Weight loss in menopause can feel frustrating when the things that worked before suddenly stop working. But what if the answer isn't simply changing what you eat? I joined Linda Bjork on Linda's Corner to talk about what I believe is at the heart of menopause weight loss. Learning why you eat when you're not hungry. We talked about physical hunger, emotional hunger, and my simple negative 10 to plus 10 hunger and fullness scale. I also shared my own experience with menopause, Weight Watchers, emotional eating, and realizing that having the right information wasn't enough. We also talked about listening to your body when it whispers instead of waiting until it screams, learning to manage your mind, trusting yourself, and practicing self-compassion. Enjoy the show! The only way it will pop up to others is when people review it, so if you're loving it – pass on the good word!  What You'll Learn From This Episode Why menopause can be a powerful time to rethink your relationship with food. Why knowing your physical hunger and fullness can change the way you eat. How emotional hunger can feel like physical hunger. The goal is to understand why you eat, not simply what you eat. How learning to listen to your body when it is "whispering" can change how you care for yourself.

My client Sherry spent 9 years cycling through every diet...cutting sugar, Weight Watchers, Whole30, plant-based. She was stuck in binge-restrict, always searching for the thing that would finally work. She'd done all the "right" things and still couldn't get the last 20 pounds to move. The problem was never the diet.In this episode, she shares how the food noise went almost silent within her first week, why she's now losing weight in menopause while eating more than she ever thought she could, and the one piece of inner work she says made the biggest difference. If you've ever thought "I know what to do, I just can't seem to do it" — this one's for you. What we cover:• The 9-year binge-restrict cycle and why "healthy habits" weren't enough• Why tracking your food can heal your relationship with it (when the utility is right)• Her real calorie numbers — the upper limit that shocked her, and where she's losing weight now• Menopause and why smaller deficits work better, not bigger ones• The doubt she had before joining — and what convinced her anyway• The inner work that made the biggest difference (and why it beat every "just tell your brain no" approach)• Doing all this while working full-time and caregiving for her dad• What her 26-year-old daughter said that made the whole thing worth it‣ Apply to Join Dieting From The Inside Out Here: https://inquire.hamiltontrained.com?utm_source=podcast‣ Grab the Food Noise Solution Guide Here: https://inquire.hamiltontrained.com/food-noise?utm_source=podcast

Meghan shares her experience with reverse dieting, macro tracking, GLP-1 microdosing, and functional testing, along with the everyday habits and mindset shifts, including letting go of all-or-nothing thinking, that helped her get stronger, feel better, and finally feel more at home in her body. Nutrition Nugget! Bite-sized bonus episodes offer tips, tricks and approachable science. This week, Jenn is talking about Cool Whip. It's in the freezer of half of America and shows up in "healthier" dessert recipes all over the internet. Except does Cool Whip deserve a spot in your freezer? Jenn's digging into the ingredient list most people never bother to read, breaking down what happens when a company swaps out one ingredient and quietly adds a handful of others to keep the taste and texture the same, and exposing a labeling loophole that lets products claim zero grams of trans fat when that's not quite the full story. Is Cool Whip the dairy-free, guilt-free treat it's marketed to be, or is there more going on behind that fluffy white dollop? Jenn compares it side by side with the old-fashioned alternative and shares exactly where she lands. You'll have to listen to find out if Cool Whip makes her list. Like what you're hearing? In today's episode we talk to Sarah Jenks, an ordained Priestess whose work is centered around integrating Sacred Feminine wisdom and ceremony into our everyday lives.  We loved Sarah's perspective on the Sacred Feminine, the importance of it now in these changing times, and how normal and healing it feels to reconnect to it. We talk about: Her amazing first 10 years playing in the woods and making potions in nature outside of Boston. How life shifted at the age of 10 when Sarah began to attend Weight Watchers and found herself in a restriction-binge eating cycle for 13 years. The Dove chocolate moment when Sarah realized she was not well around her relationship to food, and her decision to accept she would be overweight but would have fun anyway – and how this began to break the cycle and led to an emotional eating company she founded and ran until 2017. When Sarah first discovered feminine ceremony, and how this completely shifted her path toward studying and becoming a Priestess. How the sacred feminine has been deliberately erased in our history and the impact this has had on women. Her husband's response to her announcement that she was “magical” and that she wanted a non-traditional path and non-patriarchal relationship. The temple she co-founded with her best friend and the ceremonies she leads every 6 weeks for women in person and online where she helps people “meet their soul”.   