, which she has been living in real time while navigating bureaucratic systems with assignees. Motor vehicles. Government agencies. Bank accounts. Not one transaction in twenty goes smoothly. You always need a paper backup for the digital. You always need to wait. You get called, miss your number, get called again out of sequence, haven't had a chance to fill out a single form yet because you were pulled to get your photo taken first. The receipt multiplies. The paperwork multiplies. The fax machines are still running somewhere in a government building. It is, Queenie concludes, organized crime. You do not exist until they tell you you exist, and they decide the terms. A little raw around the edges, she admits. A concentrated few weeks. Then it's time for Wait, What — and this week's entry is genuinely warm. Queenie shares the story of a British author who, on the occasion of turning 60, invited sixty people — strangers, acquaintances, old friends, her own children — to sit down and share a cup of tea with her. Part curiosity project, part antidote to the creeping shyness that snuck up on her in her later years. She kept a blog. She opened each conversation with a few consistent questions. She found that intentional listening — actually just listening, not advising — meant her kids opened up to her in ways they hadn't before. Intimate moments. Real connection. New friendships. New ideas. Queenie loves it. TT loves it. They wonder if they could do it. TT suspects she'd enjoy it enormously but is fuzzy on the mechanics of execution. They agree the format is flexible — tea, cookies, a brownie, a gummy, whatever. The key, Queenie says, is making it intentional. The conversation wanders into the current political moment, which is everywhere and unavoidable, and Queenie reflects that at the family reunion, even with all the patriotic ducks and anniversary fanfare, the prevailing mood around current events was more forlorn than defensive. Nobody was flying any flags for the other team. She notes they grew up watching their parents' generation of siblings never conflict — and they're just modeling that behavior. You hold onto the shared history. Cousin Sharon gets a moment: the only family member to have served in an active war zone. The men were never that closely involved in any conflict. That lands quietly. TT's Choice serves up number 49: would you rather have a podcast guest who is absolutely fascinating but hates you, or who loves you but has nothing interesting to say? Both hosts go immediately for fascinating-and-hostile. The reasoning: it's better for the audience. And honestly, better for them. TT admits she can make small talk for about a minute before the panic sets in. A minute, she clarifies, is a genuinely long time when you're flapping in the wind. They'd try charm and wit to win the hostile guest over. They'd feign a dropped connection if things got dire. They'd exit gracefully. They debate whether actively seeking someone who hates you is ethically sound podcasting practice or just fishing for drama. TT starts to say something, stops herself, and refuses to share it on air. This has apparently never happened before. Queenie is mildly unsettled. The Fuck It List this week: Queenie is retiring her compulsive apologies on the pickleball court. Her class was cancelled due to Canadian wildfire smoke — the air quality has been in the red-to-dangerous range, and there are days the sky goes visibly yellow. She and TT go deep on the state of the planet: El Niño, prescribed burns, the pine bush outside Albany that has to burn to bloom, the Karner blue butterfly, fires mapped across the entire globe on Weather Underground looking like the world is literally ablaze. Japan. China. Sandstorms from the desert traveling across continents. Canada. Pittsburgh. It's a lot. Back to the fuck it: TT has been apologizing reflexively on the pickleball court every time she misses a shot — and so has her partner. They both caught themselves doing it and looked at each other. They agreed: stop. Nobody's playing for money. Nobody's walking off a cliff. TT reflects that she's not used to team sports, doesn't love the pressure, feels responsible for the group, and carries the anxiety of visible positions — goalies, pitchers, catchers, all the people in the hot spots. Queenie points out that women apologize constantly for things outside their control. Bumping into someone. Missing a shot. Existing. The episode closes on that note — and on a song: a full musical number about the reflexive female apology. Apologizing to chairs. To