In this episode, I'm revisiting a message I previously shared with our church because the truth in it is just too good not to share again. Looking at the story of Noah and the flood in Genesis, we talk about what it means to trust God when life feels overwhelming. Storms will come, but God provides what we need to stay afloat in the middle of them. My hope is that this message encourages you to keep trusting Him. Shoot us a Text.Episode #1289: GM revives the Bolt—but only briefly—as EV strategy shifts again. Scout Motors confirms its rugged Terra and Traveler won't reach customers until 2028. A new study finds heavy AI tool use may cause “AI brain fry.”Show Notes with links:GM is bringing back the Chevy Bolt—but not for long. The affordable EV is returning to production in Kansas, yet the company already plans to phase it out quickly as market realities, policy shifts, and demand changes reshape the EV strategy. The Bolt is planned as a “limited run.” Analysts expect production could end as early as next year as GM shifts the Kansas plant to build the gasoline-powered Chevrolet Equinox starting in 2027.The Bolt historically brought a huge number of conquest buyers—about 75% of owners were new to GM, and roughly 72% stayed within the brand when buying their next vehicle.Chevy still sees EVs as a key growth channel even as incentives disappear and demand cools. As Chevy VP Scott Bell told dealers: “You worked so hard to freakin' be No. 2. Why would you let it go?”Scout Motors fans hoping to get behind the wheel soon will need a little more patience. The revived off-road brand says its Terra pickup and Traveler SUV are still on track—but real customer deliveries likely won't start until 2028.Scout CEO Scott Keogh confirmed that while vehicles should begin rolling off the production line in 2027, customer deliveries are expected sometime in 2028.The company plans multiple prototype phases starting in 2026, building successive generations of test vehicles through 2027 to refine the platform, software, and production process.A February report from German outlet Der Spiegel had already flagged technical challenges causing delays, though Keogh pushed back on the framing: "There's no defining 'Oh my God' technical challenge that can't be solved. There are hurdles every minute of every day… Automotive startup business is what I see.”As AI tools flood the workplace, researchers are spotting a new side effect: “AI brain fry.” A Harvard Business Review study found that while AI boosts productivity, juggling too many tools at once can lead to mental fog, slower decisions, and cognitive overload for some workers.A study of 1,488 full-time U.S. workers found about 14% report symptoms of “AI brain fry,” including mental fog, headaches, and slower decision-making after heavy AI use.Productivity rises when workers use one or two AI tools, but gains flatten or decline when juggling three or more, as constant switching and verification increase cognitive load. The effect is most common in marketing (25.9%), HR (19.3%), operations (17.9%), and software engineering (17.8%), industries adopting AI tools fastest.Today's show is brought to you by iPaJoin Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/

Hey, episode 22 is here and it's time to get quackin'!  We're talkin' the Anaheim Ducks, who were still mighty, but started to sorta take themselves seriously with this Cup winning team! Lead by the Bros Neidermeyer and big ol' Chris Pronger and a tidy 'tendy tandem of Giguere and Bryzgalov, this squad was far from fowl.  Upfront, they featured a balanced attack up front featuring Teemu and his bionic knee, plus future Sid-sideman Chris Kunitz and young ducklings Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf!  Plus, who the heck remembers Andy McDonald?!?  They capped off a heckuva year by dispatching the Sens in 5, winning their only cup to date.In the second frame, we recap a busy trade deadline that saw some big names moved, with the Avs somehow coming out with a stronger squad, solidifying their Cup chances.  Plus, Chevy finally made a move, finally shipping out the Stanimal and Luke Schenn. We think it's the smart play, but we're certainly in the minority as the local hockey "experts" seem to think #64 should have been a Jet post-deadline.We also take a look back at our pre-season predictions and see if we could actually see into the future, or if we were simply just wrong again.  All this plus an Upper Deck pack attack and a trio of great tunes!

