Along the path of his eclectic career, Tom Jackobs picked out the high-payoff tidbits you need to craft a story that moves people to action. That's charisma in a nutshell, and being an extrovert is NOT required. It's about creating a teaching moment, a pitch that doesn't sound like a pitch (because no one likes being sold to!) What you are really going to love about this episode, and I'm speaking to those whose work is related to technology and or engineering, is that Tom has a PROCESS for crafting a story that sells. What Laura and Tom really focus on is “selling” your solutions/proposals to senior leadership, how to find that story that sells the value you offer. (You should probably listen to this episode twice, just saying.)
The No Labels, No Limits podcast is excited to introduce a truly remarkable guest, Thomas Vincent Jackobs. Tom is a seasoned entrepreneur who has experienced the highs and lows of the business world. With over 30 years as an entrepreneur, Tom's journey has been a rollercoaster of failures and successes that have shaped him into the person he is today. But here's the twist—he wouldn't trade those failures for anything. They've been the building blocks of his growth and resilience. In 2017, Tom made a significant move, selling his fitness business of 9 years to embark on a new adventure as the Impact Pilot. His mission? Helping fellow entrepreneurs soar to new heights by generating more income through ingenious sales conversion strategies and the power of storytelling. With a BFA Degree in Theatre from DePaul University and licenses for Land, Sea, and Air (including a private pilot license for single-engine airplanes and SCUBA certification), Tom's skills are as diverse as they come. Not just limited to the entrepreneurial world, Tom has made appearances on various media platforms, from CBS Radio and Great Day Houston television show to Univision Television, Fox 26 News, KPRC Channel 2, and The CW Houston. He is also a presenter at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Houston.Today, we're going to dive deep (scuba reference) into Tom's journey, his passion for helping others succeed, and how his diverse experiences have shaped his approach to business and life. As we move through the interview, Thomas and I chat about:•How to craft an impactful story so we can grow their business and influence others•His rollercoaster life as an entrepreneur, overcoming real and perceived limitations•What roles do mentorship and community play in our professional growth•How to handle self-doubt and imposter syndrome? Practical tips or recommendations that you implement in your own life to keep motivated and successful.Tom cleverly says, "Everyone has a story within them that will inspire their prospect or audience to take action.”Tune in and enjoy the conversation!Learn more and connect with Tom here:Instagram: @impactpilotTwitter: @tomjackobsFacebook: facebook.com/tom.jackobs Facebook: facebook.com/jackobseffect YouTube: https://www.TomJackobs.com/YouTube LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/trainertom/Website: www.TomJackobs.comCraft your own story! www.TomJackobs.com/storybook Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. When it comes to sharing your story, it's not just about the art. It's not just about sharing the right story. These are two important pieces. Regardless of the story you're telling you need to understand that, as a speaker, there's a science behind it, and where that story MUST land with your audience. Carls' guest today has years of experience in business and in speaking and shares his journey and how the power of story can have massive impact on your business! Tom Jackobs has been an entrepreneur for 30+ years. He's definitely had more failures than successes, but wouldn't have it any other way. He sold his fitness business which he owned for 9 years to become the Impact Pilot, helping entrepreneurs generate more income through better sales strategy and using stories to sell.Tom has a BFA degree in Theatre from DePaul University in Chicago, and holds his private pilot licence for single engine airplanes, which was a lifelong dream he achieved in 2013. Primarily to buy the product or service of the speaker. Tom helps his clients craft their impactful stories so they can grow their business. For Tom storytelling is as much an art as a science. Join us as we take a journey through Celebrity Chef Adrian Perez's rise to the top! Adrian Perez was born in the small quaint town of Beeville, Tx. He spent his childhood, knee hi, watching his father, Ruben Perez, run a Tex-Mex restaurant, and mother Leticia Perez, run a women's gift shop and boutique. His father finally decided to end his 30 year long run in the restaurant industry selling the business. Never having a job outside the family businesses, he started his first outside work experience at the HEB Grocery Store Chain. Adrian attended Culinary School at Del Mar College. He soon was promoted to Manager. A call from corporate HEB and the local Corpus Christi Channel 3 news station opened the first door into an extended career in media. Live cooking demos on the 30 year long running show, Domingo Live, was his first TV appearance as a chef. Soon after, local hip hop station offered him a position as an Emcee Hosting shows at a nightclub, cutting commercials for the radio, and broadcasting live from club events. He then made the move, with