waiters who brought the wrong plate. To the doctor for making you wait. To the stranger who stepped on your shoe. Every woman in the room nodded. They've been sorry since the age of eight. Queenie and TT sign off warmly. Then, in true CDQ fashion, the mics keep rolling while they attempt to figure out live streaming, test whether Queenie's black t-shirt creates a floating-head effect on camera (it kind of does), reference The Wizard of Oz, and confirm that they are, in fact, quite possibly one of a kind. In this new episode, Crawlspace Media's Tim Pilleri and Lance Reenstierna discuss the mysterious disappearance of Corinne Elaine Perry and the discovery of her remains with Laura Riste. Corinne Elaine Perry went missing on April 17, 1983, after leaving her home in Creston, Iowa, to do laundry. Her car was found abandoned at the local laundromat the next day with her neatly folded clothes inside; over a year later, on November 3, 1984, her remains were discovered in a shallow grave near a creek south of Creston, and her murder remains unsolved to this day. Stage 16 of the 2026 Tour de France brought the race's only individual time trial: 26.1km from Évian-les-Bains to Thonon-les-Bains, featuring a punchy parcours with 500 metres of climbing that suited the all-rounders far more than the pure specialists. Remco Evenepoel reminded everyone why he is one of the greatest time triallists of his generation, storming to victory on Belgium's National Day to claim his 26th career TT win. Tadej Pogačar limited his losses superbly to finish second, while Mattias Skjelmose produced an excellent ride for third. Paul Seixas continued his remarkable Tour with fourth, narrowly ahead of Isaac Del Toro as the battle for the white jersey edged even closer. The overall classification remains largely unchanged. Pogačar still holds a commanding lead, while Evenepoel strengthened his grip on second place, with Jonas Vingegaard now out of the race after the crash on Stage 15. Behind them, however, the fight for the final podium position between Del Toro and Seixas is becoming one of the defining battles of this Tour. The biggest moment of the day came when Florian Lipowitz crashed heavily midway through his ride, forcing him to abandon the race. His exit reshapes the top 10, promotes a host of riders up the standings, and opens the door for Yannis Voisard to move into the overall top 10. We also discuss why this wasn't a course designed for pure time trial specialists. Filippo Ganna and Josh Tarling delivered the performances many expected, but on a climbing-heavy route, they were never likely to challenge for victory against riders like Evenepoel and Pogačar. And we caught up with Pete Kennaugh at the XDS-Astana team hotel on the rest day to hear his thoughts on how the race has unfolded so far, and we tackle the burning question: Was Jonas Vingegaard's crash a result of the doping test that woke him up in the middle of the night? Ned Boulting and David Millar break down Stage 16 of the Tour de France 2026.

In this new episode, Crawlspace Media's Tim Pilleri and Lance Reenstierna discuss the mysterious death of Austria's Christian Pilnacek in October of 2023 with Dr.'s Sarah Schiffecker and David Perlmutter from Texas Tech University. Christian Pilnacek was a prominent Austrian lawyer and former judge who rose to become one of the most powerful officials in the country's Ministry of Justice before being suspended amid controversy. While his October 2023 death in a Danube tributary was quickly ruled a suicide, the circumstances remain surrounded by mystery due to allegations of a sloppy investigation and suspected political interference. Life in the Peloton is proudly brought to you by MAAP What a week of racing at the Tour de France! It's safe to say that with Jonas Vingegaard's unfortunate abandonment, the race for the podium has been blown wide open! I gave EF Education EasyPost DS, Tom Southam, a call to go over everything we've seen in the second week of the Tour and preview what's coming up. Kicking off with a recap of everything that's gone down both in and around the race last week, and it started with a dominant victory from Pogačar in Le Lioran. Some amazing instincts from Søren Wærenskjold saw him win the bunch sprint on stage 11 to continue Uno-X Mobility's success, before Tim Merlier reminded everyone that he's the fastest sprinter in the race with his third stage win of the Tour the next day. Stage 13 saw Mauro Schmid power his way into the mega break and grab a stage win for Jayco, so who better to chat to than his team