Stacey Hanke grew up on a dairy farm in central Wisconsin. For over two decades now, she's been providing executive mentoring and helping sales professionals become more influential. In this episode, Stacey shares how she applied what she observed growing up on the farm to running an entrepreneurial business. Here's some of what you'll learn in this episode: How their father's drive and passion influenced Stacey and her sisters/team members. Why Stacey spent time in large corporations before starting her own business. How you can see yourself through your potential customers' eyes. What people have learned over the last four years. How receiving some harsh feedback ended up being a turning point in Stacey's career. Why being part of the Strategic Coach® community is a game changer. How Stacey has managed having work relationships with her sisters. Show Notes: Strategic Coach thinking tools are like plants. They're planted in your brain, and they develop at different rates. All growth is compounded growth. If you have entrepreneurial drive, you can decide that the sky's the limit. If you want entrepreneurism in your life, you have to choose what you do appropriately. Having purpose becomes more important as you get older. Communicating with influence is a process of constant development and has to be consistent. How we show up and interact with others determines who's in our circle, the businesses we run, and the money in our pockets. People are finally understanding the power of communication because there are now so many different mediums that we're trying to influence people through. Communication is the core of everything you do, no matter what industry you're in. It doesn't matter what you know if you can't communicate it effectively. Feeling influential and confident doesn't always translate to how you're actually perceived. How smart you are doesn't determine how influential you are either. Before we can change anything in our lives, we have to be self-aware. When you reach a certain point in your career, people are going to stop telling you the truth and start telling you what they think you want to hear. If you don't demonstrate consistency, people question whether you're trustworthy. How you communicated years ago might not work for where you are now. What is common sense is not common practice. It's important to get comfortable with being uncomfortable because the minute you understand the discomfort, growth will happen. Diving into the stories and lessons we can learn from the Jeff Bezos and the rise of Amazon from the Brad Stone's book, The Everything Store, and the writings of Jeff Bezos Invent and Wander-----"I will hazard a prediction. When you are eighty years old and, in a quiet moment of reflection, narrating for only yourself the most personal version of your life story, the telling that will be most compact and meaningful will be a series of choices you have made….And when I'm eighty I want to have minimized the number of regrets I have in my life, and most of our regrets are acts of omission, things we didn't try, the path untraveled. Those are the things that haunt us."- Jeff Bezos1:50 - Pursue excitement/Make decisions through your 80-year old self7:45- Chasing Dreams are like start-ups9:40 - A duality mindset"You have to have this duality in your head. On the one hand you're you know what the Baseline statistics say about startup companies and the other hand you have to ignore all of that and just be 100% sure it's going to work and you're doing both things at the same time you're holding that contradiction in your head."12:00- Doubts about Amazon14:00 - Amazon's philosophy“If you want to get to the truth about what makes us different, it's this. The hosts take a hilarious trip down memory lane, reminiscing about the good old days of AIM (AOL Instant Messenger). They crack up over their embarrassingly bad usernames—ones that should probably never see the light of day again. You know that cringe-worthy online persona you thought was behind you? Turns out, it never really leaves! They dive into how their AIM alter-egos might still be haunting their present-day selves, proving once again that the internet never forgets. It's a delightful mix of awkward nostalgia and a gentle reminder of how those early days of the internet shaped us all.➡️ But it's not all goofy usernames and AIM nostalgia. The conversation gets deeper (but still funny!) when they tackle how social media has made us all professional curators of our own lives. The hosts poke fun at the gap between the online versions of ourselves and the real deal, dropping truth bombs about authenticity and how everyone's just trying to “fit in” online. And just when you think things couldn't get more entertaining, they throw in some absurd ideas about modern marketing, suggesting brands take on the wild task of marketing to the homeless. It's a genius blend of sharp social commentary and laugh-out-loud moments that'll keep you thinking—and chuckling—long after the episode's over.
We spend a lot of time thinking “If I can just get this promotion, win this award, or cure this health issue, then things will be better, happier, or fulfilled.” But what happens when the achievement we worked for becomes our identity and then ultimately falls away or disappoints?Or if that dream is delayed or isn't fulfilled at all?How can we begin to untangle our identity from our achievements and circumstances? How can we see our platform or skills as a vessel for purpose instead of being our purpose? In this episode, Jordan talks with Demi Tebow about identity, purpose, perfectionism, and finding purpose amid uncertain seasons.Tune in to learn:The danger of tying personal identity to accomplishments and how to untangle your identity from your labelsHow to stay rooted in your eternal purpose and use your skills as a platform for the GospelThe difference between excellence and perfectionismWhat it looks like to pursue presence over perfectionHow to trust God and move forward when we find ourselves in a season of uncertaintyWhat it means to "be interruptible"Want to dig deeper into this topic?