Elex Michaelson checks in from CNN headquarters in Atlanta with “The Story Is…” and the latest on the war in Iran—plus the ripple effects hitting everything from global stability to what you’re paying at the pump. The show also spotlights the national tribute for Rev. Jesse Jackson, as major political figures—including former presidents—gather in Chicago to honor his legacy. Back in Southern California: a wind advisory has everyone on edge, Waymo stories keep getting weirder (wrong-way moments, traffic headaches, and “would you ride in one?” becomes the question of the night), and Caltrans drops the hammer with a 55-hour stretch of I-5 repaving closures in Burbank. And because the show always makes room for the pop-culture pivot: Paris Hilton launches a new digital series spotlighting women-run businesses. Clay drops a hard warning after a nightmare story out of Memphis/North Mississippi: a dad and his 11- or 12-year-old daughter were lured to a back road and shot to death over a PlayStation they were trying to buy on Facebook Marketplace. The family's now calling on the Latin Kings for street justice — we might be watching a gang war kick off over a few hundred bucks.   Clay's message is crystal clear: Never, ever meet strangers off Facebook Marketplace. Not at their house, not on a back road, not even in Jackson. Do it at a police station, fire department, or somewhere public with cameras and law enforcement everywhere. He's seen too many push notifications about people getting robbed or killed the exact same way.   His personal rule? Sell your car, truck, side-by-side — anything valuable — straight to a dealership like Ellis AutoPlex. They cut you a check on the spot and you walk away alive. Your life (and your kid's life) is worth way more than saving a thousand dollars or haggling with some Craigslist maniac.   Clay even admits he left the car business partly because he couldn't stop cussing out the rude, lowballing Marketplace idiots. Now he's got a full axe to grind and jokes about one day building the perfect fake profile just to troll them with OBS Tahoes and cat-eye Chevys until they lose their minds.   Common sense PSA: If the deal seems too good to be true or the buyer is way too eager with no negotiation… run. Raw truth from the Clay Edwards Show — don't be stupid, don't be next.

Want a car meet that feels like a festival and functions like a precision machine? We sit down with Gus Flores of The CarMeet Network to unpack how a free mega show can welcome thousands, run smoothly, and still feel personal. Gus shares the core idea—vibe, connect, grow—and how smart logistics, clear parking sections, and real community-building help people find purpose as much as power. From hot rods to Hondas, WRX clubs to classic Corvette owners, the plan is simple: everyone belongs, and the layout makes every build shine. We break down the big details at Team Gilman's north complex: a 10 a.m.–2 p.m. schedule, recommended preregistration that guarantees your spot, and a live three-hour broadcast from the lot. Then the headline-grabber: six vehicles, two from each store, raffled so winners can buy for $1,000 plus TTL. You must be 18, licensed, present, and registered to enter. It's a bold way to give back and put real keys in real hands, and it's already lighting up club chats across Subaru, Mazda, Acura, and beyond. Add a DJ, street-style dogs and burgers from Sasa Burgers, and the electricity of builders swapping stories, and you've got a meet with momentum. We also zoom out to the long game of ownership. Which brands are most likely to hit 250,000 miles? Toyota and Lexus lead with deliberate engineering and incremental updates, Honda follows with proven powertrains, and Chevy shows up strong via Suburban and Silverado. We contrast that with RAM and Jeep's long-term reliability struggles and Tesla's older-model growing pains—practical takeaways for enthusiasts choosing platforms to daily, mod, and keep. To round it out, we map five bucket-list concours events—Amelia Island, Greenwich, Cincinnati, Pebble Beach, and Ironstone—so you can plan a year long show season that spans grassroots grit and world-class elegance.Bring your ride, your crew, and your appetite. Rick explains why he and Nolan built a rare four-wheel-drive streamliner in 1980 to fight traction loss, how blown fuel became their language, and what it took to sort a one-off machine aimed squarely at 400 mph. He breaks down the differences between SCTA and FIA records, why two-way runs collided with today's shorter, rougher salt, and the day parachute failure on a return run took his father's life. The conversation is raw, clear-eyed, and focused on what changed and what still drives him to innovate safely on the Bonneville Salt Flats. Then we go under the hood of Rick and his son Brad's current project: a competition coupe built around a tiny Honda 600 body to punch the smallest hole in the air. With a 540-cubic-inch blown-fuel big block, carefully set wheelbase, and a hand-formed aluminum nose, the car is aimed at a 305 MPH class record and a blue hat. Rick shares the fix that unlocked new pace—proper tank venting for a bigger fuel pump—and how a 257 mph El Mirage record proved the direction. His years