Truly grateful for the opportunity to publicly thank one of my newfound mentors, Chris Coffey, who was instrumental in my radio/podcast sponsorship partnership with, Dr. Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Coaching! Executive Coach, Chris Coffey, is one of the best of the best whose specialty is working with “hard-nosed” leaders! A Not-To-Be-Missed Show on my C-Suite Radio / C-Suite Network !! Chris Coffey is very driven in to “help successful leaders get even better, sustain it, and have others recognize and acknowledge it” and he is uniquely masterful in working with “hard-nosed” leaders. As he worked with Marshall Goldsmith for over three decades he is also a major contributor to the development of Marshall’s Stakeholder Centered Coaching methodology. As an executive coach he has impacted the professional lives and careers of high level executives and their teams from a diversity of industries and cultural contexts in transformative ways. Chris is an exemplar of leadership development due to his decades of successfully coaching executives and his use of well-placed humor and irony. Chris’ charisma inspires positive and forward looking solutions and turning challenges into opportunities. Chris is exceptionally gifted in telling powerful stories and cases in which he integrates management theory and best leadership practice and wraps this into actionable bundles of change. At the start of his collaboration with Marshall, Chris took part in the development of the highly successful Excellent Manager Program for IBM. This flagship leadership development program for IBM was later adopted by various other firms like Warner Lambert, Citibank, Apple and many other Fortune 500 companies. Later on Chris co-founded Marshall Goldsmith: Stakeholder Centered Coaching® with Frank Wagner and Marshall. Chris is dedicated to engage high-performing leaders whose organizations want to accelerate their development, build bench strength, and create a coaching culture. Chris’ coaching style is straightforward and is built around nourishing the behaviors of successful people. Naturally curious and a life-long learner, Chris has the ability to take in the whole and synthesize out the essential. The underpinning of his coaching developed from this ability to understand the belief set of successful people and then determine how successful people get even better. Chris tailors this insight combined with coaching skill creating a custom developmental process advancing the positive aspects of leaders’ beliefs while overcoming the aspects that hold them back in order to assure measurable and sustainable growth. Chris is the author of the best seller “Secrets of a Leadership Coach Guidebook” along with Marshall Goldsmith and Daniel Farb. This work imparts wisdom from executive coaches to help increase personal and communication skills resulting in better leadership, personal interactions and team-building. His newest book ‘The New IQ, Leading up down and across using Innovative Questions’ is centered around Peter Drucker’s philosophy of “The leader of the past knew how to tell, the leader of the future will know how to ask”. Leaders learn the skills of using various types of questions and statements that will help them change the course of interactions, engage in more productive conversations, and create the impact they are looking for. On December 6, 2018, Juan Williams, the political analyst for Fox News, bestselling author, and civil rights expert addressed the Trump administration’s sweeping rollback of the civil rights movement at the City Bar's Public Affairs Luncheon. Donald Trump’s campaign pitch to African Americans was: “What the hell do you have to lose?” According to Juan, the answer is: Quite a lot, as it turns out. He believes that the Trump administration’s policies and intentions pose a threat to civil rights without precedent in modern America. Based on his observations of the current state of politics and race relations with insights from the long, and sometimes forgotten, history of the civil rights movement, as Juan asserts in his new book, knowing our past is essential if we are to understand our present, and shape our future. Speaker: Juan Williams has covered and written about American politics for four decades. He is currently a columnist for The Hill, and was a longtime writer and correspondent for The Washington Post and NPR. Juan is currently a cohost of Fox News Channel's roundtable debate show The Five, and makes regular appearances across the network, where he regularly challenges the orthodoxy of the network's conservative stalwarts. He is also the author of numerous books, including Eyes on the Prize, Thurgood Marshall, Enough, Muzzled, and We The People. Sponsoring Association Committee: Senior Lawyers Committee, Barry M. Meticulous Nazi records of Jews killed in the death camps identify fewer than half of the Holocaust's victims. When, where and how were the other victims killed? Father Patrick Desbois, a French Roman Catholic priest, has sought and found the answer to this question. As a young priest, Father Desbois visited a town in Ukraine where his grandfather, a French Resistance fighter, had been incarcerated by the Nazis. By speaking with village elders, he learned of the process by which the town's Jews had been rounded up, executed and buried in mass graves. His research established that this process had been repeated thousands of times throughout Eastern Europe. Father Desbois discussed his research and the continued effort to uncover genocidal practices around the world, in this Public Affairs Luncheon on February 12, 2019. Speaker: Father Patrick Desbois has devoted his life to the study of the Holocaust and other genocides. He is a founder of Yahad – in Unum (“Together in One”), a global NGO dedicated to discovering genocidal practices around the world and providing documented proof of crimes against humanity. His organization presents “Holocaust by Bullets” – Enhanced Teacher Training seminars to educators around the world. He has spent the last several years with his team gathering testimony from survivors of the Yazidi massacres in Iraq at the hands of ISIS. Coaching is gaining prominence as a key tool to help people grow and improve behavior and performance. In fact, many progressive companies are using coaching to replace the onerous performance management systems of the industrial era that no one loved and virtually did little to improve the performance of many. Our guest, Chris Coffey, is a leading leadership development expert who has made coaching a central part of his development efforts. He has leveraged the Marshall Goldsmith method and created a process that really does help good people become better. He has the facts, because his process measures the impact of coaching on behavior change. Join us as we talk with Chris on this powerful development tool that is taking over the corporate world. Chris Coffey started his career teaching Situational Leadership for Paul Hersey at the Center of Leadership Studies in the early 1980s. He later worked with the consulting firm of Keilty, Goldsmith, Boone and did leadership training at IBM, Warner Lambert, Coke, McKinsey and Company, MetLife and GE. For over 30 years, Chris has been in the leadership development world and has worked with and coached hundreds of key leaders and successful individuals – helping them develop the leadership to become even more effective. Chris's coaching style is direct and well-defined around the Stakeholder Centered Coaching Process he co-developed with Frank Wagner and Marshall Goldsmith.