About Sarah Jenks: Sarah is a teacher, coach, speaker, and guide in the Sacred Feminine space whose work centers on helping women remember their brilliance, reclaim their bodies, heal internalized patriarchy, and reconnect with a more intuitive, cyclical, and authentic way of living. Her work bridges spirituality, embodiment, relationships, leadership, and personal transformation. Sarah’s own journey included struggles with body image, emotional eating, disconnection from purpose, and feeling flat and exhausted despite external success. Through studying the Sacred Feminine and women’s wisdom traditions, she developed programs and teachings focused on helping women return to themselves rather than becoming someone new. Jacqui Lewis fasting highway bio update. Came to intermittent fasting the usual circuitous route of Weight Watchers, counting calories, overexercising, and undereating. Discovered fasting through Gin Stevens ' fast-feast-repeat. That was in November 2021, and I never looked back. Since then, I have not missed one day of fasting with the exception of the day I had open-heart surgery. I have fasted through many vacations, many trips, a new job, a death in the family, and the memorial of my mom. Fasting is flexible for me and the greatest thing I've ever found. I went from 145 11/21 to 125 by spring of 22, also losing17 inches of fluff. I stay there at 125…now and then going up to the top of my range, 128. If I get up to the top of my range, I rein it in & pull back on candy, desserts, cookies and non-alcoholic beer. If I get too low, which I have dipped down to 121, I try to drink protein shakes in addition to my one meal a day. In the beginning, I clean fasted, and to this day I always clean fast. It took me two years to tolerate black coffee; now I love it. I still drink creamy coffee in my windows. My windows never get below 14 hours. That's my absolute shortest, and I go anywhere from 18 to 22 hours on a normal day. I generally break my fast with creamy coffee and a handful of nuts. Sometimes I have a snack and then a meal; often, now that I started a new job, I have creamy coffee, nuts, and a meal and later a snack before I close my window  Come and join our Patreon Community or book a one-on-one call with Graeme Graeme is available to work one-on-one with you, and you can book in with him at the website www.thefastinghighway.com To join Graeme's Patreon and get help every week in a group setting and through regular audio pieces exclusive to Patreon members, head to www.patreon.com/thefastinghighwayHis book is widely available on Amazon and all good online book retailers in Kindle, Paperback, and audiobook formats. If you've ever lost weight, gained it back, and convinced yourself it must be a willpower problem, this episode is for you. Kamy's whole message is the opposite. Excess weight in a teen is almost never about willpower, the food itself, or how much you move. It's a symptom of something deeper that nobody has helped you name yet. Today's guest is Kamy Moussavi, founder of Step Together, an organization that helps families address the true roots of children's excess weight (which Kamy sees as emotional stress, undiagnosed ADHD patterns, family dynamics, and life overwhelm, not just food). Kami grew up overweight and spent more than two decades cycling through Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, restrictive diets, fasting, binge eating, and bulimia before he finally realized none of it was working because none of it was addressing what was actually happening underneath.   In this episode you'll hear why weight is a symptom and not the root problem, why diet and exercise alone don't break the cycle, the simple pattern recognition tool you can start using tonight, why your developing brain literally cannot do this work on its own (and what to do about that), how to have the kind of conversation with your parents that actually helps, the dopamine rerouting tools that can stand in for food when emotions hit, and why parents have to lead with role modeling instead of lecturing if anything is going to change.   Why excess weight in teens is almost never about willpower or food itself The yo yo cycle and what actually drives it underneath Why parents focusing on the food alone keeps the loop going The pattern recognition tool (catalog what happened before the ice cream, not just the ice cream) Why your frontal lobe is still developing into your mid 20s and what that means for impulse control How to ask a parent for support without making it worse Why "hold the space, don't jump to solutions" is the most powerful thing a parent or friend can do The dopamine rerouting list (touch, play, creativity, movement, social connection) Why connecting how food makes you FEEL is more powerful than counting calories Why a strong "why" matters more than any meal plan How a parent role modeling new habits rewires what their teen absorbs at home   Parents: This is one of the most important episodes for any parent of a teen who is struggling with their weight, with restrictive eating, with binge eating, or with the sense that food has quietly become bigger than it should be. Kamy's central message is one that almost every weight focused program misses: the focus should not be on your child at all, it should be on what the home environment and the emotional ecosystem are teaching them. He shares specific ways to role model the behavior you want to see, hold space when your teen is struggling, and become the parent your teen comes to instead of the parent your teen hides from. Listen with your teen if you can.   Heads up before you dive in: This episode talks openly about excess weight, binge eating, bulimia, restrictive dieting, weight shame, and the emotional roots underneath all of it. If any of this feels heavy for you right now, please take care of yourself and come back when you're ready, or listen with a parent or trusted adult nearby. If you've been struggling with these patterns for months or longer, please reach out to a professional for support.   