mate, and regular “guest” on the Pod, Durbo. It was great to hear from Luke as he enjoys a well-earned rest day, and he gave us a great scoop on the team's tactics and how their game plan played out pretty much perfectly. The two mountain stages on the weekend weren't the only drama - a 2 am dope test for Jonas and Pogi had the media buzzing, so I had to ask Southam what he knows and what he's heard from the ground. Is it a bit of a flex from WADA, or is there something going on?! With Jonas' abandonment, and a mountain TT coming up, can Remco Evenepoel bag another stage win and close the gap to Pogi? Will Del Toro finish on the final podium? What about the green jersey battle between Pedersen and Philipsen? There's still so much to come, and I can't bloody wait to see how it plays out. Guys, it's a rest day, so pull another shot of espresso, sit back, and join me and Southam - dialling in live from EF's rest day Chateau - for some Tour de France chat. Cheers, Mitch The Race Communiqué is brought to you by TrainingPeaks! Track, plan, and train smarter - just like the pros. Get 20% off TrainingPeaks Premium now at trainingpeaks.com/litp
Lindsay just had her first therapy session, and it did not go the direction you'd expect. She's feeling a "solid friendship vibe" with her husb and her therapist says to shut down feelings and stick to facts. He called her in a time of need, Lindsay showed up with Chipotle, quietly packed her Nespresso machine into her purse, ate half his burrito while he was in the bathroom, and left. Meanwhile Cyber went quiet for three days and Chelsea and Lindsay confirmed the weird energy was real and they talked it out. Rest day, and it's a big one — 43 voice notes to get through and only twenty minutes of the show that were meant for them.Max and Alex start on the 2am testing saga engulfing the GC battle — Vingegaard and Pogačar's out-of-hours tests, the ITA's "severe suspicions" line, and a very direct take from a rider with history on the subject that's got Max rethinking the whole thing. From there it's full voice note mode: Remco's TT gap, the AFL/cycling crossover conversation (yes, we're drafting Buddy Franklin onto a WorldTour team), an A2 Milk pitch for the show, and Max's top ten Melbourne sandwiches — Barry's Garage gets the nod.Big one: we're doing a Tour de France Femmes show starting August 1, and we need a co-host who actually knows the peloton. Got a suggestion? Get into our DMs.Plus — Max explains why he'd never marry Peter Sagan, does some very rough maths on how fast he could hold 30 minutes at threshold, and there's a Triple M cameo before sign-off.

Drop us a line or two . . .LONG SUMMARYQueenie kicks things off fresh from a weekend packed with family events — her niece's bridal shower, a pool party at her sister-in-law's place, and what would have been her late mother-in-law Kay's third anniversary. The shower was a hit partly because the bride lives in Texas and had the good sense to put "just ship it" on the invitation, meaning zero gift-unwrapping theater, zero bow hats, zero frantic "she's in the bathroom, don't open it yet" energy. The scratch-off card game was a crowd-pleaser — you send in a photo of the groom, they print him into a celebrity card deck, guests scratch to find him, winner gets a gift bag. Clean, fun, no one had to pretend to cry over a KitchenAid.On the way to the pool party, Queenie stopped at a neighborhood lemonade stand (Disney World fund, very ambitious), handed over a ten, got some chitchat — and then, as she's leaving in her bathing suit, a little girl looks up and says, *I like your dress.* Queenie nearly corrected her and then wisely decided: no need. Just drive away in your very mini dress. The conversation pivots to long marriages when TT brings up a moment at pickleball — a sweet young woman, married two years, asked TT and her husband what their secret was after learning they'd been together 43 years (Queenie initially insisted it was 45 or 46; the math got worked out eventually). The husband's answer: "You have to learn when not to say things." Queenie's suggested alternatives: laziness, procrastination, inertia, conflict aversion, exhaustion, and not wanting to go broke. TT reveals the piece of advice she *wanted* to write on a bridal shower card once but didn't have the nerve to sign her name to. It is, shall we say, anatomically specific and probably the most useful thing anyone has ever almost written on one of those cards. This leads to a small detour about the lost art of handwriting — Queenie had to get a second advice card