This week Bob and Dale discuss topics sent in from listeners Don Hubbell from Virginia (What is the biggest contributor to the cigar aroma? Filler, binder or wrapper?), Frank Wagner from Wisconsin (Why not give CRA memberships to anti-smoking proponents?) and Frank Reiter from Missouri (DogWatch's recent appearance on The Cigar Authority). Angry Bill from California checks in on the herf line to review the La Flor Dominicana Air Bender. Darren Powell from Illinois is this month's lucky winner of a black carbon fiber Palio cutter. Thank you to Justin Bill from Illinois for this week's "What's my band?" cigar, the Partegas Havana Cifuentes Y Cia, and to Bryan Newbury from Centro Cigars in Kansas for providing Bob with some great "What else have you been smokin'?" cigars. Don't forget to check out the show at www.livestream.com/cigar_radio where the show is broadcast live most Friday evenings at 9 PM EST. Cigar of the Week - Cain Daytona. A kinder, gentler Cain for cigar smokers that still exhibits lots of outstanding flavors. The CAIN DAYTONA is a medium bodied offering blended using only Jalapa Ligeros. Jalapa Valley is Nicaragua’s northern most tobacco area. It is well known for producing the country’s most medium and smooth fillers and the CAIN DAYTONA takes its flavor profile from this distinct area. I have been smoking these heavily for the last week and I just cannot believe the rich flavors that come with this medium bodied all ligero smoke. Oliva did an outstanding job with this cigar by retaining the character of the much fuller bodied "F," yet softening the body and bringing out the flavors that are harder to get in an F. This is my new favorite Oliva cigar. 5 Sizes: Robusto, 5x50; Corona, 6x46; "60," 6x60; No. 4, 4.5x43 (petite corona); and Torpedo, 6x54. Dark Side - - Saint Luis Rey Regios A classic Cuban cigar that demonstrates that special straw flavor but adds a nice sweet spice throughout the entire smoke. What else have you been smokin' Dale? Graycliff Double Espresso - 4.5" x 54 The Double Espresso is a limited line extension of the Espresso series. Made from tobaccos grown on Graycliff's organic farms in Central America, the tobacco is triple fermented and cured for 12 months. The Double Espresso has an extra "shot" of ligero and is covered in a Costa Rican wrapper. The cigar is very strong yet very smooth, delivering earthy flavors of, what else....coffee! Not much complexity, yet a good cigar for certain occasions if you can stomach the strength. Graycliff Platinum Edition - (same one Bob smoked last week - red & silver band) Didn't measure this bad boy, but a large ring gauge cigar that was not only uncomfortable to hold & smoke, it also wasn't nearly as good as the Double Espresso. Medium strength, full bodied with a lot of spice in the last 3rd. The cigar just didn't have any personality and was not interesting in the least. All Nicaraguan filler tobacco wrapped in a Brazilian leaf. Nowhere near worth the MSRP of $20. Padron 1964 Anniversary Series Superior 6.5" x 42 This example was in the Sun Grown wrapper and delivered tons of Padron goodness! Smooth, earthy, complex and very well balanced. Flavors of mildly sweetened coffee, honey, roasted nuts and light cedar are the core components. This is a cigar worth every penny. What else have you been smokin' Bob? Pinar del Rio Oscuro Corona - Thanks to Bryan Newbury at Centro Cigar in Lawrence, Kansas - This vitola really brings out the best of the line with pepper spices to tingle your tastebuds. Full flavored but not strong, this cigar is a joy to smoke. J Fuego Delirium- Again, thank you to Bryan Newbury for this fine cigar - Sometimes a cigar hits you just right and today the Delirium was just the right cigar for the moment. Full bodied with dark roasted flavors and just a hint of spice. Romeo y Juiliette Anniversary - I was fully prepared not to like this large ring guage implementation of a classic brand but I found it easy to smoke; not challenging to the palate but a nice change-of-pace. What's My Band? - this week's Unbanded Cigar, the Partegas Havana Cifuentes Y Cia, was provided by Justin Bill. March Palio Cutter Contest Winner: Darren Powell from Urbana, Illinois, won the black carbon fiber Palio Cutter. Enter the April contest now to win a Burl Palio Cutter.