Step Together website:  steptogether.com   Connect with Leslie: Ready to talk through what your teen is navigating and what kind of support would actually help? When you look across the vast, ever-expanding GLP-1 landscape, you see a handful of key players with different services offered. One of them is Noom, which attempts to differentiate itself from other telehealth shops by billing itself as a “behavior-change company.”  Simply put, Noom takes a lifestyle-based approach to weight loss, delving into the habits of its users and reorienting them towards healthier routines for diet and exercise. Building off that foundation, Noom then got into the GLP-1 prescription business in 2023. Armed with a subscription-based health app and a substantial ad spend for campaigns featuring celebrity spokesperson Rebel Wilson, Noom has raised nearly $660 million over 10 funding rounds since its founding in 2008. Yet like Weight Watchers, the company's pivot in the age of GLP-1s hasn't been without bumps along the way. Noom conducted mass layoffs in 2022 and 2025 amid a slowdown in its key business units. Still, the company is trudging forward.  This week, Noom CEO Geoff Cook returns to the show to chat with reporter Bella Czajkowski about the company's plans for the future, how the GLP-1 treatment space needs to evolve and what their go-forward advertising strategy is.  For our Trends segment, we're talking about a pair of recent Supreme Court rulings – the ‘skinny label' case between Hikma and Amarin as well as Bayer's Roundup decision – and what they mean for the healthcare industry. I spent a substantial amount of my childhood sitting next to my mom on the folding chairs of Weight Watchers meetings and Nutrisystem appointments. Each week they weighed her and sent her home with numbers to track and portions to control. She struggled with her weight her whole life, and the constant counting only ever made things difficult for her.If you've ever sat at dinner doing the math in your head while everyone else just enjoyed the meal, this week's episode is for you.The ridiculous way to lose weight is calorie counting. The best way is finding the escape. Jarrod and I lost 75 pounds between us, have happily kept it off, and never counted one. On this episode we get into how it worked and the way God had it figured out long before the app creators did.

In October of 2021, the body of five-year-old Elijah Lewis was found buried in a Massachusetts park. And when Crystal Sorey heard what had happened to that little boy, something inside her panicked-  because she had been trying, for months, to get people to listen to her about her own missing child. Her daughter, Harmony Montgomery. Harmony was supposed to be in first grade. She was supposed to be wearing her glasses. She was supposed to be getting medical care for the condition that left her blind in one eye. She was supposed to be protected. Instead, by the time anyone officially started looking for her, Harmony had not been seen in two years. Harmony did not disappear from a life where everything seemed fine. She disappeared after years of warning signs, reports, custody battles, missed appointments, police calls, allegations of abuse, unstable homes, substance abuse, homelessness, and adults pointing fingers at every other adult in the room. Her mother failed her. Her father failed her. Her stepmother failed her. The courts failed her. Child protective services failed her. The systems built specifically to catch a little girl before she fell through the cracks watched those cracks open wider and wider. This was a child who had already spent so much of her tiny life being moved from place to place, plan to plan, home to home. A child with medical needs. A child with a little brother who loved her, missed her, and kept looking for her at playgrounds because he believed, the way children do, that if he looked hard enough, maybe she would just be there. But Harmony wasn't there. And for years, the people responsible for knowing where she was, and making sure she was safe and cared for, simply didn't. Cindy Gustafson has checked off a laundry list of accomplishments during her first 18 months as CEO of Nutrafol.  This includes an app launch designed to improve retention and a product release tailored to reach one of its smallest customer demographics in men over 50. These rollouts happened while she led the team toward double-digit growth during 2025, her first full year as CEO, on a path to soon reach $1 billion in annual sales.  “You need a real commitment to delivering on something someone actually needs [in order to win this category],” Gustafson told host Lexy Lebsack. “We actually have quite a small portfolio of products, [unlike our competitor] brands that have hundreds and hundreds of SKUs. We are not that kind of a brand. We are not that kind of a business.” Instead, Gustafson has stayed hyper-focused on delivering on its main promise of improved hair growth. “We have been so fixated on really delivering against what a customer needs and what a customer is looking for, and staying very, very grounded in that,” she said.  Gustafson is a veteran exec whose CV includes Weight Watchers, Bark, Mindshare and Unilever. She spent 18 months as chief marketing officer of Nutrafol before taking over the CEO role from Nutrafol's co-founder Giorgos Tsetis after its Unilever acquisition. In today's episode of the Glossy Beauty Podcast, Gustafson unpacks her secret sauce for growth, how the supplement consumer has evolved and much more.