in nostalgia top fuel, including March Meet and Hot Rod Reunion wins, and how the salt taught him how to be a better drag racer. If you love Bonneville history, four-wheel-drive streamliners, FIA records, and the hard math of traction, drag, and fuel delivery, this story hits all the marks. Jason Noel, founder of Fat Fender Garage in Gilbert, Arizona, joins us this week with a story that's less about horsepower at the beginning — and more about perseverance. Jason didn't grow up chasing race cars. He was a finish carpenter by trade, building doors and crown molding before the 2008 housing collapse wiped out his business and forced a complete reset. What came next wasn't a hobby gone wild — it was a deliberate rebuild. One old truck led to another, then to customer builds, then to something much bigger than he ever planned. Today, Fat Fender Garage is a full-scale restoration shop specializing in classic Ford and Chevy trucks, known especially for early Ford F-100s and modern Coyote swaps. Along the way, Jason learned that if he wanted the quality and timelines his customers expected, he'd have to take control of the process. That meant bringing paint, upholstery, parts manufacturing, and now even chassis production in-house. What started as flipping a few trucks for fun has grown into a 75-person operation building high-end custom vehicles and engineered components designed to compete at the top of the industry. In this episode, Jason shares the hard lessons from early customer builds, the philosophy behind vertical integration, why he chose to compete directly with established chassis manufacturers, and how telling the real story — wins and failures alike — became the backbone of Fat Fender's marketing success. If you're into classic trucks, modern restomods, or the realities of scaling a business in the automotive aftermarket, this is a conversation you won't want to miss. Headlines shouted about a clean break from greenhouse gas rules, but we cut through the noise to ask what this policy swing actually means for people who buy, build, and maintain cars. We walk through the EPA endangerment repeal's potential impact on standards, pricing, and long-term planning, then shift into the only lens that really matters: how drivers live. Short commutes, home charging, and quiet torque are wins for many; long highway runs, towing, and cold snaps still test the limits. Along the way, we dig into the heat around EV subsidies, why automakers crave stable rules, and how global competition shapes what ends up in your driveway. From there we get tactical. We map the difference between range anxiety and time anxiety, explain how a simple home Level 2 setup changes daily life, and offer practical road-trip planning tips that reduce charging stress. We also deliver a crisp recall rundown—tires with potential tread separation, overheating starters, loose seat frames, and lighting faults—plus a reminder to register your tires and run a quick VIN check. Safety isn't sexy until it is.We keep the energy up with a “guess the sold price” set that teaches why a tidy Biscayne, a square-body Chevy truck, and even a stately Packard land where they do. Value follows originality, documentation, and tasteful choices. Our quick lap through auto history—Hudson's NASCAR prowess, the Miura's supercar spark, the Civic's oil-crisis rise, Kia's long climb, and the Nano's lesson in perceived value—shows how innovation, timing, and trust shape markets. We close with hard numbers on industry losses tied to EV write-downs and supply snags, and what that signals for model lineups ahead. If you care about cars, policy, and the practical choices that keep you moving, this conversation hits the sweet spot between shop-floor reality and big-picture trends. In this episode, I sit down with longtime friend and Embrace Executive Pastor, Travis Waltner, to talk about influence. What it is and how to grow yours! We talk about influence. How it's built, how it's lost, and why humility matters more than being the loudest voice in the room. We unpack how influence can be lost just as quickly as it is gained, why presence is more important than platform and what it looks like to lead in the small, unseen moments.   From leadership to everyday life, this conversation offers practical wisdom for growing influence the right way, especially in the life we live between Sundays.   Thanks to our amazing partners on this episode:  Vern Eide Motorcars is a growing employee-owned company that offers sales, service, and financing of automotive, motorcycle, and power sports lines, including Acura, Ford, Chevy, GMC, Honda, Hyundai and Mitsubishi brands. In this episode, I sit down with two of my favorite people, my mom and dad. We reflect on faith, family, and what it looks like to love people well in every season of life. The good ones, the hard ones, and the ones where you're not quite sure what God is doing.   We talk about celebrating the wins, walking through loss, and showing compassion when someone feels stuck or unsure of where to turn.    No matter where you find yourself,  I hope this episode reminds you that God's love meets you right in the middle of your everyday life, especially in the life between Sundays.