at the shower because her first attempt looked like it was written by, in her words, "a deranged old woman." Neither of them writes anymore. Cursive, once a graded subject, now just runs off the page on its own while the brain races ahead. The segment **Wait, What? No Way, José** lands on smell training and brain aging, sourced from a Harvard neurobiologist (legitimacy confirmed: it's not just hoo-ha). Turns out your nose is directly wired into cognitive, emotional, and memory centers of the brain, smell loss is linked to 139 health conditions, and simply sniffing five strong scents for 20 seconds twice a day — lavender, lemon, coffee, clove, eucalyptus — with active focus can improve verbal fluency and even increase hippocampus volume. The ladies immediately start workshopping their personal scent lineups. TT goes for baking bread, tomato plants, and basil. Queenie wants salt air (requires seaweed, complicated to bottle), eucalyptus, lavender, the smell of a baby's head, and the smell of spring — which she acknowledges is more of a smell memory than a smell. TT connects the dots: smells are evocative, strengthening the connection probably strengthens memory, and also TT has chronic sinus issues so this whole exercise might be harder for her. Queenie floats eucalyptus as a possible unclogger. Nobody huffs gasoline, despite TT's complicated feelings about it.Hot on the heels of nose science comes a cannabis news drop: a large new study published in BMJ Mental Health found no link between cannabis use and cognitive decline or dementia risk in older adults. Unlike the patchwork of conflicting prior studies, this one has statistical weight — large observational sample plus genetic causation testing. The researchers themselves say it's reassuring, not a green light for heavy use. Queenie's editorial: "Put that in your pipe and smoke it, everybody." TT suspects the dementia scare was always a "dog whistle" designed to keep older adults — now the biggest cannabis-purchasing demographic — away from the dispensary.**TT's Choice** pulls number 50: *What if you woke up fluent in one new language? Which one, and what's the first thing you say?* TT chooses American Sign Language. Queenie blinks. Slowly. Several times. She comes around — ASL is cool, meaningful, a genuine bridge — but not before pointing out that you can't exactly holler across a room in it and that the deaf community is, statistically speaking, a smaller conversation pool than Mandarin speakers. TT's first thing she'd sign: *Hey, I can communicate with you.* Queenie's pick is Hindi or Mandarin, motivated by sheer population density and years of working with people from India and China. Her first phrase would be "How may I best support you?" They both know exactly one useful sign — the universal one — and demonstrate it enthusiastically. World peace is declared, then immediately rescinded.**The Fuck It List** this week belongs to Queenie, who has been drowning in communication chaos. Working with relocation assignees, she's been available in every possible channel simultaneously — WhatsApp, texting, email, calls — with no structure, no response windows, 14 draft messages floating in the ether. She's saying fuck it to the myth of 24/7 availability and replacing it with something she finds less loaded than "setting boundaries": setting expectations. Spelling out clearly what method to use when, what response time is realistic, what constitutes an emergency. TT's contribution: "Clarity is kindness." They both acknowledge the particular guilt that comes with this for women of their generation — trained to give, to accommodate, to say yes and mean it and then quietly resent it. Queenie also notes the extra complication: some of her assignees are new to a city with no social network, making her feel like the only lifeline. Still. Expectations. In writing. Part of the intake process. Done. The back half is pure domestic dispatch: TT is doing smoothies for lunch, lost some weight, allowed herself ice cream on the Wisconsin River (a ferry went past; they did not take it), and permits herself two pieces of hard candy a day. Queenie is preparing for a colonoscopy on Wednesday — which she is reframing as "Cleansday" and, after the year she had, genuinely does not fear. She was apparently scolded last time for insufficient prep results, a situation she finds baffling since she followed instructions and couldn't exactly verify from her end. More Miralax this time. She's fine with it. Meanwhile, Queenie's daughter Megan had her first mammogram and got called back — technical