As many of you know, I went on my first diet when I was 13 years old. It was Weight Watchers and it shifted how I viewed my body for a decade. I saw it as something weak and that I could control. It would take years of nutritional, mind, and body studies to realize my body was never the enemy I was taught to see it as. I sometimes wonder how things might have been different if I had learned as a kid and teenager how to interact with my body and food from a place of trust. I eventually would see a nutritionist when I was twenty years old and it was she who told me sometimes you will overeat and sometimes you may undereat but when you zoom out over a month you'll see that your body got the nutrition it needed. Learning this bodily trust at a younger age might have offered a framework for how to safely land inside of my body rather than constantly leaving it. In this week's Satiated Podcast episode, I chat with The Holistic Kids, four brothers on a mission to educate and empower kids from the inside out, about: Their journey to learning more about holistic healthDiscovering the impact of food on their health and wellbeingTheir revolutionize acronymThe importance of mindfulnessHow they have navigated technology and social media when everyone around them is using it more and moreThe role of nature, stress management, and play in healthYou can also read the transcript to this week's episode here: https://www.stephaniemara.com/blog/4-teens-on-a-mission-to-revolutionize-teen-healthI found it fascinating to hear from four teens about what they're noticing about what it is like to be a teenager these days. It was finally understanding why her body worked the way it did — and building a strategy she didn't need to white-knuckle on the weekends. In this episode, you'll hear:Why Stephanie's biggest weight loss blocker wasn't food — it was her own head, and exactly how that shiftedThe protein + fiber combo that finally made her feel full without slashing her calories to nothingHow she went from "I'll never be able to track" to using it as a strategic planning tool (not a prison)What it looks like to lose half a pound a week, not stress about it, and still buy a two-piece for your cruise (5 weeks ahead of schedule)Why behavior change is hard even when the plan is easy — and why that means you're not brokenHow she now handles restaurants, wine, Bible study ice cream socials, and brunch with French toast without blowing up her progressIf you're ready to stop starting over and finally keep the weight off like Stephanie...Apply for Keep It Off Academy and learn how to build a strategy that works for your real life.www.keepitoffcoaching.com/keepitoff* The information presented on this podcast is not medical advice and does not constitute health coaching. In this episode of The Love Yourself Thin Podcast, Dara continues her powerful series on the hidden history of diet culture and weight loss. Last week, we explored the blueprint of shame. This week, we uncover the control trap. Why have so many women stopped trusting themselves around food? Why do we believe an app, a diet book, or a set of food rules knows our body better than we do? Dara walks through the history of weight loss culture—from the first diet book in 1863 to calorie counting, slimming clubs, diet pills, Weight Watchers, processed food marketing, and today's GLP-1 era—to reveal how the diet industry slowly trained women to distrust their own hunger, body, and intuition. If you've spent decades starting over every Monday, following someone else's rules, and feeling like you "fail" when you can't keep up, this episode will help you understand why. This conversation is especially for women over 50 who are tired of dieting, tired of obsessing over food, and ready to create permanent weight loss by healing the deeper patterns underneath emotional eating, perfectionism, procrastination, and people-pleasing. In this episode, Dara discusses: ✨ The first diet book and how weight loss became rule-based ✨ Why diet culture teaches women to distrust themselves ✨ The connection between control, shame, and food ✨ How calorie counting changed women's relationship