Resurrecting America's Entrepreneurial Spirit: A Practical Approach for Creating Jobs by Joe Nicassio Amazon.com Employeeescapeplan.com Where Do Entrepreneurs Come From? Entrepreneurs are ordinary people, with a spirit of creativity. These people create commerce. When they are successful, they create JOBS. Every living person on this planet has the fibers of creativity, just like we all have muscle fibers. Every person on this planet has the capacity to be an entrepreneur. When we exercise our muscles, we get stronger, and if we don't, our muscles get weak, and atrophy. The same concept applies to our "business creation muscles." When we train our minds to create value, for the benefit of mankind, we become stronger entrepreneurs. When we fail to train our "business fibers," business stagnates, fewer jobs are created, and eventually, companies fold, and unemployment soars. At the time of this writing, most entrepreneurs emerge as a societal "aberration," because their Spirit is so strong, they are driven by clear purpose, a willingness to learn "whatever it takes", and overcome all environmental and psychological barriers. The thesis of this book is: In order to have a thriving capitalism tomorrow, we, as a nation, have an on-going vested interest in nurturing entrepreneurs today. The book is divided into 3 major sections. Section 1) Moving Our "Economic Mentality" From Employer-Reliance To Self-Reliance Section 2) Eliminating "Spirit Killers" & Replace Them With "Spirit Builders" Section 3) Prayerful Meditation To Build Your Personal Spirit, and Create The Conditions For Miracles To Manifest in Your Business This book is a unique approach to job creation. It is NOT about tax codes, economic policy, or regulations. It is about nurturing entrepreneurs at the grass roots level. This book will remind you that if you want a "dream job," you will need to create it for yourself. No one else is going to do it for you. If you own a business, if you want to start a business, or you are interested in education reform, you will find this book thought-provoking, insightful, and uniquely valuable. About the author Joe Nicassio (1961-present) was born in Los Angeles, California, he grew up in Alta Loma, California, then lived in Long Beach for 30 years. After his interest with technology, he became more interested in human nature, and obsessed with discovering "the truth" of business success. He has been a sought after marketing consultant, and named the "very best" copywriter in LA by Levine Communications Office. He currently is an offline marketing expert. He is active in his church. Joe practices Shotokan Karate to keep healthy.

He comments on cycles, empire, financialization, consumption, true wealth, how the future will go to those who can get the most out of the resources they extract, and why a new mythology and revolution in social and cultural values is needed. A strong digital infrastructure is crucial to creating jobs in rural America

In this episode of Work in Progress, Josh Elder, vice president and head of grantmaking for Siegel Family Endowment, joins me to discuss the importance of tech connectivity in creating access and opportunity to jobs in rural America. We also talk about the overall impact technology is having on society, education, and the way we do our jobs. For more than 10 years, the Siegel Family Endowment, a private family foundation, has supported a wide range of grantees that are focused on understanding and shaping the impact of emerging technology on society. Of late that conversation has be more and more about artificial intelligence. "The way that we've been thinking about it is understanding how AI is impacting work today, both in terms of the impact it is having on employers, but – and this is where we want to elevate this conversation – the impact of AI on workers," Elder explains. He says the big questions they are examining with their grantees are whether AI is being done to workers or is AI being done with workers. "Oftentimes when you hear about AI in the workforce, everyone immediately jumps to thinking about is AI going to replace people? Is AI going to displace people and reduce jobs? And we know we've seen some of the early stats and some of that is happening." He adds that as AI tools and products continuing to evolve, it is important to make certain the workers' voice is being listened to and integrated into those tools "to really mitigate some of the harms and the bias that we unfortunately are seeing day-to-day with more and more emerging technology taking place and impacting workers, especially marginalized workers in the workforce." Early on, our conversation in the podcast turns to jobs in rural America and the importance of access to a solid tech infrastructure, connectivity, and broadband. "If you don't even have the fundamental elements of connectivity, you're already facing obstacles and challenges that are putting you behind. That's something that we've really been looking at – especially in places like rural America – to really create the connectivity and digital infrastructure that's needed to then connect to both the physical and social infrastructure that you're going to (need) in the workforce," says Elder. As rural America faces a "brain drain" of younger adults moving out of their communities to find jobs, that digital infrastructure takes on more importance. "I speak as someone who grew up in rural America. I felt like I had to move out in order to be able to find the opportunities or pursue opportunities for things that I was interested in. I know some of that, unfortunately, is still the case. "What we are trying to do, especially with CORI (Center on Rural Innovation) and others, is look at how can you create a rural innovation ecosystem and hubs that can provide more opportunities, either for entrepreneurship or for other companies to be developed, that can actually support and provide opportunities for citizens there and also grow talent pipelines. "There's amazing talent that exists in these rural communities. They often just don't have connection