HEB, to Houston, TX. In Adrian's first week in Houston, he became the official HEB TV Correspondent for Houston's live audience show, Great Day Houston with Debra Duncan on KHOU Channel 11. Other TV cooking spots came about for Channel 2 News “Cooking Time with HEB”, Good Taste TV with Emmy Award winning Tanji Patton, and News Channel CW 39. Adrian also had the pleasure of working on television with Skinny Girl Mogul Bethany Frankel and Celebrity Fit Club and weight loss expert Dr. Ian Smith. Continuing his steady career with television, a full-time position at HEB, and Complete Eats growing as a business, Adrian decided to take the plunge, and leave HEB after 11 years of service. Adrian made it to national television as a competitor on The Food Network, but soon found himself living out of his jeep and sleeping in his rented commercial kitchen common area just to make ends meet. It was during the darkest and most difficult time of his life that his determination and passion for excellent customer service earned Adrian a referral and opportunity to serve as private chef to the late President Bush Sr. and Mrs. Barbara Bush. President Bush & Mrs. Bush had not only granted him an opportunity for work, but served as a reminder of how far he had come. Over the next 2 years Adrian's presence on local news channels expanded from Houston to multiple others in San Antonio, Beaumont, El Paso, Laredo, Austin, Dallas & Corpus Christi providing culinary infotainment all over Texas & more. As a creative, Chef Adrian recently added “actor” to the list of outlets as he walked into his first and only audition, and booked his first role in a movie. Aside from a life of daily work and following numerous passions, Adrian dedicates all philanthropic time and efforts to raising up women. Starting with his mother, a breast cancer survivor and business owner herself, to his entrepreneurial great great great grandmother, he credits the female influences in his life to be the unsung heroes and true mentors that have taught him the important keys to happiness, emotional intelligence and success. Hello Friends! Join Donna and Paula as they chat with Wild Fire! Be sure to check out the interview on YouTube The best singers draw from experience. And that's true for young as well as well-seasoned artists. Though still in their mid teens, sisters Kelli and Kayla Iutzwig, a.k.a. Wild Fire, prove this point at show after show, in song after song. Their self-titled, debut EP Wild Fire confirms that their future is bright. Their sophomore EP Been There., released in April, 2019, confirms that this future is now, with a soundtrack that's infectious, fun and impossible to resist. More than that, they are already conveying their stories through music in ways that inspire with audiences their age and beyond. Singly and in harmony, they channel the optimism of youth, sprinkle in the spice of early insight into life's lessons, super-charge it with jolt of pop and the sass of country. No wonder Linda Wilson, President of the Texas Country Music Association, describes them as “one of the best up-and-coming young artist duos out there.” And following their live appearance on “Great Day Houston” in March 2019, KHOU-TV proclaimed, “Wild Fire are setting the music world ablaze.” This fire was kindled in Houston, where their parents spotted Kelli's and Kayla's talent when they were barely old enough to sing along to Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Sam Hunt, FGL and other radio favorites. When each girl was 6 years old she began studying with celebrated vocal coach Pamela Moore. Both also learned to play guitar, with Kelli doubling on drums. They took to songwriting quickly and naturally and learned how to transfer their energy and creativity to numerous live theater and dance productions. Voices In My Head Podcast Episode 332: Jennifer M. Greenberg - Not Forsaken: A Story of Life After Abuse: How Faith Brought One Woman From Victim to Survivor —“Isn't it tragic that in a world so beautiful and diverse, a defining feature we all have in common is pain?”Jennifer M. Greenberg knows pain all too well, having suffered psychological, physical, and sexual abuse at the hands of her church-going father. At the age of 15, as she contemplated suicide with a razor to her arm, she heard the voice of God say to her, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” From that moment on, she knew she had a father in heaven who loved her. She knew she had a purpose in life on this earth. In her new book, Not Forsaken: A Story of Life After Abuse: How Faith Brought One Woman From Victim to Survivor (The Good Book Company, Aug. 20, 2019), Greenberg shares how her faith brought her through the darkest of situations, time and time again, and how faith can enable survivors of all walks to navigate issues of guilt, forgiveness, love, and value. She also encourages church leaders to take the necessary measures to protect the vulnerable amongst them. About Jennifer M.GreenbergJennifer Greenberg is a Christian, Texan, and stay-at-home mom of three who listens to heavy metal and likes black licorice. Also a singer, Jennifer's music has been covered my numerous outlets such as Christianity Today, Houston Chronicle, and featured on NPR, FOX 26, and Great Day Houston. Real people telling their stories about how Star of Hope Mission has helped them change their lives and become productive members of society.