with eating ✨ The rise of slimming clubs, diet pills, and public weigh-ins ✨ Why food rules often become emotional "buffers" ✨ The difference between external control and self-governance ✨ How emotional eating is often about safety, not food ✨ Why lasting weight loss starts with trust, not restriction Dara also shares personal insights about growing up as a people-pleaser, how food became emotional protection, and why learning to feel emotions instead of controlling them changed everything. If you're ready to stop fighting yourself and finally understand the real reason weight loss has felt so hard, this episode is for you. Brandy Lynn Hall was a 32-year-old firefighter and mother of two from Brevard County, Florida, who vanished on the evening of August 17th, 2006, after leaving her volunteer fire station in Malabar. The next day, her prized green pickup truck was found deliberately submerged in a nearby pond with a significant amount of her blood inside but no trace of Brandy herself. As time went on, scattered personal items surfaced miles away, but no body, no clear timeline, and no definitive suspect ever emerged. Despite connections to her husband's recent drug case, a long-term affair with a fellow firefighter, and a series of investigative missteps, Brandy's disappearance remains one of Florida's most mystifying unsolved cases. Try our coffee! - www.CriminalCoffeeCo.comBecome a Patreon member -- > https://www.patreon.com/CrimeWeeklyShop for your Crime Weekly gear here --> https://crimeweeklypodcast.com/shopYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CrimeWeeklyPodcastWebsite: CrimeWeeklyPodcast.comInstagram: @CrimeWeeklyPodTwitter: @CrimeWeeklyPodFacebook: @CrimeWeeklyPod ADS:1. https://www.Chime.com/CrimeWeekly - Join millions who are banking FEE-FREE today!2. https://www.EatIQBAR.com - Text WEEKLY to 64000 for 20% off ALL IQBAR products and FREE shipping!3. https://www.TakeLean.com - Use code CRIMEWEEKLY to get 20% off and FREE rush shipping!4. https://www.WeightWatchers.com/CrimeWeekly - Get your special offer today!5. https://www.OneSkin.com/CrimeWeekly - Use code CRIMEWEEKLY for 15% off!

The quality of calories matters to your health. (8:00) What you eat determines what your body does. (11:15) There is a limit to how much you should eat, however. (12:00) Natural foods trigger satiety; ultra-processed foods mess with the body's natural signaling hormones. There are three types of hunger: homeostatic (physical), hedonic (emotional), and conditioned (social). (17:00) Food companies, over the years, have developed ways to keep you eating, even when your body isn't truly hungry. (27:00) Many foods trigger a conditioned response. The term "food noise" is all over the place. Once you get your hormones working properly through low-carb, "food noise" goes away. (31:00) The process isn't overnight, but it will happen. Dr. Fung offers his thoughts on "food noise." (33:00) So much of our eating today is driven by conditioned responses and activities paired with food. GLP1s Are Not Magic GLP-1 naturally occurs in the body, and certain foods like protein and fiber will trigger it properly in your body. But the medical doses administered pharmacologically are massive and squelch all hunger signals. The biggest problem with exogenous GLP-1s is the loss of your body's ability to learn and respond to proper hunger signals. (36:30) Another issue is that it can also dull *everything* else in life, too. (40:00) They are a tool, not a magic bullet. Oftentimes, when a person stops the drug, they often gain even more fat than before. (42:00) There is, of course, the concern of muscle loss as well. If you are already fighting sarcopenia and add GLP-1s, there could be serious issues to follow. (43:00) Vinnie discusses "eating through" both bariatric surgery and now the GLP-1 meds. (46:00) These drugs can be effective, but there is always a cost. They discuss the transition Weight Watchers made when it entered the GLP-1 market. (54:00) They discuss other peptides and whether or not they are beneficial. (57:00) They discuss other "miracle cure" trends. What you *can* do is trust real food!