to the opportunities to be able to build out for success. We're really interested in looking at the connection between education, workforce, and infrastructure needed to be able to scale these opportunities at a rapid rate," says Elder. Josh Elder goes into much more details on how Siegel Family Endowment is working with grantees to address these issues, the importance of building equitable access to jobs and education, and how we all should have a voice in tech's impact on society. Good day ladies and gentlemen, this is IRC news, I am Joy Stephen, a certified Canadian Immigration practitioner, and I bring to you this Provincial News Bulletin from the province of Alberta. This recording originates from the Polinsys studios in Cambridge, Ontario. |   The Designated Industrial Zone (DIZ) in Alberta's Industrial Heartland (AIH) launched in 2022 to streamline regulatory approvals and support infrastructure development while maintaining world-class environmental standards. The program is helping attract major new projects, including Dow's Path2Zero facility.  No new water intakes have been developed in Alberta's Industrial Heartland for more than a decade, even though demand by industry has grown. The government's $50.5-million investment over five years will help build three new water intake facilities in the DIZ. This will help create jobs, grow the petrochemical sector, reduce global emissions and diversify Alberta's economy.  Building up the Designated Industrial Zone is a transformative investment in Alberta's future. By harnessing the potential of the zone, the Alberta government will drive economic growth, stimulate innovation and create a more prosperous province today, and for future generations.    | You can always access past news from the Province of Alberta by visiting this link: https://myar.me/tag/ab/. Furthermore, if you are interested in gaining comprehensive insights into the Provincial Express Entry Federal pool Canadian Permanent Residence Program or other Canadian Federal or Provincial Immigration programs, or if you require guidance after your selection, we cordially invite you to connect with us through https://myar.me/c. Navigating the Highs and Lows of Cannabis Business with Frank Perullo Broadcasting live from MJ BizCon in Las Vegas, Karson Humiston had the pleasure of sitting down with Frank Perullo, the co-founder of Ascend Wellness, a name that's become synonymous with success in the cannabis industry. They dove into a rich conversation about the evolution of the cannabis industry, Ascend's growth, and the challenges and triumphs of being a cannabis entrepreneur. Frank's journey began in 2012 when Massachusetts passed its medical cannabis law. As a political consultant and lobbyist, he saw an opportunity where others hesitated, leading to the creation of a cannabis practice that leveraged his expertise in land use and advocacy. The pivotal moment for Ascend came in 2018, as adult-use cannabis was on the horizon in Massachusetts. Frank teamed up with his business partner, Abner Curtin, to leverage their combined skills in investing and consulting within the cannabis space. They faced the daunting task of securing their first retail license in downtown Boston without any direct cannabis experience. Through strategic hiring and a relentless work ethic, they not only secured the license but also expanded into Illinois and Michigan, setting the stage for Ascend's presence in seven states.Frank shared insights on building a team that embodies intellectual curiosity, a high motor, and a customer-centric approach. He emphasized the importance of perseverance and the ability to navigate the industry's unique challenges and barriers. As Ascend grew, Frank transitioned into a director role, focusing on expanding into new markets and working with government partners to advance the industry. He stressed the significance of founders stepping back at the right time to allow their companies to flourish under new leadership.Reflecting on the state of the industry, Frank predicted that 2024 could be a monumental year, especially if the government removes the burdensome 280E tax code. Ethnotek is so much more than just a bag! It's a celebration of culture, it's a community, it's a global movement! The one thing all of the Ethnotek weavers and artisans have in common is the fact that their craft is disappearing. Every year they see less and less local demand for their fabrics due to low yield and long lead times.Traditional techniques are quickly being replaced by machines and factory labor in major cities, drastically reducing the number of jobs and industry in the regions where it is needed most.By creating new demand for these traditional handcraft practices, the brand and its customers are in a sense forging an effort to keep them alive and well and in the same villages from which they came. The last and most important part of the mission is to spread the idea that we should all celebrate each other's differences more often. The only way culture can stay alive is if we keep it that way.Culture runs deep; from the tribes of Yunnan Province to the Subways of New York City. From the Ghats of Varanasi to the Cafes of Paris. To ensure the survival of these incredibly interesting differences we must learn about them and retell their story. This is why we see our bags as a flag. A flag that you wave which says, "I care".Check out Ethnotek's Sourcing Roadmap: This is an article to describe Ethnotek's internal ethical guidelines for working with artisans and is to provide suggestions to designers & business owners who are looking to practice Cultural Inclusion in their supply chain."We in no way claim to be experts in this department and are still learning, but we do have over 10 years of first-hand experience and not only does our system work well, everyone is happy and having fun in the process!"Listen to more Causeartist podcasts here.Powered by: ReFi Jobs - ReFi jobs curates the best new regenerative finance jobs at leading companies and startups - Learn more---> Check out the Causeartist Partners here.---> Subscribe to the Causeartist Newsletter here.Listen to more Causeartist podcast shows hereFollow Grant on Twitter and LinkedInFollow Causeartist on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram

A note from Talking Taiwan host Felicia Lin:   So much has happened since I interviewed John Fan, one of the co-founders of PicCollage back in December. PicCollage is an app that allows you to create fun things with your photos and videos. It is one of the most popular apps in the photo and video app category in the app store.   We actually spoke the day after Talking Taiwan won a Golden Crane Podcast Award. It was a fascinating conversation not only about PicCollage, but about what it was like for John being in Taiwan when it was one of the few places in the world relatively unaffected by COVID at the beginning of the pandemic, and how it attracted COVID refugees that included some of Taiwan's most talented influential diaspora. John also talked about how the startup scene in Taiwan has changed in the ten years that he's lived there.   Here's a little preview of what we talked about in this podcast episode:   How PicCollage is an app that allows you to create fun things with your photos and videos How PicCollage as a company that creates a variety of apps related to greetings, video editing, and wellness The WOWSHI app inspired by Japanese washi tapes designed to mimic the tactile experience of applying washi tape, which can be a form of relaxation The idea for the WOWSHI app came out of the realization that during the pandemic people were looking for ways to de-stress How PicCollage was started 10 years ago and was initially designed primarily for the iPad 10 years ago apps like Uber, Instagram and Snapchat were still relatively new How PicCollage was started in Silicon Valley but has much of its operations in Taiwan John's experience as a Taiwanese American having moved to Taiwan and lived there for 10 years The challenges of running a business in multiple time zones The advantages of running a business in Taiwan The freedom and creativity in Taiwan The popularity of bubble tea and cat cafes of Taiwan How Taiwan is connected to and influenced by China, Japan and the U.S. Taiwan's kawaii i.e. cute aesthetic which has been influenced by Japan Kawaii culture in the in the campaign for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Chen Shui-bian How Bitmoji was created in 2007 PicCollage's Silicon Valley values and Taiwanese employees How PicCollage has offered its team members U.S. $3,500 to spend on learning about or getting training on something of their own choice How PicCollage's values are a mix from Silicon Valley and Taiwan: Always Be Learning. Be Proactive and Overcommunicate. Win As A Team. How PicCollage has changed and evolved over time John's work experience prior to PicCollage What it has been like starting and running PicCollage How PicCollage values user feedback and has invited users to come in for user interviews on Fridays What they have learned from user feedback e.g. the ability to save/back up the collages on their phone in the cloud Artist collaborations with PicCollage have included collaborations with individual artists, Sanrio, and tokidoki What it's been like being in Taiwan when it was relatively unaffected by COVID at the beginning of the pandemic, and attracted COVID refugees How Taiwan was one of the first countries to be aware of the threat of COVID early on in the pandemic and was prepared due to its prior experience with SARS How Taiwan was able to maintain zero COVID cases up until April/May 2021 and attracted COVID refugees, like the founders of Rotten Tomatoes, Twitch and YouTube The use of Gather and Kumospace as Taiwan has gone into partial lockdown and adopted working remotely How has the startup culture in Taiwan changed in the 10 years that John has been in Taiwan How software startups exist in the shadows of Taiwan's two major industries: the semiconductor industry and ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) industry or contract manufacturing industries How Taiwan can play a role in the software industry How people in Taiwan vs Japan and Korea, are more willing to take a risk and work for smaller companies instead of large companies and conglomerates How the startup Gogoro has been able to get a lot of funding How Appier went public in Japan There's been greater investor interest in Taiwan startups than in the past 500 Startups has set up a branch in Taiwan How there are more VCs (venture capital) in Taiwan now How there are more VCs investing in software How Taiwan can excel in creativity and design Pinkoi. “the Etsy of Asia” that was started in Taiwan GagaOOLala, an LGBTQ+, “Netflix for Asia” that was started in Taiwan How Taiwan needs people with senior level experience with product marketing, and engineering management, and this void could be filled by Taiwan's diaspora or those interested in working with Taiwanese companies How PicCollage is hiring   Related Links:

If you have always had a love for DIY projects or you developed a love during the lockdown, you will agree that walking into a store dedicated to DIY projects is like being a kid in a candy store. The pandemic inspired so many people to take up projects in their homes, from redecorating rooms and revamping the garden to repurposing rooms into offices, schools and gyms. We were told to stay home, and so we made our homes useful to our needs. The need for DIY-related shopping was at an all-time high, so it was no surprise when we learned that a new store was opening for residents of Northern Johannesburg and its surrounds. Leroy Merlin's newest store will be hosting its grand opening in Fourways on 26 March, to the sheer delight of local DIYers! Leroy Merlin Fourways is the 4th of its kind in Johannesburg. It specialises in construction, hardware, kitchen, bathroom, home decor and garden products, 65% of which are locally sourced. The incredible new brand has opened up many employment options as well as a new awesome project to help a community centre in the area!