Having been an entrepreneur for 30 years, Tom Jackobs has been through a few challenges. He's definitely had more failures than successes, and he wouldn't have it any other way. He sold my fitness business which I owned for 9 years a year ago to start teaching other entrepreneurs how to use story to sell. He also quickly realized that most small business owners don't follow up with their leads, so he started teaching them how to create follow up system so they could have a conversation to share their story and make more sales. With his degree in theatre he is able to help his clients create a performance out of their presentations so it's not the same boring presentation audiences are unfortunately used to seeing. He's been a contributor to CBS Radio in Houston, a guest on Great Day Houston, Univision, Fox 26 News and The CW Houston. He's also a presenter at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Houston. “Ask for help before you need it. That is just really critical. Get the help early on if you are wantrapreneur and just starting in business. Talk to other people who have done it before. Get a mentor, get a coach and they will save you tons of wasted money and time to get your product or idea to market”…[Listen for More] Click Here for Show Notes To Listen or to Get the Show Notes go to https://wp.me/p6Tf4b-6DH
To say Tom has been through a few things in his 30+ years of being an entrepreneur is an understatement. He's definitely had more failures than successes, but wouldn't have it any other way. He sold His fitness business which he owned for 9 years a year ago to become the Impact Pilot, helping entrepreneurs generate more income through better sales strategy and using stories to sell. Tom has a BFA Degree in Theatre from DePaul University in Chicago and holds his private pilot license for single engine airplanes, which was a lifelong dream he achieved in 2013. He's been a contributor to CBS Radio in Houston, a guest on Great Day Houston television show, Univision Television, Fox 26 News, KPRC Channel 2 and The CW Houston. Everything about this episode will be right there, Awesomers.com/43. Today my special guest is Tom Jackobs. Now to say Tom has been through a few things in his 30-plus years of being an entrepreneur is an understatement. He's definitely had more failures than successes, but wouldn't have it any other way. He sold his fitness business which he owned for nine years. Now after he'd made that sale of that business, he went on to become the impact pilot, which is a business designed to help entrepreneurs generate more income through better selling strategy and using stories to sell. Man oh man, I can't tell you how much I love storytelling as a methodology of marketing and sales and communication in general. It's really really effective. Now tom has a BFA degree from DePaul University in Chicago and he holds his private pilot license for single-engine airplanes, which he's had a lifelong dream and he achieved that over five years ago. Now I wanted to say a side note, he doesn't try to have impacts in that part of his piloting, but for selling he wants a big impact. Now, he's been a contributor to CBS radio in Houston and a guest on Great Day Houston, Univision television, Fox 26 News and many other Houston-related TV programs. He's also been a presenter at the Small Business Development Center in Houston, Texas. Tom has a really unique way of kind of just cutting right through it and getting to the heart of storytelling. Every one of us, in fact you listening, you have a story to tell. This really is the genesis of the Awesomers.com podcast.

However, few patients with chronic ailments ever really get well by taking drugs. How can they? Chronic illness and disease are not caused by deficiencies of prescription drugs.” In his latest book, Hypothyroidism, Health & Happiness, Dr. Hotze reveals how commonly hypothyroidism is overlooked, misdiagnosed, and mistreated in women and men, and gives you just the information you need to prepare yourself to obtain help. Suzanne Somers dedicated an entire chapter to Dr. Hotze in her New York Times best seller, Breakthrough. “This Texan doctor is going to steal your heart,” writes Somers. “He has so much energy he can’t wait to get to his office each day. He has built up a practice that is the envy of doctors everywhere.” Dr. Hotze has appeared on hundreds of television and radio shows across the nation, including ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX affiliates, CBS’ The Morning Show and The Biography Channel. He is also a regular guest on the KHOU Channel 11 morning program, Great Day Houston and the WFAA morning program, Good Morning Texas. Women are more independent than ever: earning more in the job market, owning their own homes, doing the things they once needed men to do. Careers don't provide companionship, however, and while the numbers of successful women soar so do the numbers of single ones. On today's show we discuss why so many independent, successful women are single. Are men intimidated? Do career women not know how to leave the job at home? Do successful women need to dumb down their financial assets and play up their physical assets to be more attractive to a man? Do independent women even need a man? Dr. D Ivan Young and special guests help weigh in on the issue. Jane Mattes, L.C.S.W., a NYC psychotherapist and single mother by choice, founded Single Mothers by Choice (SMC) in 1981 after having her son, Eric, in 1980. In addition to writing the book, Single Mothers by Choice, she has overseen the growth of SMC from the original chapter in NYC to chapters all around the US, and in Canada and Europe. Alexis Jones is the co-author and publisher of the faith-based book “Super Singles Activate”: a compilation of 47 testimonies to inspire and uplift the single woman. As a public relations professional she's worked with industry leaders such as Beyonce Knowles & Destiny Child's Management Company and national publication Upscale Magazine. Alexis currently serves as an associate producer for KHOU Ch. 11's Great Day Houston with Deborah Duncan. She's played the role of the single professional woman, and is now preparing for her next role as a wife. To submit show ideas, comment, or be a featured guest, email julia@divanyoung.com.