imaging issue, folding, unclear view, very common for a first scan, not worrying anyone. Queenie's granddaughter just started high school. Time, as always, is marching on without asking permission. They close, as they do, pleasantly confused and absolutely fine with it.SHORT SUMMARYQueenie survived a bridal shower, a pool party, and being complimented on her "dress" (it was a bathing suit) — all in one weekend. CDQ covers smell training as a legit brain health tool, a reassuring new cannabis-and-cognitive-decline study, a TT's Choice debate about sign language vs. Mandarin, and Queenie's Fucked List entry on finally setting expectations — not boundaries, *expectations* — around her availability. Aging brains, long marriages, colonoscopy prep, and ASL for "fuck you": a perfectly normal episode. TOP 5 PULL QUOTES**TT:** "There's no problem that a blowjob can't fix. I didn't have the guts to write it — I didn't know these people."**Queenie:** "I have long-term care insurance, and I'm not afraid to exhaust all my benefits. And when they're gone, guess what? So am I."**TT:** "To what do you attribute your successful marriage? And I said, I don't know. And honey said, You have to learn when not to say things."**Queenie:** "I'm saying fuck it to the pretense that I'm available twenty-four seven. My assignees will be better served if I just spell it out — setting expectations, not boundaries. Clarity is kindness."**Queenie:** "I'm looking forward to my colonoscopy prep because I'll drop a few pounds. I'm viewing it as a cleanse. A reset. I can start fresh. That's what I should've been calling it all along — Cleansday."# EPISODE VIBEIt's the kind of episode that feels like eavesdropping on two people who've known each other long enou Welcome to the Closet Disco Queen Pot-Cast, a #1 ranked Women in Cannabis (Feedspot, Million Pods; 2025) comedy podcast with music and pop culture references that keeps you laughing and engaged. Kierra Coles, a 26-year-old postal worker who was three months pregnant, vanished from Chicago's South Side on October 2, 2018, after last being seen on surveillance footage in her work uniform. A $68,000 reward is currently being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in her case. Geoffrey Blake on Young Guns, Cast Away & the Brutal Truth About Acting In this funny, loose, and unexpectedly insightful episode of Reza Rifts, Keith Reza welcomes actor Geoffrey Blake back for a third conversation. The two talk about the SAG strike, life on the road, quitting Twitter, social-media weirdness, and the unpredictable reality of surviving in show business. Geoffrey is candid, sharp, and full of stories that feel like old-school Hollywood war tales told by someone who actually lived them. The episode really shines when Geoffrey starts unpacking his career: chaotic Critters 3 practical effects, spotting Leonardo DiCaprio's star power early, having most of his Cast Away material cut, and sharing memories from Young Guns, Forrest Gump, Brink!, and more. The biggest takeaway is simple and brutally honest: if he could talk to his younger self, he'd say, "save your money." Guest Info Geoffrey Blake is an American film and television actor born in Baltimore in 1962. He's best known to many fans as Wesley in Forrest Gump, and his film career also includes Young Guns, Contact, Cast Away, Apollo 13, Critters 3, FernGully: The Last Rainforest, and Midway. On television, he's appeared in projects including Renegade, Homefront, Any Day Now, House, Criminal Minds, The Man in the High Castle, Bridge and Tunnel, and Hotel Cocaine. On this episode, Geoffrey comes across as exactly the kind of guest podcast audiences love: generous, self-aware, connected, and full of behind-the-scenes stories about actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, Jack Palance, Terrence Stamp, Ed Burns, and Dermot Mulroney. In this new episode, Crawlspace Media's Tim Pilleri and Lance Reenstierna discuss the mysterious disappearances and deaths of the Jamison Family from Red Oak, Oklahoma on October 8th, 2009. In October 2009, Bobby and Sherilynn Jamison and their six-year-old daughter, Madyson, vanished into the rugged Sans Bois Mountains of Oklahoma, leaving behind an abandoned pickup truck packed with their identification, a starving dog, and $32,000 in cash. Four years later, their skeletal remains were discovered side-by-side in the wilderness, but with their official cause of death still ruled undetermined, the case remains one of the most baffling and heavily scrutinized unsolved mysteries in modern history.
